https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdsPF2lxq_E I found this video helpful. My Canon Ti7 camera has been filming with that light grain to it. I'm trying to fix it (because it didnt used to do that!) but I can't remember the original settings I used to use...

I came across a Neewer 2 pack of panel lights for only $32!!!! They're completely dimmable up to 5600k. They're small but I think they would be perfect if you're trying to keep your budget down or just need something small to fill in some light. This guy is using them as a key light. I think they're selling pretty quickly because they weren't in stock on Cyber Monday. Already there's only 8 left.

I bought them and even though they are little they are BRIGHT!
A excellent addition to my cam setup. Thank you for informing about them as I was saving for a ring light, these will do for a few months. I haven’t cammed with them yet, but I’ve tested with my cam and they fixed some unwanted shadows that I had in my face. I also got for $26, so I don’t know if they will still have at the same price. I always check for cheap price options before putting in the basket.

^^ I just ordered these because Ive wanted to upgrade my lighting and add some strip lighting and get rid of some of my old lamps I'm using as filler lights for a while now, can't wait to get them!

#newyearnewlighting

edit: I think my softbox is mad at me. Ive had it like 7yrs and Ive heard the occasional buzzing from the switch, and was going to order a backup but I didnt and right after I pushed the order for these lights, a new bulb for my softbox, and some strip lighting and a new ring light my softbox crapped out an hour later.

Okay so now its really new year, new lights, ALL of them, and I'm forced offline till Wed night ;O sitting in the dark (my bedroom has NO lighting at all, lol) in the cold doing absolutely nothing cause I'm normally online and my baby is napping.. haha

I'm happy people are getting some use out of that Neewer 2 pack. I haven't seen many people talk about them yet but it looked like a great deal. I almost ordered them out of curiosity but I don't really need them. Please keep the updates coming. ♥️

I have a tip for those who purchased the RGB floodlights. You can also use them as a filler light when you don't need the color effects. I use my 15 watt set on the white or yellow setting. I place them way off to the side on the lowest setting and it works perfectly. If you place them too close to the wall or any object really the light creates an orb. Then the orb becomes too intense and looks weird on camera.

PS Do Not order the 15 watt RGB set if you want color intensity. Go for 30 watts or above. I just never returned my first pair and now I have both.

Well, I have one update of these lights. Finally got to cam with them after my mini holiday vacations and OMG HUGE DIFFERENCE! Guys on Streamate we’re mentioning that and I don’t know if is related with them but also my position on the website was better. I’m excited and I cannot thank enough PhatGirlDynomite!!! For telling about them.

I may get those RGB floodlights down the road as I’m working on moving to a bigger room for camming where I can put more props. Thank you!

I LOVE them, they are powerful lil suckers and are filling in light exactly where I wanted them to and how I wanted them to, thank you for the suggestion! Literally prob the best 30$ I ever spent;)

I did get some strip lights too but they're not doing what I want so Im going to return them and go for the RGB lights you suggested also;)

Truth, but then my husband looked at it and took the switch apart and the lil sucker came back on like 'nooo don't replace me!' so I just added it in with everything else.. its on timeout (I stuck it in the corner, lol)

We'll see how it does but now its AWFULLY bright in here and I LOVE it! I can finally make my cam not look 'cool toned' so my skintone doesnt look awful. Very happy with the new set up. :)

Before I was using some old desk lamps to fill in light so thats why I got the neewer lights so I could take those out and use something that was more sleek and out of the way, and then upgraded my ring light and added an extra softbox :)

I just use two desk lamps that have twisty necks on them so I can move them in any direction. I find that pointing the lights towards the wall does wonders for me and makes my skin glow. Also, they were only a buck at the dollar store so it's a win win for me :D

lways been really yellow/orange because my walls are a cream/yellow color, but I never really bothered to try to fix it ... but recently, it started really bothering me ... I know that a lot of you recommend pink lights, but I read somewhere that blue counteracts yellow really well

Does anyone have experience with ring lamps? I have a softbox w/ a 50w equivalent daylight bulb currently. It was great in the summer as I live on the 5th floor and have two MASSIVE windows facing me, but winter by me is dreary, so the natural light coming in is kinda bluish. My set up with the logitech c920 makes my whole feed blueish and dark and I HATE it.

I think just about everyone who's posted in this thread has a ringlight. You can read backwards in this thread to see different opinions. If your set up is giving off a bluish tint then that means the lighting is too cool. A tungsten diffuser can help warm things up and give off a golden glow. You can pick up a ringlight on Amazon that comes with both the cool white diffuser and the orange one. Also the ringlight is dimmable so you can control the brightness. What color is your background?

Yeah I was sifting through but didn't see anything, maybe I missed it though...

Background is white. Ideally I'd like something where the temperature can be adjusted. I'll look into a tungsten diffuser.. thanks!

White Walls are the easiest to work with. They'll take on the hurt of anything you throw at them. This is the most popular ringlight out right now.

Hi all, I was hoping I could get some advice from a Logitech Brio user... I just got mine and the exposure is soooooo bright that I look like I’m over exposed. I had to lower the brightness and contrast Just to not be super bright but it didn’t look good. Has anyone had this experience with the brio? If so, how did you fix it ? I currently don’t have good lighting, only little desk lamps angled to reflect off the wall so it’s a little dark in my room. I’m waiting on a ring light to come in the mail and I’m hoping that helps but I’m worried it won’t fix the problem.

You can adjust the exposure in the Logitech webcam software. The latest software is the Logitech Capture. You can also access the api software settings in applications like Skype or OBS. You can get the old LWS280 software from this article (https://boleynmodels.com/blog/cammodel_tools_free_downloads/) if you don't want to use the Capture software.

Here are somethings that I have done:

Bounce the light off the wall (have the light pointed at the wall)

Currently the placement of the one I am using is on a light stand at my desk but the height of the light is higher than my eyes (maybe 6 to 12 inches)

My daughter's boyfriend suggested using a sheer material (like a curtain) or if you have a diffuser panel (softbox) cover to place over it

Currently using logitech 920 as cam combined with, two softboxes (from Falcon eyes) aimned at facelevel when sitting down and lower body coverage with light.... and two led lights (SO - 40TD Sophiez led light from Falcon Eyes) which has option to go from yellow to ultra white light and also very adjustable from soft to bright light
I aim the two led light to favelevel when standing up covering face and upperbody part.... when sitting down its giving my background coverage (and a overall glow and lightness in image)

the addition of the two led light has been something I should have done ages ago, making work so much easier. Clearer picture, and 100% controll over how your image is coming acrosss (white/yellow wise and background standing positions wise)

I also always have my camsetup and light as in photoshoots, making sure there is a background behind me so the light does not get lost

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcXAWiRetuA
SO - 40TD Sophiez led light review info video

Softboxes I use
http://www.falconeyes.com.hk/Product.aspx?id=496
2x 4 lamps softboxes (in which I place 3 lamp instead of 4 bec else it gets to warm and overlighted)

^I def can recommend the falcon eyes softboxes, they are very stable and sturdy ... Ive cammed with them from the start and they still work perfectly. My exbf purchased anotehr softbox of a cheaper brand and the quality diff was def there, in both stability/sturdyness of lamp itself as in filter and soft light it was giving

Thanks for the recommendation PGD, I just got these off the Neewer website and I was able to apply a 5% off discount code (GOLDEN5) so it came out to about $32. Amazon had it for $35 I think and Ebay was super over priced.

I see fairy lights are becoming more and more popular on a lot of model streams also the nano lights I see in a ton of youtuber backgrounds

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o41emqmX6ds

My ringlight broke so I ordered a new 1 and it is wayyyyy too bright I will have to play around with it I only managed to use it for an hour and got a headache from it. I got flood lights and smart bulbs but I havent been using them I need to experiment with them more but I find that I just dont look sharp enough on camera without the ringlight but the new ring light makes the room too bright now so I've got some trial and error to go yet.

Does anybody have those projector lights in their camming background ?

You should try panel lights if the ring light is too bright. But those can be adjusted? I have a galaxy projector light but you will need to keep the room rather dark to make them pop on webcam. Unless it's a dslr/mirrorless camera that performs better in low light situations.

RING LIGHT - is it better to get one that's white and comes with tungsten filters (as per a link further back in the thread) or one that you can change the colours on? (re LEDs where you can have blue or red or yellow or white etc)

I feel the first would be better for what I am looking for and get a couple of separate colour change lights for background ambience and/or general side lighting (like you get in the theatre and films, a main white light that's softened off with red/green/blue) - just wondering what everyone else thinks?

Also - what size ring should I be looking for, for camming and filming? Should I get two? One small one for my desk and one larger standalone?

(I'm reading backwards through the thread anyway for info :) )

Oooh, see, I really like the look of this, but is it good enough for the job? I don't know what wattage I need - and also the reviews aren't that good for this particular model, so I'd probably get something a little better, but you get the idea - a small ring light on a swivel clamp arm: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Neewer-Streaming-Light-Artist-Swivel/dp/B07W8GWFMK/ref=sr_1_25?dchild=1&keywords=ring+light+desk&qid=1609518471&sr=8-25

My main ring light is a Neewer 18 inch with white and tungsten diffusers. These are best for filming etc. They come smaller but those dont cover as much space. Usually it's the smaller ring lights that come with RGB colors: blues, pinks, red, purple..

If you find a large one with rgb lights please share the link. I still use my flood lights to enhance my background colors.

I ordered this here in the UK. No, my mini travel lights were at least 3 years old. I feel like I should still buy 2 more in case I can't turn off overhead lights like in my hotel. I'll still look great during the day. The ring light is fantastic for pics and extra glow for daylight camming and if you have decent overall lighting to compliment it. I don't feel like it's enough to light up a room alone, though unless you want a more late night spotlight look. I still want the 2 dual lights working together so I'll order 2 more mini travel lights to compliment it. Turning off the overhead lights and only using the ring light only seems to work if the light is directly in front of me. Great for pics and filming. I went on cam and had a great shift the first time I used it.

Does anyone recommend any other lighting that isn’t ring lights?

These little cuties are awesome, I have them for hair light and extras https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B089YSP9QH?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

The elgato keylight https://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-Elgato-professional-adjustable-app-enabled/dp/B07L755X9G

This is a very popular entry level 'professional' light

With https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B08G8FC3FR?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

I sent mine back as it does make some noise from the fan (I can't have that as I make asmr) but many swear by it

Do you have a link to the RGB one please? Also, what's the benefit in having an RGB one over a white/tungsten one (that Kourtney linked to)?

Thanks!

This is mine (used on a tall stand) https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B082XPHZ53/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I love love love it, literally can't recommend enough and it was so cheap. You can still use plain white, you just have other colours to choose from too. I hate a very bright light in front of me so I use mine turned down to halfway or lower, on pink/peachy colour, and have two little bendy clip on lights I attach to the side of it with socks over them (sounds weird but it's perfect for what I want which is hypnotic anime eyes) then a little led panel hair light and the elgato pointed at the wall for a softer blurred light

THANK YOU! for all this post. I have just read all the thread and your post just kinda seals what I had learned and know what I want now!

One last thing though...those multi coloured floods you had/have. I added them to my wishlist back when you were recommending them, they've now disappeared and I can't find anything that is 30W (it's 20 or 60) and they're all much more expensive. Yes I should have purchased sooner, but, well, LIFE meh. So my question: is 20W going to do "the job" for filming clips (and maybe camming)?

30 would be better. But there are a multitude of strip lights and rgb tube lights (look like those star wars sticks) you can get now so there's tons of options.

What's wrong with these? https://www.amazon.co.uk/COOLWEST-Floodlight-Changing-Waterproof-Adjustable/dp/B07ZHWT5HP/

Nothing! Thank you!! I obviously get word-blind if I do too much browsing and researching in one go, I didn't see those at all, everything was 20 and 60 lol. I think also I was looking for a pack of 2 for that sort of price (as they were a couple of years ago). I'll have more of a look cos I do like the idea of the tube light, so much choice :O :D

These ringlights that I've been hearing about for a long time...I've never had one. These ringlights + tripod sound like something I'd have to spend half the day trying to set up, while pulling my hair out. Lol. So y'all use those with the Logitech Brio webcam? My Brio is arriving on Friday. I'm currently using the C920.

Over the years I've seen some really beautiful cam rooms (pink lights or blue lights or whatever...very sexy...I'm a pink FANATIC!) with models giving off some real sexy strip club party vibes. :)

Ring lights are super easy. The hardest part is screwing the ring onto a tripod lol. They're not really the best for camming/video but I still use my little one. If you like colour there's lots of easy rgb strip lights you can simply plug in and stick anywhere you like or the flood lights mentioned above, have a different colour on each wall. I often use pink and purple :)

Oops, I meant to say "real sexy strip club party vibes"...not "real sex." Haha.

They only take 5 minutes to set up, the real setup time is where you want to put it in the room. Mine was a usb plug but I plug it into the wall. My mistake was ordering only big white 1s instead of RGB when I prefer RGB lights always and on a table top would be more convenient. I have enough space in my cam room that I can leave mine standing up in the room like I do with my floor lamps because they are tall so there is virtually no daily setup time for my lights I have no patience for that shit daily LOL
