I know Charlie had mentioned booking the surgery on a Monday morning which I had not really considered but I realize that's definitely the way to go....my concern now is that since I work a vanilla job now and I only get two weeks vacation (one if already booked for a trip in Nov). If I booked on a Monday, would I be well enough to go to back to work the following Monday? Since now I'll only be able to book off 5 working days...ugh I hate the restrictions of a vanilla job. Will the Monday-Monday be long enough to heal?

You'll likely still have some bruising (if you're good with concealer, you'll be able to cover it up), and you'll definitely still be swollen (but unless you're getting a drastic surgery, not many people will notice as long as you've covered up the bruising). My main concern for you would be that you have to have an appointment to get the cast taken off. Most doctors want to wait 7 days to take the cast off.

Ok perfect, that's what I was hoping for. I don't mind even if people notice, I just didn't want to be completely useless and in pain at work a week later.

^No, you'll be good. I actually told people at work that I had broken my nose (hiking accident) just because I bruise quite easily and so had a more obvious post-op look than the majority of people do. I probably could've just tried a bit harder with concealer and no one would have noticed.

Has anyone here had a nose job?

Was it worth it? Did you find that you made more money stripping/was the hustle easier?

There's a whole thread on this....I think it's even on this page. do a search. Yes I had one and I wish I did it 10 years sooner! Best thing I ever did, I look completely different!

Yes, open rhinoplasty here. (tip augmented with ear cartilage, bridge augmented with goretex)

I dont strip but I believe it improved my appearance and improved my personal life a little bit.

Anytime one looks better, it can only help their chances of success in the personal and business world.

We humans are visual creatures and are magnets to attractive things and people.

Thats exactly what my Doctor in Manila, Philippines did. (went there to have the surgery done because its cheaper and he is well known/has done a lot of the celebrities there)

He exercised a lot of restraint and was conservative not to straight up give me a white person's nose ie really pointy tip projection, narrowed ala, pronounced bridge, etc.

Do you have a before and after picture. This one was post op and curious to know what it looks like today.
My procedure was an open rhiinoplasty and he used goretex for the bridge and some cartilage from my ear to project the tip.

As for the pain, I felt none...it was more of a discomfort as in a congested feeling and for the first 2 nights I had a hard time breathing. The humid Manila weather wasn't much help either but over all I had a good experience. This June it will be a year post operation. It takes up to a year for the nose to finalize and reach its desired shape.

Do you have a before and after picture. It's harder to see with the bandage of what they actually changed.

^ This is a far better resource for you: http://www.realself.com/Rhinoplasty/Nose-job/reviews

The outcome of his nose doesn't really matter at all. He's a dude.. It's just a totally different procedure. Most doctors even intentionally leave in a bit of "roughness" for men's rhinos because men tend to look better with slightly imperfect noses.

I've always wanted a nose job because although I consider my nose beautiful and perfect when viewed from the side, it has a lot of minor imperfections that really add up when you look at it directly. Since I also have a deviated septum that needs fixed, do you think a facial surgery doctor would give a discount on a rhinoplasty if I got both done at the same time? I've heard of them being done at the same time but since insurance will cover the deviated septum but not the rhinoplasty I'm hesitant to have two different surgeries on my nose when it can with one yet I have no where near the money needed to get rhinoplasty.

^The surgeon wouldn't give a discount. However, if your septum is deviated enough, your insurance may pick up part of the cost, which you then wouldn't have to pay. So there wouldn't be an upfront discount; the discount would come through your insurance.

I didn't read this whole thread but has anyone gotten a nose job that just made a minimal change? I don't think my nose needs anything major done to it because it's small and there's no bump or anything, but it's not symmetrical and that bothers me.

Yep - that's what I did. I said I wanted to look like a better version of myself. I wanted to have that look that made people go "did you change something...maybe your hair?" without being able to pinpoint the nose. Surgeons differentiate between "stylized" noses (i.e. aspiring pornstar who wants a more extreme, sleek look) and "natural" noses. I highly recommend finding a surgeon who can show you visuals (via photoshop or similar) to make sure you're on the same page before your surgery. Emphasize exactly what you wish to change about your nose, and what you'd like to keep the same.

You should get your nose done by a surgeon who ONLY does facial work. Seriously. This thing is in the center of your face - do NOT compromise! You want a surgeon who has done thousands of rhinoplasties and considers rhinos to be the main focus of their business. It's fine if they also do face lifts and other similar work, but I'd get someone who is obsessed with faces. And, obviously, make sure they're board certified in facial surgery.

Sure, if you get yours done by someone who also does BAs, you might end up with a good nose (it happens often). But this isn't something you want to risk.

Couldn't agree more, took the words out of my mouth. Love my nose job (also big sinus surgery).

My consultation was detailed. I emailed pics of what I liked and didn't like and why.
