Bump

Sooo I start my first shift on Sunday. Not sure what to expect money-wise but for the purpose of the post lets say I'll earn $300 for a day shift. It's a small dive bar. How would I tip the bouncers? Do I only tip the ones I've worked with who have stayed with me for dances or do I tip each one individually? I want to say there was 4-5 guys when I went to check it out last week Thursday night, and this Thursday when I went to fill out paperwork. And for the girls who go in for day shift do you usually want to stay till close? I'm sure my club would let me do 4p-2a, and I want to do it on my first day. I just want to feel the vibe of how everything works, and make sure that I make as many rookie mistakes on my first day and learn the rules.

You need to ask at the beginning of the shift what tip outs are mandatory. If you struggle your first few shifts (a lot of girls do) it is to be understood and they won't get that upset. On top of that if there is a specific floor guy, or waitress that helps you make money by directing clients to you then you should give them extra. If one of the door guys walks you to your car be sure to throw them a few bucks too.

The manager should go over mandatory minimum tip outs. If there aren't any, I usually give $10-$15 to the DJ ($7-$10 minimum is standard here) and $5 to a bouncer who walks me out. When you say 'stayed with you for dances', what do you mean? You don't tip the guys who are counting songs or anything.

You can tip waitresses or bouncers who point out good customers to you or hook you up directly (like if a guy says "I want a blonde" and they call you over). I do it for guys who spend $100 or more and I'll tip the staff member according to what he spent. Nothing too crazy though.

Also, that is a very very long shift you're trying to work. Most girls work 4-6 hours or so. You also gotta make sure you're allowed to swap & overlap shifts. Some clubs will kick the day girls out at a certain time, sometimes the managers are possessive of their shifts & only want girls they personally hired or okayed, etc.

Good to know. I can't remember what the manager told me about mandatory tips. I think theres only one person we're supposed to tip, and i'll find out about shift times. They're really flexible on schedule but I'll ask again tomorrow. Thanks!
