I feel like I'm in more of a free chat hell with Skype messages than I am on free chat sites lol!
This guy just now, going off on me in a wonderful way because I told him I was not doing foot shows. I was very polite and told him I'm not doing foot shows, he gets all kinds of mad at me.... I told him look did you see any foot show listings on my profile? No. Maybe use the categories to find models. Then he proceeds to tell me how nasty he's sure my feet must be... and that he needs a preview. I'm like.... seriously? Block.
I am happy about the bidding on spots though, because when Mark told me that featured spots had more than a month waiting list, I immediately thought "well, he's clearly not charging enough for featured spots!" so this seems like a better idea.

And now we bid... Is traffic that good at the top because all I'm getting is a ton of freeloading foreigners who act like the thought of paying for a show is a sin. I used to get tons of shows, now, a few inquires. I'm willing to try it out though I guess. $30+ for a week of ads is fine if lots of shows are being bought but why pay for a week of ads for $30 or so, when the monthly ad is only $20? I guess more people will sign up for the monthly because its a lot cheaper.

I'm curious if communicating through emails would work for indy. These guys are used to Skype or Yahoo messages I know but email is so much less irritating for me.
Plus it would be so much easier for me to tell where they found me if I had a distinct email for each indy site. hmmm...

I use yahoo for primary contact with new contacts because I don't like clogging up my skype with randos, but because of my own site I can state with certainty that chicas who use email/contact forms as preferred primary contact method don't have lower conversion rates than anyone else.
choose a contact method that works best for you, whatever that may be. the real clients you want to attract will use it

I get a FEW emails via CMD, and in my experience those guys freeload the hardest. Last week I had 15 freaking emails back and forth with a custie wanting a video. Finally I just told him to email me when he's got his shit together.

I find it irritating that I was on the wait list and now I have to bid. He should have made it that way from the get go. Maybe the people on the wait list should have gotten 1st dibs to bid, I don't know. Now on the first day the highest bid is up to $30, I am officially out.

I bought a featured ad once and got ZERO shows lol. I was making at least $100 a week before I bought the ad. Then I kinda let the site go for awhile. I'm back now but I don't think I would ever buy or bid on a featured ad again.

Today was the first day I spent time logged in and I got 19 Skype add contact requests and one show... lol
I probably won't bid more than I did already. I was overwhelmed with the amount of messages I was getting today, and for only getting one show it wasn't really what I was hoping for. Most of the guys wanted to 1. talk non stop without getting a show 2. negotiate prices when I clearly state price on my profile 3. ask about paypal and amazon gift cards
I'm going to keep trying but I'm going to keep using it with my twitter followers rather than pay for a featured spot.

I won't lie--there was a time when I could have used CMD for my entire income. I would have had to sit by my computer all day and post multiple ads, but I could have done it. The new site has been mixed for me. I have theories that paying customers haven't transitioned over yet or that marketing has been ignored a bit to finish the new site. Also, it's been slow as fuck on big box sites, so indy being super slow/full of time wasters is very reflective of what's happening this time of year period in my opinion.
Hopefully it picks up soon.

I know you mentioned to choose a contact method Loveshooks; but you ever worry about how easy it is hacking into Yahoo? I just don't know..could I be overly concerned on there history issues?
I don't think that yahoo is easier to hack than any other messenger service, historically yahoo has probably been targeted more heavily as it's an older messenger service and used to be one of the most popular. still, most hacks to any system are caused by keyloggers and phishing rather than any inherent insecurity issues. to prevent that never accept skype/yahoo files from people you don't trust, use a good antivirus and never fall for that 'hey, your pirated content is being passed around a yahoo group' ish (if you log in to check it for yourself via the link they provide they can steal your password)
my main concern is protecting my skype account (that's the reason I never post that ID publicly, or talk publicly about the reason why I protect it), so I use yahoo as my sorting system for separating new clients from the chaff. but yeah, based on my own experience and watching trends on LCMS, most guys don't seem to care about initial contact method. it's really just a matter of choosing one(s) that suits you best

There's a monthly payment of $20 I believe for a featured spot at the top, and top placement with ads and a red ribbon on your profile. But bidding looks like it's going to be $30+ depending on how much one wants the top spot but that's only for a week. It looks like he's trying to get a bid war going on which girls could start putting down $50-100 just to be the top girl. Great for Mark but I'm not sure what it will be like for us. I have this site that I advertise on and sometimes I'll get a ton of paying traffic. Then there are weeks like last week where I spent $100+ in advertising and it was dead so there's that.

How do you ladies deal with the offline adding/messaging? I mean when you log into Skype and there's guys that tried to add or message you when you weren't signed in.
I've been just sending a canned response with my CMD link in it, but I'm not sure that's the best way to handle it since it rarely converts to sales OR the guy even responding.
Issabelle

I think that Mark did away with the monthly ads and now featured ads are the only option. Monthly ads used to appear on the side bar on the old site. No such ad space anymore and it doesn't appear in the FAQs as an option to buy any longer.
So, if you want a top ad, you're gonna have to bid.

I get back to them ASAP. If I brought the guy myself I'll try and set something up and leave my cm link so he can spend on other girls. If they came from CMD I will get back to them as soon as I see they messaged/tried to add me and I'll try and get them to book a show by pasting my purchase link from CMD. For some reason I'm getting mainly foreigners who assume we're around for free cam sex. Go figure.

Ugh. I'm actually pretty annoyed at the bidding for spots thing.
Same here. I'm honestly really not a fan of most of these changes. I liked that you could pay for exposure OR earn exposure by being a top model. It was motivating and attainable. TBH featured spots never did anything for me (I never paid for them but I've gotten free monthly featured ads many times and found no difference in traffic) but I still appreciated the thought. I really wish CMD had just stayed the way it was. I'm still doing alright on it earnings-wise but it used to be by far my favorite site, and now it's getting kind of depressing. :/

I was unhappy that the top earners would always appear ahead of the lower earners. I really liked the old site with bumping, because I had a shot to temporarily be at the top. I sit logged in to CMD all day and only get losers and timewasters. I was planning to request I be added to the waitlist for a feature spot, I fully expected Mark to jack the price of those spots up to $50 or so per month, but this bidding thing is crap. There is no explanation other than a blatant money grab.

I think Mark should've offered top spots to all the bbs who were around when CMD first launched. I know that just because someone finds a site first that they should get first dibs but I remember when it was just a handful of us girls and traffic was banging. Now I'm seeing girls on top who are extremely new. I've previously paid for feature ads and the last time I paid I didn't even make a sale all month. I'd be willing to try it again but I just feel like it's overcrowded now and we'll have to push harder to get a piece of the pie. Mark is my boy, quick to respond (to me anyway) funny and really tech savvy. I just wish it didn't feel so "big box site" right now.

I'm a new model on there and have been making maybe $30 a week and sitting at the very bottom of the list so I thought of buying a featured status to get some boost and a bit of exposure. But now I see it only lasts a week and someone's bid $50 for it already? And it's not even the end of the bidding period. Looks like I'm gonna have to pay around $70 for a feature that may or may not pay off or just stay in the asshole of the world.

I had to block about 3 guys in a row today...
I do notice more time wasters since the site s changes....
Hope it picks up again, I wonder if now they gotta re build all the traffic/ customers again like when the site first launched, if that s the case I guess it s gonna take a while....
Everyday is different for me, I work several sites and some days I get a few great shows with awesome customers, other days, I sit on my ass for 8 hrs and I get time waster after freebie seeker, etc all day long....

Me too. If it was bidding on monthly spots it would be one thing but not it looks like the biding starts at $20 for a weekly spot. Instead of the $20-$25/month that ads use to be. I understand Mark wants to give more models a chance at being featured when hes reduced the number of feature slots but Maybe a weekly Lotto would same a little more fair. $10/week to join the lotto, 10 Ladies randomly chosen each week.
Funny I'd rather pay $10/week (for 10wks), for the possibility of winning a spot. Than bid $100 for a spot for one week. Knowing that I spent the same amount of money either way. But that's just me.
Who knows maybe after a few weeks the average cost for feature spots will go down

Whoa I just looked at the site and I don't remember it looking like this the many times I peeked at it. I'm just now reading there has been a change and for the life of me I'm sitting at my profile thinking what I should write. It feels like forever since I specialized in anything working freechat sites. It's like you're so used to just tips for things that privates are far and few between which is what I want more of. Still it's been awhile since I listed specialties on a profile.

Idk if it's just me or the site has really lost many users because of the makeover but I won one of the featured spots and have seen no considerable increase in views. My ads were getting far more attention with the old layout than they are on the new site in the featured section. The only one of my ads that got a more or less decent number of clicks over the 3 days is the one I've been promoting on Twitter.

For our models on there, traffic/earnings dipped right after the changeover, but since then there's been a steady increase in total shows and daily earnings. This week its now well above what it was in the previous few months. Whatever is happening, it is working for a few people.
My only concern is people setting their rates too low. I see the same customers doing shows with multiple models, willing to pay much higher rates based on their spending habits.

This is just a personal preference thing but I completely hate the look of the new layout. It now looks like every other box site out there. The whole reason I liked CMD originally is because it didn't really look like anything else out there originally. It really had this 'indy seller' feel to it.
Now it just has the stereotypical big box feel to it. :(

I am not with BM for CMD, but hearing this makes me want to try harder on CMD. Obviously the issue is with me and my ads, and not the site change if it is working for some girls. I re-did my ads, picked new photos, totally re-wrote my profile, and added another ad. I plan to add another ad tomorrow, with new content, and another the day after that. My ad views are really low, likely in large part because I am way down the list. I am going to go hard on CMD again while also promoting my other indy listing, hopefully I can snag some of that traffic and creep up to a place where I am visible again. It's a vicious circle of placement...kind of reminds me of MFC and the infernal camscore.
One thing I HATE is that when you scroll to the end of the list and it says "loading", the rest of the models don't show up until you scroll right to the bottom of the scrollbar (at least in Chrome). So if you see the "loading" circle, but aren't all the way to the bottom of the scrollbar, the rest of the models won't load. Annoying, especially since I am below that circle!

I'm not doing quite so well on there as I did before the change around and I notice the guys are not coming from cmd anymore. I'm sending my indie guys there to pay but wish more came from the site itself. I've decided I'm never going to pay for featuring as its way too expensive. Also I say no PayPal, no previews, rates non negotiable in my ad (I'm busy enough elsewhere to not have to pander to indie guys, they either pay my set rate or get lost!) but I'm getting way more guys since the change up ask for PayPal, 5 min discount shows, or otherwise try to haggle aka waste my time.

I think that's a general Skype show thing, the total customer base is continuously being watered down by freeloaders as it expands. The money is still there, but you generally have to not let them even set you up for crap when they contact you.
Just lead off with "Are you ready to play?"...if they waffle at all, they're dead weight.

Just lead off with "Are you ready to play?"...if they waffle at all, they're dead weight.
Every single contact, regular or otherwise, is responded to with 'hey love. What kind of show are you looking for? How long do you want it to be?' If they don't answer both questions or give me an 'I don't know' or 'what do YOU like to do?,' 99 times out of 100 I can write them off as time wasters.
I paid for a featured ad for the week. Thus far, I've made decent money. However, 90% of that money is from regulars I had before the site change over and/or customers I brought directly to CMD myself. I don't feel like the featured model status is worth the price tag in and of itself and I'm loathe to pay for it, but I also hate that a bad couple of days or weeks can tank my placement so far down that I stop getting any traffic that isn't mine. It's a shitty catch-22 in my mind.
TL,DR; Jury is out on whether or not I'm in the black for purchasing a featured ad and, being that I only have 48 more hours of featured status, that's a really bad sign.

Heads up for people considering bidding for featured spots: unless coincidences miraculously occur week after week, bidding the highest amount for the top spot in the featured model bidding wars won't actually get you the top spot. It appears that the ads are alphabetical by username (though not display name, hover over each model for their URL to see what I mean). I can't find anywhere that Mark actually says this, because that might dampen some of the bidding heat. Also, there are somehow still 3 other models up there who appear to be holdovers from the monthly thing, which...is odd.
So...anyone claiming this isn't a blatant cash grab...yeah.

ETA: The best way to bid is to add 0.01 to the lowest level, since your name determines placement anyway. However the lowest level (place #10) is currently $2.00, but the system won't let me bid less than $5.00. Funny how that works...

Continuing our conversation earlier, it seems Mark has added a minimum bid of $5 after realizing some of us picked up on the 'start bid at $.01 to keep costs low' scheme.

I haven't made any money on there since the 13th of march!! and for me that is not normal. I am not sure what is going on. but I don't like it. I will not pay for bidding now that there is a $5 min, I think that is just a $$ thing on Marks part, because if he was for the models, he wouldn't have done that.
