View Full Version : 50-70, be a stripper

Hi Lauren- no not a weird question. I've always considered myself an artist. I think I danced full time as an exotic dancer for maybe the first 3 years of my career. Since then, I had other careers and dancing was a complimentary way to support whatever I was doing. I've always considered myself a dancer. In my twenties, I was a go-go dancer for raves and booked as a dance performance artist for theater pieces, clubs and raves. (Ironically, that was the late 80's. My salary was literally more than it is now!). I was also a successful commercial actress, did theater, et.
The pole thing is just something I've done for over 20 yrs on stage, but for a long time, I didn't look at it as an artistic thing; just a fun, athletic thing. But a couple of years ago, I started doing pole shows in regular clubs that had themes. I started creating characters for my pole shows. So it's become an art thing now.
But, yes, if I didn't consider myself an artist, I don't think I would have ever became an exotic dancer. The stage performing is what lured me. I know stage isn't a big deal anymore, but I definitely make use of it no matter what club I work in. (Of course, I have so compromise my style to make $). So, yes it's fulfilling because its my way of thinking. No kids and married to another artist which is not always 'smooth sailing':-)

What club is that?? It looks so familiar and it's bugging me trying to place it. I'm thinking maybe Jumbo's clown room but not sure. You're in LA right? I've worked in LA on several occasions so I swear that's somewhere I've been or worked lol.
btw you are GORGEOUS and I'd love to see your competition video if it's available on youtube.
Hi KaraLynn- It's at Cheetah's. I don't work there, but one or two Sundays a month, this producer Amanda, rents the Cheetah's space for her pole show. There are no house girls in the club at that time unless they pay Amanda to be on the show. It's all pole dancers from beginning level to pro-comp. It's a showcase, not a comp.
As for my comp vid...the first minute is what I wanted it to be, then I fell and the next 3 minutes I was so off: timing, form, speed, just completely off. I did take the bronze, but I had soooo many points knocked off because of my fall:-( My points were WAY below the lady who won second place.:-[
I'll upload it and post the link here, but I'll never make it public.

Well this is an odd question. Since Jennifer Lopez is 46 I would say, yes. You can totally dance in your 50's if you are Jennifer Lopez. Most women, are not Jennifer Lopez. So they would, either be a gimmic or have to look REALLY, really good and have a stock of 90 year old customers or people with Cougar fetishes. I would never say a person was too old to do anything they wanted. Would they be successful? Not sure. I have def, seen women in their LATE 40's, 50's and yes a few in their 60's, They were making money so who gives a damn what anyone else has to say.

Yasmina Rossi - some sources say she's 59, others 61. Anyway, she is gorgeous and would have a niche basically all to herself. If a man wants mature, it is hard for a 20 y/o to compete.

I don't thinks it's a matter of CAN you do it or SHOULD you do it for that long. At 32, I'm trying to finish nursing school. I don't mind stripping as a mature dancer, but there's no job security and money isn't the same as it use to be. I've only danced for 6 years, but not having employment history is a bitch! Dealing with people objectify you and judging you non stop-wow! I think as long as it's for YOU then fine, but working in this industry isn't what it use to be.

I think for health reason 50 + is a too much. It’s really hard on your joints and you better have good long term insurance. I don’t expect know if there’s disability insurance for dancers. It’s usually expensive!
Everyone has their own values and beliefs and after being judged for being a stripper. I don’t push my values and beliefs on other people. Live and let live.

that lady doesn't even look mature. if the hair wasn't white i would guess her under 40, but i'm sure it's a little photo shopped.
in all the clubs i work at, there are a few 'leather faces' and it's really sad to me that they dance at this age. it's kind of pathetic. it's a reminder to me to better myself so that won't be me. but I'm not talking about the ones that look hot and take care of themselves, only the ones that really shouldn't be dancers anymore.

Well I don't feel anyone should be judgmental here..
Sometimes we may not know the reason(s) why someone does something
& really who is anyone to say who should be doing what/when
I saw in a regular pic one of the ladies talked about, she works all over & looks fantastic.
.Also, that vid that Opt post, wow!

I checked Yasmina Rossi's instagram and definately she looks way older, especially in her recent selfies.
But, yes, as whirlez said, let's not be judgemental. We never know what life bring us forward. Some we may reach the top and think we are gonna have a good life from now, we have our own back and everything set up but... WE NEVER KNOW how life can knock us down and we have to start all over again, from the bottom. Or maybe I get bored at 50, my fucking husband is gonna dump me for an younger bitch and I need validation again so i'll start stripping/ camming. That doesn't make me pathetic at all, especially if the men would sit in line for a nice cougar, while the young ones would bite their nails. I'm only 25 now, but just saying.
We are all sex workers. We should support each other no matter at what age or in what conditions we do this job. We are here to help each other to go in the right direction, if we do wrong stuff or we are lost.
Is enough that this world is against us, is a shame to be each other, between us.

Im 43 and am an escort and webcam model, i started in the adult industry at 18 and could never have imagined to still be doing this. You really dont know what life will bring, it was the recession that screwed things up for me, but i try to feel grateful for the whole MILF thing and to still be earning a very good living at this age but in an ideal world id rather have got out.

That’s a very honest answer. I think the biggest problem isn’t my feelings about it, but dealing with judgement. The older I get the less I care- also a bonus.
In an ideal world I probably wouldn’t do this at this age, but in an ideal world there would be more equality and corncern for our fellow man.
I watched a great TED talk about how people think we live in a merit based society. So I think people assume being a mature dancer, that I must “deserve” it. We don’t live in a merit based society bad thing happen to good people an bad people don’t always get what they deserve.

Women are aging differently now. 50 does not look like 50 looked 20 years ago. There are some super hot older women out there, and if you take care of yourself, you can maintain a youthful look well beyond what society tells us is beautiful. People need to start opening their minds up and stop being brainwashed about what media and propaganda feeds us and tells us we should be. March to the beat of your own drum. If you are 50, 60, 70, and you look hot and you want to dance, do it!

It's funny how different ppls own experiences are, for me sex work is the only job with absolute job security where I know I'll be making st least 25 an hour (or what works out to that) even on the absolute worst nights. At 30 I'd consider myself a median-aged stripper , but I've worked w a lot of kickass top earners in their 40s (one in her early 50s)
I've also been stripping six years!

Next month it will be two years since I 'retired'. I was 56 1/2 at the time. I had consciously started cutting down my hours at age 52. I did lie about my age because I didn't want to scare my $$ away;D
I never thought of myself as being a loser because I was still dancing. I really liked it. Instead my thought process was more like, 'Wow! I'm still doing this and I'm in great health, still youthfully attractive and can still smile easily while at work". I ended up getting a job/career that I really liked that ended up taking my time and energy. But I really, really missed dancing for about the next year.
Some of you had mentioned in this thread that 'you don't know what life will throw at you'. I had that happen to me in a big way in August and my situation has sort of spiraled. I won't go into it. Even though, times are not great for me, I don't think I have the desire to go back to dancing. At least I don't think I do.
I've attached a pic of me at the time I retired. At a pole competition, my co-volunteers are in their 20s and 30s, respectively. Anyone can take a great pic, but when you stand next to younger people, the truth is revealed.:D
Happy Dancing, no matter how old you are and Happy New Year!

You know who hits on older women? Younger men.
In my 20s I had a co-worker, another stripper who was in her 40s. She had a hot body, used to be a run way model in her 20s. Let me tell you, she had to beat men of all ages off no matter where we went.. She oozed sex & confidence, rich men between 26 to 65 just threw money at her & chased with roses & jewelry.
As a cam girl/porn star who is 48 I'm beating men off with a stick. My Mom is in her 60s & doing the same. I've girlfriends in their 20s who hate going clubbing with me because all the hot young guys with money hit on me and all the broke old guys hit on them.
I have more men hitting on me now than I did in my 20s when I was skinny. Getting money out of them way easier too.

You're right! Younger men do! I was at a pizza joint with a bunch of friends and I went up to get a slice and a beer. The bartender carded me. He was really surprised. Turned out he was studying to be a fitness trainer,so we had that in common. Then I got my food and forgot about him. He passed me his number...on a Paper, before I left. He was 24. By the way, thank you to all the mature dancers who went before me. I don’t think I’d been brave enough to keep dancing if it weren’t for my mature dancer friends. I’d probably work a shitty day job and kiss everyone’s ass just to please everyone but myself. Love you glitter tribe; If we listened to what society said we’d all just shrivel up and die at 25...LOL.
Also, what do you tell clubs when you are applying out of state? Is honesty and pictures the best policy. I know on paper my age might make people leery of hiring me, but I’m one of the best hustlers in the club.

I used to dance from age 20-32 or so. Dancing was a huge part of my life. I am 41 now (scary thought!) and suddenly I am thinking about dancing again, but I am scared to death due to my age. I used to dance all over the east coast, and auditions were nothing to me since I never got rejected and always got hired on the spot. Do you think it's possible to go back to dancing at my age? I'm much more insecure now. My body is perfect, almost better now than when I was younger cause I work out like a beast, but my face has deteriorated. I feel like I need an under eye lift or something :O lol.
Are there any clubs with girls of my age in Vegas or Phoenix? I feel like I used to "own it", but now I wish I had a mommy to hold my hand and reintroduce me to the business 😂

A lot of the younger dancers look out of shape and don’t do their hair or makeup now. It’s amazing I remember 10 years ago the girls looked so much better...I mean there are some big name clubs where this is an exception I’m sure. But most of the average strip clubs don’t have the girls they used to have. I think a hot older dancer would blow away many of these 20 years olds in 2018.

I'm 38 and just went back after a 6-year break. If you're hot, age doesn't matter. Dance while you can, because you won't always be physically capable of it. Maybe start at a smaller club, day shift or dive while you get your hustle back on point--that's what I'm doing.

I run circles around the Tide pod generation. Youth is a commodity that any little idget in a TJ Maxx bra and panty set with church shoes can possess. Yeah sure some customers may like em young but that's to be expected.

Well I've basically outed myself as low maintenance on here. That being said, I'll agree on a lot of younger dancers not being in shape at all. I think in this business being in shape or working towards it is the least you can do. I can confirm that usually the older dancers I see have killer bodies comparatively lol.

I wish you could hold my hand for a sec and reintroduce me to the business ;) It's funny how I was sooo confident in this industry. I knew all the major clubs on the east coast and wasn't afraid of walking into a club. Now I'm on the west coast and know nobody. I wish I had a connection here that could encourage me and could tell me what clubs I could start out in (grandma clubs? Lol). I agree, most 20 year olds don't look that great. I watched this show called "strippers" on Netflix and some girls' bodies were not that great at all- all they have is youth (aka fat on legs and face) and that's it. Maybe I should get a fat transfer and go back to hustling haha

^^^ I think what a women does with her body is no one’s damn business. The business my have a brand and I don’t think it’s sexist to reject a dancer because she’s doesn’t fit that brand. I would never take it personally if someone rejected me.
What I have an issue is with people judging a woman—period.
I get asked about marriage and kids and when I say I’m divorced and no kids-oh my fuck! Now add that I’m not a collage age dancer! I’m so glad people are well mannered enough to not say what they are really thinking because I already know what they are thinking!
How I want to live my life is MY choice and I don’t owe anyone an explanation.
So thank you ladies. I would be insane without you gals.
If a woman really wants to strip at 50 more power to her, but I definitely wouldn’t want to do that for survival at that age.
