Another little thing that would have helped during my first audition: when you first enter large upscale clubs you may encounter several authoritative looking employees before actually meeting the hiring manager. When he finally came he didn't introduce himself as such so I didn't realize who I was talking to for a little while either. The situation increased my anxiety considerably and it probably came off. I was not at all surprised in retrospect, but the other 6 clubs I've worked in were smaller and the effect was intimidating. On the only stressful audition of my career, I had to make not just one or two great first impressions but five. I wasn't expecting to feel like such a newb after all my experience, but I seriously underestimated bigger city clubs.

Someone in another thread mentioned she was given a sit-down interview at Rick's. I'd never heard of this happening until then, but having auditioned there I'm not surprised. It's definitely a read up on interview skills and carry a pen kind of place. Maybe some other managers are more lax or it depends on his mood, but do it just in case.

Yeah, that's true! When I came back in town with my gf I waited at the front to introduce my gf to the manager and see if I had to re audition and there was a girl sitting by the door where you come in and they told her they weren't hiring while she was filing out the app and I asked my manager if I had to re audition ( cuz it had been 6 months since i'd been in) and he said no go get dressed.

Yes, whenever I go in for an audition, I always, always go with my hair and makeup already done. I usually only have to change into my audition clothes. I've seen girls who I've auditioned along side do their hair and makeup WHEN they got there. First impressions are everything, and I never want to look like I skipped over to the club from my college dorm after an all day "How I Met Your Mother" binge watch. But, I do need to work on my glam factor. My makeup is usually very natural and unassuming, and while my natural lashes are pretty long, fake lashes won't hurt. I mean, my makeup always looks good, but its not glamorous. Just picking up a lot of pointers from you girls as I go :)

And yes, they had me do a sit down interview lol1337a! And I'm usually so good at interviews, I always used to say "if I've got the interview, I've got the job." But hell if it didn't catch me off guard! LOL.. Even one of the dancers were puzzled, and was like "they sat you down?!" and when he told the house mom over the walkie that he was coming down to interview me, she looked confused herself. And I've worked as an assistant at all the super-super high-end salons in Manhattan for the last couple years, and dealt with their celebrity clientele, and never had a problem getting in or fitting in those places, so I think that experience blew a bit of steam up my ass. Thinking I was the shit and can survive in any upscale environment. But I guess I'll try Rick's back in a few more months when I get a bit more experience.

Yeah the last time I got hired at a selective club I wore this really cute tight little light blue floral dress with white heels and a handbag that went with the outfit. I already had my clip-in extensions and make up on. Lol when I went and spoke with the door girls she handed me an application and said the manager would be right with me, so I filled out the application and he still wasn't there so while I was waiting I dug into my bag and started touching up my makeup lol. I got hired as soon as the manager came and talked to me (after having to strip down lol) I want to look as good as possible so they know they're hiring a polished dancer.

Yeah, I'd like to state that I didn't go in the first time looking like SHIT or anything. It was still some pretty serious smokey eye makeup with mascara and my hair was straightened. It was just "college girl going on a date" (which always got me hired/made money everywhere else) rather than "high earning career stripper." I think the former could work at Rick's if you fit their idea of physical perfection, but seeing as I have hips and small boobs I had to compensate somewhere. I auditioned at Scores right after and was accepted no problem for what it's worth, but the entire cab ride was basically meditating on my swagger and plastering on lipstick, lol.

I'm not very advanced with makeup :( What felt like a full face of makeup to me was still what most people called very girl next door. So I'd go in w/ lipstick and all but idk if I should bother anymore. I just straightened my hair...never used clip ins before or anything. I mean I sent a picture w/ my usual makeup and pale skin on their online application thing and I got an email to come in but maybe they do that to everyone.

Don't bother sending in pics. Manhattan clubs have (this time of year) probably 20 or more girls come in a day. Go to mac and tell them to do Carmen elecrta, Pamela Anderson make up and maybe go to a salon and get your hair done or get some clip ins to give you that extra pop and go in!

Where does one find gowns? Do you go to stripper-specific sites to purchase or do girls wear prom/pageant-style gowns?

Omgsh I cannot stress enough search for a store with gowns. They exist! You do not want to order a dress that does not fit or looks funny. All I wear is gowns/dresses and they are not all created equal. The mass produced ones are usually cheaply made.

I've never been to it but I think Kamala has a showroom in Queens. There are usually some clearance dresses available that you could ask to try on before paying full price for a custom. If none of them work it's worth the splurge, though. And if you can't make it in person I would buy from them online over any other site. Her standard fabric is more forgiving than other brands I've tried which means much more room for error.
