So does the spray bottle technique work for dogs as well? I haven't decided if I'm going to get an older dog but I can imagine a dog to be a lot more insistent than my cat, who is just super mellow in general. I grew up with a dog for 14 years (miniature schnauzer) and I honestly don't remember needing to redirect her too often, but then again I was not camming and having to be mindful of bestiality guys and site rules.

This 'You're a kitty!" must be a thing. I also tell them this in my native language.
I'm not sure Courtney, it always works for every cat I've ever known, and while it works on my lab I know it doesn't work on my brother's dog. Might depend on the dog, they at least usually listen to 'no,' where a cat just usually ignores ya.

I have a big dog who likes to cry until he can come into my room and lay on the bed, sorry, not really a cat story lol, but sometimes between shows he edges in closer until he's lying in my cam area of the bed, and when the bell rings i'm there literally shoving him across the bed, he must weigh like half of me, and digs his back legs in when you try to move him.. Grr!
Sometimes my cat makes an appearance, but when given a VERY gentle nudge to move away from my cam zone she scratches, bites and/or hisses. My pets have behavioural issues..

Aren't you afraid the cat will fall out? A startled cat falls off of anything so easily. I live on the third floor, I never fully open the window if they are there, I always lock them in the bathroom. Leaving them unobserved, I can't even imagine it.

I know it works when they are puppies. I suppose if you use this their whole lives it should still work. Whenever I even reached for that spray bottle my old puppy straightened up real quick lol.

Hehe Thanks Kortney. If I end up getting a dog I want to adopt a senior or adult with special needs so I guess I need to start watching dog training videos now just in case I decide to go through with it.
My windows don't have screens and I live on the second floor so opening the windows is not an option. My cat often goes to look out the window while I'm on cam but it doesn't distract him for long enough to wait out my whole shift.
I'm still waiting for pet pictures of all of you with kitties! (I would post one of mine but he is SO BLACK that you can't actually see his facial features in pictures and videos, he just looks like one furry little cat shaped black hole).

Ok, here's the cat conclusion I've come to: If you can't lock them out of something, you have to lock them in something. Maybe get doggie gates and put kitty in the kitchen? With food, water, a box, and lots of toys to play with. Or put a piece of furniture or extra mattress in the doorway so they can't get in and can't hurt themselves trying. Also, if you have a big closet, you can turn that into a kitty time out room with all his food, toys, and litter.

For those of you with dogs, teaching them the 'place' command out of site of the camera works too. It will take some consistency on your part, but it works well.

My cat would yowl and destroy everything in sight.
You must have a super calm cat. They don't usually respond well to that type of treatment.

Just wanted to bump this to let you all know that SM is REALLY cracking down on the cat thing. I have been camming with my kitty occasionally walking by or being seen on cam for a tiny bit for almost two years now. My regs love him and always ask about him and tip me just for him. He was seen on my cam for about one minute tonight and as I log off, I see I was given a warning by SM support about not having pets on cam. I'm assuming I was reported by a viewer (or model) for it, since it was such a short time for them to happen upon it otherwise. So now I know I have to be extra vigilant about keeping him away...

Thanks for the bump CourtneyRaine!
He has gotten better at not howling all the way through my privates, but he still has his moments. It seems like anytime I am doing a Skype show through CMD that is when he really starts in with the howling. My guess is its because the shows are so much longer. Thank goodness the last guy was so understanding!
I got a book on cats so currently I either smack something loudly or hiss at him to get my point across. LOL!
LMAO you're actually turning the tables and hissing at the cat :)
