I've never raised kids. And...?

Agreed. All you ever seem to hear about is absentee fathers, I'd love more examples of especially divorced fathers or baby daddys going out of their way to compensate for the fact that they're not with their kid/s fulltime.
This is an interesting point.
And I could be wrong but I interpret Carmen’s issue not with her dude caring for the kid but the balance of the needs of the family as a whole.
Yes, men should take care of their kids needs but they also have to take care of their spouses/partners needs as well. If they can’t juggle and have to chose then of course the kids needs come first and the parent should be single to focus on the kid.
If you actually READ vs jumping to conclusions I said his actions probably weren’t a big deal unless he was spending hours on the tuck in every night and totally neglecting her.

I don't understand how it "FULLY" feels to be in anybody's shoes. Neither do you. ? Are you trying to say that I can't have an opinion on anything child-related because I don't have kids? Because that would be interesting.
Also, not having kids doesn't mean I have no experience with children and the raising of children, it also doesn't mean I was never a child myself and it also doesn't mean I'm incapable of grasping the basics of parenting and childhood psychology.

You are not and never have.
I have a better understanding of raising an 8 year old step kid from someone who is doing it than someone who never has.

Miss P is gonna see my reply in this thread and be like OH GOD SHE'S BACK.
For real. We have a hybrid model (3 days in the office, 2 days at home). But man, readjusting to the early bedtime, early wakeup time, getting ready / makeup hair outfit, the commute, the fluorescent lights, the inconveniences of being away from home, being away from my pets and comforts, not being able to do some chores during breaks... it's so bad. I spend my evenings just doing chores and preparing for the next day, going to bed early. Living to work. Not fun after two years of successful 100% work from home. And all so executives can... see our little faces in the office? Be exposed to covid? Ugh.
I have a super cushy job, benefits, all of that, so i really have nothing to complain about, but maaaaaaan this is the woooorst.
I saw a tiktok the other day that was discussing how even though the data showed that work from home during quaratine was just as functional and productive as it was pre-covid in-office and even though employee morale and happiness were higher, the bigwigs are still insisting on having people come back in. I'm sorry but in this digital age that is ridiculous. It's so impractical especially for people with long commutes; I know people who have had commutes that took HOURS--and each way. I feel like if you have a job that can 100% be done perfectly functionally from home and your commute is longer than 15 minutes it should be illegal for them to require you to be there. Long commutes can really lower a person's quality of life. The person in the tiktok was also talking about how when Goldman Sachs recently made coming back to the office mandatory that only 50% of the people actually showed up.

Yes, exactly. All of that. Not to mention, working from home saves gas, carbon emissions (from cars and the buildings themselves). It's frustrating. All of these old, white executives just can't let go of what they think business should look like. I literally sit in a business center and meet with people remotely + do individual-contributor work every day that I'm in the office. All of my business partners are remote to my state. So i do all of that work to get ready just to sit there and do what i could do from home.
I'm really struggling to let go of my frustration with this. Thanks for hearing me, it seems like you really understand how ridiculous this feels! ♡

My vanilla job has us come in for a team meeting once a month...some of the people have to be in more but the rest of us have the choice to be remote or not, and for me working remote works better...I don't have to deal with office bs and it makes scheduling hoe work a lot easier.

I was hoping that a benefit of Covid would be companies realizing how doable and beneficial having employees working from home would be and that it would cause a major shift in the way things are done. I was legit shocked when I heard all of the ‘back to work’ crap.

My petty annoyance: I walked over to the convenience store after cam tonight to get groceries.
When I was checking out, I told the cashier that I couldn't find the bread.
She told me they don't carry bread, only croissants ( Which I bought, yum).
Anyway, this dude at the cashier next to me decides to butt into the bread discussion.
"WHAT!" He says. "No Wonder bread? How can that BE?"
On and on.
Dude, just shut up!
Pay for your cigarettes, and walk away.
Why, oh why do guys think they own the world and everything in it? That they can stick their noses in my business?
Everywhere I go it's the same thing.
I had a horrific shift on cam, and had to deal with the worst dudes ever.
I only walked over there because I'm too tired, and still sick to drive to a crowded supermarket.
Oh, and my Rapid Covid tests arrived in the mail today, but I have no idea how to take it
The directions are confusing.
Blah.
Not a good day. :'(

They DGAF^.
I applied for this job, she called me, I asked about covid precautions, she's like, "What do you mean?::) We don't require vaccination, but social distance"? Great.

^ Yeah, the covid topic for employers is really complicated, especially when they're trying to retain their people. And especially when covid is now considered endemic rather than a pandemic. Liability issues for the company if they try to force employees to do things that aren't required by federal or state governments.
I'm sure I'll start getting sick again (haven't been sick in years!)... either covid or any other number of diseases floating around in these big business centers. I wear a mask when I'm away from my desk...

I'm frustrated with how long my ob/gyn is dragging out my tubal ligation. Yesterday they said they'd schedule it for next week. Now today they said they want me to come in for a consultation next Friday and then the annual women's wellness exam the following week first. I asked them why I need a consultation when I've already decided months ago that I want my tubes tied. They said I have to meet with the other doctor to discuss it. There's nothing to discuss! I don't want anymore kids. I'm done! I still have a copy of the paperwork from December and it expired today. Bullshit! I already signed the paperwork consenting to get my tubes tied back in December while still pregnant. They better not throw more bullshit at me with the mandatory 30 day wait after signing the consent form for tubal ligation again. If I was a man wanting a vasectomy it would be no problem. They'd do it right away. Since I'm a woman, they're putting me through all the bullshit. You'd think that my age and the fact that I have 3 kids and am unmarried would be enough for them to want to tie my tubes.

This has been on my mind. It’s popular now to “be authentic”, but as stripper, models, or FSSW we don’t have that privilege. It’s been irking me lately to see heteronormative white people talk about how important it is to be authentic. I agree it’s important to be authentic, but not everyone has that privilege to do so. It’s really turned me off the new age movement because of these inherent bias and privilege in these groups. My therapist always reminds me it’s a privilege to be authentic because it’s something I really value but can’t safetly do in a conservative culture.
Also, not everyone should have the privilege of seeing my authentic self especially if they aren’t safe.

I think these people may not even realize how snooty that actually sounds to people who literally can't afford to risk to broadcasting everything they have done in order to make it.

I can tell my period is coming because I've been exhausted and ravenously hungry at work the last couple days.
Also, how the fuck can I walk anywhere from 14-18 miles PER DAY at work - and I walk fast, not dawdling around - yet, I keep gaining weight? Wtf? I swear to god, I know I don't have the best diet, but I don't eat THAT fucking much.

I get back from dinner with my parents at 7:45 expecting J and daughter to be in the TV room ( they usually " settle " by 7:15 for bed by 8:15 ) ......
and at 7:50p.m. see them both wandering around. :(
I'm trying not to overthink because then I'll get stressed out with questions I have such as :
At 9 years old ..... is it normal to " need " J to sit in the room until she falls asleep ? I understand the good routine thing and watching TV for an hour together thing .
I guess I was kind of hoping that she would be over that and phasing that out by now. I have no idea when kids are more independent though. When can they just go up alone and read for 15 min. before bed ? I do think I see him doing shorter phases of sitting in there lately..... I'm hoping anyway.
I think a father having bonding time with his daughter and spending as much time with her as possible before bedtime is great. But at 9 years old I think a quick "Goodnight, Daddy" hug should suffice, and then she can walk into her room herself to lay herself down in her comfy bed with a comfy pillow. Sleep with the fan on if necessary...use one of those glow in the dark wall plug-ins if you're scared of the dark...fall asleep to one of those sound machines or the sound of the rain or classical music.

Yep, I agree. He should not need to be in the room after their " tv hour " 7:15 - 8:15. That hour spent watching tv together is enough of a night routine. We also provide a really high level of structure in the day ( dinner always at 5 or 5:15 whether we cook at home, get takeout, or go somewhere ).
BUT ..... choose your battles ya know. We had a big battle a few weeks ago and I don't want even a little one haha so for now I'll just not say anything. I do feel strongly she is too old for it. Thanks for the opinions overall on it. I wrote that on day 4 of a 4 day visit. On the next long visit ..... I'm gonna be out of town three of those days. I've got my departure on the calendar. :)
I do think his time in there is getting less and less ( 5-6 min. instead of 15-20 ) so maybe he is trying to phase it out. Maybe. :/

^ Oh , I thought L's daughter was much younger ( like 5 or 6 ) .
Yes ..... we did the rounds of sleep stuff but that was a LONG TIME ago ( 18 months ago ).
I couldn't figure out some things and he was hiding she wasn't sleeping in her own bed every time at 8 years old .
As soon as I found out I told him it was fucked up ( which he knew that is why he was embarrassed and hiding it ha ) . I said they should work with an expert to sort it out ASAP. We didn't even need to bring an expert in. The boundary just had to be there and it was fixed in less than two weeks. That was a long time ago ..... I knew them each about 6 months at that point . Being " behind " age landmarks did scare me. She seems mostly caught up now.
Time with my dude alone starts at 8:30ish on kid days . Good enough I think.
My parents always did something similar so I think you kind of lean towards the boundaries you grew up with too in your house. If you wanted to see hell as a kid.... approach my Mom at 9 or 10 p.m. and see what will happen haha.

God shat on women when he handed out having our period. My nips hurt and I ordered 20 bucks of a delivery for 2 tacos. I felt angry at myself for the price but I was SOOO hungry at the hotel.
I have absolutely no idea how I'm gonna pull through surgery after I'm done with school on my period. I was thinking of getting adult diapers and wearing them along with a tampon when I'm scrubbed in. Some of these surgeries last 8-9 hours and I have to change ultra sized tampons every hour during mine. Ya can't just leave to change a tampon when you're in a sterile environment. Some surgeons have a pee container if it's a long surgery LOL. The weird stuff you learn in class.

I honestly can’t believe how nasty WOMEN’S bathrooms are sometimes. I get so annoyed when the bathrooms are closed so often for cleaning at work, but considering how they look within 30 minutes of being cleaned, it’s obviously needed. Why can’t adult women just NOT piss all over the seats and leave toilet paper, pad/tampon wrappers, and seat covers everywhere?

No way. I use hotels as a 23-24 hour thing haha. Check in at Noon or 1 and late check out at Noon.
If you call around 9a.m. and ask for Noon check out I find that is best and then they know to skip your room until last.
I almost pushed my nice hotel in Vegas yesterday to 26 hours by getting into the pool area before my card stopped working at Noon with an intention to pool until 2p.m. haha ! I would have done that if my partner hadn't been ready to head towards home. I'm the queen of 24 hour hotel stays.

Like OHHH so it took over an hour for you to bring me a new comforter to the point I just had them cancel because I had an appointment BUT when you wanna kick me out at 9am you have 2 maids come to the room before checkout? Tired of it. We don't even get the room for a full 24 hours. It's like forget having me sleep in, you are totally okay with knocking before checkout on the door like you want me outta the room.
