Thanks Hayden that's really helpful. It's really encouraging to know a few of you are already seeing interest after so short a time. Do you plan to keep your current site as well as MC long term?

A dear friend of mine has NEVER shot for a big porn company, she does it all for her site. She has been around for about as long as I have 15 years. She still pulls in about $9000 a month with her site & independent cam shows.

Never done a press release & had an affiliate program to do promotions for her. Tells me all the time how lazy she is at marketing. Her tits are about a DD & really isn't a bbw or a skinny chic. So you never know.

When I started 15 years ago many told me I was to old , to fat for porn. Heard for about 10 years how solo girl sites NEVER make money when mine was pulling in about $10,000 a month for a few years before 2008 financial crash & free tube sites hit the market. I made money before there were even social networks to build a brand on, I got sales by hitting yahoo groups hard. LOL

If you know you have what it takes, then go for it. Don't let others failures to make it a success deter you. I never did. :)

Smooches,
Sam

I started my MC site about a month ago, and so far I am up to 40 members. I would say about half of them are from my own promotion and the other half from Streamate. Now that I'm finished with my move I will be looking into getting affiliates.
As a point of reference, I market the hell out of my site. 2-3 hours per day on Twitter and EVERY time I'm on SM. I also do a Ton of interactive perks that take a lot of time and effort, but for me it has already paid off :-)

I update every week with a schedule. I do at least 1 boy/girl and 1 solo video, 3 blog entries and starting this month will be doing weekly photosets, live member shows, monthly contests etc.

I've seen how active you are with promo Ivy so I know you've put in a lot of work to get those members... BUT you're also gorgeous!!! I would say at least twice as attractive as I am haha, and you seem happy showing that lovely face of yours in everything. I will be showing mine in all my private content, but not in any promotional efforts and I think that will be a major draw back.

Any way I think I have made up my mind to go for it. Just completed my sign up (finally) and sent off my ID etc. I'll take it at a leisurely pace setting everything up while I work on making content for c4s for a few months first.

Hope everyone's stores do really well x

I do content only right now for my site. Right now I'm uploading 5 times a week, but thinking I may slow it down to 3 because I'm getting overwhelmed with the amount I'm putting up and am not in a position at the moment to be keeping the upkeep going that many times a week. I've tried to do it to offset that I'm not doing member camshows (im shifting away from camming). but i think I'd do ok limiting to 3, i hope.

I've only had at most 15 members at one time but I haven't pushed it very hard at all. I'm a niche site, focusing heavily on BBW/feeder fetishes, but I have others as well. I think I need to diversify myself to attract the vanilla audience, right now I'm not sure im doing enough with the limited amount of vanilla content I have.

But I've just been dropping it on twitter every once and awhile. I tried tube teasers and that felt like a big waste. Social media and search engine traffic are the key to getting sign ups IME - I just need to try to get better at it.

I also started to submit to review sites, and imagine once the reviews go live that should help too.

BTW shout out to amanda36c for reviving this thread and getting it going again, now we have a good discussion going on. Thanks girl. :D

Okay, so I'm experiencing some suspicious behavior on my modelcentro site. You know how you can see the live feed on who's doing what on your site? Well twice this week I've seen myself (my own account) as viewing my videos and photos when I haven't even logged in to the website. Is someone hacking in to my account somehow to view my content? I've reset my password twice but it's still happening. Has anyone else noticed this?!

Geesh, I feel like a lazy ass compared to all of you girls. I don't upload regularly at all. I do binges of uploads instead after weeks of nothing plus, I only have one room I cam from so all my vids look the same. Regardless, my 30 or so members don't complain. Haven't updated my blog in months. I only push my site during free chat but, I splitcam on SM/CB/MFC so that might be why I get a bit more exposure. I need to be more consistent with content.

This same thing happened to me. I talked to MC and they told me it was a content manager checking to make sure there wasn't anything illegal or against the Rules on the site.

Hello! I have a question. I'm about to launch my ModelCentro based site at the end of this week. I want to have kind of a "grand opening" special. I will be doing a big social media blitz with lots of promotion and such. Is it possible to change your rates once the site is launched or do you have to stick with whatever rates you set?

Basically my idea was that people who sign up in the first 30 days (or 7 or 10 or whatever) get their memberships at a cheaper rate and once the "grand opening" special is over I would bump my prices up to "normal" rates.

Is this a bad idea? If so I might just do like a free custom video or something like that to the first few people who sign up or whatever.

Ahhh I really want to get open!!! I said i was going to spend a few months getting it all ready, building my content etc but I am itching to get going. I'm currently working on my own main website right now which is taking FOREVER! But it would be really good to have the two open together. What do you ladies think is the minimum content, videos etc that would be ok to open with? I currently have about 30 videos and 10 picture sets. My videos are a mix of niche fetish, jerk off instruction, and vanilla masturbation - could i put everything on the one site do you think?

Sorry I've been out for a while - busy changing my last name :)

I wanted to just quickly touch on Amanda's posts from last week. I will stay away from the negativity and simply state that I am very glad to see that more and more companies arise that give freedom and rights to the models. Just like MC has been doing since we launched in December 2013. Welcome and hope your business grows and prospers.

Welcome on board! You have full control over the pricing - so feel free to add a promo option that's limited time and than change it When you see fit. One thing to keep in mind though is - once a member joins on a 15$/month - they will have that deal until they cancel. To have the price change you'll have to use the trial option - say 2$ a week rebilling to 24.99 a month. Trials are limited to 7 days max though.

Regarding whether it's a bad idea - I don't think it is. It will help you pre-populate your website and get members commenting (free SEO juice for you) and interacting. A "lively" site with active members converts much easier as visitors can see that "things are happening" here.

Re seeing yourself in activities - we do use your own user as default, especially if you reported malfunctions and the techs go in to check. Content compliance team uses it as well at the moment.
You can log in to your site as yourself btw using your admin access.

OK so yesterday, I was informed by 2 different producer's that I could not promote my "join my site" button. They said because it was not a GOLD CLUB site, I was not allowed to say anything about my site. I want to specify that I did promote the button and not the URL but I was still told I couldn't do that!

Those $2.99 trials add up quick! It's great to offer it as a way to entice them to go for a full subscription. It's also great for guys who just want to buy an individual vid.

I was thinking about offering 7.99 for a week maybe? I also have live shows twice a month. It would urk me if someone joined under a trial and got to see me live too. Is there a way to separate access on the site based upon membership level? Like trial guys could see some videos but not all and prevent them from seeing live shows? That way it could be a selling point to make them sign up for a full membership because they don't want to miss out.

There's nothing like that in place right now...maybe an idea for the future? That's why I don't offer trials too cheap and I don't allow downloading of my videos. I had a guy go download all of my stuff when my site was new and I still had the $2.99 trial...I was livid. So I no longer offer trials that cheap and it seems to keep those types away.

OK, I don't have actual logs since the producer's communicate with us via pop ups that need to be screen captured in order for us to record what they tell us. What I will do today is get a TV show and record the process of the countdown. I'll send you guys footage of exactly how I promote the MC site button.

The $2.99 trial only gives a preview of the first 20 seconds of your videos. Not sure how they are downloading all of your vids! That's worrisome.

I really want to take advantage of the locked content feature but it's really hard to do that when I need to have the email address of the guy to set them up on MC because all sites, with the exception of MFC, are pretty strict with off site contact. Is there a way to set up a password enabled d/l to an individual video that doesn't require me to manually enter an email address and then send it to them? I guess it would have to be monetized of course.

I offer a 7 day trial for $9.99. I get more monthly, but love this price point with trial for 2 reasons. 1) A week is longer than 2 days, more time for them to not think about cancelling before the re-bill. 2.) if they DO rebill its an extra $10 basically, and if they don't ot was still $10 lol :)

Are you sure? I'm almost 100% that the trial gives full access for that amount of time.

NatalieCentro
05-15-2015, 08:45 AM
Hey PhatGirlDynomite!!! you can choose to have a Private show and only invite those members who joined on a monthly basis. To do this, choose "Private" as a show type and choose the usernames of those members you want to see there. We are also working on different permissions for different user subscriptions, but that will be in the works for at least another month.

NatalieCentro
05-15-2015, 08:47 AM
The difference between trial and membership is that a trial join option rebills to a different amount automatically (what you set it to), and a membership option can only rebill to the same amount.
There are no restrictions on members once they join - Ivy is correct.

I use the autumn skin and I wonder if they can make the countdown to live shows bigger? It's picky I know but the current countdown is kinda underwhelming. I've seen membership sites on other networks where it's like BAM! In yo face. On my skin it doesn't show until midpage and its medium size letters and the font is the same color as the rest of the writing. I suppose I could add something to my .com site with a countdown. Wordpress has an app for everything. But having a huge counter on the .xxx membership site would be nice.

Also if anyone is reading this who's thinking about getting a .xxx domain twitter seems to not favor those very much. I've had a few tweets get the "this tweet contains sensitive material blah blah blah" You'll have to use a link shortner. Use one besides bitly. They automatically block .xxx domains too.

I went live today and 0 sign ups. I am bummed :( I might try offering a trial 7 days 9.99 as currently it's no trial and no download, plus i'm more expensive than most. Oh well if it ends up absolutely sucking i can still use it as a private club for high tippers!

You cannot go into launching your own website with the hopes of having a ton of sign ups within the first few days, weeks or even months. HaydenBlue is SOOO right- it takes time because you have to bring in all of the traffic. Even when you do get start-ups, expect to have around 10% of those people to cancel their memberships per month. (Don't have the money, have a girlfriend or a wife, etc.) You have to learn to not take it personal and just work work work work work!
If you want to do some content trading, etc. PM me- and maybe we can do some affiliate promoting for each other (offer is out for any other ladies 2!)

Don't get discouraged! It will be so exciting once you start to see your hard work paying off with those sign ups!

My main motivation for having a members site right now, is not doing free chat. I do it now as kind of a storefront and to obtain customers who may have never heard of me. But I would really love to go back to Skype shows, phone sex and making content. I don't have the temperament is too inconsistent. Having a routine schedule is difficult for me. As soon as my "day job" is up and running again I'm gonna take another break from free chat. In the meantime I'm thinking of creative ways to make this members site more attractive to customers. Today I think Im gonna work on my intro clip.

That means that the member went through step 1 of registration but never actually made the payment.
There may be a number of reasons - card declined or blacklisted, nothe enough funds on it etc. If you email me the username or email of the attempted member I can be more specific. It's natalie at modelcentro.com .
