We had a significant reform in our laws regarding knives, and they are pretty much all legal now, but there are restrictions on where some of them can be carried.

Here is a S&W shield

Well, not 100%. I have wear marks and aftermarket tritium sights on mine.

No after market apex trigger?

No. I figure if I have to use it, it’ll most likely be reflexive, but I want decent low light sights just in case.

One thing you should consider before deciding to carry a firearm; women who keep a firearm in their home are three times more likely to be murdered than women who don't. Women are far more likely to be murdered by someone they know, most likely their husband or boyfriend, than a stranger. I know of at least one case of this happening.

She was an adult entertainer. Very sad. I've also seen cases on Forensic Files, where women were murdered with their own gun.

This is not to say women should never own a gun. If you dance at a club in a bad neighborhood and have to walk to your car with a few hundred dollars in cash at 2 am, it might make sense to own a gun or some other weapon that can be used for self-defense; but owning a gun does have its risks, especially if you have young children or are living with someone who has mental issues.

Would you happen to remember the episode names? I watch FF all the time.

Yeah I spent enough time dancing to have several scary run ins with people. Probably the worst part of being a dancer.

Most people won't recommend small guns with short barrels but if you need to conceal it it's easier.

Also (very crucial) read and understand the laws pertaining to self-defense in your state. In some states the courts are more supportive of the use of lethal force for self-defense. In others you can be convicted of a crime if a jury determines you killed someone needlessly (for example if that person was retreating.)

Insignificant Others

It looks like it was on Dateline too.
http://www.nbcnews.com/id/15253153/ns/dateline_nbc/t/death-dentist/#.XRI5OI8naM8

In this case, a man shot his wife in the head and tried to make it look like a suicide. 14 years earlier, this man's ex-girlfriend was shot in the head. At the time police couldn't determine whether it was a suicide or homicide. He eventually pleaded guilty to murdering both women. In the first case he shot his ex-girlfriend with her own gun.

I always carry a sort of a short metal bar that is also a little sharp at one tip. It s part of a bigger household device so if I ever need to show the content of my bag, it doesn t seem suspicious.

The question becomes whether it’s worse to get caught carrying without a permit or to not be able to defend yourself in an emergency.

There is a saying "It is better to be tried by twelve than carried by six."

What about a 60 + year old lady, who lives in the worst imaginable part of town and has to ride a bus to her job cleaning office buildings at night, and the bus operator says she cant carry with a license. You can bet they wont pay the transit police to escort her from the bus stop home, or to wait with her at the bus stop.

I’ve been trying to upload a photo of that M&P series knife I was talking about, but the forum isn’t allowing me to upload images from my phone or iPad.

That looks like a newer style. It’s weird… I can’t upload the photos I took of it, and I tried taking a photo at work yesterday of the front end loader I was working on, and that failed

A new Thai place opened about 30 miles away, and has great curry.

The Thai place has flamethrowers Also called curry.

Maybe I should carry the Navy Colt reproduction, which legally is not a firearm.

There we go. It worked with resizing, which is weird, because I didn’t do that when I uploaded the photo of my M&P9 in another thread and it worked just fine. But whatever. Here’s the knife I was talking about. Kinda ended up with an unintentional glam photo.

I forgot to mention a lot of indoor gun ranges do Ladies Night specials or discounts for women on certain days. The staff is always helpful.

I'm serious you need to know how to handle a gun in case you need to use one.

I never bothered, because I don’t take very many photos, and share even less. So I never really saw a need for it.

Eventually looking to get my cc permit . The bitch of it is that VA has reciprocity w/ all of the states where I have family ... Except for MD which is where the majority of them are. MD seems to def be one of those 'Dark Ages' states.

I second blades tho, have been carrying one for a few yrs but hopefully will nvr have to use it.
I advise you to see from the competent authorities if it is an official or administrative paper.

Which Gen? I have a Gen 4 I really like with the grip options and all. I was thinking about a 26 for CC, but ended up going with an M&P Shield 9, instead.

It’s a 5th gen.

Haven’t had a chance to try one out yet. Tbh, I buy handguns for practicality, and rifles more as vanity purchases. Though nothing really quite does it for me like the .50 MG I was assigned to in Afghanistan did. One press of that butterfly trigger and you knew I was pissed off.

The only difference that I can tell between a Gen 5 and a Gen 4 : Like a Gen 2 Glock, Gen 5 grip doesn't have the finger groove, which I prefer. Gen 5 magazine has a red follower.

Glocks are usually too bulky for carrying. The slides are too thick. I only like G42 for CCW. G26 is my favor Glock though.

For OTW with a jacket in the Winter time, they’re fine. I use my 19 for that already. Only problem with the 19 is that I’m very slender, and can very easily end up unintentionally broadcasting with that one, given the length of the grip.

It does scare me when I think of all of the crazy dancers I work with who possibly have a gun. I'm not against guns but I'm against people who are crazy or on drugs with guns so I guess I'm for more and extensive screenings for gun owners.

It is unlawful in most jurisdictions for people who are crazy or on drugs to possess firearms.

It may be unlawful, but I don't know of any safeguards to prevent anyone who is crazy or on drugs from buying firearms, unless there is record of it, that would appear in a background check.

it is but they're the ones that seem to go on these rampages so better background checks is necessary. Or, we're going to keep having these crazy guys shooting up people.
