LOL, this sounds like a scary meet and greet, just cam customer style. I think cam and porn customers are an even special-er breed. This thing gives me the creeps!! why anybody would want to go to this is beyond me!?

Hey, where'd I miss this? AVN had an award for favorite cam model? Please tell if you know. On a different note, when I looked at some of the "fans" on FB, I recognized a couple that had been banned by SM...

Whatever happens from here, it is MADNESS to announce the venue before you've got a contract. Totally destroys your bargaining leverage, for one thing. And when you're a first-year conference dealing with a $300+/room hotel, you need to make sure there's a good bulk rate in it for you. Especially if you're planning on putting up dozens of girls. I looked up a few of the featured MFC girls, and at least two of them have ~2000 camscores - how on earth are they supposed to pay for those rooms, let alone travel? My camscore is nearly 5000 and I'd still think twice about spending anywhere near that much on a long weekend.
Ordinarily, I'd chalk it up to poor planning and try not to let it lower my expectations too much, but this is not the sort of event you can half-ass. If they're this casual about their social media and event organizing, how can anyone expect them to arrange for top-of-the-line security? A camgirl con is going to attract a LOT of stalkers and obsessed fans. Toss some partying in the mix and you better make sure you have the means to protect a lot of vulnerable people simultaneously. If I were going, I'd pack my pepper spray.

I decided to sign up because what the fuck. I would love to meet my ladies at SW.
Got an email back asking for my camming info. But also asked for my legal name, address, and phone number. Real or not, is this normal for model booking for these kind of events? My real name is pretty unique so I'm a bit hesitant. Asked them if I could give them my P.O. box instead of my actual address. Not gonna give them it until I know it is legit or not.

lol, i guess really.....i don't wanna meet the custies but just all the camgirls. The ultimate meetup.
Yeah dude, I WORKED in event planning. The social media part is the easiest, most basic thing to even set up. Not easy to set up? Renting out massssssssssss amounts of expensive, beachfront hotel rooms over a busy summer weekend at the peak of the season. Seriously? That's crazy.
the twitter person/account is so ridic. I can't handle seeing a "business" or company that wants to be taken even semi-seriously ending EVERY.SINGLE.SENTENCE. with "lmao," "rofl," and "lol."
It kills me.

That is creepy as all hell.
Honestly I don't understand the point of all this... I get industry networking events like the AVNs (to an extent) but as SPC said this just seems like a meet-and-greet kind of deal. You don't really need connections to cam so it feels like the only purpose is to meet/party with fans? And while I could maaaaaybe see a few paying custies attend something like this if they lived in the area I have no doubt that it would be 99% stalkers and freeloaders. IME the worthwhile custies log on when they're horny, get off, then log off and get back to their life. Not the type to spend a weekend creeping on camgirls.

Not that I know of. AVN or XBiz has never asked for my real name to attend their events. The only thing I can think of is they match your stage name to the name you are using to pay for the event. The name on your credit card or debit card.

This still smells identical to the @camgirlMAD thing from 6 months back, which was a verified scam.

It could be a scam. The so called contract they posted online says they are having a meeting there and shows they booked a hotel room. Having a meeting there is not the same as renting the hotel for an event. The Phoenix Forum rents out the whole hotel, not just a conference room. Like I said I like the idea, but it needs to be ran by someone that knows what their doing and that has the funds to do it right. No matter, what these people have no idea how to throw an event.

I'm assuming these kind of events have plenty of security around? But I can't help but wonder if any cam girls at these events ever have an obsessed fan trying to locate her room? How is the hotel security?

I have talked with Nancy and Nadine. Nadine is the person who handles all the events planning etc.
Nadine said she had contact with a Camming convention. BUT... the client has NOT signed any booking contract with them, not a definite booking as of yet. Event in June, not booked.
Now their twitter says they signed today.... anyone?

Lol I went to Tampa for a con last year...wish I had took more than pepper spray...so I love that this convention will actually have security! Fetish con had absolutely none, and I got robbed down there and the cops never showed and that was hosted by CLIPS4SALE! -.- had to hunt a cop down the next day, so honestly this one already seems more fun and safe to me. I personally think this event sounds fun if it turns out to be legit I will be going if anyway possible.

I got a response from Cheetah Lounge and they are indeed involved. I'm still trying to get over the complete botch job on their pre-launch, and the 12 year old fanboy they had working their Twitter feed - along with their asking for real names and addresses. It looks like they're trying to get some content for their VOD business. One thing is clear, they have zero idea about camming or cammodels, going back to what Sam was saying about the AVN's and mainstream porn - very few of us want to operate in the limelight like this nor would it benefit us.
Now on the subject of cammodel get togethers without the groping fans, I'm seriously looking into the cammodel mansion thing mentioned a few threads up.

I'm with other ladies, it does not sound like a smart idea to stay at the hotel. What is to stop someone from following you to your room and forcing their way in with you? This sounds like it could be a very dangerous environment. How do thy plan to protect the girls staying at the hotel?
Camigirl
01-29-2014, 02:45 PM
Where is all this money going to come from for people to stay at the Hotel? And why does the Hotel not have a signed contract yet, while the twitter feed says and shows some papers that is was signed?
I am confused. Maybe this can be a process, but to set a date flat out as they have and have no signed contract to do this at the Hotel is very iffy.
Again...anyone? Feedback please.

I wonder if anyone is now giving money to them for an event that the Hotel says has no signed contract, or booking as of yet.

I talked to Leona and she said they didn't have a contract, but she was looking further into it. She also didn't sound like they would host an adult event with fans there. The so called contract they posted on Twitter clearly shows they asked for a meeting to be held there, not a giant event. Meetings are held in conference rooms, their site makes it sound like they booked the whole hotel. The contract they showed on Twitter isn't signed and it says on the so called contract if the hotel excepts the contract. It's a proposal, not a signed contract.

The hotel has a Twitter page, you can ask them directly about the event as well https://twitter.com/EdenRocMB Strange when Camming Con promotes the event and keeps talking about the hotel, they never once include the hotel's Twitter handle in tweets. HMMMM

The picture I'm getting is that they're basically fans that also have a video-on-demand service company and are hoping to drum up some cross-promotion for their Havoc.tv service.
They have absolutely no competence in setting this thing up as evidenced so far, and their attitude in their communications (email and twitter) have been absurdly unprofessional. Most telling, they have no actual camgirls or cammodeling professionals, or event planners for that matter of any kind advising, planning, or consulting for this. They have until June to get their act together I suppose.
At least they aren't planning on giving scholarships for poor camgirls to finish school and get a real job :)

This is the response from the hotel on Twitter. I say they are scammers because they are promoting an event that isn't even booked with the hotel. The contract they claim they signed doesn't even exist, they are unprofessional and the hotel said all they discussed with them was a meeting being held there. They had no idea it was supposed to be a huge event.

Take a look at their sign up page where a fan can "sponsor" a cam model to go to this. They are asking the fan to input the model's legal name, actual birthdate and home address in order to give them money on behalf of the model!
I can not believe they could be so clueless not to understand the danger this would be to models. I really hope a new model doesn't fall for this thinking she has to give out this information to some stalker promising her money.
Whatever organization this is does not seem to know a thing about the cam world or privacy issues or what can happen with obsessed fans.

I don't even know why *they* necessarily need all of my personal info "for their records." If they're not planning to pay me anything on a recurring basis, why would they need that? Why couldn't I just send a cashier's check in advance to cover my fees and check in under my stage name?

It's because they don't know what they are doing. The main man behind the event runs a VOD business, he doesn't work in the web cam industry. They do NOT have 17 years of web cam experience like they claim on their site. Their spokesmodel talks like a valley girl and so does their Twitter event poster. It's like a bad 80's movie. Their inability to take this event seriously is just terrible and I could build a better website.
If you do attend, please either bring your own security or stay at another hotel. I wouldn't trust them to provide adequate security since they can't even provide accurate answers for a majority of the questions asked. Their careless attitude is going to get a cam performer hurt or killed.

Wow. Wow. And WOW! These are words of wisdom to ALL of us! I don't give a rats arse if the performer is a skilled veteran, who has been to many events over the many years. This event so far as explained itself as being a shit storm that appears to be dangerous to cam performers.
Like I said take a Cam performer and put her right in front of the guy/s that perv. on her every day and you better have the best damn security along with plan B to follow up.
I agree, this shit scares the hell out of me, I fear a Cam Performer may get hurt or worse killed!! This is no Birthday party for a kid... if it happens it better be treated as serious as these events should be.
A kid running their twitter, poking fun at performers because this event has been questioned, I mean seriously. These ladies better open their eyes, take their husbands, boyfriends whoever. I would not trust this Camming Con with my nasty, ugly, hateful neighbor!

So, they got back to me. They said to check out the site on 2/1, which I'm sure we all are anxiously awaiting. ;) The form is supposed to be changed by then.
To quote the response " The site is not done yet. Check it feb 1st. It will not say that. It doesnt even work yet lol" <-------note the LOL in response to a pretty important subject like, I dunno....privacy and safety....
I did mention that many girls (aka everyone) would be uncomfortable giving customers the personal information.
Still not sure why the custie is the one intended to submit the pic OF THE MODEL. (obvs, they've prob saved pix on their hard drives but uhhhh.....this seems to encourage that. creepsville USA)
