Hi everyone, long time lurker here!
I’m 20 years old and I've been thinking about becoming a stripper for some time now (glad I’ve finally made my mind up), I’m currently in uni working as a part time cleaner, it's ok...... BUT! I’m not earning or saving enough to keep up with London.
Anyway, I was looking around on a few sites and I noticed that clubs like FYEO and SC offer free lessons or academies to newbies like me, but I’m wondering if this is too good to be true?
Have any of you taken part in these, if so what's your experience with them?
Not worth it. You just gotta jump in like strippers have been since the beginning of time.
It's scary but you'll be OK.

Thanks for the reply!
I was secretly hoping you would tell me to take the free lessons XD.
I’m really tempted to take them but if it’s not worth it I’ll just have to take a leap and jump in.
What kind of club would you recommend for me since I live in central London, do you think me going to FYEO would be a good idea or should I go to a smaller club?

LOL I can sympathize because I know when I first started I would have loved to have the opportunity for someone to teach me everything. But it's not how it works unfortunately. And everyone has different hustling styles so there's no way someone can teach you better than you can teach yourself.
Hustle Hut has loads of information too!
I've never worked in London because I don't have papers to work in the UK so I just stuck to clubs in smaller places. I don't have info on London clubs but when I was looking for info about the UK this thread was super helpful.
Your best bet is to call a couple of clubs, see what their hiring practice are like and then just jump right into it. It might make sense to stick to a club that close to home for now. I don't think bigger clubs necessarily means not newbie friendly.
Sin City Entertainment has a bunch of UK clubs listed with info about dress codes and dance prices. It's worthwhile to check out to get an idea about the clubs, although you don't have to go through the agency.

I really appreciate the relaxed but straight forward attitude a lot of people have here.
I’ll take your advice and will continue to look around the site(s) for tutorials, info and hustling tips!
*deep breath* I can do this!

There's loads of info in this thread. The basics are that yes you do need papers to technically work in the UK but you will find lots of clubs outside of big cities that do not care.

you need to have british or eu passport. you cant get a work visa for this kind of work
however like layla said there are some clubs outside of the cities that might let you work without any papers. i wouldn't really bank on it though. definitely have a back up plan

Hope this is OK to post here, I posted in the main Stripping section but didn't get a response so thought the UK focused thread might be better...
As the years roll by I've discovered I really enjoy working in 'pop up strip clubs'. Maybe it's the change of scenery, maybe it's the lack of rules, maybe it's knowing I never have to see the customers or girls again if I don't want to, I don't know but I always seem to do well at them.
Anyway I wondered if anyone in the UK knows of any more temporary or pop up clubs at events that I could go to? Or agencies that deal with them. I currently work the Cheltenham festivals and the Bulldog Bash. A friend of mine said there used to be one at Silverstone and I also heard there was one at the Moto GP at Brands Hatch in the past.
Anybody know of any others in the UK? I am happy to share my knowledge or contacts in return.

I didn't know pop-up clubs were a thing! What are they like?
Hi all! Wanted to ask a question quickly-
So I'm set to go to some auditions this week (first time dancing and I'm insanely nervous lol) and a couple of the clubs require a "long gown with heels" for me to be allowed to dance. So I've been poking around the internet for literally hours trying to find out /how/ exactly to strip a long dress off? And I'm not too sure if they mean evening gowns or maxi dresses or like, long teddies? I'm from the States so hearing that I need an evening gown (at least I think that's what they mean) just sounds so bizarre as we don't really do that out there.
Basically I am just confused as to what exactly is a long gown in these terms and how am I supposed to remove it sexily? I really don't want to mess this up I'm nervous enough as is >o<
Thanks!!

^It's actually quite stupid that many clubs require gowns but there are hardly any places to find them. You won't be able to wear a normal evening gown or maxi dress long-term but if you happen to have one that is close fitting and/or revealing and easily removable it'd be OK just to audition.
You can usually audition in whatever you have and the club can tell you where to get gowns; most clubs have someone who sells them or you could borrow one for the first few shifts anyway.

I just auditioned yesterday for a gown club and a girl who just had normal heels and a plain strappy normal length dress got hired as well.
Also am meant to be starting at secrets Euston next week so let me know if anyone works there and has tips, haha

Well sometimes they are a normal club that has been made over into a makeshift club for a special event, and sometimes in a big marquee, the Bulldog Bash has a huge 'strip marquee' with a bar, stage and 'dance room' (basically a room with plastic chairs set all round the edges!)
I guess they are not that well known because maybe there aren't many of them around! Bummer!

ann summers sells or at least used to this long lace dress. it was only 20 pounds i think. i dunno where you are but when i started dancing i went to the sex shop harmony and they have long dresses there
ann summers dress:

long stripper dresses are made to be able to take off easily/sexily. for mine i tied it around my neck and back and i would just pull the string

I don't have details but I do remember girls telling me they worked at some biker events that had strippers. Like festivals and what not.
Hello ladies I'm back again with more questions (I got a gown btw n for now it's just a simple formfitting one with a high thigh slit that I'm sure should be okay)~
I called a couple clubs (Metropolis and Nag's head, both of which everyone seems to have mixed opinions about!) and they both told me to fill out an application online in order to set up an audition. So I've done that and all, but the thing is that both applications require a picture of me. I called back to ask one sort of picture and the girl on the phone said "uhh, like a photo in your bikini or something" so I'm guessing I'm supposed to send in a photo of my full body in lingerie, but???????? Is it alright if it's a selfie? One of my flatmates could take the picture but none of us have good quality cameras on our phones? And I'm scared that the quality of the picture might cause them to pass right over my application :o(
Strip clubs in the UK are sooo much different from back home!
ALSO I'm starting to get sooo excited and really hope I can start working soon MAINLY because I found these super cute dance heels and I am in love with them bc they have a cute lol coin/notes slot, like walking on a piggy bank (I'll put the link below!)

Sorry to ask again but does anyone have recent experience with secrets Euston? Or any of their places usually. I have very alt hair and wore a wig to audition, got the job but they advised me not to wear a wig if I could help it.. but I reckon short hair even if I dye it natural will hurt my money.

because when i auditioned there they said they dont like short hair. maybe they just didnt like that particular wig that you wore

I did the audition for secrets in general, they said they didn't mind short hair at the hammersmith office and pointed out that one of their girls had shaved their head before and THEN they recommended I try euston as it would be a club with 'the right fit for me'. I don't have any better wigs, though... ughhh

Update: First shift at Euston!
I found the attitude of the house mums and other girls quite confusing, the system of priority for customers before 1am seems great until you put it into practise. Apparently I accidentally rejected a customer when it was my turn to have priority, but I was just waiting for the girl before me! There seems to be a system of secret communication I was missing, maybe just because I'm new but I found it really opaque. Only made £300 and take home was shit after commission, the bloody vouchers system was my downfall haha.
All in all the club itself was fine, I just found the staff kind of difficult and it really didn't get busy until 3am. Honestly one girl was sleeping in a booth until around then, too.
Apparently the girl I worked with for our first customer and I were basically the only people who did well... Everyone I spoke to did abominably, and apparently it's been like that all week. Isn't this supposed to be a busy period? Is this a London wide thing?

Hi I've already posted this in the newbie section but I thought more people from London would see it here so..
Ive been applying to some clubs in London as I need to fund my university studies and my current job (catering) is vary badly paid (as in I cant afford food or essentials-I ate the nastiest carrot for lunch today) with very long hours and travel which has been fucking up my borderline personality disorder, so Ive decided that stripping would be the best option for me do well in my course while making enough money to live on and it seems the job I am most likely to succeed in.
I made applications yesterday to The Windmill, The Nags Head, Metropolis, Platinum Lace, The Mayfair and The Gaslight St James and have received replies from Metropolis and Platinum Lace both inviting me to audition, Im still waiting for replies from the others. Im also interested in auditioning at Stringfellows and Sophisticats which you just turn up to audition, no application.
I was wondering what peoples experiences were in any of these clubs? And once receiving invites to audition did you chose just one club to audition at or did you audition at all of them? (A lot of what Ive read is about stripping in the US and I get the impression that the industry in the UK is different which I havnt found as much information on so sorry for the questions)
thanks for reading!

Lmao no worries. It's separate from the alphabetical list of who's gonna stage dance - the people whose turn it is gets priority on any customer who comes in, but apparently you can only refuse one customer.

I'm heading back to the Midlands over the Christmas period and am looking to dance whilst I'm there, either in Nottingham, Birmingham or Leicester (moreso the last two). The concept of dancing in Birmingham scares me a little though as it's quite a rough place and I'd fear for my safety somewhat? Does anyone have experience of dancing in any of these places and if so can you give me some advice?

Bumping this thread as well!
I've been working at Ye Olde Axe and it is actually decent money, especially on Thursdays and Fridays when the dances are twice the price, but it is quite grimy and high contact. On top of that, you only get on stage once a night (they do the whole pound jar thing) and the stage is tiny!
I just got back from a work holiday in the US (where I used to work) and I miss the actual stage dancing so much!! :( Does anyone know which clubs in London put more of an emphasis on stage performances/let you go up more?

Hi everyone! ;D Im new here and am thinking of working as an exotic dancer! i live south west london. Could someone please explain a couple things to me? I am a bit confused about the ‘air dancing’ thing - and is this a policy for all uk clubs? I wouldnt want to get fully naked and not fully comfortable with being topless either, but that might change with time. I know a lot of American clubs dont require u to be fully naked, just topless/ wearing very little. I am fine with wearing very little though. Out of interest do you think that american dancers make more money than british dancers? I am considering secrets in hammersmith maybe but i read somewhere that girls got fully nude for lap dances? Also a little confused about house fees. I know secrets is £20 but ive read different things about metropolis

hey.. there isn’t much information on this site for the uk so thought i’d answer you!
every council has a different policy when it comes to licensing for strip clubs in england. for example all the clubs that i have worked at in birmingham have a strictly no contact rule in place due to birmingham city council legislation. however from what i have seen, this is rarely enforced except for when the council decide to go visiting clubs and clamp down a bit.
i can’t speak for all clubs but every club i have worked in has been fully nude, and as far as i know that’s the case in all uk clubs. i really can’t see you making consistent money if you’re not comfortable even being topless let alone being naked. also i can’t imagine the club being happy with you not dancing nude as customers will not be happy. but that’s just my opinion.
as for usa vs uk, the general consensus is that you are always going to make more money in usa than uk. again, that’s just the general perception, i personally have never worked in usa so couldn’t say for certain.
house fees: every club sets their own house fee and it usually changes depending on the day of the week and the time you get in.
well i hope that was some help to you, as i said there is barely any uk info on here. maybe they could make a mini uk forum within it!

Thanks hun that is really helpful. As I have no dancing experience I just didnt know what to expect so thanks! I expect most dancers are hesitant to go topless/nude at first but then get used to it. But going nude is def not something i would be comfortable with to start off. I got the impression that it is only when giving lap dances you have to go topless/nude? And when you are on stage performing you wear a costume? I was watching girls talking about their experiences in the US on youtube. But it seemed like you could be mostly a performer on stage and still get paid for that? Do u know if thats true? i could be wrong.

hey, no problem. as i said, it’s always fully nude as far as i know so that would be something you have to think about.
yep for private dances you need to be naked.
on stage you just wear your dance outfit, dress, lingerie etc. it’s usually two songs per set and you have to be topless for the second song.
you don’t get paid for the stage, it’s not like in america when customers make it rain! you will only make money from selling dances.
could be worth visiting a club as a customer to see how you feel about it.

Is it mandatory that dances / VIP are low contact in all or most clubs there? I'm going to be working in UK soon and I'm from Florida, so I've -unfortunately- become extremely accustomed to high contact nude 'tampa dances'

hey.. as i said it depends on the terms of the licence as set by the local council, and every council can set their own terms. i currently work in birmingham, and as i mentioned before birmingham city council have set strictly no contact rules in place.. HOWEVER from what i’ve seen this is only ever enforced when the council is cracking down and visiting clubs. the rest of the time the clubs are relatively relaxed about it. try visiting the clubs first or just see what goes on/ask questions when you get there.

Hi everyone, I've been trying to audition for London clubs to no avail!
I applied to 23 Paul street, The Horns/Browns and Metropolis. I'm pretty sure Metropolis is no longer a thing and only opens on Saturdays now as a gay clubnight. I could be wrong but they've not gotten back to me, so who knows? The Horns says on their website that they're "always looking to take on new girls" but when I applied they said they weren't at least until the new year. I did go in to have a look around beforehand. Everyone looked at me like I was a weirdo for being a girl in a stripclub and the girls were great dancers but looked pretty bored there the rest of the time. I didn't feel like it had that nice a vibe tbh. 23 Paul Street was the only place that invited me for an audition. They were absolutely LOVELY to me and the club (more a decadent Dorian Gray style house) is gorgeous. I really wanted to work there but they emailed back saying that I was too young and didn't have enough experience.
Does anywhere know where in London would be a good place for a total beginner to try? I desperately want to get some experience.

Update: Metropolis finally got back to me and I worked there recently. Can confirm what everyone says about it being a nice place to work. The people there are friendly but it's quite a slow club and the girls who tend to do well are the ones who've been working there for ages and know all the ropes. The girls who do well tend to be the curvy and sassy ones, rather than skinny and ditzy ones (like me). One of the girls there actually took me aside and told me I was good but it was the wrong club for me and suggested a couple of others.
I liked it a lot though and it had various pros. You can upsell as much as you like. A 3 min dance is supposed to be £20 but I'm pretty sure other girls got away with selling them for £40 or even £60. It also has a decent stage and static/spinning poles, which are good if you're like me and enjoy doing stage shows/showing off pole tricks. You can also dance to pretty much anything (I danced to ABBA and Dolly Parton bc why not?). Tipping isn't a big thing in the UK since our cheapest notes are £5 but a few of the girls still got tipped for their stage shows. I would imagine that if you're from the US, this would be one of the best clubs in London to dance in.

Oh surprised to hear this! I heard rumours Metropolis had changed into a gay nightclub or something.. I think it wa from instagram but guess I got the wrong impression! I remember reading on their website stuff about a car wash area and a beach area. Am I wrong? Lol this was before I started dancing and was researching the clubs. Maybe you can clear up some of this confusion?

Yeah, I had thought that too. It's a gay nightclub on Saturdays - I've been to it and it's a lot of fun. I wish I got paid to be one of the go-go dancers there tbh. The club now opens only Tuesday-Thursday (not the best days) and most of the other girls go to different clubs or work other jobs the rest of the time.
I think the carwash and beach bits are gone. Only the ground floor and first floor (with a ball pit and private dancing booths) are used during the week. When I asked about the other two floors I was told they were "only for the gay night". My guess would be that they're only doing things that will definitely make money and the upkeep of a beach/carwash was too much.
