GREAT. ( not that i would ever use self tanner on my face anyways) but you can't tan for real because then you'll look old and get cancer, and now you can't fake tan cause it will cause aging and cancer. ridiculous..i looked it up online and it seems that its inhaling it or getting it in the eyes or any other mucous membranes that is dangerous, and it only sits on the top layer of your skin..idk, its probably not the best for your skin but i can't go to work looking as pale as i am

My skin looks great when I juice organic veggies. Get proper sleep and drink enough water.
This. The things we put in our bodies every day have the greatest effect on our health (and skin is a major indicator of health). It just blows my mind that people stuff absolute shit into their bodies every day, and then are surprised to wake up one day with chronic health conditions, acne-ridden skin, etc. The body can only take so much before it starts to break down. Then people want quick fixes to a problem that took decades to create. They try to patch up their bodies with laser treatments, peels, and makeup.
Pay attention to what you're giving your body: it can only work with what you give it. Vegetables, fruits, leafy greens, whole grains, legumes, lean meats and fish, and plenty of water. There are no shortcuts to sustainable, healthy living.
Note: this post isn't directed at you, OP. I'm just ranting! Someone in my family just went on some crazy bullshit diet (the "bulletproof" diet - like literally, what the fuck is that), so I needed somewhere to rant about this. Learning to give your body what it needs is not some esoteric concept...it's fairly fucking simple. People are just too damn lazy to do the right thing.

The best sun is morning sun. It's good for you. I get to the beach around 7am then leave at 12 or 1pm.
Also, make your own organic sun tan oil. My friend made one that has coconut oil (it protects skin from cancer), almond oil, annatto seeds, and I forgot what else. If you add the annatto seeds (which help you get a nice color!), wear an old bathing suit bc it will stain. This stuff she made gave me such kick ass color and safe for you.
This sucks about the self tanner. I'll just finish the one I have and just do pale glam at work once it's done.
When I use self tanner, I only did my body too. I'd apply a darker shade of foundation on my face to match my body. Plus the makeup bronzer. Dammit. I love being a golden stripper. It accentuates my muscles.

A lot of it is genetics + lack of hydration.
Yea, on mayo clinic it says its fine as long as you don't inhale, it still may be true who knows but it kinda sounds like a tanning place trying to put shit out there to make people still buy memberships for tanning. U know since they get all the bad reps from it aging u and all, its hurt their business

yeah i'm still gonna fake bake for work, i've never gotten a spray tan i just use creams that don't get into my nose or eyes..as long as i only do it once or twice a week it should be good. honestly almost everything out there will give you cancer, gotta pick your battles

DHA, an ingredient in fake tanners, might be bad news...
From the article:
One of the main ingredients in spray tanning solutions is dihydroxyacetone, a color additive that darkens your skin by reacting with amino acids in your skin's surface layer. Dihydroxyacetone is often abbreviated DHA (which should not be confused with docosahexaenoic acid, the healthy omega-3 fat often given the same abbreviation). Sunless tanning products often contain between 1 and 15 percent DHA; the higher the DHA level, the darker the tan produced.
Manufacturers of sunless tanning products claim DHA is a simple carbohydrate sugar solution, but some toxicologists disagree. Part of the problem is that the U.S. government's regulations for DHA allow contaminants such as lead, arsenic and mercury.
Lead and mercury in particular are known to affect brain development, and no one knows how large the effect may be on your baby, should you be pregnant while spray tanning.
A report by the National Toxicology Program1 suggests the risks of DHA remain unclear, pointing to some evidence that DHA may be a mutagen that could induce breaks in DNA strands, which could contribute to accelerated aging and even skin cancer. Another issue is absorption through your skin. You shouldn't put anything on your skin you wouldn't feel safe eating.
...
In fact, earlier this year a panel of medical experts reviewed 10 scientific studies on DHA and concluded the use of DHA-containing spray tans may cause genetic alterations and DNA damage that could lead to cancer and chronic lung diseases when inhaled.2 Sunless tanning sprays have even been found to inhibit your skin's ability to produce vitamin D, as the dark layer on your skin produced by the DHA results in the prevention of UVB absorption, thereby inhibiting vitamin D production.3 I spray tan before each work trip and I've been doing it for 6 years and my skin on my body( I don't do my face, I feel looks worse than it ever has. I looked better when I tanned in beds and used a low DHA over the counter stuff. Their is so much alcohol and extreme levels of DHA it dries the hell out of your skin. After my tan wear off I usually scrub and redo with stuff I buy but I've just been putting body makeup on instead.

I was in Ulta & there's a prod. by Derma Dr., it's supposed to work w/the sun to give you similar effects to using a red light..it's a serum, lotion, spf, etc. all in one. You can use it under your eyes too. I didn't buy it, but am thiking about it.

I got it at ulta. I'll let you know later idk where it is. Lorac and fake bake make them. I like the lorac for touch ups but it's got too much sheen and the fake bake didn't make me dark enough. I haven't used them pale though only when my tan was wearing off as a touch up,

ecotan. Its Australian, chemical free self-tan. I have also researched home made tan without toxins but have not, to date, tried one yet.

There's a lot of confusing information floating around regarding the TRUE negative effects of tanning for real ... but in moderation. Yes tanning for real increases the odds of skin cancer ... but an arguable 99% of that risk comes from 'overdoing' the exposure in terms of both time and intensity. Sunburns are obvious evidence of skin damage. But skin exposure to solar radiation is also a necessary component for the body to produce its own vitamin D and other necessary compounds. Just because the US gov't latched onto skin cancer as a reason to enact a new tax on tanning salons doesn't necessarily mean that the magnitude of risk is equally high under all conditions.
On the flip side, the chemical reactions taking place when using bottle / spray tanning agents are a big 'unknown' ... which don't yet have a long enough history to truly evaluate risk factors. Odds are that 'organic' tanning agents are more benign than chemical tanning agents based on their 'natural' composition, but that's not known for a fact either.
I have used my own 'low power' ( 16 lamp ) tanning bed for years and years. I do short duration sessions a couple of times per week. I avoid using chemical tanning agents.

Iv'e been using fake tanning cream/lotion for 20 years, I'm completely healthy and no cancer. I've been getting spray tans occasionally since 2007. Some of them do have a drying effect, but I just exfoliate more.

Chemical peels are a form of exfoliation but it's not good if you have sensitive skin, and you would have to stay away from direct sunlight for a few days or the results could be bad.Try milk bath's...
Its a particular type of Milk isn't it? I dont have a bath!
Try a pumpkin peel, its good for sensitive skin, unless you have rosacea then all you should do is gel masks.

Yeah. When I tan at a tanning salon I use the level 1 beds. They think I'm cheap. Um no those level 4 beds destroy your skin.

Do they sell Filorga and Skin Perfusion products in the USA? It's really good anti aging skincare brand, Filorga being the main range and Skin Perfusion the pro range. All their products are really rich in hyaluronic acid and it shows, the skin gets really plumped up, in a good way.

As much as I love coconut oil and milk for my skin, it was getting rough looking so I turned to products. I had signed up as an Avon rep (not recommended at all unless you need a cover story job) I bought and used a lot of stuff. This is what has worked so far- Anew Clinical Resurfacing Expert Smoothing Fluid: usually $38, can get 2 for $40 online w free shipping, unless you are a representative LOL then you are screwed. I usu this almost every day on my face and neck and it takes away any leathery look and also makes my big nose pores a lot smaller.
Anew Vitale night cream: super strong rose smell when you put it on, but stays on, the next morning in the shower I feel it on my neck still and my neck has been looking smoother, less wrinkly and younger since I have been using it.
. I use the resurfacer and the cream, i layer serum and cream on my neck (47 years old). The Anew Clinical Dark Circle Eraser feels nice and cooling under the eyes, but ultimately does nothing more than give some moisturisation. Not worth $30.
However, the Anew Clinical Absolute Even Spot Correcting hand cream with spf is great! $14.99 at reular price, you can almost always get it on a deal, it works. Cons are it is thick and somewhat heavy, obviously not as lux as creams meant for the face and neck, but affordable and powerful. I just ordered more of the resurfacing serum for myself and will get more of the hand spot remover as soon as it is on special again.
Also, I picked up a big assortment of Serious Skin Care stuff from HSN, so will report back if ther are any good results from all that stuff.
