I've just moved to Oregon from texas and I'm looking to travel around the west working at different clubs. I'm thinking 7-10 days.

I would travel a bit in Austin… to Dallas (2 hours away) and San Antonio (1 hr away) but I never really found it lucrative. Once I included travel costs, hotel stay for 3 nights and eating out to feed myself I pretty much broke even with what I'd make in Austin.

What sort of suggestions do you ladies have for maximizing my profit when traveling? I've considered making 'friends' in the clubs to travel with or even to stay with if I so happen to meet someone, but A) a bit risky and B) it takes a while to build these relationships.

I have considered the 'work while on vacation' tactic. But thats about the best idea I can come up with! :-X

Thank you ladies for the replies!!

Having a friend to help share expenses with can help, but it can also be tricky and lead to drama (or worse) so proceed with caution.

Make sure you are getting the best deal on the hotel. I have heard good things about priceline and the hotel tonight app. I think airbnb can be a good resource as well. Also check out hostels in the area, some have private rooms for not much money (but make sure you check out the rules of the place, some have curfews).

I think staying in a place for 10 days is ideal, at the very least a week. I always need time to adjust, and usually my first night at a new club isn't very good because I'm still figuring everything out. 10 days lets you get two weekends in and even a couple days off if you'd like.

agreed! Just bc another girl and I work at the same club doesn't mean we are friends. I've traveled with a 'friend' before and at the end of the nights work Id have to keep her from crawling into my bed… awkward.

I dig the solo travel anyway.

Good advice on the accommodations! A customer was talking about Airbnb last night… first time I'd ever heard of the company. Decent prices!!! Nice! Provides me with some hope on being a travel dancer. Portland, San Fran, LA, Vegas!

As far as eating, maybe I could take advantage of the "hey, wanna grab lunch tomorrow" customers before my shift.

I used to make the same trip, Dallas to Austin to SA but I'd usually end up all the way in the RGV valley of south TX. One way to save a buck while traveling is to use weekly rate hotels. Weekly hotels like Value Place are cheaper, and they have little fridges and stoves so you can save on dining out. Plus, sometimes you just need a night off and its more financially feasible with that weekly rate vs nightly.

Be careful about rooming with other dancers you don't know well. I had too many bad experiences that way. Too often cash or little things like makeup would go missing. I'd rather fly solo than room with new girls all the time. Better than drama and petty theft!

You Might try a studio apartment, in this economy, people practically give them away. At about 400 per month, you might be able to get away with just paying a months rent. Even if you leave early, it would add up to about 2 weeks in hotel. Ask for a month to month lease. They are easy to find.

hey i'm going to be in SA for the burlesque festival, and was thinking of staying an extra week or a bit longer and try dancing. How is the money around that time? Decent at all??? I know summrs tend to suck in milwaukee, as in your lucky if you make 200 a night sucky. is it about the same there??? I haven't seen anything up to date about the clubs. I have experience traveling. tattoo (well done) am fit. I'm not an extra girl, but the club I work at is vegas style...so high pressure and full of extras. whats the low down on the SA clubs?

San Antonio Clubs have turned into bikini/pasties clubs. Not sure about the lap dance procedure. They do still serve alcohol. Any time I've gone to SA clubs I've been disappointed. I'd recommend traveling the distance to Palazio… great money, great talent and busy every night. There will be a lot of competition but that's a good sign lol. Clubs in Austin are good money, low extras but high contact. I'd stay away from the new club, Down in Texas Saloon. As far as SA clubs, I don't have any recommendations, but its really not worth working there. Cool place but they don't have it together yet over there. Good luck and have fun!

Palazio is the best IMHO. Perfect 10 is also full of money potential but its on the north side of Austin. Those are the best 2 clubs in Austin

best advice based on my own experiences dancing 'on the road' ...

Before you go, be SURE that your projected earnings are going to exceed the additional travel expenses, and leave you with more 'net' income than you could have earned at a local club.

I outfitted a small truck with a camping shell so I only had to pay for a hotel or hostel every third night or so. It cost more in gas obviously to have the truck but since it was shelter too , it was worth it.

My dream strip trip; hook up a truck with a camper and travel about state to state... work a bit, vacation a bit. Perfect. Although, I'd love to work abroad, London possibly. I'm unsure about clubs in the other countries in Europe

Thats the trick, isn't it. Over the course of a week I do believe I could make more than I'm currently making. Plus strip tripping acts as a sort of paid vacation… lol

It can be done if you watch costs / are organized / pack food.
I liked to get access to a hostel every few days or so for kitchen prep.

Be realistic about what you can do in a day. I could drive about 3 hours and still work. Drives 4-8 hours were a " work day " in just the drive.

Putting together a Car Show at the Alien Cathouse Nov 1, north of Vegas, would love a couple more uninhibited women there. Fendi n Sonja are it so far. But a Cathouse is a very safe place to stay if you enjoy the paying extras. Cathouses in general make for a good tour, that properly managed can be quite profitable. Working from your own popular websight with well advertised travel dates...

Regardless love to have my show in your tour.

San Antonio sucks ass. The only reason I dance here is because I have a gas guzzler and I live here. Lots of extras are here, I never see it but nobody is really shy about talking about it. On the bright side I have only been propositioned once in 3 months. Its easy to get hired so that's a plus but ill be honest its not worth the travel unless you have a place to stay for free or low cost.

I used to travel around the west back in the day and what really helped me pay expenses was taking modeling gigs in the city I was traveling to. I would arrange paid photo shoots with photographers in the city I planned to visit ahead of time. I'd get paid an average of $300 for 2 hour nude shoot and I would usually have 2-3 of these scheduled per day. Much easier way of making money than dancing but sometimes you have to deal with pervert photographers who try all sorts of things.

Of course you can forget about preserving your anonymity if you go the route of being an nude / erotic model. Pictures I took 10 years ago are still being sold/posted on porn sites.

I started traveling 2 hours from my current hometown eatery other weekend, thurs thru sunday. I've packed easy to cook food and I stay in a relatively decent hotel with fridge and microwave. I make such good money in the big city that even after expenses I'm ahead. I haven't done the vegas trip yet. It'd honestly be more of a vacation with the perk of working. With that in mind, I could stay in vegas for a couple of weeks. I may not come out ahead but I'm sure the trip would be paid for. lol

I do want to travel done thru California to work at the big city clubs. But I've heard clubs there aren't really any good.
Also, during the warmer months, travel across the north, montana, the Dakotas, Wyoming. This is sort of a bigger deal to me. I'd love to get a camper and just park it at local camp sites. Leave the husband with the animals and hit the road!
