^tt sounds like he was just trying to make as much money off you as he could... everyone in sales does it... you got into VS and say you want a black strapless bra and they have you trying on push up bras, underwear, and buying a new set of pajamas. Guys come into clubs and want to buy a dance and we have them buying bottle service and 4 hours of CR! Its just a little more unethical to do when it's surgery, and someone's body, not just their wallet...

Every person who I've seen that has had lipo, ends up with another area on their body getting fat RIGHT after. So they end up looking larger than before the lipo surgery, overall. So like if you have it sucked out of your stomach, your thighs will often get fat. Or if its sucked out of your stomach and your thighs, then your arms get fat. And if its sucked out of your upper arms, then your upper back (think bra line) gets fat. Evvvvvvery time. Its like the fat migrates to the nearest fat-congregating place on your body that's closest to where you just got it sucked out of. So you just keep needing to go back under the knife to get more and more sucked out in different places, when these people just looked MUCH better before any lipo at all.

I do think lipo makes sense for those that have like overlapping or hanging stomach areas. Like if you've had a baby or lost a bunch of weight and you need it in addition to like a tummy tuck or something. That makes sense to me.

I also think lipo makes sense if you are a curvy/thick girl and you are lipo-ing your stomach, while wanting to maintain large hips/thighs. Because in that case, your fat won't migrate to weird areas after it leaves your stomach. But if you are a "thin" or "athletic" body type and you want to lipo your stomach, avoid avoid avoid.

But if you need it just because you want to spot treat or want a quick fix, do NOT opt for lipo or the first paragraph above^^^ will happen to you. Lipo is NOT a quick fix unless you're doing like a total body makeover with multiple procedures!

(This is about regular lipo including vaccuum-assisted lipo, not smart lipo or laser lipos. No experience with those.)

^ that's why i was thinking about it, i really love having a huge ass/thighs, and i just want a tiny bit of my lower stomach taken off. my actual waist is thin, its just the the very lower abdominal area that i hate when i bend over/sit down. maybe it will go to my boobs, that would be perfect..

I would get your entire (upper and lower) abdomen done then. Because if you JUST lipo the lower abdomen, I almost guarantee that the fat will then immediately come back and make your upper abdomen fat. I have seen that happen.

And TBH, you're probably better off getting a personal trainer & various diets for awhile or something and seeing if that fixes it. Because the surgeon still has to leave some amount of fat in an area, which means it may not even do what you want it to. Like its good for reducing (keyword: reducing, not completely removing) random small chunks of things I guess (weird lumps, etc), but there is no way you can get a flat stomach with lipo or you would be risking your life if you had literally every fat cell sucked out of an area. The surgeon has to leave a decent amount of fat behind in an area.

yeah i'd have to go there and see what he says, i'd be pissed if i paid all that money and it didn't even work. weight loss just sucks because you can't choose where it comes off of, its usually the places where you want the fat to stay that leave :/

I've heard that about lipo and also horror stories about rippling and other nasty shit... but from what I've read online I haven't heard much negatives with Smart Lipo, and liposuction seems sort of extreme for me since the area I want done is pretty small.

I'm thinking I might go with the third PS I spoke with, they quoted $3000 (so they're the 2nd most expensive, but $500 really isn't much when it comes to plastics surgery) + $100 for the compression garment. They're a lot friendlier than the other surgeon, they seem a little better organized and when I went back through what the other surgeon said, he said does "small cannula tumescent liposuction"? Does anyone know what that means?

I think I'm getting a little addicted to plastic surgery... but my boobs, my arms, and my nose have bothered me for decades now so I feel like it's OK to get them taken care of, just NO MORE after these procedures, don't want to become like Heidi Montag... until I'm in my 40s and need a breast lift or my 50s and need a face lift!

I have an athletic body type and I got lipo done on just my lower abdomen and I look perfect now. I have an ass and thighs now and a flat stomach. At first my upper abdomen didn't go right and I was swollen like crazy all over but it takes months for everything to settle and look excellent. I would never go back. Full liposuction results take months, but they are WORTH IT. Now Audrey, you said you were going for lipo in your arms....that is the only area I am concerned about with lipo. I have not really seen a good lipo job in the arms.

Has anybody here had a good lipo job in their arms that didn't look lumpy? I have seen girls that have the best plastic surgeons and I have just never seen good lipo arms. I am the same. I hate my arms in my photos too and no amount of weight training or diet will make my arms how I want them to look. I want to get lipo there but I am scared and do not know what technique I should use!

It will probably go to your ass and thighs more! Haha! :) I never had an ass or thighs before liposuction, after I did. It is so awesome! The fat after lipo goes to the places where fat is most plentiful, most commonly in your behind, like Melonie said. 1-3 months after liposuction, abdomen lipo tends to look "uneven" HOWEVER, as long as you wear the *proper* compression garments and your surgeon did a good job....and of course you work out a little bit, it will rend up evening out and you will come out beautiful and your body will look amazing!

^ as long as its not on my stomach, i'm fine with wherever it wants to go! do you have to wear the compression garment at all times for 1-3 months? or is that just with regular lipo instead of smart lipo..

No, you don't need to wear it that long. I'll tell you what happened with me so you can get a better idea. Ok, so I got lipo just in my lower abdomen. After surgery, I wore the standard compression garment they give you after surgery. Now, I have a longer torso. So, right underneath my boobs, I had an indent that u suppose could have been mistaken for fat migration. What it really was was an indent from the compression garment that was too short. I talked to an older lady I am very close to that has had a lot of olastic surgery in her life and she gave me get old lipo garment that was longer, and I got a lymphatic massage and it all went away and now I'm flat all over. Then I started a workout routine n now I'm fucking amazing! My stomach is tight and flat, I have a waist that goes in, and I have a nice shape on my ass n thighs. I always looked athletic, now guys are blown away by my figure, ask if I surf, etc. All my reviews say how athletic and in shape I am and nobody can tell I had any surgery. If you do it right....lipo can be the BEST. THING. EVER. I'm a big surgery advocate now, because it really helps I come in this industry....

^ My friend who has an athletic body like you described also got lipo. She has the perfect hourglass figure now. Her stomach is completely flat, and she has the perfect hourglass shape. The fat went from her stomach to her ass. She has big tits, a flat stomach, and a round ass LOL. Guys are all over her!

Hmm sounds like with lipo you dont really need a brailian butt lift. Im thinking about the smart lipo because i cant afford too much time off that regular lipo requires. Audrey if you do get get the lipo in LA id love to know your results turn out bc im in Sd and wouldt mind driving if its worth it.

Totally not! It will def go to your ass area. My cousin who got lipo was talking about getting fat transfer to ass pre-lipo, but then what ended up happening is that the fat grew into her thighs and her hips after removed from her stomach and upper arms. Her upper back (bra line area) apparently also got fat (probably since its so close to where the fat was removed from her upper arms), but I didn't notice. Then again its not like she was walking around naked so it probably wasn't in her head. But this was regular lipo, I'm not sure how laser lipo works.

Does laser lipo grow back the fat cells in the same place eventually? I've read the technique and it does state that the cells somehow get reabsorbed, but I wonder if they eventually grow back in the same areas that the laser hit?

i'm a little concerned with the loose skin aspect, not that i have a ton of fat to take out, but because the skin on my stomach has already been damaged from pregnancy

Small cannula tumescent lipo is when they use a smaller tube, so you can achieve more precise results. The tumescent part I think is where they pump some kind of water or saline solution into your body during the procedure so that the fat cells get sucked out more gently and you have less recovery time? Something along those lines, obviously I'm not a doctor or anything. Anyway, it's pretty much considered by many plastic surgeons to be the best option out there for lipo today.

I spoke with a doctor (on a personal level) who does the smart lipo, and she said it does work, but the results are somewhat minimal. So it could be a great, noninvasive choice if you're already thin and just need a "touch up" in one or two areas.

My understanding is that laser lipo breaks down your fat cells into pieces, which then get excreted through your urine. Sort of like the way your stomach digests food, I guess. The thing about lipo (which I didn't know until recently) is that your body doesn't "grow" more fat cells. You have a predetermined amount of fat cells in your body, and they just expand when you gain weight. So you will never again get fat in the area you had lipo (since you're removing the fat cells), but if you gain weight, it still has to be stored somewhere...

i read somewhere that when u get really big (i was 280 at my biggest) that ur body actually makes more fat cells then what u started off with and when u lose weight they just get smaller but because u now have more overall fat cells then the "predetermined " amount u might always look a little lumpy. i dont know if this is true or not tho .

I know fat cells just get bigger when u gain weight because the fat cells are storing more fat now but what i read was they can only hold so much then ur body has to make more fat cells when the fat cells u have naturally get too big.

Yesss!!!!!!!! Sounds like a dream come true for me. I'm going to get lipo next year! My hardest decision will be which doctor to go to.

I'm having a hard time judging their procedure pictures though. So many of their patients have had bad bodies before, so even though they look better after- to me I'm underwhelmed. It's like I need to see stripper bodies! A surgeon who can show taking someone from a 7 to an 11!

I don't know why everyone doesn't see doctors who specialize/exclusively do the thing that they want done. All of the good PS I've seen on my friends has been from doctors who specialize specifically on that area of the body and/or reconstructive surgeons.

I think it depends on how difficult the procedure is. I know breast implants are a relatively simple procedure compared to rhinoplasty... and some surgeons purposely run a practice where they do a number of different procedures instead of specializing in just one. And some people are just looking for the best deal they can find.

When I was looking for a doctor for my BA, I just looked for who came the most highly recommended to me. My doctor is well-known for doing BAs but it doesn't say anywhere on his website that's his focus or what he specializes in, and the girls I've seen do their boobs have looked better than most. But for my nose I looked for someone who specializes in rhinoplasty and does mostly rhinoplasty because it's a much more complex procedure.

That's true, yeah....but since you have to get reallyyy big for that to happen (fat cells can expand to something like 4-6 times their original size), I doubt it's much of an issue for most lipo patients.

@Audrey, have you been to realself.com? It's a website where people discuss the procedures they've had, and their experience (whether or not they felt it was worth it.) A lot of them post before and after pics too. There are literally 1,400+ reviews on SmartLipo alone.

Does anyone have any up to date info on getting lipo in Thailand at places like Bumrungrad? Which doctors are the best etc?

I'm in pretty decent shape, but I have an apple body shape naturally, and it makes me look heavier than I really am. I want lipo on my stomach, waist and back so hopefully the fat will go to my ass and I'll get an hourglass figure.

When I was first consulting with surgeons for a BA several years ago (I didn't go through with it then, but I'm planning to during the next summer dead season), one of the doctors offered to throw in "just a tiny bit of" liposuction in my armpit area for free. Well, not really free, but included in the $4800 he quoted me. Is this standard practice? I've always been self-conscious about the little fat deposits under my armpits in the front, and like the idea of recovering from two procedures at the same time, but hearing a doctor suggest an additional surgery and offering to do it for no additional charge set off a little alarm in my head.

Yes I mean the shape of my body is decent. But th feat totally relocated, so if I gain weight it goes in more obvious areas. My extra weight goes in my breasts, buttwaist, stomach back and thighs. In the past, it only went in my hips, inner thighs and breasts. I had my hips and inner thighs lipoed. And my breasts are already huge so, I know it might sound weird but I don't want them bigger. They just make my whole body look humungous in clothes. I also heard cool sculpting is similar to lipo.I think I would just diet more if I could go back and do it again. Well, I was warned!! Many dancers who had lipo warned me not to get it. Lol!!!

I also heard cool sculpting is similar to lipo.

^Cool sculpting doesn't produce as fast or as visible results :( (but the fat doesn;t relocate either). The results are extremely subtle and they recommend 3 sessions (so it ends up being as expensive, if you have a few areas done, and less noticeable than lipo). I've had two sessions, and while there's a small difference-it's only really one I can notice. If you are slim only need one area done (i.e. pooch or other problem area) then it would be cheaper. There's not any real downtime (you will be sore, possibly bruised and swollen for 1-2 weeks. But I was back in the gym and had returned to work after 2-3 days). But, if you need a few areas treated lipo will be more effective and cheaper in the long run.
