When it comes to my skin I definitely have to "splurge". I am not putting any cheap foundation on my face because it's way too sensitive. I started using Clinique acne foundation and I LOVE IT! I break out easily so was always too scared to wear liquid foundation and this foundation has never made me break out even if I fall asleep in it. It has salicylic acid in it so I'm sure that's why.

I also splurge when it comes to mascara. I love Diorshow and this urban decay kind I got a sample of. I also splurge with my lips (MAC lipstick and liner, there's a chanel lip liner I love too). The only eyeshadows I have are the Naked palette and another palette I got from sephora.

My everyday powder foundation is Aveda, which I also love because it never makes me breakout. I have concealer from there as well. I also have bronzer from Sephora, but I forget the brand. I've been wanting to try something new though.

I "save" when it comes to eyeliner.. white eyeliner for the corners of your eyes can be any cheap white stick & Maybelline gel eyeliner works pretty good as well and is cheap.

I don't wear much makeup but I guess most of the basics I do wear are "splurged". I think if you only have the basics they can be nicer brands, they do last a while so it's worth it to me.

It is definitely worth the splurge.

My foundation Is dermablend
Primer is porefessional from benefit
Eyeshadow is urbanydecay naked 3 pallet or naked on the run. I also love too faced chocolate bar.
Mascara is lights camera flashes by tarte
Lips are usually just some sorta lipgloss

Buy good brushes, they're more important if not as important as the makeup you choose.

I use a combination of Ecotools and brushes from MAC. MAC brushes are great but they are overrrated imo. Depends on the brush though. I bought a foundation brush from The Body Shop that was just as good and cost like $20 less. Ok, maybe not $20, but it cost like $10 less.

I use Bobby Brown makeup mostly. But I use Covergirl mascara because I like the shade blue black on my lashes. And I use NYX on my lips. So I guess splurge on everything.

From the drugstore brands, I really love the Bourjois products (CC cream, mascara) and Rimmel (the Kate Moss range lipsticks, Match perfection compact powder). I also love Avon eye pencils and liquid eyeliners.

I splurge everywhere except for mascara but I'm getting eyelash extensions starting next week. My skin is super sensitive and acne prone so I can't put drugstore makeup anywhere near my face. I've tried Rimmel and Revlon and they both broke me out :( I occassionally buy a drugstore blush but I haven't liked any that I've tried.

About brushes, they are totally worth the investment. Think about it ... spending $30-$50 on a brush that will last you a LOOOOONG time (if you clean it and take care of it). I really like Lancome brushes.

Yeah I also agree about brushes. You'll have them for a long time you might as well spend decent money on them! I buy all my brushes from Sephora. I used a cheap brush one time when I lost my makeup and it felt like it was scraping my skin because the bristles weren't as soft as the ones I'm used to.

Has any one tried the Glamglow mud to cleanser yet? Freaking amazing.

Once I started using expensive brushes I could never go back to cheap ones, especially for doing my eye make up. I feel like brushes are the most important thing to spend on. I love MAC brushes.

So many people say drugstore mascara is just as good as expensive mascara but I don't think so.

My Lancôme vibrating wand mascara never clumps and easily makes my lashes long. Pretty much better than the less expensive mascara. The only drugstore brand mascara that kinda comes close is covergirl

Vibrating? Hmm. Yea, I'm pretty eh about most mascaras I've tried..using Benefit They're Real, Buxom minis (great for lefties) & CG Bombshell which I like, but after getting 1/2 thru it, it doesn't seem to work as well as when I 1st bought it.
I want that bent wand one I think it's by Lancome

Yeah the vibrating feature removes the need for the 'press and wiggle' technique. Somehow it wraps mascara onto the lashes more efficiently.

Dunno if anyone has posted this but Too Faced Mascara....Better Than Sex....AHHHMAZZING!! I am a mascara junkie and I have pretty lashes to begin with but this stuff has me saying "OMG" to quote Usher. I had eye surgery almost a year ago and with all the eye drops I had to use my lashes were slowly getting icky so I started wearing falsies, which I hate. My gf turned me onto this mascara and they have a fiber one too....again amazing! I swear not only does it go on fantastic to begin with you don't have to goop it on like others to make your lashes pop, but when I take it off at night, it just goes! My lashes also look dark and conditioned as well...which is something that has been missing :/...anywho, that's my pick of the day...and superbalm lip gloss from clinique.....lol I used to work for them and well I prob spend more money on lipgloss from then I do on in make up alone in one year :/

You can get it at Sephora :)

I love covergirl lashblast fusion, but I think the brush on the mascara makes more of a difference then the actual product itself. I love the lashblast fushion brush really.

I got a few gift cards for xmas & I used them at Sephora. I bought the Urban Decay Naked earth tone eyeshadow palette & I'm in love!!! I also bought the Nars concealer in a tube which is also amazing. That's the first time in a while I've actually splurged on makeup. I use Mac mineralize powder on top of Estee' Lauder double wear foundation (which I get free samples of at their counter :)

It all depends on your skin type and needs. I find that what helps makeup look the best and last the longest is the primers and setters. I love Urban Decay's eyeshadow primer, it makes even cheap drug store eyeshadows go on smooth and last all day, without creasing. It is $20 and worth the splurge. I also love their setting spray, it helps keep my makeup in tact. I think its important to invest in good skin care products too. Eye makeup, you dont need to splurge on, you can get great stuff at the drug store (like covergirl lash blast mascara). Lip products, I would not spend a fortune on, but I think you should splurge a little. Cheap lipsticks and lipglosses dry your lips out and look trashy.

The only products I buy as cheap as possible are lashes and nyx jumbo pencil in milk for an eyeshadow base.

I definitely recommend using urban decay eyeshadow primer because you can get away with cheap eyeshadow when you have a great primer.

Like others have said your foundation will last all night if you use a good primer(Benefit, Smashbox, Tarte), setting powder(NARS crystal powder, Makeup Forever HD powder), and setting spray(MAC fix+).

Has anyone used more expensive lashes before like from Mac? I follow a girl on instagram who swears by her Mac lashes and I thought of trying some. They look really nice and supposedly last a long time if you take good care of them. Usually I just buy cheap-o ones from the drugstore.

My hairdresser got some Mac Lashes to wear @ a wedding reception..she said she liked them but the glue irritated her eyes.

I used to buy them on occasion, there's even better ones out there, like http://houseoflashes.com

I gave up on expensive lashes though. I think cheap ones look just as good if you apply them right and you can reuse them if you're gentle..I always feel like I'm going to get pink eye if I reuse lashes though, so I never do.
