Please.... please... please.... don't "adapt" to $0 gold shows. This is one "adaptation" I refuse to go with and I really think others should too.
There's a reason why $0 gold shows were all over the place and a couple models would ONLY do $0 shows... well those models don't do them AT ALL anymore. And there's a reason. They don't make you any more money than if you were to charge! Also, whenever I see a model doing a $0 show, I'll keep an eye on the count down and MOST of the time now, they restart the show with an actual buy in higher than $0. So, maybe it's a gimmick to get traffic to the room? But one thing is for sure - you will make more by charging. Even if you only charge $1!
Please, I beg you! lol :)
This is what I was thinking.
Gold shows are an income killer. When I tried to do them all the time, I was worn out and exhausted.
You need to be on more than one site. You need to diversify. Find something that works for you. There's a way for you to make more than enough money.

^^To You And Sarah,
I didn't do the 0 gold show. It was just an experiment, as I had stated, and it the outcome was what I had suspected - Traffic generated right away, and all freeloaders. (I cancelled it, and went back to what I usually do). I would only do them if that's what SM requires us to do.

The 0 gold show is the lowest hanging branch. It will attract all the freeloader etc, hell i only do gold shows when im posting clips as a voyeur anyway... and can pull in 150$ - 300 a week just on that alone, at 5$ a head... There are ALL types of guys on sm, and most of them could give a fuck about gold shows... if they wanted that theyd go to a tokensite. our guys want that personal attention they cant get everywhere.I know it gets stressful when its slow, but u really have to put ALL of that out of your mind. dont worry whos on the first page, or whos doing 0 gold shows, or any of that. Just get on and do you! plan how many hours ur going to spend on, and dont count the minutes... i do sooo much better when i dont even check my recent earnings...
If its slow i pretend its busy, if my room is empty i talk to myself like it was a full room, they dont know, i may be splitcamming. its just all about ur mindset... I try to stay upbeat and put all that heavy shit on the backburner til my shift is over =) even if i dont make a killing, at least i didnt stress myself out.
i saw the op saying something about sm being ur only income too, have u looked into clip sites like c4s? i tape most of my sm shows and post them on my main fetish site, then i actually make clips for my niche site and i get big bucks around the first of the month. it helps with the sm grind because u have a safety net. but u prolly already know about that =) just trying to help =)

It is NOT bullshit. If you spend all of your time turning in models they DO suspend performers. Why would they want to keep you? You clearly aren't working and all you do is tattle on other performers which causes fights. I wasn't even talking about the performers you mentioned.
Not to be mean but you seem to focus a lot of time on what other performers are doing. If the site had an issue with it they would handle it. You can't change the site to be what you want, it's not going to happen. I wish performers didn't break rules, but I dont have the time to monitor them and frankly I'm not paid to watch them. I worry about my room and making money.
Thank you for posting this. I remember three incidents which was why I asked for clarification. Streamate will not suspend a model for self policing the site or for reporting those who break the rules. I remember when I first started SM, it's actually pretty hard to get kicked from there. You have to be doing some really stupid shit to get kicked off. A couple of the top models were going at it and trying to get each other removed from the site. All of them were stealing traffic from SM and taking them to ifriends for the 100% payout. They are all still on the site.
The girl with the blog was in trouble for distributing unlicensed content. She was taking screen caps and using them to promote her affiliate links. She was also bashing and harassing other models, not limited to her blog but she took it a step further and was entering models' chat rooms. Perhaps her explanation to you skimmed a little information from the top thus leading you to believe in her innocence.
The third incident had nothing to do with the reporting of another model. It was an unfortunate event where a model was visibly psychologically unwell. Her paranoia brought her to some very dark corners of SM, one of which was feuding with the wife of someone who works on the back end of SM. In some respects she was justified but where she went wrong was to bring it out into the public. Had she left the infighting in a non public setting, she would still be on the site.
When I first started camming I was pretty obsessive. Shaun told me I should invest some time into watching other models to get an idea of how I would like to kick off my career. I would literally spend as much time off cam as I would on cam, watching and taking screenshots. There were days I would cap as many as 20 models breaking the rules and I sent each and every one of those photos in. I did it for a good 6 to 8 months. I was never once scolded, warned, suspended or otherwise flagged. To say Streamate bans models for turning other models in is complete bullshit. It's a bold face lie.

DITTO exactly--that's kind of what I was trying to say a few posts back.
Streamate and other sites do monitor the models--and they do suspend them for violations.
I have watched other models rooms, and I've seen some stuff on Streamate that I found questionable, but I don't make the rules and I don't work on the administrative side--I'm a performer.
I'll admit, I watch to get ideas for my room--sometimes I'm just trying to see how their room is set up or if they have a great prop in free chat--what are they wearing--I'm just trying to keep my camera feed fresh.
I'm not going to waste my time taking screen shots and turning in other models--it's not like I will collect a bounty fee for it--so why spend time doing that.
It's not going to earn me more $$$--and I do need more of that

i tend to agree, i'd feel a little creepy lurking in another models room without her permission... sitting around trying to get other models in trouble seems a little desperate, no offense.

It is. One of the performers was suspended because they said she broke a rule. This is a performer that supports her family by herself, so a 24 hour suspension is a huge deal to her and her family. Sadly SM couldn't provide any actual proof she broke a rule. If you are going to suspend a performer you should have a video or screenshot to prove it, not just the word of another performer.

I was hesitant to post what happen last night, but I will. Since this thread is a little on topic, and JaneBurgess his it on the head with the last post.
Most of you already know I was cam with my girlfriend here and there. I've gotten approval with Liz and the site to cam with her back in April on my account. She was already a registered model before hand. So they had all her info needed. Not only do we do gg shows because of the money, but I can still work and spend time with my girlfriend. It's really convenient.
Last night, while camming together. Having a fantastic night. Then boom, middle a private and a error happens and we get kicked off. I got hit with a 24 hour suspension for having "an unauthorized user." This was bullshit. Because she has already been authorized. I've been on the site for almost 2 years, I play by the rules all the time. If there are any questions I email the site asking beforehand. If they say no, I respect it. This hurt me so much because last week I was sick and couldn't work at all.
Now why am I telling you guys this. Because while emailing Streamate back and forth, they've explained what happen. Someone reported me, without knowing I already had the okay with Streamate. Since we know some of support can be utter shit, they overlocked the noted account and hastily suspended me. Someone fucked with my income because they decided to get me in trouble. This is why models shouldn't do this, it's fucked up. I didn't do anything wrong. This person FUCKED with my income. I'm pissed. I'm really pissed. Around 3am, they resolved it and my account was unlocked. They apologized heavily for the mistake and make sure this wouldn't happen again.
I'm posting my experience hopefully to let people know THIS IS NOT COOL! Unless the model is fucking herself in freechat or showing her baby on cam. Or doing super illegal shit.
edit: I got suspended around midnight, I was planning on getting off in a hour anyways. But you guys all know, that one hour could of been the best hour. So only suspended for 3 hours total.

I believe the models that report other models constantly are just jealous of their hustle. I mean, theoretically, someone can report a top model known for hitting $200 gold shows to try and take the traffic away from them.
Why spend time reporting people/watching cams constantly when you can be making money yourself? I understand viewing other cams to an extent to get an idea of how others run their shows. Sometimes you'll learn some interesting tactics and use them for yourself.
However, viewing cams and interfering with their income is inexcusable. If Streamate has an issue with how a performer is running their show, THEY will interfere. Generally, the site is more concerned about how to raise their profits..so suspending a top performer is also suspending Streamate's profit. Hence why the site may get annoyed with models who continuously report.
There was a statement above delivering the idea of underage users viewing shows for free (0 gold shows.)
This happens EVERYWHERE. What makes you believe that it affects only Streamate? I'm almost 100% positive token sites have PLENTY more underage users then Streamate. This is especially since Streamate is a Private Based site, where linking your credit card to sign up is mandatory..token sites? Click on a model, watch their show. No signup necessary.

who the heck...if it is was another model, that is ridiculous. I have a friend who's FB was reported so much, that FB disabled their account. He was being harassed on FB, like seriously harassed by someone--who seems bitter. Not cool, it's a whole drama thing with some musicians--it's not cool because his profile is his business, his contacts and his fans and he connects with FB of course.
Even losing a days income, or a few hours sometimes could mean disaster--sorry that happened.
For real--Streamate and the other big camming sites, DO monitor their models--sheesh. Hope you're back to broadcasting

Because occasionally I work with other models approved or already cam on SM> ALWAYs hit up Liz & let her know. 24 hours notice as a way to prevent problems in the future. :) A fresh note on your acct for such endeavors is a good thing,
On another note there are much better things to do with your time to report other models for those reading this & are guilty. It is bad karma. You are putting negativity out into the world that comes back & affects your income while camming. There is enough negativity we have to deal with custies on a daily bases camming & such. I can't understand why you would want to bring that into your life.
Give your custies all your energy & great cam shows. Build up a huge client list that everytime you log on you bank. :) It works. Be your best to get the best out of any cam site you work on. There are many gals with big boobs with their tits out, I find when I cover mine up more I get more privates & exclusive shows so the guys can see them. It is what works for me & they are doing what works for them.
Smooches,
Sam

I think it's so funny how... when I talk about $0 shows... I always get models unfollowing me on twitter.
No hard feelings gals... But some models take things personally I guess? I don't mean it personally when I talk about how bad $0 shows are for this industry. So.. yeah. Kinda silly.
Now I have trolls in my room tonight... lots....
And I see audri got reported.... waiting on my turn LOL!

That's sad they have to troll you for stating what you feel. We should all be able to talk freely without having to worry some jackass will turn us in because they are pissed at us. Some of these so called ladies need to grow up.

Not defending 0 cost gold shows but it's impossible for anyone to view a gold show without an age-verified member account, even the zero dollar ones.
You have to be signed into a member account.
I'm still shocked that some of the sites that allow xxx shows with no verification have not been shut down, especially the ones based in the US.

It's pathetic and disgusting that someone would do that to a peer. I'm so sorry it happened.
I do wanna add one comment regarding the line in bold quoted above re: fucking herself in free chat. I know some chicas deliberately choose to do that, but I also wanted to add that quite a few times here on sw I've read posts by chicas who NEVER break that site rule, mortified because a site glitch caused them to appear in free chat when the chica thought she was actually in private.
If someone had been mean and petty enough to report those chicas they may have lost out on income due to suspension as well, through absolutely no fault of their own. If the argument of the 'reporter' is, 'well, it wasn't a glitch, she does this all the time' my take on it is this: if you're creeping a chica's room enough to be able to ascertain what she does 'all the time' you're not working enough. Aside from actually getting on cam oneself there's clips, promo, social media, personal sites/blogs to be attended to, all of which bring in $$$$ that one doesn't make sitting in silence plotting against ones peers. I would kill for 8 extra hours in every day and I know I'm not alone in that, where the 'reporters' find the time for this silliness is beyond me.
glad you got the situation cleared up quickly Audrey but still, just....smh.
They need to suspend the model who thought it was cute to report you doing nothing wrong.

They need to suspend the model who thought it was cute to report you doing nothing wrong.
If only that would happen.
My friend that got his FB deleted, just happened 2 days ago. It's NOT cool at all. He needs to make money for his sick mom--she lives in Europe, he lives in the US. His profile is his main page--he doesn't even have anything to do with his business page--like his past contractually obligated managers run it, and he doesn't benefit from those pages.
He was being harassed by another musician who is incredibly bitter about the 80s. I don't know how the other guy did it--but he managed to report enough on a profile--that it was deleted or disabled.
Seriously, we're all on the same boat here--and KARMA IS A BITCH.
It will get anyone who thinks it's ok to fight dirty.
We all need to survive--and camming IS NOT AN EASY GO BREEZY gig.

Yeah that is a nasty glitch. It does happen sometimes and it sucks. When I first started, I got glitched in exclusive for like an hour. Guy was still showing up in paid and my chat wasn't updating. Turns out I did a show in freechat for like 30 minutes. And only got paid for the 3 minutes he was in exclusive. If this ever happens, let SM know asap so you don't get suspended. In my case, since I was stuck in exclusive, thought I was doing a paid show, they made sure I got my %35 for that show. They own up to their glitches. I like that :D.
I also want to stress, I don't think there is anything wrong watching cams on your down time. For inspiration, curiosity, or for fun. I watch a lot of ladies before I get on to get a feel for the traffic, to crush over, or watch their hustle. Especially if there is a girl banking, I find myself sitting there cheering her on from the sidelines trying to apply eyeliner.
