I believe 10% of rape accusations are false.

I choose not to blindly believe anyone who accuses someone of a serious felony that carries 10 years in prison.

People are innocent until proven guilty.

10%? Try .06%

Aside from the sexual assault issue, I just hope Shia gets help. I read his dad was a hardcore heroin addict & that kind of genetic tendency for addiction (one parent addicted) is a dangerous issue to play with....I know someone with loads of money lives "in a different world" and is surrounded by enablers. Hopefully someone will care enough to help him get clean.

Yeah right. Even hard-core feminists put it at 2%. The FBI quotes 8%.

Honestly, the issue of whether men can be raped, and whether Shia is telling the truth, are two very different conversations.

I agree wholeheartedly and think that, while we can discuss male rape, Shia's allegations should be off limits because we are neither party, investigators, or a jury. Even if some rape allegations are false, the overwhelming majority are truthful and doubt or dissent for the victim can have horrendous psychological consequences. Assuming that he is telling the truth, which most allegations should be assumed until there is relevant reason to the contrary, how would any of us feel if the general populace called us liars or otherwise didn't believe us after we were raped?

13 year old boy, 19 year old woman. Plied the kid with alcohol and took his virginity.

I may not have been forcable, but yes 34 years later I do in some way, feel that I was raped.

It was my Dad's girlfriend who later became my step-mom.

I'm really glad you shared your story (and sorry that this happened to you). It's easy to forget about all of the less obvious rape scenarios. We tend to think of rape as this extremely violent act and forget about the many shades of grey surrounding the issue.
