I think they're kinda cute..I saw on tv about a lady that had 2 of them, & I think she slept w/them @ night.

I apologize in advance for using the R word. I realized that calling California retarded is an insult to retarded people.
I have an acquaintance with several adults who are mentally handicapped - the people who bullied them as children used the word retarded to degrade and humiliate them

Cavies make wonderful pets and they can be affectionate and lovable. Unfortunately, pet stores supply horribly tiny cages that are simply nowhere near the size that a gp cage should be! Guinea pigs are also very social and need to be with at least one other piggy to be happy. There are ways to cat proof a GP enclosure but you do need to be extremely diligent. If you want a more dog-like rodent, I highly recommend getting two Dumbo rats. Males tend to be more mellow, females tend to be better at learning tricks. Dumbo rats are not as active as regular rats and in general are more affectionate and laid-back than most other breeds of rats.
