^ I have heaps of yours in my collection. This thread is like my personal library. Lucy was very good. I liked Babadook to but had read a spoiler beforehand- I found it more creepy than scary tho.

Loved flatliners. it was on chiller the other night. Ai very good too love jude law. I surprisingly liked minority report( even though tom cruise was in it. Lol. And I was going to suggest mr. brooks ( kevin kosner was good and hot in the movie) but it was more suspense. But the daughter thing. Good twist.

I'm really surprised no one mentioned Gatika. Very good sifi and I'm not really into it. probably one of the best and it's were Uma thurman and Ethan hawk got together.

oh and I forgot one I stumbled on one night Equilibrium with christian Bale. Anything with him is good and it's scifi. Oh and the interpreter with nicole Kidman. Also a movie i didn't think i'd like i did. Funny movies I usually wouldn't think I'd like I end up really liking and ones i think are going to be great aren't.

Hey michele11 for someone that "doesn't like sci-fi" you have an eclectic taste. Both good picks.

^Thanks I know I spelled gattaca. It's been touted as one of the best scifi movies. It has to be a good movie since i really don't like scifi and I liked those two a lot.:)

Some more...
Wirards was a mid seventies animated fantasy...kinda psychedelic.
A Beautiful Mind..true story about a Nobel Prize winner. Who was nuts.
The Sixth Sense...gotta watch it multiple times to catch all the subtle foreshadowing.
Did anyone mention Tank Girl?
A beautiful mind very good. waking the dead with jennifer conelly also very good avante garde type film. sixth sense good thriller , weird movie. I would compare it with the others. another good m night shalymalan fil was the woods. Very weird.

I think we all made a 'Black Mirror' case..
As far as comedy goes, this is not sci-fi, or super avant-garde, but 'Broad City' is great.

Logan's Run for sci-fi too.

The Forbidden Zone is quite amazing. Make sure to watch it in Black n White and not in color.
Also if the theme song sounds familiar, Danny Elfman recycled it for Dilbert animated series.

OMG! Forbidden Zone was my favorite movie in HS for a while. Awesome soundtrack too. Nobody else I knew liked it though. Hope people give it a shot.

Awesome suggestions. I saw Black Mirror, and the first episode grossed me out too much to continue watching the rest of the season.
I want to watch all the other cool suggestions though. This thread rocks!
Another awesome avant garde and slightly odd, yet amazing & mind-blowing movie is Zero Theorem. Anyone ever see it?

"Her" with Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, Rooney Mara, Olivia Wilder, Scarlett Johansson - its actually making the rounds on HBO now.
Set in the near future a guy (Phoenix) falls in love with the voice of his computers new OS (Johansson).

Saw Westworld as the second part of a double feature in a drive-in, Jeremiah Johnson was the first part. I like a number of Yul Brynner westerns, even though he had a number of different roles.

Yule was also one of those old school actors that kept himself in amazing physical condition. Brian Keith was the same way, "ripped" until he got cancer and took suicide rather than a painful lingering death.

Awesome suggestions. I saw Black Mirror, and the first episode grossed me out too much to continue watching the rest of the season.
To be fair the first episode was the only straight up gross-out premise (they're all mini movies). But if you're done, you're done!

Ita! Yul Brynner was so dreamy. I love watching videos of him on stage. It's amazing that at one point he was singing and dancing and acting up a storm with only one lung and it didn't appear to phase his performance at all.

Lol. I had a crush on him when I was like 10. He died of lung cancer and didn't tell anyone until the end. He came out about how smoking killed him. I also watched King and I. Was the first movie I saw him in.

Incedentally, the guy that directed Zardoz also directed Excalibur.
"Excalibur" is farking AWESOME- a morbid, cruel and graphic take on The Arthurian legend. My fave scene is Arthur's last one with Gwinivere- he goes out in a manner befitting a King.
(& Yes Yul Brenner was the Man. btw my fave porn nickname for Russian dudes is "Tul Brenner." LOL Too much sexy, too much!!!)

Just watched Kingsman, it was way better than it had any right to be.

This is a bit of a tease as it isn't even a series yet, but I recently watched The Man in the High Castle on Amazon and would highly recommend it. It's had great reviews and has the go-ahead to become a full series, can't wait!

Undercover Blues - great funny action movie
Terror of Tiny Town - the cast of the movie are the Munchkins from the Wizard of Oz. The movie is a western.
The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra - every bad B grade sci-fi movie cliché you can imagine

The Cabin in the Woods. It's one of my all-time favorite movies. I make everyone watch it when they say they haven't seen it. It used to be on Netflix, but sadly, I think it got taken off. (Not a comedy, but one of the best twists I've seen lately)
Ghost Town is a not-well-known Ricky Gervais comedy that I also consider a fav - it's hysterical.
If you like weird British comedies, I recommend Lesbian Vampire Killers. It's stupid as hell, but the kind of stupid that I find hilarious and I legitimately enjoy watching it. James Corden is in it.

Sorry but I hated that movie. It was so boring. same repetitive thing over and over and the guys going down in whatever. worst movie ever. No dlalouge and her accent was attrocious. Goes to show the different tastes people have.

It is funny enough to be a comedy, mostly because of the amazing Joss Whedon dialog.

I was gonna say it's kind of a comedy, but I didn't really know how to explain how it's funny when it's not like "hahaha" type funny lol
