Ew, my name is on there and I haven't cammed since July. He used this name as well as my old camming name probably to get maximum SEO. Gross.

So I got emailed again from them about possibly speaking. i said I would need to discuss details of that over skype. This is how the convo went down.
[12:36:33 PM] *** Ron Lee would like to add you on Skype
Hi, I'd like to connect with you on Skype. ***
[12:37:21 PM] Minnie Riley St. Claire: Who are you ?
[12:50:08 PM] Ron Lee: You emailed yesterday and asked to contact you re: teaching a course at conference
[12:50:28 PM] Minnie Riley St. Claire: ok just making sure I get a lot of random request sometimes
[12:51:11 PM] Ron Lee: Huh
[12:51:41 PM] Ron Lee: Alright my message said who I was at first but now that were past that. :)
[12:52:05 PM] Minnie Riley St. Claire: yes
[12:52:13 PM] Ron Lee: So happy to connect and would love to have you involved
[12:52:42 PM] Ron Lee: I like your idea about discussing how to handle microfame
[12:53:22 PM] Ron Lee: Thats a great idea. Do you have the time to attend? Are you sure you'd be able to make it?
[12:53:47 PM] Minnie Riley St. Claire: It is in January, travelling to vegas can be expensive but I think it is possible to be there
[12:55:26 PM] Ron Lee: Where are you based? If your sure you can make it we can do a media sponsorship and get you the exposure on exchange for helping. You'd want to have some materials ready a month or so before.
[12:55:41 PM] Ron Lee: Sounds like something of interest still?
[12:56:32 PM] Minnie Riley St. Claire: It does interest me - even thought there is chat about it on the webcam model community sites questioning the motives of this conference
[12:56:34 PM] Ron Lee: Yeah. Thats a ways away. Up to you. Wed need to make sure you can make it
[12:57:55 PM] Ron Lee: Thats unfortunate a few people have decided to rush to judgment. I avoid gossip though and I'm glad like most you can see the value of such an event
[12:58:31 PM] Minnie Riley St. Claire: Do you have a budget to pay for speakers
[12:59:00 PM] Ron Lee: Minnie we are not paying for speakers on these topics
[12:59:26 PM] Ron Lee: I might me be able to give you a platform for exposure though.
[1:00:31 PM] Minnie Riley St. Claire: I have to weigh the pros and cons of this since it will cost me to be there and my only compensation is exposure
[1:00:58 PM] Minnie Riley St. Claire: and your a brand new "conference"
[1:01:40 PM] Ron Lee: No problem. ill have our new organizer touch base with you. She'll be able to get any questions you have answered. Thanks again
[1:02:14 PM] Minnie Riley St. Claire: ok

We've extended an olive branch to this guy...I'm thinking we can channel his talents into something less destructive if he insists on being a cammodel hero. Hubby thinks he can turn him around...we'll see. The legal retainer is already paid for, I'd just like to use it for more useful things.
-----------
He's claiming he's no longer involved any more and handing it off to someone else (which is his 3rd or 4th story on the subject).
He also claims he has every right to post model's contact information on his site and he won't be taking any down, including mine I guess.
Well and truly and asshat. Have ZERO doubt, he is not "for cammodels" or on their side at all. Patent affiliate troll.
Holding breath for the new management to arrive...maybe they're more "reasonable" or he's just doing a shell game.

My name's still up on their site despite being told yesterday that they would take it down "first thing in the morning". I don't really anticipate that it'll be coming down at all and I really don't care. If they want to have the old, retired stage name of someone who is currently not camming with a link to a twitter that no longer exists, they can go for it.
Quoted from that novel that Ron had hyori post:
As a very successful affiliate marketer I owe a great deal to the entertainers in this industry. To be perfectly frank these hard working individuals are the reason for my success in affiliate marketing. They essentially pay my wages, hence I appreciate the opportunity to be part of this process of bringing forward a Adult Webcam Centered Conference.
So he acknowledges that we basically pay his wages, but won't pay us to be speakers and teach courses at his event? WTF?
When all is said and done though, I think what bugs me the most about all this is the fact that on his "become a cam model" page, it links to Internet M0deling and some other studio as the Streamate signup. Just a whole lotta nope...

word. I don't appreciate the co-option of chicas name to give the appearance that there's a broad base of support for this conference, but 'fake it til you make it' is unfortunately a common approach. The InternetM0deling/I-camz issue though, just ugh. Fuck no.

Well if that's true, his affiliate links and IM agent code should be off the site in no time......................... right? I mean, why would "someone else" keep his affiliate/studio pimp links up....

We're doing a bulk takedown notice for our own models, via the little used (but viable) Right to Publicity (in some states Right to Persona) statutes for just this reason. Copyright law and trademark law aren't the only protections people have against their name being used for commercial purposes. I'd be happy to add anyone else to the list we're preparing, just send an IM here or email.

That's super cool of you, Katy!
Right now I kinda want my name to stay up there just because it's a stage name that I no longer use and the twitter link goes to a "Sorry, that page doesn't exist" page so anyone who clicks on it will know that they're obviously just throwing random names up there lol.

Oh they block me from twitter. I want my name removed because I can't even attend if I wanted to! I have prior, and more important engagements. Like my brothers wedding. I'm not even an option to attend.
I don't think it should seem like I have the option of going. I don't want to be pestered about something I CAN'T EVEN ATTEND.
This is what I got blocked from. I was nothing but professional. Guess they don't want to be on the good side of a model who has over 25k favorites and a top model. Who knows, my brother could get cold feet and cancel? Maybe if they prove that they are able to pull off a successful event for models as well, I'd like to attend next year. If they lowered their model ticket price... Because I'm sure as hell not going to pay $300 for a convention ticket. (at most I will pay $75) That's why I mentioned fetcon model tickets are $40. Because that is helluva affordable.

^^^seriously? wow, dude is def not handling this well. I still have no idea why he assumed that chicas would have no issue with having their names co-opted in a manner that makes it appear that we support something that we weren't even asked about. that's the sort of paternalism I can't wait to see die out as chicas wrest more power and the balance shifts away from the 'old way' of doing things.
for what it's worth though I sent the guy a short email yesterday asking that my name be removed and as of this morning it's been taken down. Maybe try that method? Don't get me wrong, this shouldn't of even happened in the first place and you shouldn't have to waste your time chasing this guy around, but at least it appears like he's responding to email removal requests.
edit: just read above, glad your name has been removed. blocking you on twitter though? I can only hope to aspire to reach those heights of maturity and professionalism

Mine's still there as of right now. He's flat out refusing to remove names in bulk also, I think he's building an e-mail spam list using your name on there as blackmail. This guy is self-proclaimed affiliate marketing guru, so if you email him, I strongly suggest using a burner email.
Hubby woke up this morning with a much better idea than a lawsuit...this guy isn't the only one with more time than money on his hands. I made the executive decision to just put the funds toward sponsoring another (legit) convention for now. #freethemodels #nomorescamconferences
He's told 3 different stories at least (seems to have a different story for everyone he talks to) about how he's (maybe) turning over the site to (maybe) some other company which might have (possibly for real) a female coordinator to be able to post here. Apparently some big "Press Release" is going to clear all this up. Everyone that starts anything with cammodels goes through a baptism by fire, working as a business serving models is not for the thin-skinned.

Right now for the next few months we're going to volunteer and sponsor a few other conventions/conferences to get some experience for how its done. Some other cammodels that were interested and talked to us about it already we gave the same basic advice...there's many different "sex positive" events happening everywhere all the time (Fetlife is a good source to find them), and it should be a simple matter to say "I want to learn how to do this also, let me volunteer" to any of their experienced convention people. Our own business budget is pretty stretched right now with everything going on, but by summer I should have a better idea what kind of investment we could make to make sure this happens.

I very politely asked to be removed as well. They never even emailed me to let me know anything about it (not that I would go) but they used an old twitter account on their attending page. I asked to be removed and they blocked me on twitter and removed me.
Way to burn bridges. He could have just said, sorry about that we have removed you instead of being a dick and blocking (not that I give a flying fuck, but it's the principle of it!)

Yup, if there's gonna be fans attending, the people running the convention should be paying us to attend because we're the talent and the reason why the fans are even going.
hyori
03-23-2015, 05:50 PM
The problem with fans attending is that we are not guaranteed safety if one psychotic fan rapes a model the police will probably turn a blind eye because technically he has paid for services. Scary shit.

You know since we do have the power of social media and this "conference" has a good number of us on their list or they have contacted us thinking we would drop everything to be non-paid speakers and be attendees. we should be using social media to let them know they are not on our favorite list and we could probably make a big scene on twitter.
i.e I do not consent being listed @camconference #avoidCamconference or @camconference did not get my consent #consentisexy.

Just have the models he's listed and profiled there demand their own affiliate links with their profiles. All they're doing right now is fattening his wallet for when he either cuts and runs or sells out to someone else. They'll still be the ones paying for their own attendance later or left holding the bag if he never gets around to actually booking the venue (zero reservations anywhere yet, btw).
"Thanks for my affiliate money bb, now if you want to collect your award, fork over another few hundred $$$ plus hotel and airfare. Whaddya think this is, a charity? Now attend my seminar on how you too can be a brilliant affiliate marketer like me!"

Tech Workshop Setting up Shop & Split Camming - During this hour cam models will learn about the best webcams for live broadcasting, get hands-on tips for improving image quality and appearance while on cam, and perhaps most valuable of all; learn how to split-cam so that you can leverage multiple platforms to increase your gross sales.
Protecting Your Content – Anti-Piracy and Privacy Protection. This track will feature a presentation from CamModelProtection.com, Industry Experts on Adult Webcam Content Protection.
"Watch as I magically pirate some poor girl's blog...and then...not ironically...someone's going to teach you how to protect your content!"

I do have a question for him actually...how is he getting sites to "sponsor" his conference and then in the same breath teaching splitcamming? Which is pretty much illegal on every site out there besides the indy ones...how will he justify that to the sites? And how will he keep models from getting banned on those sites for splitting if he's basically advertising that they do it?
Such poor forethought I feel.

Those "sponsors" are not real. It's been confirmed that he let them have free advertising in exchange for a banner on his site as a sponsor.
Splitcamming is a lame topic to teach because if a model can't figure it out on her own then she shouldn't even attempt to try it...it will just impede on her earnings rather than help earnings. Sorry to be harsh but it's true. Especially if you're a newer model. Having a course won't help, it's like giving a motorcycle to a baby. Anyway, that's not what he's thinking about, he wants the interest and attention so that models will attend his stupid courses and so that he'll make more money.

Lots of sites don't care if you split, and the ones that do aren't going to ban you for it. The "official" word for places like SM is that they don't want you to splitcam because they own your stream when you stream it to their site. But again, no one gets banned for it. I guarantee you no one on page 2+ is sitting on SM without splitting. Several sites I've been on actually have instructions for how to split them with other sites.
Not defending the douche bag or anything, the entire thing is a poor forethought! Lol

So.. this sounds really flaky to me. I was nominated in a couple of the categories and when I went to the site there were little red flags all over the place. The whole website kind of screamed "thrown together without much thought" and unprofessional.... But I just received a message from ModelCentro to vote for them in the "AdultWebcamAwards" From reading this thread it sounds like it's a pretty shady deal. :/
