Yeah 0.48. That is high speed internet where I live. Its the fastest available from any provider in my area. I managed to do the low quality settings from sm ok but the picture quality with that is way worse than no encoder at all. It looked like something from a low quality built in webcam. My placement has been tanking badly from not using the encoder :(.

Has anyone else had issues with OBS not connecting to SM. All of a sudden one day it wouldn't connect, and I hadn't changed anything. Now I just got a new computer and still the same thing is happening. I'm on a mac, so maybe the new update or something?!?!

Thank you for bumping this, Cara. I'm having lag issues with the encoder on SM and was wondering if OBS still worked.

I'm confused about how to work the OBS... Do I still need to load the XML profile and if so, where do I do that? Sorry. Adobe Flash is killing my laptop and money....

^^No, you don't have to load up the XML file. OBS is fully customizable to whatever suits your machine best and should run optimally for you. I think that's why SM doesn't like it because they can't make the settings consistent across the board and that screws up their ranking algorithms.

Hi
I'm Confused, do you mean OBS (open broadcasting software)? If so we can tackle this later together because I just now registered here but also streammate. So or so I can't say much yet because I haven't worked with the latter but I replied to keep an eye on this thread.
EDIT:
Ok so my bad I sounded like a jerk ^^ but I can still provide some help with that because I encode with obs at times. Believe it or not i noticed a couple bent pins on my new (used) motherboard. That throws all my plans over board for camming into the new year on SM. But i will keep you updated on sm/obs!

If you're using a Mac the newest version doesn't work with SM. You'll need version 0.11.2

Finally got it working. after playing with a few settings a seriously high quality 720p and 320 mp3 sound. All for the cost of 9% cpu. 12% if I record as well. Never going back to 20% for a horrible glitchy stream.
Turned out my firewall was blocking the software. Duh

Did your stream start when it was being blocked? SM seems to detect my stream and put me online, but then my stream never appears in my room.

Hi there,
So I'm trying to use this OBS Video Streaming Software & it's not letting me log into SM :(
Can someone please help me to get connected. Do I need a stream key? Where do I get it from?
What login URL do I use? I was using https://streamatemodels.com/login.php?g=L3BlcmZvcm1lci8= but my website coder said maybe just use the URL b/c either way I'm not able to connect.
And someone on here told me I can cam on more than one site, but I don't see a way.
Also, can I use a restreamer?
Thank you, I appreciate it.

If you've ever used the FMLE it's the same URL that you type in there. Try starting at the start of this thread on OBS. Lots of info here. Also there's a splitcam thread from the stickies at the to of Camming Connection that goes over split camming https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/showthread.php?175218-Splitcam-Guide-for-newbies

Yep that's it. See if either of these methods work...
1. Close OBS. Open your Logitech software. Make sure your resolution is set to 720 or 1080. Close Logitech. Open OBS and see if its widescreen.
2. Under properties click on the drop down for resolution, click custom, type in 1280x720 and click ok.

Thanks for this thread, all...I'm now using OBS instead of SMB on SM thanks to you all and everyone says my picture/sound is much better, but I still have lag - sometimes just a few second, like five seconds, but today it was more like fifteen seconds, which is cramping my hustle. Anyone have any suggestions/fixes to eliminate lag on OBS, please?

05-26-2017, 10:17 AM
^^ what is your upload speed? If it is less than 3 then broadcast with lower bitrate settings eg. 360 maximum. If you are above 3 then do around 2300 at 720p. OBS is weird how it has optimal bitrate settings.

Thanks so much, Hyori! That helped a lot...lag is down to five seconds, which I can live with. But my picture is pixelating pretty badly whenever I move around. I have my resolution at 1280 x 700 and tried reducing it but that didn't affect the pixelation at all. Do you or anyone know a fix for this? Thanks.

Hey, I tried it for about 10 mins today, and it seems to make my placement way better because with SM Broadcaster and with FMLE encoder, I can't seem to be able to handle a very high resolution. I checked my placement and I saw myself on the first page for the first time EVER, so I'm looking forward to streaming more with it! (If you are already streaming in 720p without issues, don't bother).
I had to fiddle with the program for a few minutes to get it to work, so here is what I did. Mind you, I had to google around a little to figure it out, because it's not totally intuitive.
1. Make sure you have an Audio Input Capture and Video Input Capture selected on OBS. When the program is open, look for the "Sources" field, second from the left side of the screen. Click the "+" sign to add an Audio Input Capture. You'll get a pop-up window and above the top field it should say "create new" (this should be toggled). Click "ok" at the bottom, then you will get a window that lets you pick the source... You will probably want to pick your hd webcam. Go through the same steps to choose your Video Input Capture.
2. To set up your streaming settings, I would do this. Click "settings" from the right-hand side of OBS. Then, click on "video". Choose 1280 x 720p for both the canvas settings and output settings from the drop-down menus. Then, choose 30 from the "common fps values" drop-down.
3. Time to stream! Go to Streamate, and choose "external encoding", just like if you were using FMLE. Click "start show" to get the 2 thingies you copy and paste (yeah, "thingies" is the technical term...) Then, still in OBS settings, choose "Stream", then "custom type streamer" from the drop down. Click back to Streamate and copy the top thingie. Paste it in the top field in OBS that says "URL". Then, click back to Streamate, copy the bottom thingie, then paste it in the bottom field in OBS that says "stream key". Then, close (x out of) the OBS settings menu, and click "yes" when it asks if you want to save changes. Then, click "start streaming" on the right hand side of OBS.
If you're still not able to stream, maybe see if your firewall is blocking OBS. If you're still having trouble, please let us know exactly what's going on and hopefully someone can help!

More even lighting should help with pixelation. Also turning off autofocus on your webcam.

I've tried like 6 times & SM just keeps spinning & won't log me in. I keep creating new keys & same thing. I even rebooted my computer :(
Never mind, my bad. I'm so new to it I forgot to click on the start streaming on the OBS LMAO

Hi,
So I'm having huge issues with my ISP cutting in & out for a sec & then it's fine, then it does it again. Getting them to fix it is like pulling teeth.
I switched ISPs, but it's the same hardware, so now it's worse.
My question is, when the frames per sec are very low & there's lots of dropped frames, how do we know if it's SM or the ISP? I'm sure it's both of them, but how can we get proof?
Thanks
P.S. I think it is SM b/c when I shut down SM & went to another site, the drop was a lot lower, BUT I wasn't camming thru OBS.

It's very well because no one really knows the answer. Have you done a ping test? That might explain a bad connection if there is a lot of jitter. If you've done everything you can on your end then it is probably SM that has the issue. I wouldn't be surprised since there are so many reports here.

Frames per second dropping as well as the resolution dropping is a glitch, its been talked about in the SM vent thread. I feel like the only way to tell if its SM is to try other sites like you did. If you don't experience the same issues with other sites then I would say that its SM causing the issues. However I would also test out your hardware since you didn't replace it when you got a new ISP. I would get another router/modem from the store even its only temporary and test it just to make sure that its not your router/modem.

I upped my crap internet from 2 to 3 mbps this week hoping my stream would improve, but last night OBS crapped out on me, dropping 50 to 100 percent of my frames. This is with all the same settings I had before (360 bitrate, 30 fps, 640 x 480 res). So I switched to SMB and voila, traffic picked up, members chatting like crazy and lots of short pvts and one, nice, long one. One guy even asked me if I was new bc he'd never seen me before on the first page! So I'm switching back to SMB as long as it performs better than OBS for me. Just sharing here in case this helps anyone else who might be struggling with OBS.

CB said they won't give out stream keys & I don't work consistently on other sites. I'm Live, but I doubt they have a stream key.
What other sites do you use OBS with?

Has anyone had OBS take up all your system resources?
I thought it was CB doing it, but it just happened with ImLive too where I log on & I can't type at all in SM. I have to shut them both down.
I'm scared it's my computer, but this wasn't happening before I started using OBS :(

The only other sites you can use OBS on is Cams and I think Flirt4free. I wasn't saying test OBS on other sites though. I was saying that if you don't have streaming issues on other sites and the only site you are having issues on is SM then it mostly likely SM that causing the issues not your ISP.

Right, but using the OBS helped me get closer to the first page, that's why I started using it. Plus now all of a sudden the site recognizes I'm using audio even though I've always been using audio :)
So that's why I wanted to use it, not b/c I'm in love with.
But either OBS or split cam (the software) is hogging all my memory I'm pretty sure, so that is stressing me out to no end. I couldn't even type text out to a guy who took me pvt b/c of these issues.
I don't know if I should try the SM encoder b/c everyone was complaining about it before. Do you think I should?
Thank you :)

I've just learned OBS, so I'll show off my fancy learnin' in case you haven't found the answer...
In OBS, click on "settings" and then "stream". There, you will have 2 fields in which to paste the url and stream key from Streamate. Then (weirdly) I have to x out of the settings window to save the changes, I don't see an 'ok' button. Shrug.

You can use a splitcam software within the OBS encoder. In the drop down box where you select your webcam is where you would choose the splitcam software like Verysoft or Manyvids.
