the City Planning Commission has voted to pass the motion to City Council to try to get the number of strip clubs to 7. They recommend closing by attrition, not outright closing the clubs. This means any club caught with prostitution can be shut down.

I think the City Council meeting is this August, last I heard. Ill be sure to post about it on here when i know, im sure hte managers of the corporate clubs will let us know. City Council is the one that really has the power to fuck with us, the CPC only is in charge of zoning regulations, so all they had the power to do was decide to move this "study" to city council for consideration or vote it wasnt worth their time and push it off the table.

Okay gals I've gone over this thread and also the articles on city councils proposal and am a little nervous and atill confused. So the main objective is to weed out "dirty clubs" and reduce over population of strip clubs, in the cities eyes? Where does Hustlers currently stand on hiring? I'm moving permanently into Slidell the first week
Of September and was not aware of any of this stuff.. (I can't believe I haven't checked on the industry till now). I planned on stopping into flynts and rocks first, do I still have the opportunity to audition? Sorry if this has been answered and I somehow over looked lol

Also apparently they enacted the bill about underage dancers, so now you have to be 21 instead of 18 (that bill had already passed but wasn't live yet).

by flynts and rocks i assume you mean either larry's flynt's hustler club, larry flynt's barely legal, rick's saloon and rick's cabaret. i don't foresee any of the corporate clubs (ie the ones i just listed, plus penthouse) having any trouble or not hiring. hustler hired my friend yesterday, also this is way late but to whomever was asking: she has dreads and works at barely legal and hustler, but she's white so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i deeply suspect the corporate clubs won't otherwise be affected anytime particularly soon.

Really, I just went by there maybe a week or two ago, and they said they weren't hiring for any dancers. At both BL, and Hustler. Maybe they just don't like black women, or they think I am ugly or something. Anyways, I am going to check out VLIVE. black clubs these days are making a whole lot more money than white clubs, and they have a better atmosphere and they are not racist

you probs know this but depends which manager you talk to if they'll say they're hiring or not. i've literally heard managers be like "yeah she seemed hot/good but im too lazy to do paperwork rn"

i've heard rly rly bad things about vlive, good luck.

^I have heard that they have high fees and the girls split the tips and the manager will often make it rain on the stage to try to pump up the crowd, but you dont actually keep that money, so the girls make a lot less than they appear to. I think NOLA is just too poor/small for an urban club to do well.

also i believe it is actually a bikini club?

Im not sure, I have never worked there so I cant say. This is all second hand info.

OK. Last night, I just got declined from Deja VU, after the guy who was doing all the hiring processes said last week that he would hire me last night. But, he turned right now, and hired five new girls the night before.Anyways, I am but to give up Bourbon as a whole, and stay my as at The Showcase, & Visions.

Maybe me not getting hired there is a blessing in disguise.

Uhh Deja Vu has just turned into an "urban club" last week and i heard they overhauled all the old staff. Im not going to work there anymore, which sucks because that was my busy Tuesday night club. but they are only playing rap music.

for anyone who hasnt seen and is interested in what is happening with bourbon st, this is the latest news related to the clubs:

Yup yup, I'll vouch for that! I went back to the Vu after a summer hiatus & it was absolutely horrible. All the old girls were gone, only saw a handful of staff members I knew (everyone has jumped ship or thinking of it ). I tried to work a $2 Tuesday and walked with only $14 in stage money -didn't score a single dance.

So went back downtown last night -didn't even get to audition. Temptations said they're not hiring cuz they hired too many. I'm guessing that this is because everyone has taken off from Vu. Just pissed that I wasted money on parking & a watered down jack & coke for it. Gonna call ahead this evening to see if I can audition this time before I go wasting more money. Bleh

Okay ladies here's my updates! I went to the city, brought my id but forgot my ssc sooo I could technically do any hiring paperwork.. But I stopped in BL and Ricks and they both asked me to come back. Then Lipstixx promoter begged me across the street and hired me on spot. Then Hustlers manager asked me to come back with my ssc and said they def wanted me to work for em. So over all it was a painless job hunt and I think I'll end up at hustlers and maybe pop in lipstixx for a day shift. It's a little different than my norm but obviously full of people spending money while I was in there so I might use it to supplement my income. I imagine lipstixx brings in locals and regulars? Just seemed a little creepy when she showed me the backdoor dance area. Feedback ladies? If things don't go well at Hustlers I
Figure I can go back to BL and Ricks.

Lipstick & stilettos & those are some of the main reasons for the raid that happened last October. They're known for extra curriculars. I audio need at Stilettos last year & was freaked out by they're dirty garbage strewn stage & cement dance vip area. Just beware

yeah looked pretty questionable, thank you for the input! I'm not a judger but I'm a very straightforward no extras entertainer so I will probably just stick to the mainstream. I go into hustlers tonight so we'll see how it goes!

They said they were hiring at rick's. but I was too worried that me being black, and my braids would be a problem.Plus i have a tattoo of an ankh on my arm, and that might scare off the white customers.

Are they accepting any more dancers at BL?

i ended up working at Hustlers not barely legal so I'm not sure... But I'm really pleased with where I'm at, I work with all kinds of gals including black women and plenty of entertainers with tattoos. I don't think that will be a problem necessarily... Half the time people don't notice tattoos they just stare at the booty anyway. Lol might as well give it a shot.

Hey, was it busy the night you worked?
so I've been working two weeks now. I would say majority of my shifts were busy but even the ones that weren't I did well, the amount of people doesn't really translate to money for me.. It comes down to whether they are spending and I'm hustling. But yeah I like hustlers so far and last night was my only disappointing nights but there was a bike ride and Beyoncé and the lsu game was on late so I think that had something to do with it, lol

there is never a club on bourbon not hiring for dancers. (exception being after the busts last yr when lots of clubs went on hiring freezes). The time of year and manager will change how picky they are though, but generally all the clubs here are revolving doors of T&A.

Well hustler, deja vu,penthouse(which I knew I was not getting in there. I am to black for that crowd, which was fine cause after a small interaction with the people who work there I am glad they rejected me),lipstixx said they're weren't hiring. Maybe because it was slow at the time, cause I did ask during the spring, and summer months, or they just didn't like me. I work at Showcase which isn't so bad.I might check out Babes, and Club Nola, soon.I have still yet to check out VLIVE but I am going.

I talked to a coworker at Barely who said she also worked at the saloon and she said it was good. But I am not exactly sure on what "good" to her means. Other girls I know who have worked there....I think they were there in late September....they said it was totally hit or miss and average earnings not that high.

Was thinking about auditioning there anyway. Figured it wouldnt hurt to try. I like having options and you never know where you will do well.

Someone talked about Vu earlier in this thread....I went there earlier this month and the manager took a look at me and was like no, then I got hired at Barely. And at Barely they said that that manager was gone so I might as well try again and that I wasnt his type. So I went back and I did get hired but the hiring experience had me so mad that I didnt even want to stay to work, I ended up going to work there the next night and the whole experience had me wanting to run away screaming and they can just take my contract and put it in the shredder I dont care. But from what I could tell of Vu some girls were making money and some girls were doing the absolute most to make not very much. But I hear it is a very late club and a lot of girls seemed to just be waiting around for that. But I couldnt make it that long cause I had worked a dayshift that day elsewhere and like I said, club had me wanting to run away screaming.

I dont say that because it is trying to be a "black club", Im black too, I just felt like it wasnt being run in a way that makes money.

Vu had me remembering my time at stilettos fondly.

I went in February and did well when a real estate convention was in town but after that made the same as what I would have made at home. My friend is trying to get me to go down with her last minute this Tuesday the 24th - next Tuesday the 1st. I kind of need to bust my ass to pay for some bills by the end of the month ( I was in a car accident and ALSO need new brakes ) so I'd really be playing a gamble by committing to coming down and *hoping* to come home with a stack of cash. I'm worried things might suck cuz it's Halloween weekend / week. How has it been and do you think Halloween will affect next week? "infectious diseases society of america" (whatever that is) is having a convention the 25th - 29th with 7000 people according to the convention center website, do you think that will help out? If I commit to this trip and it sucks I'm going to be under some serious water financially (it's sucked at my home club and I am behind on a ton of bills)

Feel free to PM me. Thank you!!

OK,whoever said they were hiring on Bourbon for strip clubs, and I said they weren't, they definitely were. Back earlier this year(I had to think back, and realized something) I got offered jobs at Scores, Temptations,Centerfolds,(actually I got stopped on the street and was offered a job just like that at Centerfolds) Rick's Cabaret and stiletto. But I guess the three jobs that would not hire me clouded my perception, and had me forgetting about the clubs that did want me, but I could not work them because of my other job.

Anyways, I am working the Showcase, and it's pretty cool. And I got offered to work at Club Eden.

Someone I used to dance with in the spring said they also danced like I guess a couple nights out the week or a few times a month in the BR area (for exact reason you said, change of scenery). Forget which club she said it was but there are barely any clubs in BR area (honestly I think like 4). She must have been doing decent there since she continued to go, but I remember her saying that one thing about it was that it was a lot of regulars and they kind of all knew the girls and would like see them outside the club too, like go out to get food after the club closed at 2.

Is New Orleans (Bourbon clubs) currently experiencing some over-saturation of dancers right now?

My experiences tell me that when a club says "we aren't hiring" they really mean "we are always hiring, we just don't want to hire you specifically but for whatever reason, despite this being a fairly blunt and judgmental industry, we won't tell you that to your face."

Over the past year I have been rejected from night shift from every club on Bourbon (minus Stilettos, but honestly at this point I think if I went back they would hit me with the "we have too many girls right now" line....and Hustler/Penthouse/Rick's Cabaret because realistically if Lipstixx/Scores/Temptations wont take me I highly doubt they would, so I haven't bothered to go there).

Rick's Saloon/Babes/Barely/Deja Vu auditioned me before saying no (for night). Scores/Lipstixx/Temptations all just told me they had too many girls.

So what I'm asking is: is my gut feeling that they are just brushing me off correct or could they actually have too many girls?

If that the case I wonder why they are so dam picky? I got accepted at Temptations for the day shift, but i could not do that. Centerfolds wanted me, and Scores offered me a spot but it in the day time.I worked at the showcase for a bit. I might have to try out Atlanta then, Miami I feel like you gotta know Spanish. Temptations only has one day shift a week and he didn't offer me that either. Centerfolds been closed. Scores and Lipstixx I think have dayshift but I did 5 days at Scores a year ago and didn't like it. Plus I already have a day contract at Barely, so no need to try Lipstixx in day time. How recently were you at Showcase? Is it mainly stage money or room/dance money? Know anything about Cabaret NOLA or Scores West?

the showcase varies far as stage money and dances (for me) plus there's a lot of girls so I would say hustling dances and just dancing by the customer. You'll only get on stage like once. I plan to go tonight or next Tuesday.

6 inch heels is fine.

i would definitely redo your roots before headed to NOLA is you want to work at a nice club. Right now the street is oversaturated with dancers, so nice clubs are being pickier than usual. Also i would get actual dance wear or if you want to wear lingerie make sure it is higher end.

i never wore fake lashes until this year. now that i started wearing them and it takes me almost no time to put them on, i feel like my makeup is unfinished without it. lash extensions are expensive, you dont need those. do your makeup well, if you like the lashes , wear them. it isnt like fake lashes are a huge investment

I'd suggest a little self tanner tho, or the daily tan stuff you put it on & washes off in the shower.
Look in Body Business for brands.
You can also buy color & developer @ Sally's Beauty, if you want to save on a salon.
I have my hair pro highlighted, but I touch up my roots myself.

If you danced in NOLA would you say I have any chance of getting hired? I was reading all this crazy stuff about fat lists and whatnot before I posted. I guess my basic question is.... am I too fat to get hired anywhere remotely decent over there?

You may pm me if you don't wish to post this publicly or whatever lol. <3

All I'm gonna say is the skinnier and more toned you are the better. I had issues at 115 llbs. If you are a minority and considered overweight you have an uphill battle against you. Be prepared to have some thick skin and have a back-up plan.

^^^^^ Not being black is a huge plus on Bourbon. Bra and panty sets are fine but you probably need the real stripper thong under the panties, like if they are lace for example that is not going to fly if you can see through it. But even though I see a variety of outfits I would personally not consider appropriate for the club on other girls, I would try to wear bra and panty sets that look less like....I don't know how to explain, I saw someone said "higher end," yeah you don't want a set that looks like someone caught you off guard and asked you to undress. Lol. If buying stripper wear is an expense you arent trying to deal with, maybe just buy bottoms and wear a bra or bustier top with it if you already have that.

Babe's Cabaret just closed so their dancers are scattering to other clubs. If you are trying to work for New Year's you probably want to audition sooner rather than later. If you mean after New Year's it shouldn't be so bad.

You need to look into that member's posting near the top of the page. She said she couldn't get on at a lot of clubs so her word on hiring should be taken with a grain of salt. Get multiple opinions before crossing a place you want to work off your list.

I've heard girls say one town or this club is racist and yet I had no trouble there. As Tempest said sometimes you have to see for yourself and just have a backup plan. You never know the motive or identity of any member of internet forums.

Thank you, that post was very rude and discouraging as well as insensitive to the plight of black dancers period. I am black and thinking of moving to NOLA and to resurrect my dancing 'career' there. Thank you for giving more fair insight.

I hope by "clearing that up" you didn't take it as me telling you to never audition at a Bourbon club. Not sure if you said you already worked on Bourbon somewhere in this thread already, but if there is a Bourbon club you really want to work at, I say def audition and see what they say. It's not like there aren't any black girls working on Bourbon (I work on Bourbon), but it can be what some other poster said... "an uphill battle".
