All I'm gonna say is the skinnier and more toned you are the better. I had issues at 115 llbs. If you are a minority and considered overweight you have an uphill battle against you. Be prepared to have some thick skin and have a back-up plan.
So much this. At my current age my average weight is way too fat for most large clubs. Just the way it is now.

Penthouse New Orleans is not gowns only. I've worked there for years, even when it was called the Gold Club.

PH is not gowns but is VERY hard to get hired.

can anyone refresh my memory on the dress code at penthouse? i just called and they still had me in the system but i didn't think to ask about outfits and can't remember if i had to wear a dress there.. i know they're strict about the double thong thing but thats all i remember. can i wear a g string underneath some lacy lingerie type stuff?
also how is xmas eve there? i'm assuming not amazing but i'll be in town anyways and figure i might as well work.
Not double thong, you have to wear full panties though, like cheeky or boyshort etc. Idk if you went yet but that's the dress code. I wear VS bra and matching bikini or cheeky panties with a stripper thong underneath for stage and VIP rooms. <3

Yes I'm here in town now @penthouse and they do want full bottoms or a dress. I wanna try ricks but don't wanna have to buy any more outfits esp a gown I'll never wear back home ugh :/

short dresses are ok at ricks as far as i know. it not a gown club.

is rick's cabaret dresses? rick's saloon doesn't seem to care much how you dress ime

yea rick's saloon is pretty much whatever. i do not work at cabaret but have a decent amount of friends who do, as far as i know from them short dresses are allowed.

Thanks y'all. Ricks told me to audition after 10pm and I like going in earlier than that, esp on my first night, so I stayed at ph.
How is january there? I heard there are conventions? Idk if that's true but if it's at all decent I wanna go back asap because January sucks where I live.

imo january usually sucks but with mardi gras in feb you never really know. there are always conventions.

my petite blonde friend (good dancer, very pretty, tiny, and no tattoos) was turned away at the door from penthouse bc they allegedly have "too many white girls" so i have no fucking idea what it takes to get hired there.

yeah, what? i'm thinking your friend was turned away for another reason she didn't feel like disclosing, or maybe it was the club that didn't feel like telling her the real reason.. but that is definitely not it lol

this is the convention schedule: http://www.neworleanscvb.com/meeting-planners/convention-calendar/
i think jan more of a "hope you have savings and hope you get lucky" kind of month, at least in beginning, rather than a "i know im going to make money" kind of month.

^thanks! decided to go to a diff city this month. but now i'm looking at rooms during mardi gras. what's the deal with that? is it worth the high prices? is it busy for several whole weeks? i'm kinda just blindly picking some days around that time to book and hoping it's good.
also.. am i going to have a problem working if i don't show up until then? i just worked at penthouse for new years so, i'll be returning at the end of feb like <2months later. is that long enough to have to re audition again? because i've heard they don't hire during that time and i would lose it if i spent all that money on a place to stay and couldn't work. i'm already assuming i'll be limited to PH since it's the only club out there that i've worked at recently.

i think you should be fine at penthouse. if you have your eyes on any other clubs though definitely get contracts ASAP as getting hired around mardi gras is harder.

2 months sounds totally fine. but like Nain_Rouge said, if you want another club too then wanna get the contract sooner. Mardi Gras not till Feb 28 tho, so you have some time.
As for Mardi Gras, I'm not sure where you usually say, but I guess if you think you are unsure about how long you will stay, look at what the cancellation policy is? and base your place to stay on that.
February is not considered to be a slow month. Though last year my Mardi Gras shifts were mixed (Mardi Gras day and the like week leading up to it), some were like hellll yeahhhh and some where like *makes sad desperate pleading look at manager* and he responds with "we have way too many girls anyway, dont worry about the fees just go home." but i know some girls banked during mardi gras.

i usually stay at prince conti and it's usually like 100 bucks a night but for the dates i'm looking at it's $300 a night  so i will probably air b&b even though i'm kinda nervous because both times i've tried to rent a place in nola it ended badly and i vowed to always spend a lil extra for a safe hotel near the quarter. with those prices i'll take my chances though.
i might be able to work at hustler but probably not cause i haven't been there since like.. july. i'm fine with staying at penthouse so nbd. thanks again for the advice

fuck air bnb. it is ruining this city.
try india house hostel in mid city. great hostel, and an easy ride on the street car to work ( i would take a cab home though). dorm beds are like 25 bucks a night and i believe they have affordable privates as well. Also, there is a new hostel in the quarter on rampart across from armstrong park that my friends stayed at last spring, it was quiet and not as friendly as india house but safe and clean. you can also try the haunted hotel, but that might be only for girls working at the hustler clubs, i am not sure. i believe that one is 75 a night

the one on rampart is the french quarter hostel; a lot of the ladies that staff it are actually dancers too! it's nice and inexpensive and super close to the bourbon st clubs.
def don't do airbnb.

Hustler redoes contracts on Jan 31 so Im not sure your contract would still be valid in Feb. But if you have worked there before then maybe if the manager isnt in a mood or something they will redo it even if it is around Mardi Gras time? Worth a shot if you wanna switch it up.

Pretty sure it depends which manager you get to do the audition, their standards seem to vary heavily. I dont go there super often but yeah there are some tattoos. I dont recall seeing anyone super super tattooed on night shift, but saw it in daytime and did see some tattoos at night, but I wasnt looking for it and you cant always tell since they wear dresses unless you see them on stage.

I've had a similar experience working at the Rick's Cabaret. Like a lot of those patrons seem to just come to sit in the club and to view free-boobies, without tipping or getting dances. So many patrons shouldn't be there; maybe the cover fee needs to be higher. And why would I have to take off my beautiful gown without ANY tip and so these people can come in, take photos of and stare for free?
I will try this club one more time to get better with my hustling and VIPs before being back in NYC. the management is nicer than other establishments, NOT (they're about the same being anywhere else).

Couple of the girls I work with say that it’s horrid, except for one place.
It’s also about to be out of season, so a lot of NOLA girls are coming to our area to work.

Memorial Day weekend was good. We had the Bayou Country Superfest here, 75,000 people or something, so that helped. I work at Hustler. Things have loosened up a little. I don't use the pedestals and I give contact dances. The bouncers still watch closely to make sure the customers don't have their hands on you.
But yeah, Sophia is right that we're about to see a steep dropoff in business. I wouldn't travel to work here until October. It's going to be slow til then.

My friend got pulled into Karma because they said they "Needed white girls" They put her on stage immediately to work the night. She told the manager she did not expect being put on stage for a full shift and a 75$ tip out and bolted. I went in once and noticed it was dead as hell and had a very awkward vibe.

Did y'all see that Rick's Sporting Saloon is permanently closed as of today? Really sucks. I hate seeing the strip clubs dwindling on Bourbon Street. And so many people unemployed during slow season.
