Another thought -- you have mentioned Lexapro in more than one thread. I was on that for abt 6-8mo, 10+yrs ago & it made me feel horrible. I brought myself off of it cold turkey (admittedly one of the absolute dumbest things I've ever done) bc the poor effects just were not worth it for me. Yrs later, the psychiatrist I went to told me just how poorly she thought of Lexapro. Not only her, but quite a few others I have talked to only had crap things to say abt it.

I didn't look at your recent antidepressants thread, but have you tried any other medications, or med combos? Medication+couch time or meds+ECT, or various other forms of therapy. Is it possible that you've got a combination of depression+anxiety(an ex of mine had this problem) or depression+[whatever else] that might simply respond better to a different course of treatment? Brain chemistry is such a fickle thing that sm times it's just a matter of trial&error to find what works for you.

2nd-ing the suggestion of herbal supplements. Your dr may be able to advise you on the best ones to try.

Yes I do have both. Oddly I feel good on trips but when I get home it hits me? I have been just taking a paxil every other day. i took a celexa and was so dizzy yesterday I could barely function. Yeah, I really think my doctor doesn't know a lot about meds and just kinda shoves one off on me. I should probably go somewhere but it's hard to find good doctors here. I've tried a few natural things and don't feel they worked.

I'm having really bad anxiety lately so I can relate.

Believe me, I feel you on the difficulty of finding a good dr. I will be most likely having to drive from KW to Miami in a few months for medical eval bc the pathologists down here don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.

But even if it's a bit of a drive to find the right dr, I think it would be worth it, esp for smtg as important & as delicate as mental health troubles. You shouldn't be settling for a dr who just shoves meds at you w/o really following-up, or listening to your descriptions of how those meds are affecting you. My med-mgmt when I was on Lexapro was a joke, the dr didn't much care what I was doing as long as it wasn't the kind of shit that got me landed in his care in the first place. It didn't do me any favours. I would try to expand my medical circle & find a dr who is actually willing to work w/ you to find the right meds/therapy/whatever balance.

Also, have you thoroughly discussed the possible drug interactions w/ either your dr or your pharmacist?

I second what Aniela said - interactions with current medication can do way more harm than good. This is especially concerning if you do feel your doctor is just trying a "take these - see what works" approach to everything.

Has it been getting worse, better, or staying the same recently?

Yeah. It's hard because with my insurance i have to get referrals for everything. Yes he knows what I'm on but I still ask the pharmacists about interactions. They seem to know better.

Well I'm working so I'm so busy and like I said I'm usually fine on trips it's when I get home I have issues.

'The quickest way to find smtg is to start looking for smtg else' Can't even tell you how many times I've relied on this principle to find my car keys :detective:

Anyway OP, re: insurance … I don't want to jack the thread, get into too-detailed of a personal discussion, or open up a(nother) can of worms … so PM me.
