Apparently there's a new Lara Croft (Tomb Raider). Alicia Vikander (not sure who this is, though). She was in Ex Machina as Ava. A movie I've heard good stuff about yet have never seen.

She was amazing and the movie is incredible, a must watch.

Batman is afraid that super heroes with powers might go rouge and nobody would be able to stop them. In the comics he has figured out each super heroes weakness and has it filed away just in case he need to stop them. In the comics, Batman doesn't like that Superman is all powerful and follows the law to the letter (a goody two-shoes). And Superman doesn't like Batman because he's a vigilante and will break the rules to fight criminals and answers to no one.

Electra's right about that. In Tower of Babel, Batman takes out the entire Justice League.

In the recent movie, Batman blames Superman for the destruction of Metropolis, somehow. Batman's kind of unhinged here, maybe due to the death of Jason Todd (he kept the crowbar?!). I much prefer the way the animated series handled their first meeting:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5nUsa8ZLm4

BTW, if this new version of Bruce is so ready to kill, how is the Joker still alive?

In the comics he has figured out each super heroes weakness and has it filed away just in case he need to stop them.

Yeah, and that turned out to be a really bad idea (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JLA:_Tower_of_Babel).

ETA: Raziel beat me to that while I was getting a snack. But that story would make a great Justice League movie. There was an animated version that replaced Ra's al Ghul with Vandal Savage, I think.

Well, Harrison always hated the part. He's been bitching about it for decades. Why not recast it. I'll wait and see the film. They recast Chewbacca in the force awakens (sort of, peter mayhew couldn't do all the running around, so he's in the close shots and it's someone else in the long action shots).

Edit: Disney is going to exploit this property as much as they can. Its a fact of life. I just want a movie that focuses on Darth Vader.

I wouldn't call it a recast when they are going to play a completely different version of the character. Ford wasn't about to play young Solo.

FINALLY got to see "Civil War" last night and really enjoyed it. There's a lot of story and characters packed in, but everything flows well. I still wish they hadn't spoiled Spider-Man in the trailer, but he was great in this. At least they didn't spoil Giant Man, so that was a surprise. I was also impressed by the de-aged Robert Downey, Jr. in the flashback.

Too bad they couldn't fit Hulk and Thor in this.

I went to X-Men Apocalypse instead. I'm not very familiar with Marvel, but I thought it was a great movie, great story, very human, very moving too. (I don't think this is a spoiler) My favorite part was the scene with Quicksilver. Absolutely the funniest scene in a super-hero movie I have ever seen.

This is trending on FB already, but...

How do you make a great show like Game of Thrones even better?

You cast Ian McShane in the upcoming season (variety.com/2015/tv/news/game-of-thrones-ian-mcshane-1201554773/), that's how.

The bad news?

Yea like 2 episodes right..? I was surprised at how that turned out..

Considering HBO's ratings problems with a lot of their other programming, i'd bet on a spinoff soon. Dunk and Egg, maybe? Princess and the Queen? Rogue Prince? Martin has other stuff written that is set in this same world.

As far as how many episodes, they'll announce it soon, probably writing it now.

Dunk and Egg are great stories but you'd be hard pressed to get a single season out of them. At best they are one solid episode each. They could get a whole new multiple season show out of the "Dance of Dragons" war though.

Prolly get a great HBO original movie out of each of them, though. George has notes for a Fourth, titled "She Wolves of Winterfell."

War of the Usurper could get two or three seasons, too. And it has the advantage of characters we already know, albeit a lot younger.

They could get a whole new multiple season show out of the "Dance of Dragons" war though.

Yeah, better have a big budget, though. That'd be expensive.

"The Ongoing Adventures of Ser Pounce & Ghost." A GoT show the whole family can enjoy!

I was a bit upset when I read that Ghost was originally supposed to be at the BotB, but the CGI budget went to Wun Wun instead*. Maybe it's for the best, considering how the direwolves have been faring so far.

Also, I did not know there were real dire wolves (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dire_wolf).

*Not to say that Wun Wun wasn't fantastic; I just think HBO could have shelled out for both.

Anyone see Star Trek: Beyond? I liked it quite a bit- definitely the best of the new series and better than most of the TNG movies. I just wish I hadn't seen the trailer. That was a pretty big moment to spoil.

Highlights:

- Seriously crushing on Jaylah.
- The more realistic universal translator.
- Old Spock's photo of the original crew.
- Even though the trailer pretty much gave it away, I still didn't think they'd completely destroy the Enterprise. But as soon as they did, you knew the movie would end with the "A." Liked the time-lapse of the new ship being built, as opposed to ST IV, where they just slapped the name on a ship they happened to have lying around.

Only thing I didn't quite get was the villain and how his whole vampire/shape-changing thing was supposed to work.

And of course it was sad seeing Chekhov get so much screen time, knowing what happened to Anton Yelchin. :(
