I've already bought tickets for me and my little brother for Suicide Squad tomorrow!!!

Spoiler Alert!!!

Overall the movie was okay. They tried to tell too much story and introduce too many characters in the 2 hours. In a nutshell, I think Will Smith did a good job with Deadshot. El Diablo was good too. I didn't like Jared Leto's Joker, but Harley Quinn was okay, The Joker and Harley Quinn were portrayed too gangsta and too trashy. I think Harely Quinn and Deadshot made the best connection with audience. Cara Delevingne as the Enchantress was okay too. The action scenes were really good and the story was interesting, but I'm a DC fan. I think DC is trying to learn how to present a bunch of characters in one movie. Marvel did it much better, but they have several years of over DC. Batman and The Flash make cameos, that was really cool.

^^ Haven't seen it yet, but that's about what I suspected. It looks like they got Harley perfect, but screwed up the Joker. The tattoos and chrome grill are awful, and he should have the rictus grin. Also, it is a crime that CCH Pounder didn't play Waller. A CRIME.

Eagerly anticipating your thoughts on Star Trek! #TeamJaylah

Anyone see Star Trek: Beyond? I liked it quite a bit- definitely the best of the new series and better than most of the TNG movies. I just wish I hadn't seen the trailer. That was a pretty big moment to spoil.

Spoiler Alert: ;D

The movie was okay. I found it a little confusing. The USS Franklin crashed on that planet and they found ancient technology that made the Franklin crew and anybody they captured look like "Krall" alien. There's some funny moments. The scenes with Spock and McCoy are the best. I like that all the main characters all had equal screen time and equal importance to the story. I'm not sure I like that Zachary Quinto plays Spock with so much emotion, but I still love the character. The best was Jaylah, she's the coolest new alien ever.

It's been a really hot summer. My car thermometer read 105 degress, so I dressed light. I wore a cute half-tee (to show off my new belly ring), some cute shorts and sandals. As it turned out, the theater was fricking cold, I was freezing my butt off. I was hugging my brother the whole movie. I hardly touched my soda.

R check your PM.

I actually fell asleep during Star Trek Beyond. In my defense (and the movie's) i had worked all week and hadn't gotten a lot of sleep, so those seats were sooooo comfy... Nice 16$ nap. But i did need it. I intend to see it again, probably this weekend.

Suicide Squad was a step in the right direction for DC, light years better than emo-teen Superman and Batman the gloating murdered we saw back in may. You can tell DC is trying to course correct. It was terribly edited in the third act, that may be a source of some confusion. Jared Leto has been voicing displeasure at how much of his scenes were cut out, so maybe there was originally more there.

I just saw Suicide Squad. Harley Quinn and Deathshot were the best. I've heard they're going to make a Harley Quinn movie and that Catwoman and Poison Ivy might be in the movie too.

I've heard there's some doubt as to whether there will be a fourth Trek film. "Beyond" felt as though they may have had that in mind. I do hope they get a couple more, as they've put together such a great cast, which now includes Jaylah! Somehow, she's a better developed and likable character than others who had several seasons of television to develop.

Why is Bruce Wayne out recruiting members for the Justice League as... Bruce Wayne?

More "American Gods" details! (http://screenrant.com/american-gods-tv-show-characters-plot-book-differences/)

Nerdist News went deep with the cast and crew of American Gods and discovered that the series will follow a path somewhat different from the novel that inspired it. Far from being a true diverging, however, Nerdist reports that the series will not only cull from the near 600-page edition of Gaiman’s text, but also from the author’s character and plot notes, many of which either didn’t make it in, or were merely alluded, to in the novel.

I LOVED Jessica Jones, and I'm halfway through Luke Cage (I JUST found this thread, I will be here often). Actually, the Jessica Jones comic books (Alias) are the only Marvel comics I read well before there was any visual representation, they did it really really well. I really liked how it ended, and David Tennant did a wonderful Kilgrave/Purple Man. I'm so looking forward to the Defenders!

Nerd stuff has been taking up my whole life since I was about 7. Books, video games, comics, D&D, astronomy, Star Trek, Star Wars, and cosplay the last few years - sum up my interests in full. I'd have to say my main Thing the last 10 years has been the Elder Scrolls game series, I love it more than my parents probably.

No, I'm taking my little brother. I'm very comfortable being sexy and showing skin around like minded adults, but not around families or kids. The worst is junior high and high school age guys and that's 75% of the crowd. They just stop and stare and you can feel them staring.

Dr Strange was really well donr, considering its an entire new angle of the Marvel universe they are exploring. They haven't taken a risk this big since Guardians of the Galaxy, and it once again pays off, especially when you consider how relatively unknown the character is.. Cumberbach is great in the role of Strange. Really, everyone is great in their respective roles. I dunnow how to review any of the side characters without spoiling anything, but pay attention to Rachel McAdams, her characters reactions to some of the weirdness is a riot!

I'd have to say that Supergirl and Superman are roughly equal in power.

Neither, however, would last five minutes against Wonder Woman.

That argument has been going on for thirty years. Both Superman and Supergirl are weak against Magic, and Wonder Woman's powers are all based on magic. Plus she doesn't have a bunch of hang-ups about killing her enemy if she has to. It depends on the writer, but based on the above, WW wins and would probably give both a good run for their money.

That said, WW used to have the craziest weakness in all of comics.

if a man managed to tie her bracelets together, she would lose all of her superpowers, exactly like Superman and kryptonite.

So getting tied up by a man used to be her Kryptonite? Something tells me William Moulton Marsden (her creator) had a few goodies in his bedside drawer. Needless to say, they backed off on that after the late 60's.

though they all pale to powergirl in.. certain...areas......#superkyptonianbustline.. and she even had Harley as a sidekick for a little while, now having the same attributes as the other kyptonians AND able to deal with batshit crazy harley easy gives her a leg up.

but then speaking of leg up, Ivy is actually dating and sleeping with harley and even was there and worried before harley went to save a friend , but paused to beat the fuck out of joker and reject him...think that gives both them alittle more in my book just on an emotional strength level.

none of them are captain marvel though :P

There's a hilarious reason for her, ahem, assets...

According to character writer Jimmy Palmiotti, "Okay. When the character was created, Wally Wood was the artist that drew Power Girl, and he was convinced that the editors were not paying attention to anything he did. So, his inker said every issue I’m going to draw the tits bigger until they notice it. It took about seven or eight issues before anyone was like hey, what’s with the tits? And that’s where they stopped. True story."

Power-Girl has a weird weakness, too... "Natural elements." Any raw, unprocessed natural material. Pretty stupid weakness, since the entire planet would be "Earthonite" to her. The message here is pretty transparent -- take a close look at Power Girl again:

http://s3.crackedcdn.com/phpimages/article/3/5/0/91350_v1.jpg

Does she look "all natural" to you?

This is another weakness that they've totally ignored in the past twenty years or so...

Isn't Power Girl immune to Kryptonite, though? That's a plus.

Of course, none of them are truly invulnerable; they can be hurt by anyone stronger than they are. Doomsday killed Superman- sort of. And Darkseid has frequently beaten him bloody.

As for CW's Supergirl, I was really hoping that it would be Krypto and/or Streaky in that pod. Mon-El's cool, although he also has a ridiculous weakness- lead!

She used to be. She was supposedly the Supergirl from the golden age (As in, the original), so she was only weak against Kryptonite from that universe. They got away from that when someone pointed out that the entire planet Earth would be lethal to her with the whole "unprocessed" thing. What good is a Superhero that can be defeated with a tree branch?

Yeah, lead is inert.

True. The only real source of drama writers can really use is Lois and Jimmy. He's invincible, but they aren't. That gets old sooner or later, though.

Superman was initially conceived of as a Sci-Fi hero along the lines of Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers or especially John Carter. John Carter was an Earth-man who was stronger on mars because of the reduced gravity and could jump really far (sound familiar?). Siegel and Schuster didn't dream Superman up as a Superhero, you have to remember the concept didn't exist yet. So, in recent years writers have been making him weak against magic. So, he now has more than just Kryptonite.

Incidentally, Doc Savage had the Fortress of Solitude first. And a little fun fact: Doc Savage's first name is Clark, while The Shadow's first name is Kent. Ringing any bells, here? :)

I have to go on a tiny nerd tangent, feel free to ignore.

I LOVE Halo. I don't know if this is an overall nerd community thing but in my group of friends, Halo slowly became synonymous with Call of Duty and douchey players, because of the online aspect I guess. I got really heavily in to RPG's around 2007, and totally forgot about Halo. I know they came out awhile ago, but I just got the Master Chief Collection and Halo 5. OH. MY. GOD. I have re-fallen in love and I feel like kicking my own ass for not playing this for so long, I've been missing out. A lot of people still talk shit about the series but it's solid, gameplay is fun, I still love the story and the cinematics...Like damn. All these bitchy gamers I hang out with need to chill the fuck out and play Halo. Seriously. I mean if people don't like it they don't like it and that's cool, but the people I know haven't touched it and just lump it in a pile with other 'generic' FPS.

Rogue one is a story worth telling. I will tell you nothing except: You will see Darth Vader kick ass like you have never actually seen him before. All the rest, all the new characters, zero. Not telling you a THING. They are way better than a spinoff movie deserves.

(You'll see a few familiar faces, too, and done well)
