That's Cormack McCarthy for ya. His ideas for what to write come from a dark, dark place. "The Road" in book form is even harder to read than the movie was to watch. And "No Country For Old Men" - also messed up. There's "dark" and then there's just...."bleak".

Skooma Queen you are not a Khajit by any chance :) Daggerfall in 96 was one of my favorite RPGs.
I'm usually a Breton or Dunmer! Daggerfall is awesome, if you ever feel like re-playing (if you don't already know this) you can download it for free on the official Elder Scrolls website, and Arena too. I don't think you need DOSBox either.

soo many references to Rebels in that film, from the ghost, to hera being mentioned by name, and chopper .... not really a spoiler since there more Easter eggs people may not notice

Liked Rogue One a lot more than I thought I would. K-2SO stole the show. The film also does an amazing job of conveying the scale of the Death Star. It feels much more threatening than it did in later movies. And yes, so many easter eggs!
Spoiler thoughts:
*I LOVED that the central premise of the movie is that the Death Star's infamous weakness was INTENTIONAL.
*I knew going in that Tarkin would be CGI, and wasn't sure if they would pull it off. He was pretty convincing for the most part, although I think they overused him a bit.
*CGI Leia did not work as well for me, maybe because I was still absorbing what just happened to the other characters. They really didn't need to end on an "up" note.
*I got the R2 and 3PO cameo I wanted.
*Loved the Hammerhead ship smashing into the Star Destroyer, destroying the shield gate.
*What was up with Jyn's necklace? It seemed like it was going to be important.
*And of course... VADER. That was straight-up horror movie villain stuff. He's never been scarier.
There was a lot of talk about the extensive re-shoots. If you re-watch the trailers, a LOT of the scenes aren't in the movie, like Jyn's "I rebel!" In the theater, the scene where Jyn has to realign the satellite before transmitting the plans seemed a little odd. There's no point to it. But in an early trailer, a TIE fighter pops up in front of her! What the hell happened there? One theory I read said this was Jyn's original death scene, while another suggested that the TIE was stolen by one of the crew and rescued Jyn from the Death Star's blast.
It's been said that the ending may have changed dramatically, possibly with Jyn and/or the whole crew not dying. I would love to see the alternate cut of this movie someday.

Apart from "Star Wars," I have so much respect for her mental health advocacy.

Yup I know, Almost everyone has really fond memories for Morrowind, but it literally promised the moon and ended up breaking my childhood innocence (biggest disappointment in my life lol).
Skyrim is better than Oblivion though, but you have to mod it like crazy I have a beast of a laptop with an i7 6700K and a GTX 1080 so I put all the texture and gameplay mods I can find (like 50 of them the last I checked).
That said all Bethesda style open world RPGs pale in comparison to Fallout New Vegas.

Saw Rogue One, too much fan service, and that first scene with Vader was so out of place, it hat to have been a post edit.
Still it is braver than most of what Disney does, and the final act was good.

if that movie did ONE thing, it ( and rebels to an extent) it was their ability to make vader scary again. Which in my opinion took alot more effort after what the clonewars and the prequels did to his image - but i admit i loved the reference to Hera and the ghost.
though im still thrilled that Rebels has introduced Thrawn and more or less did him right, more so his love of art.
Reven was almost made canon in clonewars but he was cut last minute which in a way is a shame

Isn't Revan thousands of years old by the time of the Skywalkers?
I liked KOTOR 2 more, probably the best deconstruction of the force in any official Star Wars material.
Morrigan
01-02-2017, 11:47 AM
he would have been, though it was an episode when they were on a world that was a balance point of the force, and anakin was confronted by different spirits from qui-gon, to darth bane and revan was suppose to be one of those.
granted yes im a whore for all things ancient. I love kotor, Tor, tales of the jedi, I really love when there are stories going back to the Ashla, and bogan jed'ai and the concept of the bendu as a true middle ground, the force wars.... and seems they are slowly working some of that into canon,

Just flipped past "Spaceballs" and it's at the part where Yogurt is showing off the movie's merchandise. Their coloring book is actually the same Transformers coloring book I had when I was six, with a "Spaceballs" sticker slapped over it.
I never noticed that before.

when i was a kid i had a huge tub of construxs ( the Erector set of the 80's child) and made a Eagle five and used my SW figures as characters, and taped red dots on my jabba figure to make him pizza the hut. I eventually later on when I was like 16 made a spaceballs tabletop RPG book based on the west end star wars d6...all items and weapons were like " spaceballs the rifle, space balls the jet pack, space balls the comb" usually with a warning at the end of the description that included things to basically protect the merchandiser from liability claims. also included a thing where if incapacitated or dead you could bring in a stunt double. My cousin played a singing chest burster who did russian opera, his stunt double was Rodan ... im such a nerd

The window for the original cast has kind of passed. Nathan Fillion is almost 50, even Summer Glau is 35. Best we could hope for is a new series with different characters set in the same universe (The original cast could pop up from time to time, however).

Can someone please make a live-action Lady Death and Purgatori movie? I know that I might be the only Lady Death fangirl on this site but I just adore her. During the 90s, Lady Death was one of my favorite comic book heroines of all time. I really want to see the "original" version of the movie, before all the re-shoots. There are a lot of crazy rumors about how different the ending was, but more credible sources have indicated that there's at least one very significant change. Did you go back and watch the trailers after you saw it?
And apparently, The Scene That Everyone Talks About was a last minute addition!

I am SO looking forward to this. I didn't let myself get hyped too much about The Force Awakens (we all know what happened last time...) But it was excellent, and Rogue One was also quite awesome despite extensive reshoots and flaws, I loved it. I didn't mind CGI Tarkin and Leia, but I know it's going to look awful in a few years. Like "Oh wow that CGI is sooooooo 2016".
I can't wait to see the big picture with this trilogy, and the rest of the stand alone movies.

I know I'm super late on this but I had to go back on this thread to see what was up. I can't begin on all my thoughts about the Elder Scrolls games because it'll be an essay of opinions that nobody gives a shit about.
Regarding Fallout New Vegas, that is one of my favourite games of all time and definitely my favourite Fallout game. I've played it through about 5 times now and every time my experience is different. The replayablity in that game is insane. Plus it just makes more sense in the Fallout universe than 3. I'm not even going to say anything about 4.

The last (???) two movies in the original saga are going to be so damn sad now. Fisher had already finished her work on VIII, but how will they handle IX? I'm glad they've already ruled out CGI, even though Fisher liked her R1 cameo.
I wavered on Tarkin. It was very impressive at times, but also creepy. The fact that Tarkin is SUPPOSED to be creepy helps. I've heard that people who had never seen the original Star Wars (do they exist?), or at least were unaware that Peter Cushing died several years ago, did not even realize that he was CGI!
Really unsure about the Han Solo movie. I know they want to use more classic characters like Lando, Boba Fett, Jabba, etc., but I'd much rather see something set in the post-Jedi era. I'll wait until I see the new guy in action before I judge. Maybe he'll be like Ewan McGregor and do a fine job...given the material he had to work with.

I cried when I found out, and wore my hair in buns for the day. Lame overreaction? Maybe. But I adored her like many others did/do, I loved watching her interviews (especially the more recent ones) because she's exactly like my grandmother.
I'm looking forward to the Han Solo movie, I more or less want a visual depiction of how he and Chewie became a thing. Other than that, anything goes. Star Wars hasn't been leaving me wanting lately. Although if it is about hella young smuggler Solo, I wonder how they'll fit Threepio and Artoo in there...?

cgi humans: still needs work
The first scene with Tarkin, I thought was really good. In a few scenes, Tarkin has that CGI blank stare make him look CGI. I suspect that as technologies get better, Disney will edit in a better Tarkin and Leia. I wonder if studios are making 3D models of today's actors smiling, grimacing, crying now just in case they need them in the future?
Maybe ILM was on a too tight a schedule to make the CGI really convincing, but if Industrial Light and Magic can't get it just right yet, then nobody can. Please post examples of realistic CGI people you've seen in games or movies. Nothing comes to mind that I mistake for real and my computer may not be able to run a really convincing CGI person.

IMHO Tron. Watch it in 3D - CLU sometimes looks real, where you can forget him, I.e. Uncanny valley crossed. I agree in the first scene with Tarkin he looks aaaaaaalmost there. Also where he takes credit looks good. Leia though, no.
Plus, please all, settle a question for me: why does Leia call him "Governor Tuck" in New Hope? Watched it again and it really sounds like "Tuck" instead of Tarkin. And isn't he a Moff?
