Nightime makes me feel like a scared kid when I'm at a new place alone. The house keeps making all kinds of noises and to top it off, earlier my boyfriend's ex was outside in her suv. She took off once I got up off the couch to see who was out there. Wtf? He's at work and is always at work at this time. Why the hell is this bitch coming here to park herself in front of the house? To be nosy? Get a life!

My ‘refugee’ is from the sticks in Alabama, and when she gets excited or worked up over something, her inner yokel really comes out of the woodwork, and holy shit, it’s impossible to have a conversation with this girl. I thought it was just me of first… I have this bizarre admixture of German as a first language coupled with the rural Weescahmsahn accent which leaves people trying to guess my national origin no matter how much I tell them I was born amd raised in Wisconsin. But no, it’s not just me. A cousin of hers came to visit her once, and listening to those two talk to each other was enough to make my spin. She’s a sweetheart and I love having her here, but holy shit, I wish she’d keep that under control.
LOL....
I have a slight Arkansas influence in my English speaking so people always think I'm from Texas. The official word for that in linguistics is "patois" (an accent that is muddled due to regional influences and pidgin influence on pronunciation.)

These past two days were very hot. I noticed the birds were taking bath below the faucet in the yard. Because the water pipe is all underground, it actually has cold water dripping out of the faucet. I deliberately let on the faucet a bit to make it a sprinkler. What was interesting that I noticed, many birds, no matter what breeds they are, took turns to take shower. They stood in line...like they have respect to each other...unlike self centered, racist humans...
Anyway, that made my day. I thought I share here with you guys.

I have a scientific answer for this- birds have an innate sense of space and grouping in large groups. It's how they fly in flocks without bumping into eachother and will roost in orderly groupings. (It has to do with spatial sense and also how they sense static electricity.)
It is pretty cool. IMO it's also why some bird species seem to mourn the death of singular birds (they have to acknowledge the missing part of the group in all ways.)

Thank You for checking in and showing concern.:-* I appreciate it.
This quake was a big jolt. The kind that freaks me out the most ( like someone picked up the house and quickly dropped it back down).
The last one was a rolling kind. For some reason they aren't as scary.
Tears started streaming down my face ( and I'm not a cryer).
As usual, nobody checked in with me. *Why I prefer to be a loner. I am expected to be there for others ( even if they stubbed their toe). Yet, nobody reciprocates. My Aunt never checked in, after the last one, and after yesterday's quake.
So, when a quake hit her area in northern California an hour later, neither did I.
It is what it is. I've learned to live with that.
Never expect anything from others, and you'll never be disappointed.

I'm sorry you got flooded. I've been there in an apartment I lived in. Not fun, and you can lose lots of furniture, possessions because of water damage.
Just curious. Do you still have any contact with those relatives?

I've been wanting to try Doordash too, but you never know who these people are.
What if bf and I try Doordash and delivery person is some hot girl and she sees my bf and she comes back and tricks my bf into falling in love with her and he breaks up with me and they become soulmates and they move in together and get married and have kids and then I die sad and alone.
Yes, that's how my brain works.
Honestly, I was put off of Doordash due to the time last year that a guy delivered my food and then tried to hit on me. I said thank you and closed the door. Then he had the nerve to get my phone number off my order and text me asking me to hang out and be his "420 friend."
I'm sure it's rare, just like creepy Uber and Lyft drivers are rare, but it ticked me off.

Can't he get fired for something like that?? Access to your info is strictly business related. That's no better than him knocking on your door to ask for a date in person. You didn't hand HIM your number, you gave it to Door Dash. I feel like that violated so many laws and now I'm irritated.

I'm going to be optimistic about this condo I looked at today. It's one level(no annoying, noisy neighbors above me) and no stairs to contend with. I loved the windows because they were floor to ceiling. The living room has tons of them in it. I like that because when the sun is shining it'll give plenty of light to help brighten the place up. Maybe I'm weird but little things like that make a huge difference to me. They'd also allow me to have flowers and plants. Fingers crossed that I get this condo.

He’s dead. Passed in his sleep last night. I visited him every day in the hospital… I snuck him little airplane bottles of booze, he was so upset they wouldn’t let him have a drink. I’m assuming they found the last ones I brought him because I’d also take the empties out to keep it all under wraps. I’m just feeling incredibly sad right now and want to go home, but you get eaten alive if you show weakness in the shop, and I’m booked to give equestrian instruction later today. Guess it really wouldn’t be a big deal to go home early, but I don’t want to deal with the questions which will follow.

I think my new neighbor has gone missing.
She just moved in June 1st. Cute, 20 something Asian girl.
We've all seen her coming and going a few times.
Then...gone.
Her car is in the lot, and hasn't moved for weeks.
Her a.c is off (its over 110 degrees everyday).
There has been a business card from Social Services left on her screen door. It's been there for a couple of weeks.
I always mind my business, and never even talk to neighbors.
But, when other tenants asked me if I'd seen her, because they haven't either, I knew I wasn't imagining it.
I mentioned that she might be dead in her apt. My neighbor said that if she was, then we would smell it.
Would we? I don't really know if we would or not. Luckily, I've never even seen a dead body. Well, one that was a victim of a crime, that is.

^ That's creepy. Unfortunately I have been in the presence of deceased elderly relatives. My grandpa died sometime in the middle of the night in the house when I was pregnant with my daughter..not pleasant. I would imagine there would be a bad smell coming from her place if she was dead in her home for a couple weeks, especially with heat like that. Hopefully a friend or someone came and picked her up and she's just on vacation somewhere, alive and well. One of you can call the police and have them do a wellness check. If she has her vehicle unmoved in the lot, mail backed up in her mailbox, and a notice from social services on her door that has been there for weeks, they may have reason to enter her home to see if she is there.

She's probably dodging a subpoena or a process server.
I worked for a crazy drug addicted lady a long time ago and she would dip out whenever someone came looking for her to serve her legal papers or if any of her old creepy friends came around.

Ew. I just had the most creepy interaction with a man ( in reg. life ). Ew.
We didn't meet ( due to his creep factor ) .... I am just so curious what you guys think. He's attractive and we picked a time / place last night.
He starts in on the texting today ( I wasn't in the mood to text, so I sent a quick " see you there " one ). Then, he suggests coming to his area ( home ) which is my 100% no go zone. Ew. So gross. I tell him I don't ever meet at anyones home. I'm not sure how to explain it ........ just that I know my intuition and it said " NO " so clearly. I was curious so I found his info / ran it through the sex registry and nothing there .
^ Maybe just lazy but ewwwwww.
This is one facet of why I think I need ( another ) break from dating and men. I'm going to think about an action plan for that soon.

I thought of the process server situation immediately too.
When I got evicted, this is what I did. After that first pounding at my door, I packed my bags and left town for a while.
That bang on your door at 6 am (and every few hours after that) is something nobody wants to stick around for.
I mentioned that she's Asian, because there aren't any Asian people who live here.
The only ones I see are working as nail techs, or at the many massage parlors around town.
My neighbor ( who's 74, and a former working girl, and madam). Said, "I hope she's off on some billionaires yacht making tons of money. Because ifI had her body, that's what I'd be doing." Lo!! She cracks me up.
Anyway, someone else can call the cops. I don't get involved with law enforcement. I live a quiet, low-key life.
Maybe that's why our mailbox was tampered with. Perhaps someone was looking for her that way.

^ ^ Ugh! I hate lazy fuckboys like that. They invite you to their house because they don't want to put forth the time and effort of getting to know you, meeting you in a neutral public place, sharing a meal together, and all that stuff. To me, a male stranger inviting you to his home right off the bat is saying,"I'm super cheap and lame and want to be a creep on my home turf so we can just skip to the bedroom activities asap". Gross!
carmen_b

^ Also ..... extremely ineffective.
I'm a horny / busy lady. In the time we spent on this back and forth nonsense and creeping me out we could have had a nice adventure on the town and back to my place for at least some attention. Very strange. It's one of those " can't help those who don't help themselves " situations.
His screening checked out ( FB, linked in, his own business website, no arrests easily found ) .
He has a really nice dick ( yeah, some would say receiving the picture is a no go ........ it wasn't for me haha).
The lack of smoothness in meeting was.
I had a nice drink out solo though.
If he surfaces, I'll just say I met someone at the bar we had the date set up at.
Of course he's texting and calling today ....... ugh.
I use my real # for vanilla dating and I am now re-thinking that.

Umm... you know, I thought my FIL would be angry when he found out our marriage was a complete sham, but it seems he never thought of me less for it. I got that both from the letter he'd written for me and for the fact that he included me in his will. But that gets interesting, and it makes me wonder exactly what his impression of me was, seeing as, among other things, he left me his prized 2006 GMC Sierra 3500 quad cab diesel and all of his guns, ammo, and accessories. Which, for the latter, is not a small number. I guess it's a good thing his son never took an interest in any of those, but if guys were easily daunted from trying to date me before, they'll be scared shitless now if they ever see that collection.
And my sister is going to be losing her parking space in the garage.
And my 'refugee' bought her first car, as well. A 96 Civic hatchback, for just $100! The guy couldn't get it to start and didn't want to sink any money into it. So I went with her to take a look at it, and the guy left us the keys... I guess he figured since we had bobs and vagene, we had no idea what we were doing... and went to go run errands. So I had her turn the key while I was looking under the hood, and I heard absolutely nothing... I figured there had to be a starter relay somewhere, and I was going to probe it to see if it was getting power. So I opened the passenger door, stuck my head in, and checked again. Still nothing, and I noticed the lights on the dash never lit up, so my first thought was that the battery was dead. But the headlights and four ways worked, so the battery had power. So the ECM must not have been getting power. I went back under the hood, found the panel which had the ECM fuse, opened it up, and began probing. I noticed it had input power, but no output power, so I did a drop test across the fusible link, and found out it was blown. Then I used a piece of wire to jump it, and, lo and behold, everything powered up. So she started the car, I plugged in the scan tool I borrowed from work, and everything actually looked pretty good. So I took the wire out, and when the guy came back, I told him we'd buy the car. So he asked how long before I'd be able to have it moved, and I told him if he gave us maybe two hours at the most to get a means to move it, we could have it out that day. So he agreed, and I went to borrow a dealer plate from someone I know, and we came back, gave him the money, then he signed the title over. So she got into my car to drive it home, and I replaced the fusible link, jumped in the Civic, started it up, and drove it back. The look on his face when he saw that was fucking priceless, too.
The nice thing about it is that he had the low profile rims and tires on it before, but put the stock ones back on before he posted it up for sale, and those tires are in really great shape. There are some repairs which need to be done, so I'm going to supervise, and she's going to get her hands on some tools and invest a little bit of labor into it herself. And I have to teach her how to drive a stick shift. Should be fun.

It's really strange, but even as someone who fits the definition of a 'highly sensitive person', I'm shocked and irritated by how touchy a lot of people around me are over petty stuff that I'm able to brush off.
It's exhausting having to baby people to make sure they don't get offended...probably why I don't bother anymore, LOL.
I think people can't face themselves and often can't see that how they're choosing to take something is about THEM, not the other!

Now all I need to round it out is a marriage in a Walmart.
I drove the refugee’s car to the club last night to ensure the roadworthiness of it. It has one of those mufflers that makes it sound like a riding lawnmower on amphetamines. Import sedans are almost impossible to destroy though. I had a old Nissan 2 door sedan and it still went fast, had a working moon roof, and steered perfectly. Some other driver struck it while it was parked on a side street and totaled it. I was so sad.

It’ll be a good car for her. That was some pretty savvy shopping on her part. Guy was originally asking $500, couldn’t sell it, was offered $80 from one of those auto salvage places, so he figured if he could get $100 more than what they offered, he’d sell it.
Learning a manual started today. It’s a good deal for me, also… I get to have these memories without the inconvenience of having had to have pushed her out of my body.

Words mean nothing if someone's actions do not back them up.

Someone told me to use feeling sentences when dealing with men. For example, "I feel _______ when you ________. It makes me feel _____ and I don't like to feel that way." I tried it on bf and he almost immediately showed up at my place and told me to pack my clothes and laptop, I'm coming over to his place. Then once I got to his place he was all nice, hugging and kissing me again, and went to work. I don't get it. Feelings words work on guys or was he just sick of hearing me bitching about his neglectful behavior, absence, and distance lately? He didn't try to get any booty or a blowjob so I'm not sure it's that, although he could be waiting until later once he gets off of work to try to get that. I'm confused.

I get the feeling he's going to try to talk you into a polyamory situation.
Good luck with everything.
Random thought- I'm hungry.

Not just men but anyone in general. “I statements” or Feeling words describe yourself, your experience, and make you seem more human (more vulnerable). Vs. you statements like “you’re always late” “you don’t care about me” etc which come off as nagging, blaming, and the recipient is more likely to get defensive
The only time NOT to use feeling/i statements is when dealing with adversaries ( they don’t care about your feelings), people who have low empathy (they won’t understand your feelings), and the legal system (they want facts not feelings)

^ Using the " I " statements is a powerful thing in person to person interactions.
We ( long term partner and I ) learned them when we were in counseling together.
