Can anyone recommend a retinol serum for a first timer by chance? My skin van be somewhat sensitive and im basically just trying to get rid of soft libes starting to form on my face. I thought about ultas the ordinary ?

Shani Darden also makes a couple of retinols, one that's best for sensitive skin, and it has rave reviews. Might be worth checking out - i was just reading about it, so i thought I'd mention it!

Tbh I'd steer clear of The Ordinary. Every product I've purchased has either been really weak, way too strong, made me break out, or just been poor quality.
This is what I've been using recently https://www.ulta.com/redermic-r-anti-aging-retinol-eye-cream?productId=pimprod2019703 No irritation and it's awesome quality.

I just tried that L'oréal wonder water stuff and I must say, it was interesting to feel it heat up on my wet hair. I didn't put it on my scalp, ends only for about 11 seconds and rinsed. Wow! It felt smooth and soft right away! I am excited to see how it dries. My hair has nice curl, but brush it out, it turns into a frizzy mess.I feel like my hair is going to dry nicely. We shall see.

Update: I like wonder water. Definitely makes my hair look smoother and healthy overall.

Another update: I curled my hair tonight and wow, this wonder water stuff has really made my hair look a lot better. Not fried. Love this stuff!

I am also loving this Trader Joe's rose water face mist I got. It's just a nice little pick me up that at 3.99 (or something like that) is an affordable luxury. I like spraying my face with it. It feels and smells nice.

My InboxDollars experience going on a high note. After getting the InboxDollars signup bonus, I got another 50 cents for completing a brief profile survey.
I also appreciated that I could see a list of polls & surveys available to me, together with the specific dollar (or penny ) amount they are worth. Most sites we tested use factors and determining a survey’s financial value can be a hassle. This list also included the estimated time needed for each of the polls and, for many, the subject. We tested, Inbox Dollars which is a questionnaire aggregator. What's your hair type? Also, are you looking for something hydrating / oily or hydrating / lightweight? Hair type would result in very different options for what kind of mask you'd want to use.

I'm mixed, so my hair is like a 2c or 3a depending upon where the hair is. hydrating/oily is my preference.

Nice! I've heard good things about Shea Moisture's manuka honey mask. I personally looove Briogeo's avocado kiwi mask, and their Don't Despair Repair mask is a cult favorite (I've never tried it since my fine hair weirdly hates protein). Check out the ingredients and see if any vibe with you! Oh! And Jessicurl makes a nice mask, as well as Ecoslay. Links below!

Yes! I hope it's helpful! 2-3 of those are Black-owned for sure, which we love. Definitely make a decision by ingredients, as you and i have very different hair!

Note that Ecoslay is homemade in batches, so while it's a serious brand with a cult following, it doesn't ship quickly, and it also must be refrigerated to keep, as it's a very natural product.

I think I am going to purchase an LED red light therapy wand, and some hyaluronic acid serum. Been using a retinol and it's been great for wrinkles but I need something to tighten and lift.

For tightening and lifting, you may want to check out the nuface or ziip. Only if you're committed to a daily routine, but it sounds like you are, since you're looking into LED therapy. LEDs are good for building collagen over time, but i don't know that you'd notice lifting, necessarily. Shani Darden says the nuface is absolutely legit - younger folks may not notice big results, but it's great for prevention, and older folks with some wrinkles and sagging will tend to notice more results.

I'm honestly going to get back into my nuface and commit to the daily routine. Hearing Shani talk about it reinvigorated me. At least five minutes a day. I noticed results around my neck and lips previously, but the routine was hard for me to keep, since i was trying to use knockoff conductivity gels that were a pain to remove (thick). This time around, I'll be using nuface's 10 oz primer, which comes in a pump - i buy from lovelyskin (free shipping and 15% off since i signed up for four-month autoreplenish, which you can cancel or reschedule at any time, no hassle).

charlie61
04-24-2021, 10:16 AM
And it's pretty easy to get a great deal on the device - i got mine from lovelyskin a while ago, 15-20% - off or something.

charlie61
04-24-2021, 01:19 PM
Oh, and the nuface also has an LED attachment. I don't have it, because i have a separate LED mask, but it could be a nice option to have.

Oh my oh my I got my lips done and I am bruised as FUCK. And swollen beyond belief. Tried Juvederm this time, its supposed to be really good. I am literally red, black and blue. HELP! Lol.

I bruise really easily but this is next level.

How many mL did you get? If you are prone to bruising it can happen. I'm there with ya haha. Avoid blood thinners (ibuprofen/tylenol) the day before, of & after if you can. (I get migraines so for me it's not always possible, but I do notice a difference when i don't take them & get my lips done). Also definitely ice them. Like if they don't give you an ice pack right after bring one with you. Don't worry about the swelling, they won't look that huge when they calm down. Mine look crazy until the swelling goes down.

I got the Moonlight mask! I looked into the NuFace but decided on the mask because it cost less and I wanted it because it has blue and green lights too. I can use the green for some spots I have on my hand. So far I love it! Plus it's nice to meditate with the mask on. I use it for my face and neck. It apparently is also good for cellulite reduction as well! Just put the mask over your body part and beam yourself up! The mask plus the hyalauronic acid serum is making my skin look much more rejuvenated, and I've only used it twice.

Found it here...

I'd do it. Where I grew up an equivalent salon would be Aveda or Paul Mitchell, which have high standards of quality for their workers.

I think my local ULTA has a salon but I got to a different one, I tend to favor smaller salons where I can pick one favorite hairstylist.

I used to have a NuSkin device. It was a lot like the Nuface device. I just get so tired rubbing a device all over my skin so I'd rather just pop a mask on with some meditation music and chill.

I love my mask. Used it 5 times this week already, so now I need a day off.

The face is more sensitive than the body, so, if it works on the face, works on the body too. But try to apply it on a small area for a week or two and if you don't have any reactions, apply it on the rest of the body.
I have the same problem and I've heard that azelaic acid works wonders. I am gonna use it too, I already tested it on my butt (that's where I sutrggle with most of the acne scars) and I had no reaction from it.
I have read that it takes a few months to make it dissapear tho, so I guess this summer I will coat myself in SPF lotions :)))

Exfoliation might be a way to go - do you dry brush? If your skin isn't too sensitive, i recommend dry brushing before your showers, lotion after showering.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0158S5BIY?ref=pd_basp_dp_primary

You could try an inexpensive glycolic acid to fade the spots:

https://www.paulaschoice.com/skin-revealing-body-lotion-10pct-aha/590.html

Be careful of overexfoliating, though, if you're dry brushing and using glycolic acid.

The Ordinary also sells a very cheap glycolic acid product.

That's my understanding! Home microneedling on the face is kind of a controversial one. Stamps are better than rollers. But home versions are kind of not recommended anymore, for a few reasons. I'm really hoping that we can put together a custom facial of CIT, microcurrent, and LED therapy to complement my home microcurrent, LED therapy, and tretinoin regimen. Professional treatments are obviously stronger, so i want to level up with in-office monthly facials, and maintain between visits with my home stuff. Really just about prevention at this point. I'm hoping CIT thickens the skin on my forehead a bit, as i have just the start of some unnoticeable fine lines that i could imagine becoming more noticeable in the future.

TL,DR - I'm crazy. :)

I usually opt for Ulta. I've had really good and really mediocre experiences, but never a bad one and I've had my hair done multiple times at a few different ones over the years. Plus their point system rocks! I buy a lot of makeup, so usually save up my points and put them towards my hair.

I think my facialist mentioned that if you're prone to rosacea or broken blood vessels, then you should avoid treatments like that, since the huge amount of force coming out of those machines can exacerbate some issues. Not sure if that's relevant to you, but it hadn't even occurred to me until she mentioned it!
