Also, my friend had a 'no cellphones allowed' policy at her 90s party since there were no iphones back then and she just had a few disposable cameras for party photos.....she just had the photos developed and we all look HORRIBLE in every.single.photo. LMAO. I'm sending my one friend the pics and she's like 'Omg no wonder I'm having such bad luck with men,' and my other one is like 'I really can't be 40 and not exercise,' and I'm like 'I'm never partying again if that's how I look when I do it.' It's just not a glamorous time for us right now.

I never know what to do with my pubic hair when I go in to see the doctor. I got laser-hair removal like 5+ years ago, so I have some very minor, wispy, patchy regrowth. If I shave it, I look like a baby down there (great for work, weird for your OBGYN?). If I don't shave it, it looks weird, too. Like, if I shave it for the doctor, it's obvious that I shaved it, which makes it weird, like I'm trying to make my pussy look good for my doctor? smh.

I am so sad about the state of my hair. Due to stress & hormone problems it's so thin and ugly. I am going to have to see a doctor about it.

^I am in the same boat. I end up losing a big clump of hair every time I wash or comb it, it is definitely not normal shedding. I think it must be stress and lack of sleep, because I eat well and take a shit ton of supplements too. I want to have hormone testing done but am having to spend a lot of money on other things this next couple of months so will have to wait a while.

Speaking of supplements, I do not want to jinx myself but I think my insomnia is being helped somewhat by magnesium...I have tried it before but this time around I'm taking a high strength version, and taking it in the morning and evening which seems to have made a difference. I have been able to sleep 4-5 hours a few nights this week(my standards are so low at this point anything is an improvement).

Coming to the end of the first month of the collagen supplement...no idea if it is doing anything for me.

This is the one I take...as you can see there's a US store too, and is also available on Amazon. I really like the brand.

I take one capsule first thing in the morning and one late at night, as it is best absorbed on an empty stomach. When I buy supplements, if they say 'take one or two per day' I usually take one, mainly to try to keep costs down. But since I decided to go twice a day with this, sleep seems improved; I haven't changed anything else.

Okay so for anyone who was thinking about electrolysis, it is a LOT more involved than I was aware of. It's actually like a 2 year journey because the hair has to be electrocuted at every growth cycle because the electrolysis only actually completely destroys the hair follicles during a certain stage of growth so you have to catch all of the cycles. And there's 3-5 months between each cycle and there's no telling how many cycles you will go through, it's different for everybody. So it's a long term commitment. I went to my second appointment today, I love it so much.

Also on the subject of beauty stuff, I feel like I'm the only person who actually liked Gwen pulling a different look: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3610622/Gwen-Stefani-s-make-artist-defends-Billboard-Awards-beauty-look.html I think something about the brows were off, like maybe too thick and too pointed for her face, but overall I thought it looked miles better than that same makeup look she always wears. I have a pet peeve involving super pale girls who wear that bright crayon red-colored lipstick, Gwen and Dita von Tease always do it and I do not like it. Something about that crayon red color with the super white skin just reminds me of Ronald McDonald. I think pale girls look great in reds but maybe not that shade.

Genoveve, would you add some info (or link me) to this thread about your braces and your experience with them thus far? Now that I will have dental insurance again, I'm interested! Any information would be helpful - type, price, pain, visits to dentist, progress, annoyances, people's reactions to them...

^^^My braces were around $6800, not counting another $600 for X-rays, however I don't have traditional braces I have 'Damon Method' ones and they tend to cost more: http://www.colgate.com/en/us/oc/oral-health/cosmetic-dentistry/adult-orthodontics/article/what-are-damon-braces-four-things-you-should-know-0814 Mine also don't hurt much, when they change the wire(with the Damon Method you don't have the wires re-tightened, you have different wires put in each time) some teeth will be sensitive but it's not too bad, I don't even take any advil or anything for it and I have a very low pain tolerance. You just probably won't want to eat anything really crunchy or really chewy for 2-3 days. Granted the D.M. braces are supposed to be less painful than traditional braces but honestly even when I was a teenager and had traditional braces and was a major pain wuss I don't remember being in much discomfort when the wires were tightened.

For most of the year I only had to go to have my wires switched out once every 8 weeks but just recently it's been switched to every 6 weeks, traditional braces need to be retightened I think once a month which still isn't bad.

I think the general point of the D.M. is to avoid tooth extraction, so if you have orthodontists wanting to pull some of your teeth and you do not want to you might want to consider finding an orthodontist who does the D.M.

The only annoyance for me is that eating out sucks because you will get stuff stuck in your braces, there's no way to avoid it. You will have to learn the art of discreet teeth-picking because you WILL have to do it. Even if you try to take teeny bites only chewing with the back teeth, food particles have a way of floating all around and you will still get stuff stuck in your front brackets. I would not go on a restaurant date with a guy because of this, my only options for dates is coffee until the braces are off.

As far as other people's reactions, there are none lol. I don't think I have had one person ever mention them to me in person, aside from friends and family, and none of my cam regulars mentioned a thing when I had them put on. I have had random guys on cam and on my instagram tell me that they're really sexy but that's about it. No one cares. My ex said they were barely noticeable.

I was actually super self-conscious about the idea of having braces but I got used to them super fast and now really like them and will be sad when they're gone, I feel like they're a really quirky detail and I like that they're uncommon.

This is soooo helpful!! Thank you!!!

I just have extra spaces between many of my teeth - nothing too crazy - so I'm hoping my case won't be 'complicated' (crazy-expensive). I'd never heard of the D.M. Super super helpful.

How did you choose your orthodontist?

Genoveve
05-28-2016, 10:27 PM
^^I found him years ago when I was first researching my options and I saved his info in case I went the braces route, I'm into holistic dentistry and he was the first good holistic orthodontist in my area that I found. And the last because I was like 'If I go this route, he's the man.'

You probably don't need to worry about the D.M. then because it sounds like you have enough room in your mouth as opposed to too little like me. The D.M. expands your palate so that you have room in your mouth for all your teeth and don't need any pulled, you don't sound like you would need your palate expanded.

I'm going to Beauty Techniques in Houston. A lot of places only do extensions now, but I don't want to deal with that hassle. This is basically just a permanent curl (till your lashes grow out anyway, so 4-6 weeks on average). I'm getting more and more lazy with my everyday makeup routine, so not having to bother with daytime mascara sounds nice.

I am covered in spots and I want to cry. I'm clearly having hormonal issues, I honestly can't remember ever having spots all over my face like this past my early teens.

The moon is fucking with me...I had a very early period last month, which never happens, and this week I read about the rare occurrence of four full moons between March equinox and the June Solstice. There would usually only be three during that time period but this year is different...so I believe I've had an extra period because my cycle has adjusted... fascinating but also really inconvenient.

I avoid dairy, take extra zinc, drink lots of water...I don't know what to do. I started vitamin D a few months ago and I think it can increase testosterone...I take it every few days now instead of daily but I do actually have a couple of spots on my neck and chest so could be a factor. I think its helped lift my mood though. FML

you can google the name or check on ebay thats where i bought all my wigs. short wig i got for 80$ on ebay, new in box with tags. feels very soft to touch, nobody would even guess its a wig even if they would be very close to you, you can check on youtube vids too.
you can also check revlonwigs.com they are nice too.
I had very short hair and very bleached blonde hair in the past -i would never do that again to my real hair, but Ilove to wear different wigs, short blonde, long blonde, black hair. short hair hard to style, i have very soft baby alike hair, everyday i used to style them because after sleeping they would end up like a punk. noooo never again!

My hair has been dry, and unhealthy looking, since I moved to an extremely hot and dry climate.
Nothing worked. No high end shampoos, or condioners. Not even coconut oil.
I ran out of shampoo one day about a month ago, and just grabbed my bottle of baby shampoo, that I use to wash my makeup brushes. My hair transformed to smooth, silky, and shiny! I have very long and very very thick hair that is processed. Amazing! Just wanted to pass that little tip on to you.

I've been too lazy to go get my hair done and now I have some roots and it's making me miss having my natural dark hair mixed in with the blonde. I like the dimension, I feel like having darker parts makes my eyes look darker and stand out more. My stylist had just finally gotten my solid blonde to the shade we wanted and we always rant about how fucking sick and tired we are of seeing balayages everywhere and now I'm going to have to go in there and be like 'Yeah......so can I have some lowlights put in?' LOL

I do my own root touchups mostly, I use Sally's Ion prods & love 'em. I was going to a stylist, but I kept telling her about my sensitive scalp..she used that sweet n' low (yes the fake sugar) & it didn't help me.
So I use the sensitv developer, & an additive too, & voila.
I even brought some to the salon last time, but she didn't want to use.
Fuck paying some $ & now I gotta deal w/an irritated scalp?

Finally made my hair appt and the soonest I could get was 2 weeks away grrrrr. Also annoyed because I got chrome nails for the first time which is that silver powder they buff into your nails to make them super metallic. They usually do the silver on top of black nail polish because that's what really makes it look like metal, whatever color you buff the silver into will tint the silver. I've seen people doing it over pink polish to have silvery-pink nails so I asked my nail guy for a blue base, and rather than picking a true blue like I was imagining he goes with this really bright teal that looked more green than blue. So I now have silver green nails and not blue at all. Fortunately they still look cool as fuck and I do happen to love green nails but it's still not what I wanted. Next time I'm going to try for a real blue or maybe purple.

I also wanna say, I do go get professional haircuts, I can cut my own hair (small trims only) but I feel it makes a big difference to get it done professionally.
Last time I went, my sylist ask me, "Did you get your color done"? Hahhaha! I just said no, but I do my own touchups, see above post. He kinda likes to gossip, so he's trying to find out & tell the other stylist (they use separate stylists for color & cutting)

Budget makeup bullet points-

I had to buy over $100 worth of drugstore makeup for a special event & learned all this-

* Hard Candy Makeup Primer is AWESOME. It's so smooth, it may have cornstarch in it. I regret being a lazy cheapass & not buying it sooner.

* Physician's Formula has more awesome eyeshadow pallets (glitter) and other skin-friendly products. I've bought a lot from this brand due to having wacked out skin & I have never hated any product from them

* NYC lipglosses are the bomb. In fact, there are a lot of perfectly acceptable makeup options at the drugstore...NYC, ELF, Rimmel & Wet & Wild continue to surprise me in positive ways. I feel like we as consumers get bombarded by ads for high end makeup when in reality most of us can buy cheaper duplicates of department store makeup.

This combined with doing a coconut oil deep conditioning ( the cap on overnight), has transformed my hair from dry, brittle yuck, to silky smooth, and healthy.
I knew it was working, because total strangers are once again complimenting me on my hair, and guys are reaching out and touching it.I just threw away like 10 wigs, because I don't need them anymore.

Only use restylane under your eyes for this reason. I've used it twice and the results *can be permanent because your body creates scar tissue around the filler. Juvederm and other fillers are thicker and last longer which is why my dr won't do it in the tear troughs.

Just a tiny bit of restylane can take care of sunken eyes.....with a skilled dr the results are beautiful. Wrong dr and wrong filler and you are looking at disaster. Aka squinty puffy eyes.

I have a really good dr in Beverly Hills who did mine with restylane. I did it once. Loved it. He's great, but I'm on the east coast. Kinda of a hassle.

But anyway, he did my NL too. That restylane lasted me over a year. Juvederm with another dr last me 9 months.

I was hoping fat would be good bc it's long lasting.

I was hoping fat would be good bc it's long lasting.

I was just looking into this a little bit today. The thing that put me off of it though was that it takes months to actually see your results. This is what I read:

Once that process of neovascularization (new blood supply) has been established, the fat grafts not only survive in their new environment but they thrive. This process can take several months to occur. The general rule of thumb is that whatever you have by 2-3 months is your lowest point. It will not get less, but you might see an increase in fullness over the following year as the fat grafts make the transition from survival to returning to their biological natural ways of storing fat.

Which I mean that all makes sense and is fine and dandy but um I like to walk out of the doctor's office with my results then and there. I'm not interested in waiting months to see my results, especially when I might want to tweak them and if I do then I'd have to wait more monthsssssss for that.

I guess I'm sticking with fillers. I want to try a new place for filler too, I don't have anywhere picked out though and I need to make an appointment soon. There's a place near LA I really want to go to but I am so not in the mood to drive up there. Just driving to Disneyland recently was annoying enough, it's so much more convenient to use a doctor here.

Have you tried tea tree oil? My mom used to add it to my dad's shampoo. It apparently has antibacterial properties that kill the dandruff fungus.

Oddly enough tea tree oil doesn't work for me as well as other things. I like the smell of it though...

Other haircare tips that I have to share because I'm going through a lot of work fixing my trashed hair-

* Alternating shampoos & daily scalp massage plus extra massage during shampooing. It's tiring but it works. (One cause of slow hair growth or hair loss is "muck" on your scalp suffocating your scalp. This is why some users of Wen hair products experienced hair loss....the residue from that product causes some people to smother their scalp.)

* Wrap your hair. It used to be a super trendy look. If you don't like the look just do it at home. Your hair gets rubbed a lot while you sleep, which leads to breakage & split ends.

* Run your brushes/combs through the dishwasher. Have a nice brush set.

* Proper nutrition will help you more with hair growth than putting Monistat on your scalp or silica horse pills. (Those things help too but eating right is the easiest one to do.)
