I say I'm doing sales work or virtual assistant - doesn't matter what you say though if you work from home I find everyone thinks that means never works at all and keeps asking me if I've got a job yet. To be fair though I am looking for something for a part time job so I have money I can rely on as well as camming.

I loathe when nosy ass people ask "so what do you do". Like why should you care what I do? As long as police isn't actively looking for me (not doing anything illegal) and I don't ask you for money - it's none of your cotdamn business.

Most people only want to know what you do so they can size you up and try to calculate how much money you make and what your class level is so they can determine if they want to hang out with you.

Only time I'd want to know what a a person did is if I'm going to fuck them. I'd want to know everything about a dude whose going to enter my body but other times I don't give a sh*t what people do. As long as they look put together and never ask me for money. I can tell if a person is worthy of keeping as company by their actions.

The most annoying question ..... Ever.

"Oh, I'm a drug dealer." :)

Sike! Lol. It'd be hilarious, though, watching their facial expressions. They'd probably never wanna talk to you again after that. Haha.

I got uppers, downers, coke, speed, pills, weed, junk, smack, and min yo fuckin biness.

How about I don't get much work so you won't see me leave the house much. But when I do I get paid hella $$$$ to hide the body. ( All said while looking bored like it's no big deal) :0

I've been tempted to do this before, just to see the looks on people's faces

A lot of my friends think my SO just pays all of the bills and we have one friend who is always bugging me to get a job or making comments about how I dont work. He wanted to move in and I wasn't having it, apparently I shouldnt get to make decisions about who lives in my home (because he thinks I dont work full time) so he told my boyfriend "but seriously who pays the bills", my boyfriend shut that shit down but still
I would love to just deadpan face look at him and be like "Im a drug dealer", shutting him up would be great.

Best job in the whole entire world! Where can I apply?

I really just want to say I mind my own business for a living!!! But I think that's too snarky.

I tell people the truth, with the exception of my husband's family and my grandparents. He has asked me not to tell his family, so I respect his wishes. For them I just say online sales and occasional naming gigs(which both are true, just don't make much).

I just watched an interview with a new dad( some actor. Can't remember his name).
When asked about how things were going with his new baby he mentioned things were great because they have hired a Night Nurse.
When asked what that was he replied that it's a nurse that comes in during the night time so his wife and he can get sleep. She makes sure, that when the baby is fussy or needs to be changed or fed, that the needs are taken care of. BRILLIANT new career idea for when I go back to only working late nights. Love it!
NO more late night calls or even early am, for that matter! Why not? Because I'm taking care of the baby! And need to sleep in the day!
*Edit to add: I used to tell guys when I stripped that I was a nurse. Had a lot of repeat clients because of it. Lol! Oh, they must have thought.. Look at the stripper, she's so nurturing. Ha ha!

My daughter has been telling my mom over the phone that "mommy works on her computer while I'm at school" so I was asked what that's all about >_< I told her I'm working on affiliate commissions for my blog and writing guest posts for more established bloggers.

Side note: I recently looked at a place to live
When the property manager asked what I did for a living, I told her that I did online customer support.
She said she had done that as well.
" Isn't it the BEST job, she replied? " She goes on to say, "The part I like the best, is that you don't have to put on any pants!"
Lol to myself. If she only knew

Who knows? My partner and my accountant. I told a friend two years ago when I started and her BF freaked out and they broke up not even 2 months later. Put a big strain on our friendship, she moved across the country last summer, we haven't spoken since.

I seriously don't even Fuck with people who are going to obsess over "so, what do you do?" Oh god, is it one of those get togethers? I'm about to go smoke weed at home with my cat.

I just tell them I do freelance marketing and photography, which is technically true so I'm not lying completely, I just don't go into full detail.

I wonder how did you tell your landlord because a lot of them are very discriminatory toward sex workers.

I told her I am a webcam model. She didn't seem bothered by it. She also schedules times for maintenance to come when I need it. I explained that I can't have them knocking on my door when I'm in the middle of something.

And, can I move into your building?

I tell them I''m a sex worker. If they ask me what that means I tell them. Some people I need to be delicate with so I tell them I'm a copy editor/proof reader which explains working from home, mad working frenzies and odd income.

I own my flat so no complaints from the landlord!

I don't know if she knew when I told her but I'm sure she figured it out after I gave her my pay history.

You are more than welcome to move into my building but you'd better act fast because there is a waiting list. :)

I stop at freelance.. If prodded for more I say a little bit of this a little bit of that or research, really boring mind numbing research

EDIT 9/18: I just changed this to Freelance Digital Marketing. I have consistently watched peoples eyes gloss over and the only thing they can says is, "Wow, that sounds cool."

I am genuinely interested and beginning to study. Apparently, there are several digital marketing avenues so if you take the Google Challenge (free & only a couple hours) it will give you the basics so you can walk the walk (SEO/SEM, Social Media Marketing, Graphic Design, Content Writing, Web Analytics, Conversion Optimization). Now I know we do our fair are of conversion optimization for these box sites :-)

ALSO, I was computer shopping and told the sales reps I needed a computer capable of gaming. they asked why and I said i needed the processor for all of my digital marketing... it was effin brilliant. They were like oh oh oh yea, totally get that... they had no clue :-D

:-) cheers ladies and gents

Many people know what I do... but since I'm a motorcycle mechanic, I tell some that I sell motorcycle accesories online, to other countries that don't have access to that kind of things at a lower price lol but the truth is that I was planning to do that at first, but it required a bigger investment and too much risk, economically speaking...

Hey everyone!

I am about to start the filing process of my first tax year, but Ive hit a bit of a snag...
My tax lady has started to ask questions about what exactly it is I do "What is your business activity? it’s easy for us to understand transactions if we know what does your business do?"

I work as a graphic design generalist but it is nowhere as stable and profitable as my camming.
I put down my lighting equipment, Drawing wacom, computers etc as existing assets

So I was thinking... I tell them I'm an artist/design generalist who does tutorials and streams online

OR

Im an artist/design generalist who also gets naked on cam for money :blush::blush:

I'm a painfully private person so this is awkward af for me omg. At the same time I know she is just trying to do her job and needs as much info as possible in order to help me..

Suggestions? Im in Australia just btw :heartbeat:

I always say "honesty is the best policy" I feel like if you have a question about it then maybe you already know the answer. If you consider yourself an artist then that is what you tell them. If you are a cam girl then tell them that. It is all in what you believe.

It's better to be open with your accountant. That's why it's best to find one you click with and can trust. If they know what you do (and hopefully have some experience with this industry) they'll be better able to help you get all the tax breaks and tricks you can x

Mine knows what I do and he's the one who came up with the term "photography business"

Tsani

I would tell her about the camming unless doing so could put you in danger of being outed (if she's a family friend, etc.) If she's a professional, she shouldn't have any issue with it. She'll probably be seeing the companies you're getting paid by anyways. Being honest with her should help her best determine how to treat your income, assets, and deductions. For example, you wouldn't be able to deduct clothing, cosmetics, etc. as a graphic design generalist but you might be able to as a cam girl. It's also easier to justify the lighting equipment as a deduction that way.

If you absolutely can't bring yourself to tell her, then I'd say at least including that you stream online for tutorials/whatever would help a bit. Or you could say you do online customer support via skype or something.

Disclaimer: I'm in the US so I'm not sure how taxes differ in Australia.

Be open. You pay this accountant to do your taxes. Not to be judged. If he gives you shit, find a different one. Then he loses a customer, not your problem :)

Honesty is the best !

First off I'd find a man. Women can be really snarky about what we do, and she may not help you with everything like she's supposed to. ( ie deductions) This is also why I keep my tax guy even though he moved out of state. I loathe telling a new one what I do.

I always tell people who i think might be shitty (family, bf's family, old people, randos, etc) that I do social media management and freelance writing/editiing for bloggers. I can talk out my ass about blogging because I ran one over the course of some extended travelling. For tax people I usually say I do live streaming and YouTube because the deductions are in the same category regardless whether or not I'm naked, though I handle most of my own shit.

Haha I have two jobs that need 'covering'. I work on cam and the other job I work is as a seduction instructor/dating coach... or in creepier terms, a pick up artist. xD

I usually just say I'm a 'teacher's assistant' and then hand the accountant the credentials from the dating company I work at. It's technically still an internship but hey with all the JOI I do on cam, I might as well have that title, ya know?

As the title says lol. I'm going to be traveling through multiple countries on my vacation and am sure to get asked this at least once. Like if I say marketing or sales and they call me on it and say what do you sell?

Oh this is just for my vacation so I'm not taking any camming supplies or even a laptop but being asked your profession is a fairly common question and I don't want to say anything that would raise any eyebrows but I don't want to flat out lie either as that could get me in more trouble if I was caught

I think I like the "online customer support". Funny I saw this thread just moments after getting off the phone with my father who is worried sick about me when he found out I lost my vanilla job earlier this week. He asked if I had found anything yet and I was falling over my words so just ended it all with "I'm still looking". But come next week when we talk again, I will take the poster's idea of the "online customer support" and say that I found a job doing that. Explain its commission only but he knows I've done telesales from home in the past so I can make that believable. Just need to make up a company and product to go along with it!!!!

I've been showing the house to real estate agents all week and while I have my naughty stuff hidden away (collapsible storage ottoman is a great hideaway for toys and doubles as a footrest!!), I have my ring light, webcam, and two iMacs out on my desk, so I just tell them "I'm a freelance internet marketing, photography, and graphic design coordinator" try to make it sound as official as possible while remaining as ambiguous as possible haha
