View Full Version : Period Thread
Just came on my period like a hour ago. I feel like I have the flu. Currently curled up on my couch feeling like a human Petri dish. In one week I’ve had my period with a cold, pinkeye and milia. In short I feel like shit.

I'm in the same boat with the period flu feeling.

I'm going hard on borage oil (for the GLA) and raspberry leaf tea this month, to try to help lessen symptoms even more! I've been struggling with breast soreness lately. Starts after i ovulate and continues until the first day of my period.

Oh, and magnesium glycinate seems to have been helping. I keep it by my sink, so whenever I'm in there, i pop a couple of them.
Green smoothies help me pack in antioxidants and phytonutrients that help my skin, physical health, and mental health immensely.
Also, cutting down on coffee helps me. I have coffee once a week now. All other days, just tea and tisanes...
Lifestyle changes ftw!

I'm positive I'm not pregnant but my period is three days late and I really wish it would start already. I have to fly on Monday and then am attending a conference and I really don't want to have to run to the bathroom every two hours. And yesterday I could smell it but still no go.
Edit: a few hours later and it's all good finally!

Any other ladies have Endometriosis? I just started on estrogen-blocker medication this month and (TMI WARNING) I'm having the heaviest period I've ever had in a long time with lots of black clots. Because of this I've been sleeping on my couch because black leather is a lot easier to clean up a mess than ruining my expensive mattress. I've already talked to my gyno who said that this could be a side-effect of the medication. It scares me. The last time I had bleeding like this was when I was 14, was taking a birth control pill , for whatever reason bled for 3 months non-stop, and had severe anemia. I'm paranoid that that's going to happen again, except now I am on estrogen-blockers. Before I was on birth control pills with estrogen in them. I've started taking multivitamins with iron in them, just in case.

I've had such periods for years after I gave birth. Not much cramping but scary heavy and with alot of clots, ugh! What helped was multivitamins for women, but they did not help from the beginning. Progesteron cream helped too, so in my case was too much estrogen. I guess too much or too little has the same effect. Also, moving to a warmer place has helped a bit, but honestly, I think it changed in time too... Also, using a menstrual cup has helped with the length of the bleeding, I do not understand exactly why but now I bleed only for 3, at the most 4 days, from which only 2 are really heavy (I used to have 7-8 days of bleeding). I can live with that :) But then again, for some reason I have periods 13 times a year, not 12. Looking forward for the menopause lol...

Coffee seems to have a significant, negative effect on PMS breast soreness and acne for me. I don't know why i have to relearn these lessons over and over again. Someday I'll just remember not to fuck with stuff that clearly has a negative effect on me.
I ordered spearmint tea after remembering that it can be helpful for androgen balancing..

So my periods have been fucked up lately. It all started in June. I talked to my Doctor and she is gonna run some test on me. I think I am gonna go on the pill to regulate myself. I have not been on the pill in forever. Any who this months period was the worst. My whole life I have been veryyyyy blessed with very light periods. I could use a regular absorbency tampon with no problem. I had to go buy super tampons and change them more frequently. I even went and got super plus and pads as well. Having a very heavy flow is so gross and something I have never dealt with. Hopefully my Doctor can help me solve my issues.

I would like a birth control to shorten/lighten or give me fewer or no periods. Any suggestions?
I tried implanon and I had 2 week long periods every two weeks :( Never again!
Also if anyone recommends anything can you tell me where I can get it/ how much it might cost?
I have insurance (only one more year ..Jesus take the wheel) and usually just go to planned parenthood. I dont really have a primary care physician but can get one if needed (planned parenthood just easier x)
THANKS!

^^ Implanon is every anemic hoes nightmare lol. My period would last for 28 days (every other month) when I had that thing in my arm. The flow was so heavy that I was always dizzy. Curious to know what forms of BC lighten periods, too.
I have the Mirena IUD, period is normal with it.

How long is it going to take before my body is well enough to resume having a cycle??? I'm not exactly looking forward to my period but I need it to happen so that I can be sure everything is back to normal.

I used to have pretty "normal" periods every 28 days. Not heavy and lasted about 4 days. I actually started taking birth control pills every day and skipping my placebo at the end of the month. As a result, I don't have a period unless I don't take a few pills in a row. I know a few people aren't comfortable with this but I think it's pretty useful for anyone who has bad and heavy periods. I started doing it because I waa tired of dealing with a monthly mess, and I don't want to have anymore kids. I'm currently thinking of getting the copper IUD as a method of bc because I'm tired of hormones. I feel like my libido is starting to disappear and it's the pills. I feel like it's just a trade off.. You either deal with hormones and side effects or risk getting pregnant.. I hate it :-\

Maybe I need to sit next to 3 bitches on their cycle. This is concerning.

Has anyone here tried Lysteda? If so, what was your experience?
I have extremely heavy periods and birth control is not an option (makes me gain weight and turn in to a first class bitch without making my periods any lighter). Thinking about trying it to see if it makes my periods more bearable.

My period came today. I always throw up, but at least this time, it was in the morning before I had eaten anything. Looks like I'm going to be having cramps all day.
Bleh.

I love modern medicine. My period was four days late and when it finally started I felt like hell. 30 minutes after taking Advil, I feel totally fine.
