I see people mention San Fran, but I thought it wasn't a good place for travellers?
Hawaii's a good place to dance...

I will go there next month.
Croatia is gorgeous and looks like taking a step into an old world. If you go somewhere like Dubrovnik you can get a ferry over to Venice,Italy too. My brother in law is from there and he knew all the cool spots to check out.

I haven't taken an entire week off in years and have never really been on vacation. Always too busy studying and working. I've been having a lot of existential questions lately and I am not really happy. This year has been difficult and intense, I only have 4 days off after my last final exam before the summer semester starts and I can't imagine returning to class so early. I really need to take at least a week off to clear my head, even if it means missing a couple of classes (I'll just listen to the recordings).
I've always wanted to explore the world. One week probably isn't enough to go to Europe (maybe at the end of summer classes...) Have you ever travelled alone? What destinations would you suggest?
I want to find answers to questions I've been asking myself the last few months. I am not sure if a sunny beach is the best place to go, although very tempting, so I am not opposed to the idea...
I need your help!!
I'd go to Costa Rica! The beaches are killer this time of year and it's cheap as we are on the cusp of rainy season. Don't go to the volcanoes tho.
"Costa Rica’s Turrialba volcano erupted early on Thursday morning, 30 miles east of the capital, San José, spewing a cloud of ash, gas and rocks. The country’s National Seismological Network (RSN) released a video of the explosion taken with an infrared camera and showing the force of the blast.
“It was a single explosion but a really strong one. This means that there was high pressure inside the volcano,” Javier Pacheco, a volcanologist with the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI), told local newspaper The Tico Times."

Japan is awesome and you can certainly do a lot in a week, but I'd recommend at least 9 days, especially if you want some down time cause YOUR FEET WILL DIE YOU WALK UNTIL THEY DIE. Srsly though Japan is the bomb.
There's a member living there named papillonluvr and she might have some tips!

Big trip: Thailand (I've heard it's stunning and that the people are amazing)
Small trip: Sanibel Island, FL (though I haven't been since the hurricane a while ago) for a beach vacation, or a cabin in the mountains of North Carolina for a more introspective, lowkey, woodsy vacation. These cabins are gorgeous (been there twice): http://www.watershedcabins.com/
YASSSSSS! Those ALL sound good.

Underrated European spots:
Lisbon (Portugal): great food, lots of history, lovely people, lovely city.
San Sebastán (Basque country in northern Spain): great food, beautiful town, lovely beaches, lots of fun on friday nights
LaValetta (Malta): Lots of history, almost everyone speaks English, great beaches, italian cuisine culture, very relaxing
Amsterdam: everyone speaks English; great town, great museums; food is not that nice, but if you go to Indonesian restaurants (there are lots) you will be ok.
Libon and Basque country are BOTH on my list! I met a Portuguese dude who has me AMPED on seeing the city! Also the Basque food I had in America was BOMB!

The two countries on my list right now are Ireland and Israel. If anyone on here has been there, I'd love to hear about it.

I've travelled pretty extensively. But I have some favorites. They are: Paris, Capri (Italy), Bora Bora, Kyoto, Copenhagen and Hawaii (I love all of Hawaii).
Aside from Israel and Ireland. I still want to go to Iceland, back to Australia, back to Spain, Singapore, Thailand and China.

It's great for travelers!! But like many big cities, you're only going to get to do the touristy things, which is okay if that's what you want to do. Like you're not going to know where the underground parties are or weird art events, for example, unless you live there or have contacts who avidly live there. I find most of the things I go to by word of mouth or friend's Facebook events. This is true for all major cities though. It's no different.

To answer your question about Dubrovnik, Croatia
It's a very beautiful city. Lots of churches, sightseeings. People here are also beautiful. :)

Greece is overrated. I would only recommend two cities: Santorini / Σαντορίνη, Athens. Don't waste your time at other cities.
Croatia is a must go. Dubrovnik and split are very interesting places to visit.
I Just arrived Italy (Venice ) :)
