I applied for this factory job nearby..
It said you could work 10hrs, 4 days a week..
However, I asked for 2nd shift, & that wasn't available?
Anyway, it's assembly line,( which I despise) it's also 40 degrees cause it's food..
It does have great benefits, but I'm not sure I could stand all the time & work that fast.
I'm supposed to start next week, but I was already to have had my surgery, & it's not til a month from now.
Idk if I passed the background stuff or not.
I guess I'll have to text the lady to find out.

I'm upset. I went through the entire process - phone interview, online assessment, and in-person interview - for a technician position, and never even heard back. What pisses me off is that my husband went through the same process, same place, had our interviews on the same day (it was a group presentation followed by branching off into individual interviews), and he at least got a rejection email 3 days later. He kept telling me for days afterward that the fact that I didn't get a rejection email was a good thing because it should mean I was going to get an offer. A week later, and nothing.... why did he at least get a rejection email quickly while I got completely ghosted? I even emailed my recruiter on Friday, like I was told to if I hadn't heard anything by the end of the week, and never received a response. I could have been a week into dealing with the rejection and could have called back a nice restaurant that reached out to me right before my interview.... instead I wasted over a week of my life waiting to hear from them, and now it's too late to call the restaurant back.
I just don't understand why I couldn't be given the courtesy of an email like another person who interviewed on the same damn day by the same damn people? Plus his rejection email included a link to a special networking site for future job postings... and I don't get that?
Anyway, I have no idea what to do anymore. I obviously don't have the experience for these types of jobs, but nothing I'm qualified for pays shit. All the entry-level jobs I find would pay even less - I get that they are entry-level, designed for 20-somethings who will work their way up to a decent wage while they live with roommates and eat ramen noodles. But I can't afford that shift in income for a foot in the door of an office job. I feel stuck, and at this point I think I'll just have to roll with it to pay bills.

^I was honestly inspired to get back into vanilla work purely out of fear. I knew 100% that i wasn't a career sex worker, and i was terrified that i wouldn't be able to find a career path in the vanilla world. I knew that i needed to just *commit* to a job and to stop jumping around from random job to random job based on my shifting interests. I knew i needed to adjust to a 40-hr work week, because working only a few hours a week was horrible for my mental health (anxiety, depression, obsessive thought patterns...). If you know that you don't have the energy or desire to start your own business or be a career sex worker, then you need to start adjusting to vanilla-world inconveniences asap, IMO. It'll only get harder to adjust to as you get older.
I really got to a point where i was so grateful for an hourly wage + benefits that i didn't even care that the hourly wage was somewhat low. In the last two years, that smallish hourly wage has more than doubled due to my high performance. I am so, so thankful that i just committed to a smart bet, stuck with it, and trusted that path. And that entry-level job has opened the door to countless other internal opportunities at this company, which I'll explore if i get bored with my current position.
I think entry-level jobs like that are great options, because they tend to be low stress, which gives you the time and emotional energy to supplement with sex work if needed until you work your way up into higher pay grades.
Just my experience! We're all so different.

I am *so* glad I have a vanilla job and 'path' as much like Charlie, I've been scared to commit to being 100% a sw and I've done it full time and it stressed me out. Also it's just too dicey and risky for me. I love having cash at hand always and walking away with it after working, so I am waitressing. I also get a steady paycheck and I feel good about my job. I still get paid to talk to men and serve customers in an ideal fashion (not having to flash 'em :P). My goal is to gain experience so that I can apply to restaurants where the bills average over $100 so my tips are even better. Bartending is still something I'd like to dab in to as well for the cash factor. I will substitute and always be in SW one way or another for now even if it's just once a month because I'm just too intrigued not to and the money is just so damn good!

Wtf are with some of these recruiters out there? My vanilla side gig fixing computers isn't steady yet so I applied to a 24 hours a week help desk position. A recruiter from the place that I applied to(I guess it was a recruiter's listing) contacted me back and said that they would hire me after I went through 15 weeks of Monday-Friday 9am-5pm training, unpaid. Where do they get off on expecting almost 4 months of unpaid work? That is a major dedication of my time! I told them no, I need to pay my rent and bills and have a child to support. I'm not some young teen or early 20s who's still living at home with mommy and daddy, free of charge and adult responsibilities. Vanilla jobs are pissing me off lately.

^ Um, that's insane. I've never heard of that. Ridiculous!! Sounds sketchy.
I highly recommend applying to jobs in larger companies. They tend to have streamlined hiring processes, paid training, and good benefits.

Where was the recruiter from? Time spent in mandatory training is required to be paid.

I'm going to make a list of what I need out of a job. In my case, it is flexibility/mostly daytime hours to match the needs of my children. Then, look for jobs (or in this economy, even gig-type jobs). I'll use that as a starting point, and make adjustments as necessary. Or maybe just look for part-time work, too, since I plan to have more than one avenue of income.
I've also found it helpful to look at jobs in my area by googling positions and my city. Like "delivery driver in XXX" or something along those lines. Google actually returns direct job results, which is pretty cool. I think for now I will start with teaching English online positions, since I can create my own schedule with those companies.
I'd love to hear what everyone else is doing!

^ I need to find something as well and hopefully I can stick too it.
I noticed a problem I have is accepting jobs I know I will hate just for a quick check. This time I’m going to write a least of desires and ABSOLUTE deal breakers and STICK to it. Until I find a position that offers me most if not all things.
P.S. Can I ask you guys a question. How do you handle medical insurance when your job doesn’t offer it? I have insurance through the state because it was required and I qualified for it. But if I get a job that pays less than $40 per hour I can’t afford my bills and insurance/ medical needs. And I don’t have the skills to get paid $50 per hour. Most jobs I’m qualified for will pay state $12 to $19.Any tips?

Whirlez, yes, Indeed and Glassdoor-thank you for reminding me! I always forget to sign in to Glassdoor, lol.
Queen, I've debated accepting call center jobs just to milk the training portion. It's usually at least a month of paid training, and it gives you time to grab something else if the actual position isn't going to work for you. But I like the list of desires and dealbreakers! Such a good idea.
I wish I could answer the medical insurance question. I'm on state right now because that's what I qualify for.

I was hired but, in the process lied to by the recruiter regarding the job description and hours. She seemed pretty nice, (slight snake in the grass though) and not very upfront about some important things that I quickly found out was crucial. Now stuck working crazy hours that leave little to no time outside work such as preparing dinner, cleaning, studying, showering, ect. Looking for another job on the side, while collecting what I can.

Has anyone heard of this job staffing agency before?
Its called ReqRoute, inc.
This is the job that i feel might be a scam for personal information. They said they are a national staffing agency. But when i read the reviews on indeed and glasdoor most are from Phoenix, az and most have super bad grammar issue that a person who doesn’t speak english would have.( I of all people shouldn’t be judging someone grammar im to lazy to add commas & Capitalization). Lol. And on the website indeed i think, I saw one review saying its a scam. But that the only think i can find of the company.
What do you guys think? Has anyone heard of them before.

If you have a car and no DUIs you can get hired easily at Shipt. I've been working as a grocery shopper/delivery to get me through the pandemic and the money isn't bad and the schedule is flexible. It's not a bad gig and you get tips too. I don't make a lot but it is getting me through the pandemic until congress reestablishes a stimulus package. If I hustle hard I can make $200/day. Easy gig. I usually average about $100/day. It's something at least. Plus you have the flexibility factor too, and soon they are giving us the daily cashout option as opposed to us getting paid weekly. Good company, worth looking into limo. Shipt.com

Heyy everyone,
I hope all of your job searching is going well. So I have exciting news, I got accepted for an assignment with Nextrep taking customer service calls for doctor’s offices! Sad news, they want 11 days of training, unpaid, and the training is 8 hours per day.!! So that’s 88 hours of my life I’m not being compensated for and the actual position is only paying $10 per hour. It truthfully makes me feel like shit to accept such a low wage. However!
I’m not going to complain and I will be grateful for this opportunity because it’s completely work from home, it’s flexible and most importantly it will pay my rent, when my PSO work can not even do that. So, yes I am going to be super grateful for this opportunity, keep hustling with my the PSO work, work on growing my blog and starting my english tutor side hustle.
Wish me luck!
P.s. how is everyone?

Honestly, it is not a bad gig. You are still an independent contractor, you choose which runs you want to go on, and you can make decent money but there's a strategy to it. The closer it comes to the delivery time, the more money they offer you. Sometimes it's a gamble because someone else may claim it, but there are times I've made up to $30 plus tips for a single run which may take less than an hour. Then when you get good at it, you can do two orders per run and make double the amount. I have done as many as 3 medium-sized orders at a time, but I try to arrange it so that they are all going to the same zip code. And you also get tips too. I like to set my own hours to mornings and evenings so I can take a nap in the afternoon and do my other personal stuff, plus I feel that it's safer with covid. And if you do get sick or you're waiting for test results, the company will pay you during your sick leave,. Say if you did get covid-19, they will pay you up to two weeks sick leave. Plus they offer you sanitizer, wipes, and masks for free and will ship them to your house. I like it because even if I'm in a shity mood, I can still do this job because mostly you're just texting with people and you can easily fake a good mood by putting in Smiley emojis and stuff. You just have to communicate well with the customers If an item is missing or if you want to substitute with something else. You're not going to get rich off this job, but let's say if I put in a good 8 hour day and hustle hard I can make up to 200 dollars plus tips. It's getting me through the pandemic. Right now I am on unemployment, but that only offers $169 a week. With this job I make about $500 a week. I can make more, but right now I'm just trying to get by without catching covid. It's pretty easy to get hired too, you just have to do a video interview and send it in, along with filling out a questionnaire. Easy to get hired, easy job to do. At the very least, it's a decent side Hustle.

Yes, you can totally Cam and do this too. The other thing I like about this gig is that you don't really have to talk to anyone except to text them about their order. Even if you're a bad mood, you can still fake your way through it by adding happy face emojis in your text messages. It's pretty easy. Whenever I would get tired of working at the club, I'd switch over and do this to make some money. It helps. Hope you hear from them soon.

Thats what I like about Shipt. You schedule your hours, you choose what area you want to deliver, and if you can drop orders if you aren't feeling it w/out repercussions. Pressure free job. Plus you get regulars and figure out who all the tippers are Lol. There are a lot of aspects about this job that parallel stripping at the club.

I’m planning on leaving my current job in about 6 weeks once I get both covid vaccines.
Trying to look for work around the area, which there isn’t much unfortunately.
Today I see a listing at the local hospital system so I went to their site to apply and now I’m completely worked up and disgusted with American work culture, yet again.
Website wants you to upload a resume, but then you also have to spend 20 minutes filling out all the mandatory sections on the website for education, experience, etc. Why???? It’s the same information that’s on the resume I uploaded.
Then for job experience they want your last 10 years of work history. That shit pisses me off so much because I danced full time for 8 years before I went to grad school. I actually have a lot of pride in myself for what I did and I think it helped me develop character; I also worked at one of my clubs for 6 years which I feel speaks well of my potential as a long term employee. But nooo, I can’t say that on an application or they’ll blacklist me because of social stigma...
Then in the experience section for every job it asks if they can contact the previous employer for a reference. If you check No, a box pops up that asks why not, and it’s mandatory to fill out. Are you fucking kidding me? How inappropriate and invasive. I don’t think I should even be required to provide references until I’ve had in interview.
Then after all that there’s a whole nother section of the application where you have to list 3 professional references, even though you just provided all that info on the employment history section.
In short I feel degraded and disrespected just from completing the application, and that’s before even knowing if I’ll get an interview. Whatever, I don’t even want to work for them now anyway.
This local guy I’m dating better friggin appreciate my effort because if he wasn’t in the picture I’d be applying for 1800/week travel contracts in sunny warm states right now.

^I do think job searching is one of the most degrading / humiliating things I've experienced. I mean, i understand why the process is the way it is (employers have SO many options that they have to come up with hoops for prospective employees to jump through... they have to narrow down the candidates somehow). But it's humiliating.

Yeah, I was able to grow a thick skin about it when I was applying for jobs back in September and doing multiple applications a day. But I guess my guard was down and that stuff poked my sensitive spots!
They ended up calling me back for an interview the next day. There’s not a lot of PTs where I am which works to my advantage in this instance. (It’s creating huge problems and hella stress for me at my current job, though, which is why I’m leaving)
It turns out the job is for the home health setting and those jobs typically pay 100k or more. Although being through a hospital system it may be a lower salary but more generous benefits and time off.
Regardless of the outcome I’m extremely excited to have a reason to get dressed up! Haha it’s been almost a year since I got to dress to the nines.

I forgot to post a follow up about the interview I went to for that home health job-they ended up calling me a couple days later with an outrageously low offer. $33/hour and no mileage reimbursement. I would’ve been prepared to settle for $45 if the benefits and mileage reimbursement were good...$33 is just disrespectful. HR called me 24 hours later offering a $7500 sign on bonus but it’s still too damn low. Plus imagine if I stayed there more than a year and all of a sudden I’m getting a pay cut because wouldn’t get the bonus again?? Hell naw.
I know it probably sounds like a lot of money but to put it in perspective my bf who has an associate degree in my field made $33/hr at his first full time job out of school... I would be a sucker to accept that. He’s been talking to me about per diem opportunities he knows of in the area and is encouraging me to ask for $60 an hour when I do start applying for more work. Love having someone like him on my team because too many ppl in this field just roll over and accept shitty offers from employers.
I’m halfway through my second to last week at the nursing home right now-put in my 2 weeks last Saturday. I feel beyond burnt out to the point where it’s affecting my physical health so once I quit I’m going to take at least a week to hardcore chill out before I look at new opportunities. Grateful to be in a financial situation where I don’t *need* to have another job lined up right away.
