Cabin dinner was boneless pork chops , apples in a pan hot , and fried potatoes.
Three ingredients ( plus oil or butter and cinnamon ). I make this every couple weeks.
I love it being simple.

I’m baking a frozen four cheese pizza today for lunch and dinner. I have to preheat over and bake so I guess that considers cooking!

^^ yes it does! I sometimes throw a pizza or cut a bread in half and put whatever i have in the fridge on it and toss it in the oven, lol.

Super duper tip that I meant to tell you about last time and I forgot :)) : stoooop using tin foil on warm food !!!! The aluminum transfers on the food and goes into your body. Use baking sheet instead. Use aluminum foil only to wrap cold food or stuff like that, or even use baking sheet as a layer between food and the aluminum foil, if it's still warm.
Idk if you noticed how it's a little brown where it touched the food? That's because that whole layer has been absorbed by it.
If you need to wrap the food (such as potatoes or salmon), buy trays that have a lid!

I have stashes of baking sheet at home, I'd put a layer of it even when I am heating the food in the oven.
Ok done, haha.

I went for the ingredients and the store was completely out of green beans. The second store only had it in pre-packaged bags because they were completely out of loose ones. I guess there is a big demand for them on July 4th?

Thanks for pointing that out. I just recently learned this. I've always used tint foil because that's how my food turned out best but no more tint foil cooking and baking from now on.

The pizza turned out so good. I prefer frozen pizza at home instead of take out.

Same here! Only prepackaged were available. Yesterday I made chicken picatta with green beans and roasted potatoes.

Any sauces you like ( like a pre-mix bottle ) for seasoning tofu for stir fry's ?
I'm going to try to make my tofu and veggies scrambles again but it needs more flavor.

This veggie cooking IGer I love does a sauce with like 10 ingredients .... uh ..... no.
haha

I cooked chicken wings today..

Also bought fresh organic ingredients for a stir fry: fresh asparagus, vine tomatoes, mushrooms, firm tofu

I did make the chicken/rice/green bean recipe, it was good but I wasn't thrilled with the baked drumsticks because the skin didn't get crispy:

57453

So now every night as I eat the leftover string beans and rice I make fried chicken drumsticks instead:

57454

And today I made a keylime tart which I think looked better before I toasted the meringue:

57455 57456 57457 57458

I brought my neighbor a slice and it seems like it's been his favorite of everything I've made so far, I'm gonna make a lemon version next since I still have extra egg whites in the freezer and since he liked it so much.

Unfortunately I used way too many eggwhites and this is how much meringue I had leftover:

57459

I used it to make 'meringues' (quotations because they NEVER come out right when I make them), they're still drying out in the oven. I'm glad I'm making this post because I totally forgot they were in there.

For the longest time I had no idea there was purple sweet potatoes. I baked some yesterday and they were awesome.
The texture is a bit different from regular sweet potatoes and for me, in a good way.

Made Bouillabaise soup. We wanted to order, since we were craving and it was like $15 for a serving. Fuck this, with $50 I bought frozen mussels, shrimp and other fish and I only used a quarted or what I bought, for a whole pot. And obviously was tastier and with more seafood than restaurant.
57467

For the soup I used tomatoes from the garden, that are finally starting to get ripe. They are sweet, juicy and flavored.
57468

Peppers are good to eat too, finally:

^^^That looks beautiful. I have been craving mussels lately too.

I made beef bourguigon and I was disappointed. Like 6 hours of work and it tasted just like a pot roast.......I've had it in restaurants and don't remember it tasting like that. I really don't think chuck was the best cut for it even though that's what Julia Child said to use.

Got two boxes of yellow cake mix from Trader Hoes. Can’t wait to bake. I’m sure they’ll smell so good!
I would buy just by how pretty the packaging is!

^ OHHH report back !
I want to get one and try it !
My Grandma made these simple box cakes with yellow cake and chocolate frosting ( cocoa , butter, powdered sugar ). I'd probably add a little whipped cream cheese to the frosting. Damn I want a cake ha.

I FINALLY got the green beans ! I had Walmart deliver groceries. I can't wait to have some tonight.

Ohhh I used to get cake mixes when I didn't have a cake shop around. Now I have 2 high end cake shops on my freaking street, so I am lucky to just going downstairs my apt building and get some fine stuff to indulge. Today I bought ice cream, Magnum and Haagen Dazs are my favorites!!! I am not really making deserts anymore, with so many options hahaha.
I lately made an obsession for salted caramel ice creams, so... that's what I am having lately https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/305833135

^ There is a really good bakery near me too and it's safer ( calorie wise ) to just go every 2-3 weeks v.s. having a whole cake around.
I would have to wait for the right time to make one when people are visiting.

Marina Starr
07-12-2022, 12:19 PM
I will, hoping I won’t fuck it up.

Get some now while you still can because Trader Hoes don’t restock special stuff once they’re sold out.

You just gave me an idea to have some whipped cream with it because I find icing too sweet. When I order cakes I always request mousse icing. Much lighter and less sweet.

My hoe baked yellow cake turned out perfect. It’s not burnt and the top is supposed to crack. That’s why you have to level the cake with a sharp knife before icing!

Last night all I wanted was donuts and an iced matcha latte (which is weird since I dislike matcha) so today I did what I had to do:

The middle donut was a blueberry glaze experiment.

Honestly there’s not much that makes me happier than donuts.

So I went to my AirBnB and got a sweet score.
I feel like I'm on that cooking show where you get the ingredient basket.

I got :
very high quality bread ( this huge loaf )
califlower cut up and bagged
carrots pre cut
other odd and ends

I am thinking of cutting the veggies and bread up a little more and making a hummus tray out of all the stuff I got.

Other than the obvious (pancakes or French toast), does anyone have any suggestions on what to use it on?

Lemonade sweetner, pour over a bowl of chopped fruits, sweetner for hot/cold porridge.

Had some cheese and ham leftovers and some bread that was going dry, so I threw everything in the oven. The base was homemade pesto mixed with homemade tomato sauce and on top, tomatoes from my garden. I can easily tell this was like some pizza bites lol. Great breakfast anyway.

The avocado was simply mixed with chopped onion and the dressing was blended garlic with lemon juice, salt and olive oil.

lol, yes girl pig out. I didn’t know you like donuts, I’d gotten a dozen and you could have six.

I wanted to get some cookware now that I’ve stopped using foil. The all ones I saw at Walmart was aluminum plated, is that bad? Is no aluminum possible?

Awww :)
Speaking of cookware, I know cast iron is the shit and it doesn't beat anything (I don't have yet, but I eventually will start replacing my pots and pans with it) and also ceramic, but good quality ceramic cookware is fucking expensive... I also know stainless steel ones are pretty good, also there are some aluminum coated with non stick layer ones, PFOA free, that could be ok.
For any baking tray I usually use baking sheet, I rarely put things right on the tray, other than that, I use stainless steel or aluminum, coated with non stick layer pans and pots, but I take care to change them at the first sign of scratching.
I usually use dishwasher liquid detergent, because it doesn't scratch the surface and they last at least a year that way. Lately I take care to wash them by hand only, because I realize that the dishwasher is mattifying the surface quicker.
I am also using only silicone spatulas when maneuvering anything, I have 5-6 silicone spatulas hahaha.

Soo, go for aluminum ones that have a non stick layer (make sure it's PFOA free) but take care to not scratch the surface and replace it, once it starts showing signs of it, because, once scratched, all of that micro dust and particles from the scratch will get into the food. So, if you don't have silicone spatulas, get some as well. They are super cheap.

I just got the raspberry filled donuts ( a dozen) with my Wal-Mart grocery delivery order.
I was so excited because they've been out of stock for a year.
I freeze what I don't eat, and they still stay fresh, amazingly.
I put them in the microwave to heat them up.
It's a ooowy gooey delight.
