I believe there were always extra girls in the strip clubs, just hidden from the public and they were paid a lot more for this mystic. Managers and owners also regulated their business much better with stomping the trash out to keep their glamour image .

I wonder, if escorting were either legal or completely decriminalized, would we still have this issue in clubs? Would the issue significantly decrease?

My initial thought is that it would actually increase. I think the appeal of club extras vs. actual escorting for a lot of girls is the convenience of a club full of potential clients that they can roll through one right after the other for quick cash. If selling sex were legal, even more girls who were simply refraining due to being scared of repercussions might go for it since they wouldn't get in trouble anymore.

But that's just my thought. Maybe someone who dances in a country where escorting is decriminalized could chime in with what they've seen?

I think it would decrease it tbh- part of the appeal of escorting out of the club is the ability to spend time with the client beforehand to find out he isn't LE and respects boundaries. In places where stings don't exist and ladies don't have to hide what they do that becomes less of a factor. In a place where escorting is legal, it might be more of a time waste to try to pick up clients in the club when you can freely advertise the exact service you provide.

Edmonton has been sort of "unspoken decrim" for a while now- if you have a city escort license you'll basically never get busted, and girls working in the parlors can call the police. If you're outdoors or unlicensed though that's when you get tagged. Extras are virtually unheard of in our strip clubs (except for one) but part of that is most of them being owned by the same management group who is really diligent at enforcing their rules.
