Its interesting to see a new world order come to light in recent years and how the general population globally has a completely different veiw on politics compared to the past. Politics can no longer be the old boys club (globally, not just the usa or uk) and people are getting fed up with the elitest forcing what they want down our votes, so what do we do? We vote for the options of change. The change may seem dark at the begginning but it can only get llighter after the darkness.

Hillary won the popular vote but this was how Trump got elected. What a shocker!
Just attributing this to race and gender is probably overlooking the very significant issues of trade and the economy. Ironically, Clinton had an economic platform that favored the working class more than Obama's platform in 2012. Yet he won PA, MI, WI by 5-7% margins in 2012, and Clinton lost all of them last night. Her campaign chose not to focus on the economy, and instead on sexism and racism. It's a tough lesson to learn, but I guess money beats white guilt. Maybe the Democrats will work on different platforms to bring the working class vote back.

I've been dancing on and off since 1996. And my bet is that we'll have less money in the stripclubs. I hope that I'm wrong. But I don't think I am. I can provide economic details. But too tired after watching the election results so late tonight. I'm definitely sad.

A business man won the white house. That's it. That's all that happened, really. He blusters a bit to grow his name and gain notoriety by saying wacky stuff. And it worked again. End of story. There's no crisis. No reason to be afraid. People are shocked mostly because they started believing too much of the Democratic party's BS about doom and gloom. But the truth is republicans aren't the devil and dems aren't martyrs. It's a two party system. Both are legit. Both are trying to help. Dems focus on more direct bribery techniques, giving you something shiny in return for your vote. Republicans focus more on helping those same people by making sure the economic system is healthy so the people have opportunities to succeed BY THEMSELVES, so it's REAL success, more genuine, and the nation has more money to spend on lap dances, for example. It's a battle to see whose ideas are more effective, it's not a battle between good and evil, for crap sake.
Republicans have been demonized by the democrat BS brainwashing for decades. The real reason Dems were afraid of him from the start is they realized they were finally faced with an opponent whose BS was as strong as theirs. Romney had no chance because he wasn't playing at the same level as the Dems in terms of how far they were willing to go with pulling stunts and the horrible slanders they were willing to spread, etc. (Like sending thugs into trump rallies or to actually put their racism on display by attacking trump supporters horrifically). The Dems have been the devisive race-baiting fear-mongering party for as many election cycles as I can remember. They just spin it better. And the media's job is to give the Dems a free pass for this and paint the Republicans as the racist party, all the while the Dems are the ones obsessed with race. It's bizarre that people keep falling for it. So Trump beat them at their own game. But what wasn't reported is how, after he stirred people up to vote using Democrat-like tactics, he then retreated from all the bigot ideas like a ban on Muslims or massive deportations. That stuff isn't going to happen, because everyone else in power told him it wasn't happening, so he backed off of it. But of course the media kept reporting only the literal wording of something scary he said a year ago, in their attempt to railroad Hillary into office, which is what they do, because they're all heavily biased Democrats and last night it was hilarious to see them with tears still in their eyes as they had to admit they weren't successful in brainwashing people this time. And yes he has a history of treating women poorly. But, um, at this time I'll just mention..... Bill Clinton.
The country will be fine. Economic help is what we need most. And we finally have someone in office who understands a little bit about how to help. It's not the worst day ever. I feel badly for the women who really really really wanted one of their own in office so badly they were willing to make themselves feel enthused about Hillary, but you know what? It still matters WHICH woman gets there. Give me someone I can feel good about voting for, and I'll vote her ovaries into the white house real hard. This just wasn't the one. No more dynasties, man. No more Bushes, No more Clintons. Doesn't smell right. Let's move Forward! Plus all the legal baggage was too much. Eh. Anyway, trading back and forth from one party to the other keeps the nation healthier than starving one party out. And you have to admit this was the more interesting result.

A list of all the lawsuits and investigations that Trump is currently involved in going into the White House http://www.politico.com/story/2016/11/donald-trump-court-university-231082 It also touches on the lawsuits that he has filed against people. These are the sort of things that will take up his time while he runs the country.
i'm sorry, but let's not act like trump didn't break the law as well. isn't sexual abuse considered illegal? he admitted to this kind of behavior. & now his accusers have come forward. trump is not better than Hilary as it pertains to illegal behavior.

After watching all 3 Zeitgeist (http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/) movies and grasping their full meaning, the realization hits you hard. The death of democracy happened over a century ago and the whole presidential election thing is meaningless as to the actual power struggles of the faceless elite. If you want proof you can talk all the trash you want about Donald trump but go throw a brick through Sundar Pichai's car window and see how miserable the rest of your life is ;D

I'm hoping we are in a new era of the site. New ownership and hopefully a more considerate group of members. In the bad old days a thread like this would have blown up into DRAMA. Whoever helped Hillary dodging the federal justice in the past needs to be removed from the next administration. DOJ needs reform. Director of FBI needs to go. These people bent the rules for Hillary are also breaking the law and their work code.
Plus, if it's possible, we need to change our voting process. The electoral college votes have to reflect the popular votes proportionally, in which Hillary could have won this election. But that's what the real democracy is about. The "all or nothing rule" is absurd.
I'll break my rule to say I agree and I think term limits should be put on Congress so they can't logjam like they have the last 6 yrs.

That forgotten man thing comes directly from President Roosevelt.
"These unhappy times call for the building of plans that rest upon the forgotten, the unorganized but the indispensable units of economic power, for plans like those of 1917 that build from the bottom up and not from the top down, that put their faith once more in the forgotten man at the bottom of the economic pyramid."

Most of Trump's voters have been doing pretty well economically, at least the voters in the primary. The median income for Trump primary voters is $72,000.

The shitstorm he can cause is entirely dependent on how many people on the senate are willing to back him, as far as terrifying shit like revoking human rights, nuclear weapons, trade, foreign policy...
What I'M terrified of are his supporters. Hate crimes are going to sky rocket and we must be vigilant. People are going to die. We just validated 50 million white supremacists, and if you think that is exaggeration/me being dramatic, check yourself. Already reading personal accounts of women getting their hijab ripped off, violence, open hate speech.
What I've learned is I am still naive to how strong the pull for white supremacy is. Please donate to anti hate groups, vote in the midterms, and most importantly, SPEAK OUT. Every time you're afraid of being a buzz kill or straining a friendship, relationship, etc. FUCK IT. Ruin thanksgiving dinner. Who cares? Do not be silent when you hear bigotry. We got here in good part due to white silence.

Gore won the popular vote not too long ago, he still didn't become president. Campaign strategy has to take the all-or-nothing electoral college system into account and aim to win key states and the districts within them. She specifically lost three deciding states (WI, PA, MI) that were Democratic since Clinton's first run (i.e. six straight elections). And her economic platform favored the working class even more than Obama's in 2012. She just decided to have a campaign strategy centered on accusations of racism and sexism. When median wages have stagnated after accounting for inflation, and wage gap continues to widen, it's clearly not just race and gender. The Clinton campaign either didn't understand this or ignored it, and that's why she got swept out of those states. Also, Van Jones literally ends the video saying "I know it's not just about race, there's more going on than that."
We just validated 50 million white supremacists
All the alternatives were white. Before any accusation of "you're only saying that because you voted for the same candidate," I voted Johnson.

one major factor (among many) that I find extremely worrying is the fact that Donald is clearly personality disordered. at the very least I believe he is a narcissist. while i'm sure some would argue even worse down the spectrum. these individuals are extremely destructive & hate filled. they also will usually sink the ship with them. we have a rough four years ahead of us. if he even makes it that far.

It does look like she will win the popular vote by a proverbial hair. But the electoral college system still exists for a reason, which is to give the populations of very small states a voice in the general election. In its absence, a handful of states with large populations or even a handful of the largest cities would be able to dictate policy for the entire country. Each state has its own identity and culture and the system ensures that each one has at least a small voice, though the big states still get the lion's share of the electoral college votes. Hillary only took 20 states plus DC, which means that a majority of the population in 30 states voted against her.

Yes, but simply voting for a racist doesn't make you a white supremacist. He got 53 million votes, and 50 million of those voters are white supremacists? Comparing the 2012 and 2016 ballots in the deciding states (PA, MI, WI), ~690k more people voted Obama than Clinton, while the total votes cast in these three states remained about the same (~13.4 million in 2012, ~13.6 million in 2016). It means people changed support for their party, and it's unlikely that within four years they suddenly became white supremacists. It's not logical to write off these particular voters' displeasure with the last eight years as racism. You really can't imagine a voter putting aside offensive comments for their projection of a better future in other aspects?
