ahahaha....sorry. I'm from Montreal, Canada. I forgot most of the girls here are from the US. I don't speak French but I can read it Semi-OK thanks to mandatory French classes in public school. I wouldn't be able to translate though, I just thought it would be easy enough to check out the specs :)

I was going to buy off kijiji which is sort of like Craigslist but I think I'll order something refurbished off amazon instead. if anyone has a suggestion for something in the 500-700$ range; with i7 and 8g of ram suitable for a beginner who will eventually splitcam, hat would be lovely :)

So I plan on building a beast ass laptop just for camming but I'm not ready to invest in that at the moment. I've been wanting a Surface pro 3 or 4 for personal use (mainly to be able to use it as a tablet) but I'd also like to use it for camming until I'm ready to get my camming laptop. I'm wondering if the versions I listed below are able to handle splitting.... SM(sm broadcast 1280x720), Cams (Obs 1280x720) and Imlive.

Surface pro 3- i5-4300U, 128gb, 1.9ghz, 4gb ram
Surface pro 3- i7-4650U, 512gb, 1.7ghz 8gb ram
Surface Pro 4- i5-6300U, 128GB, 2.4GHz, 4gb ram

The surface pro 3 and 4 sound similar to what I have. I have about 2.4ghz, 500+gb, 6gbram with an i7 and it splits like a dream with two sites free chat sites but not more than that. I do use webcamsplitterpro which helps. I am currently still looking for an all-in-one pc which can handle at least 4 live sites. My laptop only have a 22" screen and I want at least 32".

Ok thanks. That's great, I'm going to make the purchase now right. I'm kind of excited, its been such a long time since I've bought a new computer especially a lappy.

I came across 2 all-in-one's, one was 27" and the other was 32" I'll see if I can find them.

Yuss. You deserve it! I forgot one reason mine doesn't split more than two (though I stay logged into non-freechat eggs galore) is that my internet cut my upload in half so it's only at 50down/5up. I can't wait to get much faster net. Good luck on your search!

If Anyone has any recommendations for i7 Asus Laptops or any other brand would be great!

I've bought 3 pre-packaged gaming computers and they all worked well. I didn't have any problems with them. I'm still using and camming with 2 of them, gave the other one to my mom. I think it all depends on what you need and how you will be using it. The next computer I get I will be ordering the parts and custom building it. The only reason I'm custom building it is because I want a computer that will allow me to split as many sites as I want at their highest spec without having any issues and I also want to be able to edit content (4k if needed) at the same time as well. I don't think a pre-packaged gaming computer will be able to handle that nor do I want to take my chances. I'd rather build it and make it/have it exactly how I want.

I am an on-again, off-again webcam girl. I have not been on cam for at least a year now because texting had become my main job. Texting has pretty much dried up now. I used to be able to hit my daily goal within 6 hours, but now it seems like I am on from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed to reach my goal. I work for a texting company that provides the clients for us, so I really have no control over the traffic.

I am not able to afford a very expensive laptop right now and have never had good experiences with used laptops. I know there are threads on laptop/computer shopping already, but they seem to be a bit outdated. Would it even be possible to find a new i7 laptop for around $500-600? As long as I look for an i7 laptop that says it is good for gaming, would that most likely be strong enough for camming?

Ok, I got an i7 Lenovo off NewEgg.com, for 300. (refurbished).
I'm not w/it rn to tell u all other specs, but I thought it was a decent deal, w/feature Needed for camming. Not saying I'm an expert now
The screen's smaller also , which I liked/wanted to take outside if needed.
You can put in certain specs you want, & it will pull up what they have which I like too, lots of choices for the specs (& merch too)

You can start at the beginning of this thread and read up on how to shop for a computer. There is so much information provided on this forum already. Plus the information is up to date on current equipment.

Heres another thread on how to search Stripperweb effectively.

Its okay to ask questions but if you get in the habit finding things for yourself it will go a lot faster and take you further.

Hi I was wondering if it's possible to cam on an HP with a quad core processor with 4gb ram, 1000tb hard drive? I'm super strapped for cash and went into a computer rental store and this seems to be all they have. I know the recommended is i7 for SM but I can't afford it just yet, has anyone cammed on one of these quad core one's with success?
Thanks

In general a quad core should be what any cammer aims for. BUT we can't really give you any real insight without knowing the make and model of the computer. If you have the exact model for the HP then we can look at the specs and properly advise you. Off the jump I would say that 4gb of ram isn't enough and per Streamate's requirements the recommended amount is 8gb. Take a look at this thread from the very beginning and study all of the recommendations previously shared to get a better idea of what you may need. It doesn't always have to be an I7 but may come down to individual parts plus the quality of your internet. Just read through the thread.

Honestly if you can build your own computer then you can get the AMD Ryzen 1800x for under $400 USD and its way way way better then the i7. I have both and the 1800x is blowing my mind, especially when you consider the cost. As for the Ram I would agree that you need about 8gb or more. If you build your own you can buy the ram at a pretty good price I think I paid about $260 USD for 16GB. This is also a good reason to at least buy a desktop, rather then a lap top because you can always add the extra ram later.

The only kicker right now is that the really good gamming grafic cards have gone way way way up iin price thanks to the bitcoin traders but you can still get a pretty decent one for a few hundred. Add on a motherboard, some sort of cooling system and a tower and you can have a bitching computer for about $1000 or less. I built myself a huge one with lots of power and fancy lights and then built myself a smaller version for camming and Amazon messed up my order and ended up giving me the motherboards and Processor for free so I actually saved 800 Euros! Also you can add the items to a wish list and have your clients help you out in building it. Lots of Youtube vids will show you exactly how to put it all together.

Right ladies it’s stupid question time again from me.

My poor laptop is on its last legs which I currently cam from. I don’t have the money for a brand new set up so I am looking to get a refurbished PC tower with an intel core i7 so I can stream more sites, run my own site better etc whilst using my laptop as a monitor. So my tech question is would this be a good set up whilst trying to save for a better set up? I am tech illiterate so I do apologise about the silliness of this question.

The link is: https://microdream.co.uk/lenovo-thinkcentre-m91p-mt-quad-core-i7-2600-8gb-1tb-wifi-windows-10-professional-64bit-desktop-pc-computer.html#.WpNB3fynw0M

Or this laptop and keep my current laptop for real basics: https://www.gigarefurb.co.uk/dell-latitude-e6420-14-refurbished-laptops-intel-core-i7-2-7ghz-4gb-ddr3-memory-320gb-hdd-windows-10-refurbished-laptops.html

DeepThoughts

Of the two go for the tower. More GB's. The laptop doesnt have enough and you cannot add on to a laptop. Also (classic Dell) They dont actually state which i7 you get so we cannot check the benchmark. The tower has an i7-2600 I check the benchmark and its just slightly better then my old i7 which gave me zero problems to cam on Streamate so you should be fine plus you can over clock it to 3.8GZ but you dont need to cause its clock speed is 3.4gz which is nice. Quadcore is fine and so is 64bit. Plus you get windows 10 pro which is great but that is pretty standard. no one uses 8 anymore. Such a headache that was.

The only thing I question is the Graphics card. Its integrated Intel graphics card and I would upgrade it to the Nvidia Geforce GT 710 1GB for an extra 40 pounds its totally worth it. Dedicate graphic cards are the way to go and the one on the computer now is too slow and too old to be reliable enough for heavy weight sites like SM. That would be the only change I would make, I know money is tight but in the long run you could just buy it as is and then upgrade to a dedicated graphics card later on but then you will have to install it yourself and it might slow you down.

Other then that I tend to lean towards towers for camming because you can upgrade most things if you need/want to later on and they are just a tad more reliable.

Last thing. Dont worry about upgrading the wifi connector as you will be plugging right into the Ethernet port. You dont want to cam on wifi if you can avoid it.

Inexpensive is relative to your budget. :) If you tell us what you'd like to spend I could help recommend a computer for you. You can send me a dm if you like.

A Lenovo 320S will get the job done but you will need to make sure it's an "S" series laptop with the "S" on the end of 320. Otherwise you can wind up with a crap pc that can barely connect to the internet. A Lenovo 320S with an i5 processor will cost around $600. With an i7 $700. But even with knowing what the processer brand is the price can still vary depending on if it has integrated graphics(basic) or dedicated graphics(gaming/camming). You can cam with an integrated graphics card but if you spend just a tiny bit more you can get...so much more.

Been looking at canada computers near me. they got some awesome i7 reburbished machines some under $500 and then some above $500. I definitely learned it's much easier to clean out a desktop from dust, hair and dirt then a laptop.

my main machine was shutting off at random. opened it up and ccarefully dusted out the damn cat hair. cats are gone over a year and the damn hair is sitll around.

I basically will good the genration of the proccess AMD or Intel. then I look for anything above 8 GIG of ram, because I know how to open up a computer and upgrade that on my own. if its just a cam only machine it doesn't need a huge harddrive.

$500 to $2,400 is a good pricing point for a computer. and also don't have a computer on payments they are not worth the value. You are better off putting away $10 at least a week for a computer. and it wouldn't hurt to take a computer repair class at a community college.

cam sites typically work best on a windows PC. my current machine was around $600 but it slow for the needs of camming but it does work just I can't multi-task with it.

AMD makes equivelant to intel core. so its a matter of figuring which AMD is matched to which intel series.

I've been runnning my Asus AMD-6 4 gig desktop for 6+ years now, and my only issue is that it had so much cat hair in it that it was over heating. I got the hair out, but now I will make sure to keep around air cans for the desktops easier to clean out then a laptop.

laptop you have to send in to be serviced to be cleaned out and also annoying to replace keys on a laptop.

When I went to that site and used specific parameters in between $600-$800 all of the options were Lenovo and then it came down to this one the Lenovo 320 with an AMD 12 processor and integrated graphics for $763. SSD - 100GB-249GB
CPU Speed - Intel 2.01ghz -3.00ghz, AMD12 2.70ghz thats the equivalent in comparison for an Intel processor speed.
No. of Processors, 4 or quad core

Unless you absolutely must use a laptop I would think about having a desktop built for your needs. You can easily have that done with even more features than all of the above for $700. BTW HP's don't all suck. They have some really nice ones coming out but they're on the pricey side.

When I went to that site and used specific parameters in between $600-$800 all of the options were Lenovo and then it came down to this one the Lenovo 320 with an AMD 12 processor and integrated graphics for $763. This is almost the exact same laptop I recently got except mine has an I7 processor and not AMD. For some reason newegg doesn't seem to offer intels for those pricepoints? Heres the laptop https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAFRV75B6680

I used the specs on the side

Screen size. 15.6
Cpu Type- I7Core, AMD Series
Condition -new
Manufacturer - Lenovo, Acer America, Asus, HP, Dell
Price $600-$800
Operating System -Windows 10
SSD - 100GB-249GB
CPU Speed - Intel 2.01ghz -3.00ghz, AMD12 2.70ghz thats the equivalent in comparison for an Intel processor speed.

Wheres the best place to have one built for that price?

I decided to splash out on a custom PC. My Super i7 laptop wasnt cutting it any more. 2 instances of Just Cam It, Skype, Spotify and Browsing the net gets it all in a tizwaz. I really want to add another 1 maybe 2 sites to my basket (one being resource hungry SM). I went down the PC route because they are easier to upgrade should I want to:

This is what I went with

Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™ i7 Six Core Processor i7-8700k (3.7GHz) 12MB Cache
Motherboard ASUS® PRIME Z370-P: ATX, LGA1151, USB 3.1, SATA 6GBs

I think you did good BB! :) 6 cores and plenty of ram, plus dedicated graphics should be able to handle multiple applications at once. I use my phone for streaming music. I just connect it to a Bluetooth speaker. I also keep skype and discord open on my phone so whenever I get a request for a show I hear the alert through the speaker. This way my computer can focus on live streaming.

I have a 3yo Toshiba Satellite P70-B-10T, but plan on changing it. It's noisy as fuck, super heavy, despite the impressive RAM and all of that, still has a delay in reaction. Maybe I'll wait for Black Friday. I haven't decided yet, but I want something in that budget ($1.3K).

Anyone looking for a new desktop for under $500? Look no more. Its the Acer Aspire Desktop, 7th Gen Intel Core i5-7400, 12GB DDR4, 2TB HDD, Windows 10 Home, TC-780-ACKI5.

The reviews look really good and Im thinking about getting it for someone. The downsides are the integrated graphics which are fine for camming but for gaming you may want to upgrade the gpu. That'll be around $150. Still under a $1000.

Can someone who is into computers advise me about what is the most important thing when looking for a laptop when you are making a lot of clips? My other laptop was a gaming one and only had it for a year and now it's in the pits. (My fault - spilt something on it- =motherboard fucked) .

I just don't know if having a i7 not an i5 is more important than having 8gb or 120gb etc.

Most of my time will be spent making, uploading and running clips.

Thanks

For clips, the difference in processor is just how long it will take you to process your clips and reformat them if needed. With the latest generation of Intel processors, there isn't a major difference in speed for singular tasks, so i5 and i7 are interchangeable. You will want a good amount of RAM (at least 12GB) to cache the clips while you edit them, and of course as much hard drive space as you can afford so you can keep your base libraries to work with. Hard drive space doesn't do anything for your computer's speed (nor does using most of it slow you down), but it does let you record massive amounts of material and keep it around until you get to editing it.
