Pat has Golden Opulence marked down to $39 plus 10% off if it's your first order. That's a deal!

https://www.patmcgrath.com/products/golden-opulence-eyeshadow-palette

My magnetic lashes showed up this weekend and effing love them! Lash glue breaks me out so bad that I stopped wearing lashes. Not anymore. ♥️

I'm being good and not buying any palettes until the divine rose 2 by pat comes out.

This velour band eyeliner/eyelash glue has been gentler on my lashes then regular glue, but I do have to touch up every few hours. Nice brand of lashes too

Divine Rose II is calling my name as well. I was curious about the first Divine Rose, but the paleness gave me pause. DVII I think will work better and provide more range for darker skin tones.

Regarding Golden Opulence at $39, it's a warm neutral palette with a colorful pop. I think it's perfect for someone who wants to test out Pat McGrath products without spending tons of money.

I'm gonna pass on DRII. I realized that I have most of those shades from her other pallets.

I just came across this website for decoding what different ingredients in your products mean.

as an avid sephora spender for years..i really cant remember ever using drugstore makeup.
i was recently watching some tati videos (she is a youtuber i like) and came across some "wet n wild" items. and OMGG
so cheap and work soooo well. so many great dupes for high end makeup . i wont be going back to sephora for ... like.. um.. ever...
the foundation looks great on cam, the highlighters are decent on cam, i also really like the $3 lipgloss and the blush, bronzer eye brow kit is an exact dupe for benefit's eyebrow set..
i dont know about you girls but i go through makeup sooo fast from camming that i hate the idea of throwing away profit on $300 sephora hauls.
you will look great and save so much $$$

I'm definitely not above drug store makeup, I don't think anyone in this thread is? I do have quite a few drug store staples I'll never give up like e.l.f, Neutrogena and some Loreal. There are very specific things I like from those lines. But with that said...I like nice things and I've learned that spending a little bit more helps my makeup stay in place. Sometimes the cheap stuff doesn't have the staying power to endure sloppy bj after sloppy bj. And many of those brands have ingredients that work against my skin. My skin use to hate me after a long shift. Also cheap make up finishes don't show up as well and that's important to some of us who create content. I use a high definition DSLR camera and I'm all about the finishes!!

BTW it looks like Pat McGrath has a new mothership palette on the way. I think we're about to get shades of blue, deep purples...and some tangerines?

I mean I am not ANTI drugstore but I have never really used it. My first lipstick was Elizabeth Arden duty free when I was 6. I do have a soft spot for wet and wild because growing up they had a lot more sparkle then anyone else. I do like Milani blushes and some nyx lip products.

Some summer friendly products I have been using. I can’t have ac in my cam room so I need to embrace the glow and use more cream products.

The new Patrick Ta blushes come with a creme and powder alone they are very subtle. Trick I learned was to layer the powder over the cream for a more intense and long lasting effect. I then use a finishing powder to lock in in to survive under the lights. I also use the creme as a lip stain. Multi use products that are good for touch ups are my jam.

The Roen 52 quad is a creme glitter formula that can be worn irl for that minimal cool girl look or can be built up for a dramatic centerpiece of a Smokey eye. It does crease but it goes with the look. I always want to play with cool tones but I am a warm olive and it is tricky to find the right tones. With this quad I have been getting heavy use out of 3/4.

Excited for the new pat love it when she goes a little further out of the box. 53243

Wet n wild photo focus loose setting powder is my new go to. It’s like $6 for a large container which is awesome and actually keeps your makeup in place during a long day on cam. While it has a different finish than laura mercier translucent setting powder, I think it has better oil control during long shifts.

oh good to know. i bought the loose high light powder but i will pick up some of the setting powder as well. my main issue is makeup sliding around during shows.
i do not look fresh after 15 minutes. i dont know how these ladies can do token shows for hours on end and look so fresh. my curly hair that i iron gets frizzy and messy within 1 hour
and my makeup falls of after 15 minutes.
setting powder is something i need.
but we have limited stock at our sally beauty in mexico. i need to try to find another store that sells it (during covid its harder to get imported items)

I had the same issues, but I fixed a part of them, I'll say what I did, maybe you are already doing some of those and some will help you:

1. I identified my type of skin. My skin is normal to oily, but because of the lights, it's oily. So I am using skincare products for oily skin. But not that type of products that are drying the skin, because it produces more sebum. Even oily skin can be dehydrated and when that happens, it gets oilier. My favourite skincare products are from Belif and Paula's Choice.
They help the foundation stick a little longer.

2. I got very oily eyelids, so, in order for my makeup to last at least 4-5 hours, I am using the Nyx HD Primer for eyes. When my eyelids are getting oily, I simply try to tap, very gently (without wiping) with a napkin, to absorb the oil and then try to reapply the eyeshadow and eyeliner, basically, correcting what smudged. Thankfully, on cam is not that visible :)))

3. Speaking of napkins, among with a powder, they are essential to a camgirl :)) Every 2-3 hours, my skin gets super oily, so I am using some napkins, to tap and absorb the oil (I am usually using rice paper, but only irl, on cam it would get too expensive to use those) and then reapply the powder and the contour. Not as heavy as in the begining, of course, just correcting here and there.

4. AIR CONDITIONED! Haha, it really helped, because of obvious reasons. Air is cooler, so you're not sweating. But the lights are still making the face shining quick. But yeah, if you can get AC in the room you're working, would be amazing, for many reasons, not only skin getting oily slower :)))

Speaking of hair, try to invest in a good quality blow dry serum. I use two serums (I alternate them because I love them both).
- CHI Silk Infusion https://www.amazon.com/CHI-Silk-Infusion-fl-oz/dp/B00103DUZS/ref=sr_1_2?crid=6TQN1F2KT5TQ&dchild=1&keywords=chi+silk+infusion&qid=1594598886&sprefix=chi+silk%2Caps%2C336&sr=8-2
- Moroccanoil Blow-dry Concentrate https://www.amazon.com/Moroccanoil-Blow-Dry-Concentrate-Smooth-Fluid/dp/B01HU3PTYQ/ref=sr_1_2?crid=3AFQI20G8E4DF&dchild=1&keywords=moroccan+oil+blow+dry+concentrate&qid=1594598907&sprefix=moroccan+oil+blo%2Caps%2C250&sr=8-2

The Chi one, is so much more concentrated than the Morrocanoil. For example, I have the big bottle from CHI, been having it for 2 years, using it 3 times a week (I have oily scalp so i was my hair every other day) and I still have like 25% left :))) I use like 1-2 pumps of CHI, while I use 2-3 pumps of Morrocanoil.

-I am using a hot air rotating brush. I apply one of the serums above on wet hair, blow dry it till it's like 85% dried and then finish with the hot air rotating brush, for a silky salon type finish

- I am also using another serum, post drying, from Matrix, that hydrates the hair ends and smells amazing and keeps them frizz free.
This one https://www.amazon.com/Matrix-Wonders-Indian-Strengthening-Fragile/dp/B00MCV2IPA?ref_=ast_sto_dp

- I am using an anti frizz hair brush. This one from TangleTeezer. Been having this for 5 years, because I can clean it so easy (I use an old toothbrush and shampoo and clean it everytime I am washing my hair, to not transfer the oils and hair products on the fresh washed hair). My hair didn't get frizzy ever since and it doesn't hurt when I am brushing my wet hair. I super reccomend it: https://www.amazon.com/Tangle-Teezer-Original-Detangling-Hairbrush/dp/B07X13Q45K/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2PPPBXI6PT1X3&dchild=1&keywords=tangle+teezer&qid=1594599264&s=beauty&sprefix=tangle+t%2Cbeauty%2C265&sr=1-2

I hope those tips helped a little!

I second the chi but be really careful purchasing it from amazon. Last two times i have ordered it there, i've had to send it back because i got knock offs that didn't work & made my hair dye start bleeding out. i'd never had that issue before and when i bought it from a brick and mortar store after the ordeal it didn't happen... so either they were knock offs or chi changed their formula and the stores hadn't got the new ones yet (think it's the former). BUT the legit stuff works like a DREAM!

Not exactly makeup, but dry shampoo is super important if you have oily hair and can't wash it a ton (I have dry curly hair and a super oily scalp). My two favorites don't add much volume (straighten my hair so i don't WANT it fluffier lol) and just attack the oiliness instead (found them to be less drying as well, so my hair doesn't feel like crap when washed). Fructis Invisible Dry Shampoo in scent "Mint Mojito" is amazing and inexpensive. completely disappears once massaged in on my jet black hair which is a huge plus and leaves no crunchy residue. it also has a citrusy smell with a hint of mint which is very pleasing. My other favorite is OGX Kandee Pop Glam Mermaid Dust Dry Shampoo (don't worry, it doesn't have sparkles haha). Of all the dry shampoos i've ever tried, it is by far my favorite for when my hair is really freaking oily but need another day out of it due to time. It absolutely destroys oiliness and doesn't leave your hair with visible residue or, for lack of a better term, crunchy. The smell is kind of immature compared to what i usually go for (probably best for a teenage girl), but so far as oil absorption without residue, i haven't found anything that compares when i need to be online asap or run to the super market.

I am not buying from Amazon, since they don't deliver to my country, I have put the links just to show what exactly I am using. But you are right about knock offs, they do that here too, I never thought they'd dare to do that in US :O
I love dry shampoo, but I must be careful with it, because I have seboreic dermatitis and I have to take breaks from using it, from time to time. My favourite is Batiste and they recently introduced one called XXL Volume, that I absolutely LOVE!!! Comparing to other Batiste shampoos, it keeps my hair dry for 2-3 days straight!!!! I believe it also has some hairspray in it. because my roots become stiff af, like I used a ton of hairspray, I even tangle my fingers in it ;D thankfully, that Tangle teezer brush goes trough it like it's nothing, lol. The big disatvantage in my case, is that it causes me a lot of dandruff, if I am using it for too long. And it's temping, because I can wash my hair every 4 days when I use it 8)
Unfortunately, the ones you're mentioning, are not available here. I noticed that Nivea has also a line of dry shampoo and I am gonna try it when my Batiste stock is out (I buy it in bulk from a local store and I get a discount because of that).

Here’s a really great tutorial on techniques that intended for a passport photo can totally be applied to cam. I liked that she focused on a center POV for the shaping of the face. I know that when I really want to lock in a client having face/eyes dead center really seals the deal. Also if you are doing a full face cakey is good! I am honestly not a fan of any of the products she uses but the application for a “natural glam” that works for cam is really good.

Im a little late to this party... BUT...

If you use makeup specific to theater/tv, it actually becomes a legitimate business expense. You cant use every day drug store or even department store brands as an expense. MAC may be the only exception. This way, any investment in makeup will be a good one!

If anyone can recommend a few brands, it would be great.

I hate wearing makeup, but find curling my eyelashes, and using mineral makeup works wonders. I also use self tanner to contour my face. It lasts a week or two. I contour my nose, use a bit on my forehead, chin and right under my cheek bones.

holy shit i just used hair dye on my eyebrows and they look amazing! I just traced the shape i wanted with a sharp eye pencil, mixed up a little dark brown dye, layered it on with an angled brush and then wiped off after 5 mins. Absolutely perfect with sharp lines and natural looking colour. All these years I've been spending £30 a time on HD brows and never ever came out happy. Wow.

I have really oily skin and started doing two new things which have helped my makeup stay in place WAY better for long periods of time:
-SmashBox oil and shine control primer is the BOMB! It is really pricey, but have yet to try anything that works even half as well. Like omg, I had forgotten what non oily skin (but not dry) skin felt like until I tested it out recently. 100% recommend if you struggle with your makeup melting off. It's going on sale for 50% off on Ulta's site the 16th of this month so definitely stock up!
-Secondly, setting primer with Urban Decay Deslick spray. I wish I'd started doing this years ago. makes touching up so much less frequent it's amazing! It even works on cheaper matte primers fairly well and my makeup doesn't move nearly as badly as it has in the past.

On a related note: Ulta is doing their 21 days of beauty and have some killer deals on both skincare and makeup! A few of the deals are online only, so keep an eye on the site.
Here's a link of the calendar with all of the products that will be going on sale for anyone interested: https://www.ulta.com/21days/

Pat McGrath dropped the price on her Holiday Palette to just $78!!!! It has 15 shades...15. I think this would be a perfect purchase for someone who hasn't tried her stuff yet. Her Mothership palettes usually go for $125 and you get 10 shades. Order it from Sephora because they are waay faster than on her site. Here's a review and demo looks:

Great pick just wanted to point out that the pan sizes are way smaller then her motherships, but for these type of shades that should be just fine, also 2/3 are repeats but once again great to pick up. I’m 50/50 on buying it, and like you I am no longer ordering from her site due to always being late.

Anyone else here a boxycharm member? I got my first box recently and LOVED it. You get 5 full size items per month of pretty decent quality makeup. Got a palette that shows up so so well on cam, along with a few other products which I like (skin care, lip liners, good quality brushes, amazing concealer). Figured it was a bit cheaper than what I spend per month at ulta or sephora on some products. Like the concealer well enough that I actually put down my shape tape (finally).

I took advantage of Pat's $12 lipsticks. I tried to get as many mattetrance colors as I could but my last order was missing the Deep Void shade. It took forever too. I was pissed. But someone from her team promises to honor the sale when it comes back in stock.

Ive been wanting to give Lisa Eldridge a try but I'm gonna wait for a sale. Right now Juvias Place is killing the lipstick game. I love the formula and the shades. Here is the new reds & berries line.

I was all ready to sell my house for some Marc Jacobs eyeliner...but they're all sold out. :(

At Ulta right now, urban decay's lipsticks are half off! Also Ulta usually runs a huge sale for national lipstick day at the end of July, so keep an eye out for that (it's a great time to stock up).

I have a few new finds & favorites!
1. Completely ditched my other primers for Touch in Sol Pretty Filter Icy Sherbet Primer (https://www.ulta.com/p/pretty-filter-icy-sherbet-primer-pimprod2021345). Received it originally in a boxycharm and it has really wowed me. It's very light and keeps your makeup perfectly in place for long hours even on the oiliest of skin. This primer also does not have a silicone base, but somehow still provides a light blurring effect & leaved your skin very soft. It is lightly scented (kind of soft & rosy) but fades fast. I went through an entire container and loved it so much that I've purchased more. On top of it all, it's $20 (or less if you buy direct from the brand site, as they often have sales) and I've found that a jar lasts well over 6 weeks with liberal daily use. Highly recommend for combo or oily skin.
2. This brow definer pencil (https://www.realher.com/products/definer-brow-pencil) by Realher Cosmetics is an underrated gem! Of all the brow pencils I've tried, this one has been the easiest to use & control. The formula lasts all day (doesn't melt off or get shiny even after 12+ hours of wear) & glides on like a dream! So far as the pencil itself, the tip is a bit thinner than the ABH brow wiz and formula is slight softer, but I've had no issues with it breaking. I ordered a couple directly from the site and had my package within 3 days. As an added bonus, Realher is a cruelty free & paraben free brand! The product retails for $16 (brow wiz is $23 for reference). The only downside is that it comes in 3 shades currently.
3. Lastly, Dose Of Colors (another cruelty free brand) has a marvelous Meet Your Hue Concealer (https://doseofcolors.com/collections/concealer-makeup-meet-your-hue). It comes in 30 shades, a multitude of undertones, isn't drying, doesn't crease easily, blends like a dream, doesn't oxidize, & makes dark circles it's bitch! It retails for $24, but they usually have decent first time customer coupons and run 50% off sales roughly quarterly. I've been using it on my under eyes for over 6 months and have yet to find something better.
