View Full Version : Women in Tech - Why aren't there more in the porn industry behind the scenes?

Look at IWantEmpire & how fast it has risen. One of the reasons could be attributed to the fact that one of it's key people is a performer. Since in Silicon Valley the good ol' boys club has created a work place hostile to females. Women are not advanced into key positions. Female entrepreneurs who try to raise funds for start ups are hit on and propositioned rather than funded.

Shouldn't we be asking the companies we work for & those who come here how many women do they have behind the scenes in management positions? Is one of the partners a cam performer?

Porn companies are TECH companies. If we want better treatment, to be heard, to be represented, shouldn't we start insisting that these companies put more performers into key positions & not just the face of the brand.

To take top girls & offer them good positions, pay & benefits in each of these companies to help them & us all make more money. They will more so with males but NOT the females. I know that vuier did it with a male cammer & Cam4 did it with a former male cammer & one female cammer.

When new companies come on here to recruit us, it is clear no one who has made money in front of a cam or making clips is in a high position. Instead, we freely give them advice & market research without getting paid for the consulting. Since most don't listen, many have failed. They did NOT value our opinions when counter to their own. They get angry when we ask questions that is outside their sales pitch.

Recently experienced this on cam with Panty bay, which that vid is no longer available on youtube. He got mad when asked questions. He got flustered and kept talking over the questions with the sales pitch. Completely pretending nothing was asked. Kept repeating the sales pitch, instead of answering questions. Which is an action I see repeated over the years on this site. Usually by studios pretending to be a new cam company.

I plan on asking any new endeavors how many females work there, what positions & if they ever have been in front of the camera. These companies have a huge multi-talented pool of performers to choose from other than just a spokes person. Since the competition is growing strong among these companies, it they wanted a leg up, it only makes sense. Sadly, most are not. They do not put any research into who are the top girls at any of them really. They don't put research into who is being innovative on their own platforms or others.

Really does make me angry, here they have performers with tons of experience of being a success on their platforms but none are moved up into these companies and into a really good paying position for the most part. WHY NOT?

It is discrimination. Already with the stigma of sex work majority of jobs outside the sex industry are not going to happen. Clearly, it is the same within the industry too. When are we going to hold these companies accountable in discriminating against the performers too. They can easily send out memos for job positions within each company and have those who are interested apply. Vetted the same with testing & interviews to see if they are qualified like they do everyone else.

The camsites will never put performers in top positions because they are fucking elitist pieces of shit. To them, we are the chickens and cows, the eggs and milk we produce makes them money and therefore, we cannot be seen as leaders. It would be the same as a farmer hiring a cow to operate a tractor and harvest corn in their eyes.

I'm launching a new lifestyle sexy brand that I want exclusively females in charge of. From the talent selection to the technology to the design side it should not be run by 40 something white guy. It needs the energy and power of the models in order to make it work.

Ok, great..
We've been told this all before, but have yet to see it actually in operation.
Just saying.

They may be forced to change when we all begin to favor female-owned site like iwantclips. My sales there have quickly outpaced sales on clips4sale and I never ever thought I'd see that happen.

I want Empire is a game changer, but the woman felt that she had to hide such information to be a success in the adult industry. Which says a lot doesn't it.

I posted 2 days ago on twitter asking MV if there were any women in management or employed there. Several girls answered me that they are women that work there, but MV has NOT. When I asked if they had seen or spoken to those women on the phone or such, I got crap for it. I do NOT trust any of these companies to set up fake accounts & emails with female sounding names to fool us.

How progressive can MV be in against discrimination against sew workers if they don't have any employed in the offices? One of the problems, despite all the skills we learn to be a success in today's market is that companies outside the industry won't hire us OR see us more than just what we do on camera. Porn-cam-vod sites don't either........ they just are giving it lip service. And if they do it is a male, not a female to go behind the scenes and work in any position much less management.

For true change, for equality, for us to be seen as more, IT IS TIME THAT THE COMPANIES THAT PROFIT OFF OF US HIRE US TO BE MORE!

Nood.tv is another site that is completely coded, founded, funded, like just every thing you can think of...by cam model chloe lewis. She's a coder and cam model. And the only other employee is the community manager who is a cam model named alice elizabeth. So that is pretty cool. I hope to see more stuff like this popping up.
