Has anyone setup a new year's weight loss challenge? To support everyone starting new exercise and diet programs. How could something like that be structured?
I am!! Since I haven’t worked out (lazy laps in a pool) in over a year nor gone on an actual diet in 6 years. I have decided to do this very slowly, I dont want to shock my body lol.
My plan is to loose 250 pounds in atleast 6 years: These are the steps I will take.
- I have made a goal to loose 4 pounds every month for the next 62 months.
- They builded a gym right NEXT door to my apartment and it’s $10 cheaper than my current membership (which I have not been using) at La fitness which is a 10 minute drive away. I plan on switching membership saving money and gas.
- I brought new workout clothes.
- I plan on tracking my calories and eating 2000 calories a day.
- Regularly going to my docotr to keep my pcos under check.

My husband recently pointed out that people rarely follow through with things of they do them gradually. I took this to heart after thinking about it a lot. For weight loss as well as many of the other benefits, I fasted for 5 days (well actually I was 6 hours short, but close enough). It was an enlightening experience. Yeah it helped me lose weight, but it also helped me better understand my personal relationship with food. During the fast even though I was no longer hungry at all after a few days I was still wanting food. If it wasn't for the sake of hunger, then there was something mental going on. I discovered that watching ASMR eating videos on YouTube and imaging the taste and texture was very satisfying. If also made me realize that if I go out to a buffet for example, I can enjoy a little of what I'm interested in experiencing instead of stuffing my face. Either way is a short term experience. I'm better off savoring a few bites so I can recall the memory than eating more, so I experience it maybe a minute longer. I have a completely different outlook now that is causing me to eat less and lose quickly. Now I need to restructure how I look at exercise and I'll be golden by valentines day.

You're going to do great. Please keep us updated on your progress.
You may need to modify your plan over time as you lose weight and have more energy or reach a plateau. It sounds like your plan is more of a overall long term lifestyle change in the way you eat and not just a short term diet and that's a good thing.

Does anyone have a Peloton, is it worth it? You have a $2,000 initial investment for the equipment then $39 a month for the subscription. My diet has been slipping for months, but I've been exercising regularly, but not near as hard as I was and I've been slowly gaining weight. I've mostly been walking and running and doing loosely structured calisthenics.
If someone has a good home exercise program they're using please consider sharing.
I've found the best exercise for losing weight is jumping rope. I would take a $10 jump rope over a $2,000 Peloton. Also, burpees are a great workout.

Now that you brought that up- some people have to avoid movements that put pressure on knees if they have messed up knees. I would love to jump rope but the sheer idea of the crunching noises coming from my knees makes me stop picturing that.
On topic the cycling machine at the gym is a great way to work out legs without putting jarring pressure on knees and ankles.

I've had knee problems from running, which is why I switched to jumping rope. Jumping rope puts less stress on the knees because you land on two feet instead of one, so there is less pressure on each foot. I used rubber mats for jumping rope to minimize impact. Something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BPQDNR4/ref=sspa_dk_detail_0?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B01BPQDNR4&pd_rd_w=igEP7&pf_rd_p=f0dedbe2-13c8-4136-a746-4398ed93cf0f&pd_rd_wg=tVYUc&pf_rd_r=ABP0AJJ0330PJAFGDHSS&pd_rd_r=609668a9-1397-11e9-99bb-699e5a48ea1d
The main problem I had with jumping rope is I had a shoulder injury before, so it started to flare up again. As far as burning calories and losing weight, I've found jumping rope to work the best. I lost 25 lbs. doing it, before I had to stop because of my shoulder.

I am simply consistent with my workouts and that's it, for 2019. During 2018 I understood that is normal to take 1-2 weeks off, it's ok if I skip here and there, it's okay to be lazy. The point is to get back from where I left and move on. Just look forward.
I am so relaxed now, that I managed to workout way more from the half of 2018, than all the years when I was promising myself that I will be super disciplined.
One more thing: I don't focus on weight loss or toning anymore. They don't come easy and I don't look forward for the results anymore. My body started to change, just because I have been consistent, with little falling off the wagon (it happens). Thing is to not give up. It's ok if this week you workout for 5 days in a row and next week only one day. It's absolutely fine. The body will still change, by months.
I am not looking what I am gonna do from tomorow, I am looking what I am doing today. Today I am trying my best to add a salad to a meal, today I am doing my best to drink more water, I am doing my best to eat a fruit, doing my best to not eat that piece of choco cake. Sometimes I fail, sometimes I make it.
I made changes by taking baby steps. And I will keep taking baby steps, untill I change completely.

I starting using elliptical machines following knee surgery. Those things are a pain in the ass unless you spend thousands for a gym quality machine. It's fantastic when it's working, but it's malfunctioning more often than not.
I'm not looking forward to yet another visit from the super-creepy repair guy. Seriously, I'm going to check out jump ropes.

If you had a knee injury, it's probably a good idea to get rubber mats similar to the ones I linked to in my previous post. Make sure you keep your knees slightly bent.

If you have straight up PCOS you should do medication or have cysts removed surgically. Ovarian cysts can make weight loss pretty much impossible.

Been slowly but surely adopting this as well. I highly recommend this book KETOTARIAN by Will Cole, comes with really great information and some recipes as to how to healthily make the body go into ketosis, cause I’ve seen some pretty questionable methods going around
I've been doing this weightlifting routine since the beginning of the year, and my ass is getting so big. I feel so strong. I love it. I don't weigh myself, as weight fluctuates daily and isn't a good measure of fitness or health or slimness anyway. But I look so much more toned and shapely and I FEEL so much stronger and more energetic.

Tracking my food was really eye opening for me. I've lost 15 pounds since I've started exercising each day (20 minutes minimum...baby steps) and tracking my food. I'm a bored eater so tracking kind of helped me stop doing that. I've been using the Lose It app and it lets you set a weight loss goal and then gives you a calorie budget. It's helped me be more conscious of what I eat and in turn has me eating much healthier.

Don't know if you got it, but it's worth it. Indoor cycle is one of the most effective & safest forms of exercise.
I'm a STAR II Advanced SPINNING Instructor with 6.5 years experience riding & 5.5 yrs experience teaching.
I've maintained an 80 lbs weight loss for 5 years by indoor cycling 5 hrs a week.
Diet, hydration, & rest must be right too. But the bike will pay off fast.

I ditched all the fad diets this year and I'm only going with what works for me: Unprocessed, lean and healthy foods. Meals that consist of a veggie + protein + healthy, unprocessed carb makes my body happy.
I think one of the biggest problems in this day and age is all the food processing and extra gunk that gets pumped into our foods. If I'm at the supermarket and can't read the ingredient list, then I put it back on the shelf. There's really no reason why we should consume preservatives and/or foods with coloring in them . . .
Im going back to smoothies and granola for breakfast. In the morning i dont have much of an appetite but you have to jumpstart your metabolism with something
Lunch sandwich, salad, fruit
And dinner is whatever my mom cooks...usually lasagna...with a salad and fruit

Hey guys! There’s a great app called fit bod. I paid $60 for a year, but I love it! I canceled my personal trainer. She was charging me $150 month- which is fine But I like to learn everything for myself. I’ll use her if I need to prep, but I like to learn on my own. Bodybuilding.com also is awesome, but I hate how you can’t customize your workouts. They’ve had the same workouts for years and they want to charge money for a subscription. Psst. I paid for a month but so glad I didn’t do the yearly subscription it would have been a waste of money. Since I paid for it I’m gonna go ahead and take their classes for fun.
I’m so excited! Quest makes pizza! I had a quest cookie and pizza today! I had a whole pizza. Amazing!

Reduction of sugar in the diet does wonders. I shed 10 pounds pretty rapidly just by omitting table sugar.

Sunday Evening, before work, I did a home workout video:

After work, I went out in the park, at 6 AM and took about 5,5k steps, from 10k daily goal.
The stats below are shown in different days, but for me is same day because it's before and after work, like 8 hours apart or so :))))

I have a photo shoot coming up in 2 weeks, over the past year I have put on 40 lbs from a terrible incident where my dungeon (I am a Domme) was set ablaze and I lost 30000 in gear clothes and equipment. Ugh. But anywho I know I cant ditch all the weight but I was wondering if any of you ladies had a quick crash diet to use in this type of instance. I cut out booze and most bread and started working out daily, and I know after the shoot I will just have to stick to eating better, but I am in need of a quick tune up for the pics.

OK this is almost unbelievable good news- I'm steadily losing weight after weeks of trying. Due to health reasons I can't max out workouts like I did when I was in my early 20s. So I have small workouts through the week and have cut meal portions.
A few random things added up that have helped-
* drink green tea or coffee on the regular- if you can do this, it helps with shedding weight
* take the stairs, work extra exertion into your day. Even if you go pick up trash on a sunny day or do a deep clean of the bathroom, the extra activity burns calories.
* if you are retaining fluid- get massages and drink dieuretics (watermelon and coffee can also have a dieuretic effect.)
* Cinnamon, herbal teas and stevia can be used to combat your sweet tooth. Honestly sugar is so bad for your health in so many ways. When you eliminate it for weight loss you will notice a rapid change. The human body was not built to process the amount of sugar we have in today's modern "ready to eat" food products.

Other important tip- make sure you replace the sodium you sweat out. Your body needs a certain amount of salt to be healthy.
Other interesting things to consider- a LOT of fitness types have admitted that popular protein bars are not that different from candy bars or cookies you might make in your kitchen.
It's cheaper to make your own protein bars at home (buying pre-made is convenient but gets expensive.)
The last time I had to start a "fitness ball" rolling to lose many pounds of illness caused weight, I lived off of Clif bars for a long time. It did work.

Today I started the "guns, buns and legs" challenge. I also did 100 sit ups with Tony Horton's ab workout, and a walking/toning workout with Lucy Wyndham Read (lasted in total for everything 45 minutes). Later tonight I'll do either country line dancing or a dance workout that focuses on legs and stomach-the two areas I need to target the most. It's reallllly hot today and I don't want to put on shorts because my legs aren't where I want them yet....

In 15 days I've lost 6 lbs by eating clean, keeping calories below 1500, training aerobic on an indoor bike 20-30 min 4 days a week, and doing 20 min of yoga a day. Oh, I drink about 100 oz water a day when training on the bike or just 80 oz when yoga is the only thing I do.
Dayum, feelin myself. Just 3 more lbs.

Workout update-
I haven't been hitting the gym due to chronic illness flareups.
BUTTTTT yesterday I took a long walk (it was 4 miles round trip) and I lost a bunch of water weight & it got my digestive system going, which is a big plus (when you're sedentary, your digestion can get backed up, which is a no-no for your overall health.)
It was painless! I've been so focused on "feeling the burn" in the gym that I forgot the joy of a long walk that can be an even better workout than bouncing on the Elliptical.
I'm fasting today to get the most out of my digestive "cleanse."

I am currently at a bmi of 28. Terrible, I know. I'm two dress sizes and at least 40 lbs from where I need to get back to. Thank goodness for my height.
My short term goal is to lose 25 lbs by Valentine's Day. I'm cutting sugar and going to start back eating a big salad a day + taking my vitamins/supplements. For exercise, I'm going to do 1-2 workouts from Youtube per day. Popsugar has really good, no-weights workouts.

I have a ton of workout dvd's, Slim in 6 series, a box set of Pilates, yoga and something else I forget now. I get bored super fast doing the same routine every day, so I try to mix it up.
Theres also an awesome program called Blogates, its pilates and she has a ton of videos on YouTube.. she makes something so hard feel less painful, and not annoying at all which is something I have a problem with. I find most all fitness instructors super annoying, so that I really like her says a lot :)

Oh yes, my favourites are Fitnessblender, I discovered them on youtube and then I realised they have a site, where you can make an account and add the workouts in a calendar there. IT's soo nice, that you can keep a track.
Then, there are the Beachbody programs, that now can be accessed online, for $100/ year (or you can pay per month/ bi-annual) you find aaaaall the workout programs, including calendars and... the most important, the eating plans. There are TONS. I don't like that they don't have an online calendar, just as Fitnessblender, you have to print the calendars and the tracking sheets.
I sometimes like PopSugarFitness, also on youtube.
I also like Blogilates, but I visit them once in a blue moon because I hate pilates and yoga stuff :))) I am into strenght/ hiit/ cardio, etc.
But yeah, my big favourite remains Fitnessblender.
