That's what I was thinking. If they can separate the professionals from the low life pimps and underground rings they'd have more of a target to go after. The problem is, a lot of these underground rings directly link to high profiled pedophiles and those making money off of them and supplying the girls/boys. They're not trying to go to prison and are probably blackmailing as well to keep things underground.
A huge thing I believe is the certification itself and how it may socially effect SW. Not everyone wants to be known as a SW just because they are one. They want to make their money safely and quietly and most likely worry what certification may have on future employment and family circles. It's that stigma.
Yep, back in the 1990s there was an awesome British news reporter and host of Crime Watch UK for a few seasons by the name of Jill Dando that was murdered in cold blood right outside of her front door in the middle of the day. Nobody was ever caught.
It was said she was investigating an underground pedophile ring that had members of high ranking police and government officials.

I have to wonder what the real motivation behind it all is. Remember in the book handmaid's tale where the elite have courtesans but nobody else can? Believe me that exists, but why such a push in the US? Everyone knows that "trafficking" is bullshit in the case of a professional sex worker - why this demonization now?
Now that you mention that point, it's very scary. I'm kind of waiting to see if anything will happen to legal brothels in Nevada now.

The brothels in Nevada will be just fine as they're for the rich and well-heeled men (some of those brothels have helipads and airport landing strips).
I also second Bahubas statement that they only want legal sex work available only to the rich and elite.

This, exactly. You know that all of these male politicians pushing/backing this agenda know damn well that the sites/places/avenues that are being targeted and shut down are not full of sex-traffickers - that they are only hurting the consensual independent sex workers that they have probably booked and seen dozens of times. They're not making the country any safer for those who are truly sex-trafficked through underground rings (not craigslist and TER...) and far less safe for the providers that they will continue to buy services from - except now they have an upper-hand in harassing and "negotiating" because we'll have no means to regulate our little corner of the web at all.

I got curious to see, and saw that there's the job section companies are using but being super vague. Kinda obvious still.

^^ Yes, exactly! Most of these sex trafficking rings are underground and often have only the powerful, wealthy clientele. Look at that movie Taken where young girl's were auctioned off to the highest bidders. These are no average blue collar Joe. They are wealthy CEO's, politicians, government officials, lawyers, doctors, etc. If they want to go after someone they need to go after those types that are engaging in the purchasing of underage and trafficked. They'd rather focus on going after the low hanging fruit, like consensual, legal aged indy escorts and agencies of legal aged, consensual workers instead of the real bad guys like the traffickers and the elite buyers of the trafficked people. Why? Because money talks and shit walks and they're willing to turn a blind eye to their wealthy peers who are doing corrupt things. Yes, I do agree that they're trying to make it so that only the rich can see sex workers. This is the men in positions of power's way of trying to take back control. The backward way that things are going lately, makes me think that they're trying to make it so that women are once again like the subservient 1950's housewife, whose only job is to bear and raise kids, not be allowed to think or make any decisions for herself, has no rights to do anything for herself, and be totally helpless and controlled by her husband.

the really ugly thing is the right wing didn't craft this, it's also a project of "progressive" politicians and celebrities
this is the least helpful help i can possibly think of.
can sex workers get a class action restraining order on amy schumer?

I have a small amount of power and I know a lot of these guys at the lower levels - they're either hiding it pretty well or the perpetrators are at a very high level I don't have access to. I do know from personal experience the UN is pushing this heavily, perhaps that's it. The funny thing is they're pushing it for Albania and Nigeria and Taiwan, but the US goes ahead and implements it in the most brutal, unthinking, misguided manner.
