hi! im looking to upgrade my webcam (ordered the elgato facecam but hated it)... i am debating the brio, but i kinda want a remote for the ease of close ups... does anyone still use the BCC950? i know thats *super* old school but, i remember that being the 'high end' option that mainstream cam sites recommended. and i always remember the quality being excellent back then but there are very few reviews of it on youtube these days...

anyone still recommend that webcam orrr should i sack the remote off and go brio? #decisions... xxxx

Depends how much you want to spend. If you're willing to drop a bit more $ and ok with learning a new piece of tech, you could always go with a dslr compatible cam that has a remote and stream that way. You will end up with much better picture quality than with the bcc950 and have something awesome to shoot content with. If you're not going to go that route, I'd go with a brio. Best bang for your buck so far as upgrades go at this point & it's easy to set up. Just depends what you're after!

I use the Brio and my keyboard to manually turn/zoom the cam. I still miss the remote of my BCC so badly but the quality is much better. I have experimented with remote tripods and haven’t found the right one yet but this could be an option

Ok y’all I really need some advice. Normally I don’t have internet issues (hardly ever) but yesterday my internet upload speed took a shit and I was unable to work last night because of it. After getting a signal from the net company today it appears to be back to normal but im so nervous of losing it again and not being able to work (esp on a holiday weekend who knows when I could get an agent to come out). Does anyone have any back up options they use for internet when needed? Im not very technically advanced but some kind of hot spot I can use to at least work in a pinch. Im pretty desperate!!

your smartphone should have one. just make sure your cell plan allows you to do so without charging stupid amounts for data/hotspot use!

Just get a Brio. They work incredibly well.

Got the Brio and didn't like it. Couldnt get it to stream clearly in 4k, background is all staticky looking, how do you get it to stream clearly? Cause I tried googling the issue and it seems like other people have had the same problem and you can adjust the settings but it doesnt fully fix the issue. :O

I did buy hookups to run my digital camera as a webcam though, its an outdated 4k digital camera at this point and its finicky to run as a webcam but streams much more clearly than the brio but its a hastle but I guess thats what I will use until I find a better option.

I didn't have any luck with the Brio either. It looked okay close up but like you said, the background got all staticky when farther away. I could not use any back light. Even string lights washed it out.

I have a Brio which I love. Have previously been splitcamming without any software but I understand that's asking a lot from the cam & pc.

I used to use verysoft with no problem for 4 sites (2 with freechat and 2 without) but i'm trying the same thing and getting lagging which makes the audio out of sync. it's maybe 1 second but it's enough that i can see something is wrong.

Does anyone use verysoft for 4 sites with good results and can you please help me work out what I'm obs doing wrong with the settings.

In other news, my bf has just ordered me a 32" 200hz curved screen - happy birthday me :-)

I do use it for 4-5 sites and I have good results.
My resolution is set on 1280x 720 and these are my settings

I don't know what could possibly be wrong with the splitter, since it's pretty basic in settings, i mean, idk what you could ruin. Are you sure it's not the internet?
Unfortunately, we are tied to verysoft, it's the only one that doesn't consume so many resources. I wanted to try YouCam since it has skin smoothing filter, but it eats a lot of resources. Definitely not for 4 sites. Maybe two, tops...

Aaand happy birthday!!! a 32" monitor sounds amazing! I wanted to replace my current 27" monitor with a 32" one, then i decided i better get one more 27" :))))
Now I wanna get a 55" tv, because i will start streaming from a couch and i need SCREEEN!!

would i be able to use youcam (for the beautify filter).. then hook up verysoft to stream from the youcam feed.... then chosing verysoft to stream to stripchat, SM and CB work do you think? or would it still slow things down? i have a powerful alien laptop but still.... really love youcam but have never tried to multstream with it, i only use it for one site at a time. but i just wondered if there was a way round it? x

Have any of you upgraded to Windows 11?

No and won't do it untill there will be a year or so :))) I don't wanna be the first one who deals with all the glitches from the begining :)))) The support for windows 10 is ending in 2025, so I am not rushing yet. But I am also curious about this, if someone else had more courage, maybe I am wrong.

Has anyone tried out the Sony Xperia?

I was thinking of trying out but wanted to see what you girls thought in terms of going this route over a mirrorless?

I like the idea of being able to not carry around a full tripod when traveling and just having a little bitty ringlight.

Thoughts?

Those have older processors. I7-4800's came out 8 years ago, I believe? That doesn't mean it can't handle SM, but that's pretty much all you'll be able to do while streaming. Plus it only has 8gb of ram and that could slow you down.

I second @Phat. These are slow and real old. I know you don't want to spend so much, but it's your money making machine and it's gonna bring you the money back in no time. It's once in a few years investment, so you better get a newer system. I suggest you to increase your budget and get an i7 10th gen with 16 GB of RAM, at least :D:D:D.

I don’t know anything about laptops or computers and kinda knew it would be a no from you guys with tech experience and probably end up using it for sm bc it is new. I’d rather spend more and have it last

I know to look for quad cores and that’s about it :)

For the record I always try to go low and end up going high. I try to be cheap

I am not techy at all, I bought a all in one desktop that I love back in 2017 not realizing I cant upgrade shit bc its all IN ONE lmao

I need a laptop to do this...
Run a site, not sm but maybe nude chat on cams and do all my uploads throughout the day
I wonder if I can do that on a ipad pro from 2017 (256 gb/77 used storage)

can i run obs on a ipad? maybe? prolly not

Haha, nothing wrong with being a cheapstake, but don't be a cheapstake with things that are bringing your money/ health. Never be a cheapstake with what you put in your body and when buying work tools.

I don't know what to reccomend you, since I am not from US and I am not familiar with sites that sell refurbished stuff that might fit your needs. Also because I am the one that spent $2000 on a new PC in January 2019 and now my CPU stays in 65% and I think it got old, so I am gonna spend $3000 on a brand new beast that will sprint trough 6 cam sites without sweating :))))) I am THAT one hahahahaha :)))

But what I know, is that you need a laptop with an I7 10th generation and 16 GB of RAM at least, not an Ipad from 5 years ago :)) You might have to take out at least $1000 from your pocket. I know it hurts your eyes to read this but... it is what it is :)))
PS: I looked on Amazon and this is an example of what you might need https://www.amazon.com/HP-i7-1165G7-Thunderbolt-Speakers-Warehouse/dp/B09JJ3GLQS/ref=sr_1_31_sspa?qid=1638934162&refinements=p_n_feature_twenty-two_browse-bin%3A23447271011%2Cp_n_feature_four_browse-bin%3A2289792011&rnid=676578011&s=pc&sr=1-31-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFFU1dJSkVKOFRISzUmZ W5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA3MjkwNzUyWDBUNFVaMjlXRkJIJmVuY3J 5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA1Mjc5MzAzUEtRVVYwSlFNS1ExJndpZGdld E5hbWU9c3BfYnRmX2Jyb3dzZSZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmV jdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

A newer i5 processor will be able to handle SM just fine. Look for at least a 9th generation processor with dedicated graphics. Those are still under $1000. A couple of years ago I would have suggested an i7 or above but now even the i5's are kicking ass these days.

From 1 cheapskate to another - don't cheap out on your work things. I doubled my money by upgrading everything. Why hold yourself back? Do you want to stream in 4k in the future? Get the best you can afford and it will pay for itself. We can have perfect everything but if our stream quality sucks/is blurry and the guys can't see us it won't matter.

I put the laptop on my wish list for Christmas and watch the prices while checking other websites

I was thinking maybe I might want to get another desktop and just the bigger desk. desktops do last longer than laptops. This one has lasted 5 years And I think it’s because I’m not moving it everywhere and dropping it

That's what I did and I don't regret it at all. I only regret that I didn't make the change sooner. I got an external microphone too and my stream quality is so much better and the guys do notice. I think a big problem I had before was that half of them literally could not hear me and my stream was poor quality. If it's an option for you I would seriously weigh the pros and cons. A desktop may even save you money long term, you may not need to replace it for 5- 10 years but some cheapo laptop you will. I can edit and render content faster now because of my desktop. It depends how tight your budget is of course

Ohhh, definitely get a Desktop PC. Better specs, cheaper than a laptop with same specs.
I got mine in 2013, then changed it in 2019.
I wanted to change with a newer processor and everything, but I realized I don't actually need that because I won't stream on so many sites forever.
I still didn't get my 55" TV for camming and my Logitech Rally camera. I feel pretty good sitting at the desk, so I am not rushing. But I wanna get the Rally camera soon, because I got tired moving the camera with my hand.

Do you know if the built in mic is decent on the rally? I have a MacBook Pro, and the built in camera/mic are fucking fantastic. I’d like to move the camera remotely, though. I have the bcc 950 and a separate mic that is good, but a combination good mic/cam is what I’m looking for.

Rally doesn't even have a built in mic hahaha!!! Unless you wanna buy the Rally Plus version, which is double the price, just to have a mic. It's a big rip off, considering the camera is expensive anyway.
A separate mic will always be the best option tbh, especially with a remote controlled camera. You wanna have the mic closer to you, to not need to yell across the room haha. I got myself a Blue Yeti Nano, at the reccomendations here and it's an amazing mic! And cheap!

+10 for the Logitech Brio! I briefly upgraded to the razer kiyo (also great) but fell in love with the brio so went back to logitech.
My other two recommendations are the elgato key light and blue yeti mic. I always upgrade my gear when new stuff comes out but these two along with my pc have been the stand out stars.

For those who want to make binaural content on the go, check these babies out https://hookeaudio.com/hooke-product/

Wow, that cam is 142. on new egg!

OK, they went up in price (like everything)

I saw 2 - 5star reviews for Logitech 4k Pro, 150.00

Ok-- so I'm coming back to camming after a long hiatus. I need recommendations on a decent webcam or camera with remote control capabilities. Trying to keep it at or under 500 to start as... I've been gone for a while and need to plan my funds carefully.

You will also need a microphone, since it doesn't have inbuilt microphone. The best one out there is Blue Yeti Nano https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Microphone-Podcasting-No-Latency-Monitoring/dp/B07QLNYBG9/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1CZS1A95QT2DA&keywords=blue+yeti+nano&qid=1640512853&sprefix=blue+yeti+nano%2Caps%2C179&sr=8-2

We are all using this and it's hands down the best microphone out there.

I don't want to buy an extra thing.

Thank you

The remote controlled ones, no.
For a good quality remote controlled webcam is inconvenient to have an inbuilt mic anyway, because they are meant to be further away from you (they have an excellent zoom) and the members have a hard time hearing you. Trust me, a separate mic does make the difference, all the members love it, you don't have to talk too loud to be heard, your sound is crisp and clear, overall it's a plus! I avoided a long time to buy a separate mic, but once I did, all the members noticed and told me they love because they can actually hear me.

Oh, this looks interesting and super cheap. I had no idea there are cameras like this. Can't find this in my country haha!
It seems it has digital zoom, i saw a youtube review and it might not be the best, but the quality of the camera when unzoomed is pretty good and the mic is pretty sharp and clear. So, if you're not obsessed with super clear zooms like I am, go for it! I guess you can test it and see how it is ;D

Is anyone experiencing a lag with Logicapture? It's like my movements are not smooth. It always worked great before. I tried an uninstall/reinstall but no luck. I tried streaming without it but my picture is not as clear. I would sure appreciate any help with this.

Ok, ended up getting c930e, I had one previously, guys were complaining about my cam being blurry, I needed something right away.

I was eying this:
56374
The one shown is a more expensive version the one I wanted was like 250.

Best buy had it, but now sold out, Newegg has it for more $, I'd have to wait.

I have this cam. It is a work horse and I love it. Still thinking I want a 4k cam, but honestly my internet is insanely fast upload/download and SM still manages to have low BR (I always check on this and it is their servers effing up) --streaming 4k on most cam sites when guys are watching on their phone is meh...great for clips though. But yeah...BCC950 is still great.

Hey there. Depends on how many sites you want to stream. A desktop is the most reccomended as it runs faster and breaks less than a laptop and it's cheaper.
If money is not an issue, you can go for an intel core i7 10th gen, 16 GB of Ram memory at least. And from there, sky is the limit!

As a webcam, logitech brio is what everyone uses right now. It's perfect.

So logitech isnt updating the capture software anymore? How do we record videos with the webcam now? I literally have to download a manual and watch 200 youtube videos to find out how to do this? LOL
