Totally agree! Especially when you read about how others have been affected by AB5 that are not in the camming industry.Companies are just dropping them.
yup and all that shit talking some ppl did .. sm saved models asses and their own- i dont see no shade in that. i am very thankful to know we sustain enough on the back end of streamate that they didnt have to suddenly toss models like other sites. SM came at it full force struggling and working out kinks to have models stream.

i know yall went through hell but in the end california models are still streaming on streamate :)

But they did toss models, models right there in California. There are several members on this board. They were too embarrassed to speak up because they thought they would be judged because they're low earners. Please don't overlook that.

It also says I worked 57.35 hours for the two weeks when I worked under 27.

They said I worked 89 hours - yeah ok maybe 34? but 89? Never in my life would I even

It also says I worked 57.35 hours for the two weeks when I worked under 27.

my hours on the main portal page were also way off, and are also incorrect on the PDF paycheck. they seem to have only included the second week but not the first week of hours.

my gross pay amount is correct though.

still, i don't want there to be recorded data that i know is incorrect, so I guess I'll reach out to let them know my total time worked was wrong.

more extra work for us, so annoying. -_-

I had to speak with Melissa about the pay error, she said it was an issue with Cal Gems and not Resourcing Edge but that she'd try to contact them for me about it. I emailed Cal Gems about it this morning but haven't heard anything from them. Not annoying at all.

yeah I basically included the [email protected], [email protected], and the general ResourcingEdge email in my message. asked them to tell me who is the best person to contact in the future if a similar issue arises. (no response yet)

i'm glad my payment itself is accurate but this is still not promising. i'd really rather not have to spend extra time every week scrutinizing the details of my paycheck because my company has demonstrated themselves to be totally incompetent.

damn you know what- i honestly forgot. i knew of one and she was streaming last week. ty for that reminder
this is exactly what got me started hustling more and busting my ass - i cant believe I forgot this fact .. all this so i dont get kicked if a law changes in the future and here i am praising them - good looking out bc i damn sure forgot

After reaching out to Melissa she reached out to whoever at RE and they told me they'd fix my pay issue and send the remainder ACH out and that I'd have it on Monday, CalGems responded by email this morning and said the same and in the employee portal said ACH is showing up.

I got a response back from [email protected] and they told me they corrected my hours ... except the hours they listed were incorrect in a different way this time, despite me explaining what the proper amount should be in my initial email.

So I had to respond again and tell them they were still wrong and to correct them again.

Sheesh.

Period. It's so easy to be complacent and think you're fine. You never know what's gonna happen. I think it's good to be aware and to hustle! I remember getting the email about it from Katy and kind of ignoring it for a little bit. I thought it was for Canadian models. Boy was I wrong!

Hello lovely ladies. This is my first week with CalGems please help me to understand the schedule. Is pay date for the period we just closed is March 12? I still don’t see any pay statements on employee portal, is that normal or I have to email them?

Payouts are every other Friday, so the next one is March 13th. It will include the most recent week that just ended on the 29th, as well as the current week. You won't see any paycheck statements on the portal until the 12th.

Ladies, I know we all have different settings and % and different cities but I still wanna ask. Rough numbers, 180$ per 1k for taxes, is that something similar you looking at or I filed all those papers completely wrong?

That sounds about right. It seems like a lot but I think we're just not used to seeing the taxes taken out.

18% is far less than I've ever paid in total taxes while self employed... sounds correct or even low to me.

Though it depends a lot on your total earnings, location, and general tax situation (number of claims/exemptions, etc.)

I’m trying my best to calm down. It’s just so unfair, omg, so unfair. I feel like I was punished but committed no crime! Those time sheets such a night mare. Each time I’m doing it I can’t stop thinking that I’m doing much more job for less money, which doesn’t make any sense. I’m sorry for spreading negative thoughts but I can’t help it

I'm with ya! I know it's a hard adjustment. So many people were just left high and dry with no job. I just try to look at the positive, I can still earn good money on SM, it might just take a little more time and effort. Do you need help or have any questions about the time sheets? Maybe we can help.

I'm actually enjoying the change, taxes have always been a nightmare for me so this has made things way easier. Plus the switch to biweekly paychecks has made me get more organized and punching in the time sheets makes me see how appallingly little time I actually spend online and has been spurring me to work more.

just gotta say, keep it in perspective.

tons of people got screwed over by AB-5. streamate came through to be compliant. yes it sucks that some girls got straight up fired, but we weren't.

also with the coronavirus panic, we are really fortunate to be working from home. if you've logged enough hours at this point you may even be eligible for a day of paid sick leave/time off. (not sure if that math adds up, but i'm just saying it's a possibility we didn't have before. also if this world crisis affects your income you are still guaranteed minimum wage for the hours you log, which a lot of people can't say right now.)

after a few weeks of being an employee, it's not that big of a deal to me. i keep a favorited tab on my bookmarks bar next to my streamatemodels login page, that has my calgems timesheet on google drive. every new week i just duplicate a blank copy and it's actually quite simple to start fresh. i log the time i logged on and off, right as it happens. i don't understand anyone who doesn't do it right away - that sounds like a giant headache to calculate later on.

edit: i will reiterate as i've said before -- this employment change made me expand my income sources and branch out of streamate. i still use streamate on occasion but it's no longer my primary income as it was for several years. i boosted up my social media and got my regulars over to indie, and now i hit my goals without streamate at all. i log a few hours a week just to have a presence on the site. it's become extra/secondary income for me.

if you dislike the change so much, then change something else to improve your situation.

Thank you guys, it feels good to know that you not alone on this. Maybe those changes not that bad. Coronavirus situation shutting down a lot of doors, people can’t work and pay there bills but we can. At this point we are really fortunate to have this job.

you are missing the point.

we can bill for non streaming time. commission and non stream time are paid separate

if I stream for 2 hrs I earn my commission or min wage which ever is higher.

i also bill 15 mins before my show as set up time. that is 15 mins at min wage on top of commission.

after a show I spend 30 mins doing inmail. thats another 30 mins at min wage on top of commission.

if you are doing something related to streamate like replying to inmail or updating profile or uploading videos you can charge for that time and will get min wage.

we make MORE money now if you pay attention. do your time in during your set up. do your time out after your show. its simple and takes 2 mins.

quit selling yourselfs short and use the timecard.

Wait!! What!! So if I spend an extra two or three hours a week working on non-performance stuff we get minimum-wage for that part? Like that's separate?

they aint dumb tho so dont over bill hrs or they will crack down or start firing people.

we got it really good right now. we can make more money than before because we can bill for stuff we did for free before like inmail or clean up or making videos.

lots of people are losing jobs over this virus and we can still work.

Trying to help a friend in California set up a Streamate account. The model signup page says "Due to recent changes to California laws as stated in AB-5, at this time, we are not in a position to accept any new models residing in California. If you are not a resident of California and have proof of residency elsewhere, click here."

So... it is possible, or no? How can my friend write to CalGems. Or who is a good contact for Streamate's support team. (Liz? What's her info?)

Edit: Talking to another cam friend who lives in CA, is enrolled in SM through Boleyn Models with a CA driver's license, and has never received any messages about AB-5 at all. Still camming strong. Did she get grandfathered in? We are both so confused! Thanks :)

Sorry to say they are not hiring new California models. Not sure what happened with the other person but yes you basically had to be grandfathered in. If you are new, messaging SM or Liz will not help. I think once you submit your ID if it's California they pretty much block your account at this point.

^ yeah it sucks but as far as i know, they aren't accepting new CA models. although, given the somewhat dire/extreme circumstances in CA right now, maybe she could still try emailing Liz and asking, particularly if she has any past relevant experience.

i'm actually wondering if the "shelter at home" ordinance in CA is going to have any effect on AB-5. they should really just completely suspend/stop enforcing it for the time being, so all the people who just lost their jobs due to coronavirus-related things can actually find some independent contractor/work from home positions.

I'm a little confused with the new timesheet instruction email.

When they say "For the next biweekly payroll, you must submit two weekly timesheets by March 22nd" Not sure what they mean by two timesheets this week?

Do we send them the old version timesheet and the new timesheet tonight? With the new timesheet you can't change the dates and the dates are set for this coming week and I have no idea what my camming hours will be.

They changed it. They're going by PST so we're actually including Saturday evening on the same day. So those hours would be for your previous timesheet. You can email them and change it still I think, since it's before cutoff for next payday.

I just found in another thread girls talking about new Sm agreement. Under the new agreement in a part of one of the sections it says streamate and studio have the right to use and mention performer name, name AND any fiction names as well as voice. I got confused because I haven’t see anything like that on my side. Have you? Or as CalGems we already signed it and I totally missed it?
