I sent in both time sheets, even have proof but they said they didn't get the one for March 8th, um yes you did. So now I get paid I guess Wednesday. I'm going to start asking them to reply back that they got it. This isn't my mistake. Be careful!

you are missing the point.
we can bill for non streaming time. commission and non stream time are paid separate
if I stream for 2 hrs I earn my commission or min wage which ever is higher.
i also bill 15 mins before my show as set up time. that is 15 mins at min wage on top of commission.
after a show I spend 30 mins doing inmail. thats another 30 mins at min wage on top of commission.
if you are doing something related to streamate like replying to inmail or updating profile or uploading videos you can charge for that time and will get min wage.
we make MORE money now if you pay attention. do your time in during your set up. do your time out after your show. its simple and takes 2 mins.
quit selling yourselfs short and use the timecard.
Last week I billed them 9 hours of off stream time bc site was down or kicking me off / takes me 45 mins at least to get ready and 30 to finish for the night - you should do more
I'm only saying you should do more bc I know it takes us longer than 15 min to get ready and we just don't want to get in trouble - but you can

I was wondering about that, like since the timesheets are so important to where we don't get paid if they're not sent in it would be nice if we were able to get some sort of confirmation that they were received once we sent them.

Just curious if you all are seeing this weeks pay info in the employee portal? I'm not seeing anything yet. The new timesheet thing has me nervous. :/
I see my 3/27 pay statement in the portal.
And yes I agree with other posts here that they should be sending us confirmations after receiving our timesheets.
Sorry about your delay, Gracie, that sucks.

Thanks guys! I would like to complain to HR about this. :) I was just thinking about that if we have a problem, who do we go to? Like honestly, it was not my mistake it was theirs and now I have to wait to be paid because of them. They aren't even acknowledging it that it was their fault.

If it were me, I would write up an email and just CC all of the accounts. So the
[email protected] account,
[email protected], and
[email protected] If you have any direct contacts at Resourcing Edge I would tack that on too.
Be persistent, but polite/professional. And provide screenshot proof that you sent your timesheets in on time, etc. If it truly wasn't your fault someone needs to own up to it. It is complete garbage of them to pay you late if you completed all the timesheet paperwork properly, especially during these unstable/challenging pandemic times. None of us should have to be concerned about something as basic and necessary as our company competently paying us on time right now.

I AM MOVING TO VEGAS because of this. Supposedly theyll switch me back once I get an id and a bill in my name. THANK GOD - hated this shit
Hmmm....you’re gonna move to Vegas now? The worst possible time in history?
Might actually be a good idea if you only work online. Getting an apartment or a house very easily because everyone is unemployed. It would be so weird living there right now with the strip shut down.

Uggghhh I didn't get paid today. And NO pay info in my portal. And I too turned in timesheets both weeks. That's so frustrating. They even acknowledged they received the most recent one, and I had gone back and forth about the older one and DID IT. I need my fucking money so I can order groceries two weeks out now that I'm holed up here like a typhoid Mary. (I just have a cold though, not typhoid fever).

I don't understand why they can't pay us and just get the time sheets later and if there's non-streaming hours pay them on the next paycheck. This time I definitely feel like we were penalized as they are working out their kinks. They told me that they sent me a warning email on Wednesday that I was not going to get paid on time because I didn't have my timesheet in however I did not receive that. They also said that several girls were also missing timesheets so i'm assuming it's a glitch on their end. I guess next pay period we have to double and triple check with them. I did address that I think we should get a response back that they did receive our time sheet and they said they are working on it and that we will start receiving a response back that our timesheet was revived. So that's good I guess.

Lol! I know I emailed about it on Friday and they said a bunch of other girls were requesting an acknowledgment also. I said it wasn't fair that I didn't get paid on time when I had no knowledge that they supposedly had not received my time sheet. I said that I didn't know either way if they got it because I never got a response.

With so many replies on the original AB-5 post, spanning across the time where the law was first introduced, changing, and then being implemented, I thought it appropriate to start a new post to hopefully summarize where things currently stand.
How has the law ultimately impacted cam girls in California?
What adjustments has everyone had to make in order to a) conform to the new rules, and b) to adapt to make sure your income has not been impacted?
What are these new rules, and how much autonomy (if any) have we lost. What benefits (if any) have we gained?
Also wondering how the changes are affecting taxes. If we're employees, can we still deduct costumes, makeup, internet, home office, etc?
Any other relevant info I'm not thinking to ask?

Please do not create a new thread. Many of these questions can be answered by reading through this one. Perhaps someone will come along and respond directly to each part of your post. Also you can start it off by telling us how it's impacted you as a cammodel.

I started the new post because the amount of info on this thread was overwhelming.
As far as how it’s affected me as a cam model, it hasn’t. I stopped stripping in 2013. And on Thursday, my fiancé who had been supporting me financially kicked me out. So I need to figure out how to go about camming in California. The “new to camming” thread isn’t specific to how AB-5 has affected things, and I’ve been trying to read through this thread, but like I said, it was just overwhelming. Maybe I’m not aware of a search function is should be using? When I’ve tried using the regular search function, I’m getting all irrelevant results.

This is my understanding. On cams and SM you had to have already been a model on the site prior to ab5 for them to evaluate whether or not you were eligible being made an employee, seemingly based on past performance. Those who weren't were let go.
I believe you can still sign up for Chaturbate. Not sure about mfc or others.

I can't speak for camgirls as a whole, but I would say this has not had a huge impact on me. I know many girls got fired/let go, so it has certainly had a very negative impact for some.
I am on Streamate, and they made "eligible" models move to a third party studio called CalGems in order to become employees that were compliant under AB-5. Now we are getting paid less commission than before (for me it is 6% less; I went from 35% to 29% - other girls seemingly got slightly different offers), and we are now W2 employees, not 1099 contractors. CalGems takes taxes out of our paychecks, which are now bi-weekly instead of weekly. Also, we make minimum wage OR our commission, whichever is highest. We are also able to get paid minimum wage for "non-streaming" hours, such as when we're getting ready, sending/making videos, etc., as long as it's related to Streamate/CalGems. I would consider this a perk/benefit.
Personally, I "adapted" by becoming more active on social media right before AB-5 was passed, which allowed me to move a lot of my customers from the main site over to indie/Skype. So now I make most of my income that way. I still cam on Streamate for the exposure and decent income, but considerably less than I did pre-AB5.
The new "rules" (this is for CalGems specifically, I don't know about other sites that have moved models to employee status) involve us having to send in weekly timesheets, and taking mandatory "lunch breaks" after we've streamed a certain amount of hours. I suppose you could argue some autonomy has been lost in this sense, but I don't think it's all that significant at this point. They are not making us stream a minimum amount of hours, nor do they seem to be capping the amount of hours we can work.
If you work full time which is 30+ hours a week on CalGems/Streamate, you are eligible for various benefits which I believe include health insurance options among other things. I opted for part time though, so I cannot chime in much about this. I think we are all eligible for "paid time off/vacation time" which accumulates as you work more hours. But frankly I don't see why anyone would ever use this since you don't have to request time off in the first place. I guess if you had enough hours accumulated you could have them pay you minimum wage for your day(s) off.
As for taxes, my assumption is that if you solely work on Streamate/CalGems (or as a W2 employee on another camsite) and have no other 1099 camming/adult income, then no, you would not be able to deduct expenses the way you would while self-employed. This is a major oversight in regards to AB-5 changing so many people's employment/tax statuses, so hopefully this gets considered and re-worked somehow in the future. For me, I still do indie camming as well as clips, which is all still self-employed/1099 income, so I plan to continue my usual write-offs.

Yeah I thought that was a little off considering they've made some understandable mistakes too. AND yes of course we should turn in timesheets on time, but to my knowledge this is the first time they've given a clear deadline of 36 hours so it's really jumping the gun talking about discipline etc.

I'm not surprised, when I saw the non-streaming option on the time cards I was imagining how some chicks would try to take inappropriate advantage of it. Especially when there was a chick in this thread talking about how she includes her get-ready/makeup time before logging on in the timesheet as such and was encouraging others to do the same. I mean I get that that get-ready time is a part of our job and sure it would be lovely if we got paid for it lol, but what other employees in other industries get paid for the necessary time that it takes them at home to get ready for work?

They actually do include prepping for a streamate show in the list of billable non-streaming time in the employee FAQ they sent out. That, updating your bio, uploading vids, updating your timesheet, and then attempting to stream "but unable to stream due to a streamate outage" is what's listed. I didn't believe it either til I read that.
It's totally true most other jobs don't pay for things like that. Although, there's definitely an exception with entertainment/tv/film. Going into makeup, setting up before actual shooting time, etc. is time on the clock in that industry so it's not unheard of for sure. And artists also receive 'kit fees' for using their own equipment/supplies. Slightly different industry, but anywayze. I've been billing for fifteen minutes before and after each long shift/day and haven't heard anything from them.

Employees should not, however, record time spent working out, putting on make-up, or selecting an outfit. These tasks are discretionary and not absolutely necessary to the job of live streaming.

how long ago did you have an account? it may have only been deactivated depending on how long you were away. i want to say they deactivate inactive accounts after 3 months and delete them after 6 months, but i am not totally certain on that. the main streamate thread might have an answer there.
i assume you're in california because you posted here? if you want to try to reactivate an old account i would reach out to Liz and see if they can reactivate your account and get you signed onto CalGems. i wouldn't get my hopes up though, they may reject you.
if you're not in California anymore (since you said "what if I have ID in another state") then I would just make a brand new account and use your non-California ID. i would think they'd accept you in that case.
eta: just FYI, the AB-5 law pertains to *where* the work is being done, so if you are camming on SM in California you'd have to become a CalGems employee to be legit, even if you have a valid ID in another state.

Did anyone else get a weird cryptic message from CalGems through SM? I'm just getting ready to logon tonight and it's telling me to check the email on file with CalGems regarding my employment. Did you turn in time sheets for the two weeks that you took off? I know they want timesheets even if you didn't work so that might be the reason for yours. Bumping this because I had a CalGems question for anyone who might know.
Since our timesheets go through Saturday night at 11:59pm, does that mean whatever money we make up until then will go on the corresponding paycheck?
I ask because Streamate's pay schedule cuts off at 4pm PST on Saturdays. So I'm wondering if we make money between 4pm and 11:59pm on Saturdays, does that end up on that week's CalGems paycheck, or the following week (i.e. the way it's reflected on our Streamate earnings page)?
Hope that makes sense.

My paychecks align with SM's timing; so for instance my cutoff for this week is tonight at 5, so any money I make tonight after 5pm won't be on my next paycheck but the one after that.

Okay cool, that's what I was hoping. I haven't worked very many Saturday evenings since we switched to CalGems so I wasn't sure. Thanks!

Also just as a heads up for anyone; I assumed that if you don't work at all for a week you don't have to send in a timesheet since there would be absolutely nothing to enter into one, so last week when I didn't work at all I just sent them an email saying I wasn't sending one because I didn't work and in the middle of the week they let me know that for weeks not worked you still need to send an empty timesheet(with the x checked at the top) and an email letting them know that you didn't work at all(I assume so they know that sending the empty timesheet wasn't a fuck up).

Hey ladies! Has anyone been keeping up with a AB5 news? Apparently they "cleaned" it up a little bit but I don't know if that applies to us. Just thought I'd check and see if anyone has any insight. Anonamiss where you at? You're good at explaining things! :) I found this but definitely need to read it more thoroughly. http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=201920200AB2257
