Ugh, I will try again tomorrow. You are only the third person I know who has gotten through.
In other news, we can try to file for SNAP, Cash assistance, and medicaid now.

I applied for SNAP. It has been a similar situation.

I completed the online application, then it instructed me to call for an interview. When I did, it was only a recorded message saying "An interview may not be necessary. If one is necessary, we we review your application and send you a notice." Well, a couple days after, I did receive a notice saying that I must call for an interview, or else my application will not be processed. What do you know--the number to call for an interview is the same one that just plays the recorded message saying an interview may not be necessary.
...
So I tried calling a different number that was on the letter I got, and listened to another recording, and followed the steps to "check the status of my SNAP application." I then waited on hold for 45 minutes. After 45 minutes, the hold music abruptly stopped and I heard 3 rings and then silence. I waited for another 10 minutes before hanging up as it was just complete silence. I then called back, waited on hold for another 50 minutes, and then a voice said "We are experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again later," and just hung up on me.

My unemployment application still says pending. I wonder if it's because I haven't filed 2019 taxes yet. I am unable to reach anyone over the phone to check the status of it, no matter which number I call or how many times I call.

I applied for Economic Injury Disaster Loan Emergency Advance (EIDL) 11 days ago (March 31st). I just called to check my status on that, and they said my application is in the system, but they don't have ANY sort of time frame as to when things will be moving forward.

I am trying to apply for PPP, but it is asking for my 2019 taxes, so I will try to file them myself today so I can do that.

Right now I'm doing Postmates deliveries to make money for food, but I only get 1-3 deliveries per day making $7-21 per day. I didn't have success with phone sex or camming. Could try phone sex again, I'm just not sure how to handle all the weird fetish requests. My credit cards are maxed and I'm hoping I don't get evicted because I won't be able to pay rent this month if none of these "relief funds" ever come through.

You cannot be evicted if that makes you feel a little better. No one can be evicted during a state of emergency or until the pandemic is deemed over. You can check into it but I definitely read that. I’m sorry you aren’t having any luck.
the state that I work in started distributing the additional 600/week to people receiving uc but STILL haven’t updated the systems for independents and self employed which is absurd to me. We were forced out of work and aren’t getting anything yet people already getting compensated are receiving additional money. Such bullshit.

hang in there. I just had to dip into my cushion which should last me another week or two then i have to dip I to savings :(

Good luck qualifying unless you were an employee or owned a business.....

"Under normal circumstances, businesses structured as sole proprietorships aren’t able to collect unemployment benefits because unemployment taxes aren’t paid if you don’t have employees.

However, you may be able to collect benefits as an S corporation if you treat yourself as an employee. That means you receive a paycheck from your business that deducts federal and state taxes (including unemployment taxes).

To receive benefits, you must actively seek work each week that you file a claim."

Ok so-from following this thread, if you're an employee/IC you're eligible for UI, but the actual business is not eligible for aid? (as in an S.O.B)

I am in CA and would think the unions would go nuts about this...esp. if it was the adult performers themselves who were ineligible.

Not exactly. There are programs, (not good ones) that do offer support for small businesses. The "paycheck protection program" offers loans that are convertible to grants if a small business keeps its employees on for the next ninety days at full pay. Lots of strings attached to that program, and I suspect that very few loans will get converted to grants and forgiven. But, it's there and might work in the right circumstances.

Thanks. I think the majority of the people on the thread are going to be the performers themselves so it shouldn't be big issue.

But that's discrimination yo. We pay equal taxes, we need equal rights.

Has anyone had any luck yet with UC? The state I live in apparently opened up yesterday to se, Ic and gig workers but still not the state I work. Ugh. It’s been over a month there has been plenty of time to figure this shit out.

My state allowed us to apply this past Monday; the website wasn't working for most of the day and kept on crashing, it was a mess. I applied during off-hours and managed to get my application in. I won't know until Monday If I've been approved.

what information did you have to submit? The name of the club? How did you verify your income? Bank statements?

I don't remember exactly but I do know it was just a lot of basic stuff; it asked whether or not I was an independent contractor, and a bunch of questions about when and how the pandemic has affected me. As far as income proof, that was actually optional and the only option for that was if you had a 2019/2020 tax return form to submit. I did not have that yet so I just opted out of it. I assume if they do ever ask me for another proof of income it would indeed just be bank statements as I see no other way for them to verify that. I did not have to give my club name or any info about who employed me/what my employment was. The next step is to "certify" as being unemployed after the 20th. I'll post again when I do that and talk about that process. This was just the MI state forms though, yours might end up being different if you're in a different state.

Okay so it took *way* longer than they said it would, but that's no surprise really. I finally got through and my application was processed. I had to fill out a certification for every week leading up to now from the start of our lockdown. All those certifications are now also processing so the wait continues...

On the application, I identified myself as an independent contractor and for employer put myself seeing as we're self-employed. On my taxes, I always put "Performing Artist" as the occupation.

Maybe this is a silly question, but can you still apply for unemployment if you have never filed taxes for your stripper money? I only filed taxes on a regular job I worked for one month.

In GA you have to be denied for regular unemployment in order to get PUA. Then they’ll send u another email stating that and a link to apply for PUA. This is a lease on for everyone to file taxes. Keep your 1099 from the club if you get one and your 2019 tax return. You can Also use your permit for a proof of self employment or gig worker. The 600 a week is only on til July 31. At minimum, if u were to get approved, you’d get 2400 a month. Before they slap in the extra 600, they will give u a regular unemployment benefit that u qualify for. Some states the minimum is $55 but regardless, if u qualify for at least $1 after you file for PUA, you will get the extra $600 a week. My PUA application had already been processed and I’ve sent in my wage verification forms. Just waiting on a decision. I’ll make sure to keep y’all updated.

Personal update: I’m in CA and filed my claim on the 12th, just received a letter that it was filed. I actually took a long break from dancing & started at a new club in January (I was unemployed for most of 2019, the most I made during the “base period” was like $300). I was pretty much just getting used to the CA system where we’re classified as employees, I know they recorded our dances somehow but I never received a paycheck, just a cash payout every shift. Anyway sucks I was just getting back into the swing of things before it all went to shit, I don’t even know if I qualify but I tried anyway & am awaiting more info. The thing is I’m not even sure what my last date worked exactly was I just guessed, I’ve tried to get a hold of the managers and they’re not answering my calls—I don’t even know their last names which is one of the details on the form I had to submit, I just put first names & hoped for the best. When I filled out the form, the club’s LLC was already listed under my social security, so that part was easy clearly I’m already in the system, I just don’t know if I’ll be denied based on those 2 arbitrary errors. Going to call the unemployment office & see if I can get a hold of anyone, looks like it’s going to be a huge headache trying to get thru to someone on the phone. I wouldn’t qualify for regular unemployment cause I didn’t make enough during the base period, I literally just started @ this club but I figured I’d make an attempt seeing as all kinds of exceptions are being made for the pandemic.

Camgirl here. I never put that I'm in the sex/adult industry on any paperwork I fill out nor do I think most sex workers do if they can help it. I put self-employed or independent contractor. If it asks for specifics in the past I've put customer service, internet marketing, internet sales and now I put web design and development. To each their own but imo there's no reason to claim sex work on paper unless you want to.

That's interesting. They didnt ask for any info about the club you were working at? Or about income? How did you certify for being unemployed?

Reason I ask is bcuz I was dancing in Guam at the time. Their UI benefits aren't going to be up until Mid May. However I'm living in California right now. And they just opened there application for self-employed. I'm wondering if i should just go thru CA's unemployment.

Guam is paying out more $$ tho.

God is good ladies. Woke up this morning to 3 weeks worth of PUA in my account. Mine is 190 plus the extra 600 a week. All I did was turn in my 1099, permit, and tax return for 2019. I hope this helps. I’m in Georgia just in case anyone wants to know.

Also wanted to state that I applied for food stamps and those were approved and expedited too. In Georgia I think everyone can get them now. I got $355 a month. As “sex workers” lol I feel like if you paid your taxes you should get all the benefits that come with that. Good luck ladies.

Anyone here from NY? I filed around April 5th and it says my claim is still pending. I got a deposit of $600 last week, assuming it was PUA. I have not recieved anything this week. For anyone recieving unemployment, do payments come weekly and is it usually on the same day? I have not been able to reach a rep through phone and idk what to do from here.

You need to file a weekly certification to continue getting benefits. Also be aware that you will owe taxes on the 600/week since you opted out of having it withheld.

some states/cities require permits.most do not.

Just came to advise anyone who gets a no or a gets stymied by the process to apply in another state if you can. Keep checking back for updates to the website you applied on they are literally updating daily. You do not have to say you are a stripper camgirl or ps operator. Entertainer is a great catchall for those positions. It's also a good choice because in some time Unemployment WILL begin to offer you jobs that are "suitable" to get you off the government teat! Trust there aren't Entertainment jobs now and won't be for months. Stay home if you want to. But don't feel you can't work at all if you want to. You can have a side job and still maintain eligibility as long as you don't go full time.

This is a great time to take classes but I'd think twice about mentioning it to Unemployment. Classes that make it impossible to work will get you kicked from the program. Every week Certify that you are ready and able to work even if all hell is breaking loose with your kids/parents/etc. Consider it a formality.

Personally I tried to apply in South Carolina and have found that they have a rigged website that will not let you apply. There should have be a live link for PUA installed back in April. It's still not available. This state just wants to open up now, lives be damned! I applied in my home state and expect my 2 months of backdated benefits in 2 days.

I say if you gotta apply in a neighboring state to survive, you ladies do what you must. It's a Federal program, so the state you apply in isn't a big deal. If you worked there for even a day, it's legally fair game. By law you could apply in multiple states and have them collaborate on your payout. I don't suggest you do multiple because of the potential delay but you have the right.

If you need to file your Federal taxes DO SO. Don't be afraid to. I recommend Prior Tax.com because they are cheap and quick. They can file your state taxes as well for 15-30 bucks! When Unemployment looks for a paper trail of your work, they can find it. There's no penalty for filing late this year.

This is for PA but it applies to all states:

i was concerned about the tax situation since I haven’t filed but on my unemployment application I claimed work since like 2017. However I also claimed pt and really there was no where to enter yearly hours/amounts and i was under the limit to have to file for all those years but because the pua pays even if you were about to start a job it shouldn’t matter. Hopefully this won’t be enough issue because they saw it as enough credits to give me reg unemployment on top of pua.

You or others may still want to file taxes if you want/need other benefits from your state like medical care or food stipend (SNAP). Most folks lose their healthcare once they lose their job so a lot of states are extending a helping hand for treatment.

im not sure what filing taxes has to do with Medicaid or Snap? At least in my state, you do not need to file taxes to receive either and actually they are for people on little or no income so would not be filing anyway. The only thing that changed here is people receiving those benefits would automatically be renewed and if they are over the limit they would still continue receiving benefits until the state of emergency is declared over.

I don’t think so if you are able to work remotely. Unless you were working in a building that supplied the cams/laptops, etc. three possibly.
