I used this before, Wendi mentioned it, an agency for remote (& other jobs).

I hate tho, that there's stuff you have to look in the description for, i.e.that you're required to be a resident of a certain state, even tho it's remote?::)

Also, non-remote jobs are included, ::) no matter how I word the search! :(

Lots of call centers are hiring for the holidays.

I found a companion type gig(non-sexual). It's helping elderly and can be done remotely or in-person. I guess I could video chat with a granny or grandpa to help them be less lonely. I applied. I'll see what happens.

https://www.joinpapa.com/careers

I'm sorry that I haven't visited this thread in a while. I had actually joined Papa Pals sometime last year to do the virtual option (It wasn't video call...it was just phone call, which I thought was bizarre). I never made a dime off it and quickly gave up, because in order to make money you have to have the people actually answer the phone and stay on the phone for a certain amount of time. I would call them, and IF they answered they'd be annoyed with me for calling (As if they didn't even know they were in this program, or they'd just forgotten?)...some of them would say "But I just did my call with someone else the other day!," or they'd tell me "I told them I want them to take me off this list so I don't get any more calls."

I was really surprised the first time I started on the app and found out it's just phone calls...NOT video calls. In some of the notes (For things they'd like you to talk about with this person) it would tell you to make sure your Pal doesn't have any safety hazards...meaning that they can walk around safely without tripping/falling over anything. I don't know HOW you're supposed to check for something like that if you're A) not in a VIDEO call with them or B) not actually there at their home in person. I really felt like those instructions should've been reserved for the people who did the in-person visits.

I remember I'd set aside a few hours out of my day trying to do these calls, and I'd wind up wasting that time having earned NOTHING because of people not answering the phone, or people answering and being caught off guard and annoyed with me. I don't like work from home jobs where I have to bother people at home (and deal with annoyed people), and not even get paid unless I'm successful in keeping them on the phone for X amount of minutes. I had even participated in one of their live chat sessions where they give advice to Papa Pals and let them ask questions. I'm not sure how all these other people make money with it. Maybe they've been going at it for a while, and just stayed persistent about reserving time slots and calling this person and that person. *Shrugs* It sounded like it'd be really cool, but ended up not being what I thought. So I had e-mailed them and asked to be removed from the list.

So I saw this on Craigslist, it's transcribing, you need to fill out online (computer only phone can't be used).

You must pass an English grammar, & a transcribing test.

There's a great private group on Facebook for work-from-home jobs. The group has 191,000 members. What's nice about it is you can ask the group about a position you just applied for (or that you're thinking of applying for) and usually there's a number of people in the group who are already working there (or did work there) who can tell you all about it... what the pay is... benefits, etc. Most of the jobs they post are legitimate. And a lot of the jobs are with big, well-known companies.

The group is called: Virtual Workers of America

Good luck!

What would/could you put on the resume if sex work was the only job you've ever had?

Question:
What would/could you put on the resume if sex work was the only job you've ever had?
I'm looking for a WFH gig.

Well, I put I was a Caregiver, which's true, (I extended the time worked several years) but the one place that hired me (turned out they said they hired me by mistake? ::))
I had to go get it countersigned bt a notary::) they also bombarded me w/bs about other jobs I've had, (online sales, convention sales, promo sales (sample give aways) & assorted pt temp jobs thay they felt weren't REALLY jobs at all? ::)

I just went on an interview yesterday (interestingly enough, for a PT temp job Craigslist ad), they acted like:

1. Caregiver, like stay at home mom, is nothing? Idt so..I did online sales, that was nothing (according to them too)::)

2. My other jobs were nothing (btw they knew SHIT about conventions, promo jobs etc..
Btw, the one dragon, I mean lady, saw my resume, & wanted to interview me, why call me in, for all that BS??

3 Asked me before interviewing if I wanted to remove my mask, I said no, then later asked me again?! ::) BTW I received a Power Seller for Ebay award, I didn't bother mentioning that. ::)

4 I had a slightly cropped top w/high waisted nice black pants, (I kept my coat on but it was slightly open), she screeched at me cover yourself, like I was naked or something..

I worked a stay at home job briefly, I mentioned it but didn't want to give out the company name so I said it was govt related, (it was) well they pretty much told me that was a lie, & they 'knew lots of ppl in govt jobs that gave them as references' blah blah blah

Almost walked out of the interview, I'm glad I stayed, it actually went better after that, I'd Never work there tho.

Just my experience, good luck

Just lie and say you worked in a call center or a small retailer before the pandemic and they closed. Do fake references. Lots of places have closed. Just use a closed company.

Well one can try, but it might not be accepted.
I have worked for a closed company, if your work history can't be verified, depending on the prospective company, she may not be able to use the reference.

If you check out my post above, I had to have stuff notarized, I had to send a business school diploma, they wanted my high school diploma & a bunch of other stuff, it was literally a weeks worth of paperwork, in addition to background check, all for nothing, as they said it was a mistake, they never intended to hire ::)me in the 1st place.

Also, they sent me unnecessarily to pick up equipment, which they: didn't know who I was, or what job I was up for?
I got paid, but they shorted me.

But for the last 40 years? Lol
Or...how far back do they want job history?
I could say that I was married, and then took care of my parents until they passed.
Do you think that would be okay?

chanzep
02-24-2022, 09:45 PM
40 years?
Most Resume advisors say to go back 10 years.
I had to lie for 12 of my resume when I was dancing. I just moved dates around of the jobs I had and added a few more and got refrences.
I was a housewife for a while too I always put I was working.

Adding any voluntary roles you've done can help boost your CV work history, especially if it is looking sparse.

I had to refresh my CV recently and had to really think laterally to fill in some gaps due to sex work and periods of illness - so tweaking some dates and then being creative with language to enhance the importance of some minor roles.

If you think ahead and take something voluntary even for a few months, it can be added as experience and shows initiative.

Eg. I started volunteering for one charity for a few half-days per week at the beginning of the pandemic, partly as a way of getting out of the house through the lockdown.
Now I only do a shift every few weeks, but my CV shows I've been in the role for almost 2 years - it's unlikely anyone will ask/check for details.

Just claim you worked as a housecleaner. Trust me, TONS of women either do childcare or cleaning jobs. A living wage is attainable with both occupations.

Again, some prospective employers may takes this, some may not..
If you have a friend's phone number you can give cool, if that works for the PE (prospective employers) & the person vouches for you.

Where I interviewed, the verification wasn't the issue as was the actual work experience : customer service, clerical skills.
I was able to explain my experience, the company's still around, are the same people working there? Probably not, in most of my work history.

As stated previously, in addition to an extensive background check, when I wasn't able to provide a person & phone #, they insisted on getting a notarized statement.

One work at home agency (not the actual company) was OK w/simply doing the background check, the other was not

I put volunteering down too, eh mixed reviews on that.

Thank You ladies for all the awesome suggestions.
I have lots of skills from doing sex work my entire adult life, but need to find a way to relay that to a prospective employer, without telling them that I did sex work.
For example: Sales and people skills, computer skills, marketing, etc.

I would like to revive this thread, currently on glassdoor, adecco.com looking for remote jobs, it's kinda hard, adecco makes you put in a location, I think even if it's remote they want you in their state in case of work/equipment pick up?

The job alerts don't work either..

If you put in a location, they show on site jobs..

Glassdoor is weird that way too, Craigslist is ok, but I've been scammed on there..

Ncrc.org are hiring actors or "civil rights testers" to call different businesses(usually apartments or mortgage lenders) to call businesses as a character and see if you are discriminated against. It could be race related discrimination, gender, or disability. They pay $75 for a 3 hour training and up to $85 per tester call that you do for them. It's all done remotely. I will see if I can find the ad again but I completed training. It's independent contractor and would probably just be a side egg type thing, in case anyone is interested. They have work available in Michigan, California, Illinois and Virginia.

No, but I heard it's not great.

I've been looking on ratracerebllion.com, it agency for wah & other jobs, I filled out an application, took a test but didn't pass..

It's fine, there's tons of others, a lot don't have state restrictions, & provide equipment.

I applied for that Yardi Matrix rent survey job (You're supposed to call different apartment communities, pretending to be a prospective renter), but that shit is way more complicated than you'd think. There's an assessment quiz that you have to take before you get the job, and there's a study manual that's like 50+ pages long! I didn't pass it the quiz, because I got sooo many answers wrong.

Yeah.
F*K those tests, I took one for Hartford, I think it was, (through Rat Race Rebellion) & I failed the test, they give hardly any time to take it.

It's confusing as fuck and I don't get what the trick is to that one. Oh, lol, I did that with a health insurance company and yea people were always mad at them, claims were processed wrong all the time and it’s them who have to spend hours on the phone for the company’s mistakes, it is not fair or right at all so I feel them most of the time but I don’t really feel like hearing all that sometimes.
