I don’t understand why people are acting like dude is being censored into oblivion
He only got blocked from his favorite social media.
If he really wanted to keep talking all this ying yang all he has to do is peddle his lies n hate speech on Fox News, 103.4fm, local KKK meetings, etc where his brainwashing will be accepted.

I don't give a shit, censor him. Twitter is a private company, they can shut you up. They can Ban you from Stripperweb, can't they? They can do it from Twitter, too. They only can't stop you from talking on Public Ground, like a park, or something else that is public. Not a private thing. You make something, you own it. You can't walk into a Denny's and start spouting KKK shit, they can call the cops on you. Not on private property. The first amendment only applies on public ground.
I can kick you the fuck outta my house because I don't like your HAIRSTYLE. It's MY house. You don't have freedom of speech in a private residence or Business. I'll pick you the fuck up and throw you out. Try suing me, see how far that gets you.

When have I ever claimed you did? Never. Not once.
It's not the rally. It's what they do after and because of the rally.
No he didn't. He just told them to go there:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ht20eDYmLXU&ab_channel=BloombergQuicktake%3ANow
But what did you realistically expect to happen when a leader bombards the crowd for over an hour about a "rigged election," an "egregious assault on democracy," "you'll never take back the country with weakness, you have to show strength," and (here's the worst one) "the election was stolen, let’s march to the Capitol?" Add the months of rhetoric and conspiracy theories about stolen elections to incense them.
And your post wasn't even relevant to my reply. To reiterate: you seem to imply that when one major party panders to populism to stay in power, it's fine, but when a small faction of the other major party does, it's terrible.
Like it or not there is a strong populist movement in this country. Trump tapped into anger and resentment among the working class who felt left behind by BOTH parties ; Big Tech ; Internationalists etc. And for three years Trump's policies of restricted immigration and punishing China worked for a lot of people. Trump got hurt by 1. Covid including perceptions that his response was too slow and inadequate and 2. an activated Democrat Party that got their act together in Arizona , Michigan , Wisconsin , Pennsylvania and especially Georgia. I can't stand the woman BUT Stacy Abrams led a fantastic effort to identify hundreds of new voters , get them registered , make them feel wanted and valued and get them to the polls on Election Day. Her organization identified thousands of voters who were not 18 but would be by both Election Days in November AND in January. That added up to far more than Biden's margin of victory which was about 11,000 votes.
Trump was TOLD that a grand total of TWO ( 2 ) dead people voted in Georgia. There were at most 2,000 other improper votes in that state. Again, well below the margin. Trump was wrong , Wrong and WRONG in what he said and did post election. I posted that he lost and Biden won way back; just a day or two after the Election. Now, I think he should resign as minimal atonement for his bad behavior ( sadly, he won't). And while he did tell the crowd to "peacefully and patriotically " protest he was clearly trying to pressure Congress and Pence to violate the Constitution. What he did and said was impeachable. Afaic the only reason to go forward with an impeachment is tp permanently disqualify Trump from Federal Public Office.
I used the self smearing excremental metaphor in an earlier post to highlight Trump's petulance and childish behavior. You know what chimps and other apes do when they are angry ? They throw their own feces around. Afaic , that is exactly what Trump did and most of it ended up on HIM ! He has been the worst example of a spoiled political brat I have ever seen. He made Hillary look honest and gracious by comparison. He DID incite an insurrection. He DID tell his followers to PEACEFULLY demonstrate at the Capitol. He SAID he would be there but ran back to the White House. Clearly he was trying to intimidate the Congress and that alone is impeachable. I hate to agree with Pelosi but he did exhibit unhinged behavior. Did he seriously think he could successfully intimidate Congress into stopping the Electoral Vote tally ? Even his enemies recognize Ted Cruz as one of the smartest people in the Senate so WTF was he thinking by ramrodding this pathetic nonsense ?

Yes, both parties do it. And it's wrong for anyone to do it. So the same reply applies here:
To reiterate: you seem to imply that when one major party panders to populism to stay in power, it's fine, but when a small faction of the other major party does, it's terrible.
And while he did tell the crowd to "peacefully and patriotically " protest
Sure, he made one passing statement acknowledging that they would do that. But he made many more statements for over an hour about the "rigged election," an "egregious assault on democracy," "you'll never take back the country with weakness, you have to show strength," and (here's the worst one) "the election was stolen, let’s march to the Capitol." Do you think hammering your audience with a message and then saying one quick sentence will make them forget that message?

Hey everyone. This is my first post, although I’ve been lurking around here for a looooong time. I probably would’ve posted sooner, but I travel a lot for work, etc.
I saw this thread, and I had to find time to finally participate and respond. Look, I’m reading a lot of misinformation around here about Trump and the Capitol protests. Trump didn’t call for or incite any riots. If you’re only source of information is MSNBC, CNN, ABC, Fox, etc., you’re not going to get the truth or all the facts. The information suppression out here is real. As you can already see, if you don’t accept and go along with the official “mainstream” news narrative, you get shouted down, cancelled, banned, and attacked. It’s like we’re now living in Germany in the Nazi era. If you dare speak out, they come and take you away.
I don’t care if you are a Democrat or Republican. Look at all sources and educate yourself so you can know about what’s really going on. Compare and contrast info from ALL sources.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_P-0I6sAck
I wonder if those downplaying the events and the people involved understand through personal or recent family history how evil the nazis and those who follow them are. Hate festers, they destroy everything in sight including themselves. These are the dredges of society.
If you grew up in a super white area you know what these people are, they flock there. I learned really young that they are filled with hate. I witnessed them terrorizing every minority in public just for fun. These people exist and people like trump know that. Obviously not everyone who acted in that manner are white supremacists but by not actively fighting them they will infect each and every “patriot” they encounter.

Repealing Section 230… a lot of people think it means the end result would be zero moderation. Here’s the thing… content posted in violation of federal law (e.g., child porn, things which violate FOSTA/SESTA amd I’m sure soon SISEA, etc., those HAVE to be acted on, which would constitute moderation. Legislation in 1996 probably didn’t anticipate high speed Internet being the norm, streaming video being a widespread thing, etc.
Section 230… if it were repealed, who in the US would want to run an interactive website? Or host a US-based server? It would probably spell out the end of this one, as well. You’d be opening the door for a SC owner who doesn’t like negative press about their club to launch lawsuits against the webmaster of the site.

Our trade deficit with China was about the same in 2019 as it was in 2016. Trump's trade war with China was devastating for farmers and his steel tariffs overall, were bad for American manufacturers because of the increase in the price of steel. The main reason the economy did well during Trump's first 3 years is because he took office during an economic expansion that just happened to continue after he became president.

There is no question that Trump incited the violence, and Trump made it very clear that he supported the rioters who were attacking the Capitol Building. He went on an hour long rant about the election being stolen from him and how the Republicans were weak and not fighting back, right down the street from where Congress was certifying the election. He called the rioters "special" and said he loves them. Senator Ben Sasse said that while Trump was watching the riots on TV, he couldn't understand why the others watching with him weren't delighted like he was. We know he was trying to delay the vote because his lawyer, Giuliani left a voicemail for the wrong senator, asking the senator to try and delay the vote, because he believed that somehow there was still a chance of overturning the results in court.

You didn't need to look at all sources to see what was going on. All you had to do is watch the videos. It's not that difficult to find videos of Trump's speech or the rioting. Some of the sources you listed are notorious for their bias and dishonesty. Laws only work to a certain extent. You can’t legislate basic human decency.
I’m not the best critical thinker. I plan on improving my critical thinking skills. Most people lack the ability to think critically and engage in good faith, healthy debate.
I’m not a sociologist, so I’m not sure how to solve this problem. From a psychological perspective, I think we have a collective mental health problem.
It’ll probably be hundreds of years before we evolve into more conscious, compassionate human beings. I’m not exactly sure what we can do now?

Why can't you stand Stacey Abrams, especially after supporting Trump for 4 years?
Trump won among white working class voters in 2016. WORKING CLASS . Those with a high school diploma or less. And they are the ones who benefitted from his policies. Their real wages went up. Their employment increased. Trump lost five key states in 2020 primarily because of an aggressive registration and get out the vote effort by the Dems ; including Stacy Abrams in Georgia. She did an outstanding job. Their ground game was better than Trump's. He obviously confused rally attendance with voting. Biden's voters stayed home and voted by mail.
I don't like Abrams . She is a liar ; an apologist for violence ; a crypto-socialist and never had the good grace to concede her gubernatorial loss to Kemp. She keeps trying to blame it on fabulist tales of "voter suppression ". No, Stacy , it was requiring Voter I.D. and obviously you were able to overcome it , twice in 2020.
Told you so.

Yes all websites with user interaction have the 230 liability exception, that has been true since the 1990s.
Like since the start of the internet.
the only exception is for sex workers, with FOSTA changing liability rules. Removing 230 will not remove the changes FOSTA put in place.
you saying it is as public utility doesn’t make it so.

Omg he needs to walk the fuck out. Many customers are pro trump some are opposite (I don't care or vote) but this is ridiculous. Storming a place and a few people dead in DC is enough.
This has turned into a shit show of all republican presidents.

Can you give an example of a “wacko on the left” who should be suspended?
While I’m sure there is no shortage of wackos, it’s only a problem if said wackos start making threats of violence or encourage people to engage in violence against others
I don't think anyone EXCEPT the most extreme accounts ought to be affected. Child porn ; NAMBLA ; Nazis ; Holocaust deniers are a few examples from a VERY short list. As far as "inciting violence " Maxine Waters was far more inciteful than Trump. Trump's words at the rally while way off base and factually delinquent ( as usual ) did not have the element of imminence nor an explicit threat of violence to constitute Incitement to Violence. His tweets are just as factually deficient and delinquent as many others.
The best cure for Trump's bilge has proven to be more and better speech. Not less. The two Republicans from Georgia on "60 Minutes" Sunday torpedoed and sunk Trump's claims of voter fraud , miscounts , phony ballots etc. etc.

Yes all websites with user interaction have the 230 liability exception, that has been true since the 1990s.
Like since the start of the internet.

Laughing to keep from crying. It used to be that Facebook and Twitter got to say : "if you don't like our rules ; our biased enforcement of those rules or anything else about our platforms, start your own. " Parler did just that and now Amazon and Google are kicking it off their servers and won't sell the app. That is an anti-trust violation.

What's next ? Try to pull the licenses of Fox and talk radio stations ?
Those who applaud what Twitter and Facebook did obviously believe in "Free Speech for me but not for thee ".
Even the ACLU is supporting Trump and they hate his guts !

Twitter and Facebook have become like public utilities. They receive exemption from libel suits but in exchange they are not supposed to limit access based on political views. There are plenty of wackos on the left who have not had their accounts suspended or revoked.
They receive protection from non-endorsed third party content. If they paid for published articles, that would be a different story. The exchange isn’t that they’re required to allow anything, it’s protection for liability from anything published by a third party which doesn’t violate federal law and being able to moderate content (this was after the court cases against CompuServe and Prodigy). CompuServe - which did not moderate content - was declared to be a distributor rather than a publisher, and won their case. Prodigy, which did moderate content, was declared a publisher and was sued into oblivion by Stratton Oakmont, Inc. (the brokerage house portrayed in The Wolf of Wall Street).
The condition that they’re required to allow anything… that wasn’t there. And several publishers have come under fire from 2016 onwards for being too permissive… remember the outrage against Facebook after the 2016 elections and now people started talking about repealing Section 230, and now it’s the other side on that rampage? And also how each side changed their disposition about it so quickly, but that sort of hypocrisy is as American as apple pie anyhow.
The government didn’t shut down Parker - the market did. Why the MAGA crowd is crying now about the market taking care of it - which they’re supposedly all about… I’d say it’s a mystery to me, but it really isn’t.

Trump violated the TOS of Twitter plethora of times. In fact there was an account that as an experiment tweeted word for word what he said and got banned in days.
The leader of the country has a responsibility to actually lead in a responsible way. Trump is reckless with his words.
Besides he only got kicked off social media as he should have been.
He can still peddle his reckless self-serving, fraudulent claims on whatever news outlets live that short of thing. Or better yet, he’s rich enough to create his own media empire from the taxes he never pays and the idiots who funded his recent campaign.
If it makes you feel better I read somewhere over 90k accounts were also removed from Twitter.

Not if there are legitimate reasons for refusing to sell it. Apple's reason for removing Parler from their store:
We have always supported diverse points of view being represented on the App Store, but there is no place on our platform for threats of violence and illegal activity. Parler has not taken adequate measures to address the proliferation of these threats to people’s safety. We have suspended Parler from the App Store until they resolve these issues
After the riots last week, where 5 people were killed, Apple does have a legitimate reason for removing Parler's app from their store. Perhaps if these actions had been taken a month ago, the riot never would have occurred.

Child porn is already illegal to begin with. Why should Holocaust deniers be banned, but not deniers of the 2020 election results, especially after the latter resulted in 5 people being killed?

No it's not. Not when someone has a cult following who accept everything he says without question. Do you think what the 2 Republicans from GA said on 60 minutes makes any difference to Trump's loyal followers?
Germany banned the nazi party and all related speech. In the 1920s and 1930s Germany allowed "more and better speech", including all of hitler and the nazis' hateful rhetoric. Which policy worked out best?

OK, then terminate those accounts as well. "But they're doing it too" is not a good defense whatsoever.
The best cure for Trump's bilge has proven to be more and better speech. Not less. The two Republicans from Georgia on "60 Minutes" Sunday torpedoed and sunk Trump's claims of voter fraud , miscounts , phony ballots etc. etc.
Yeah, the median MAGA crowd is watching 60 Minutes and making the sudden realization "Oh man, I've been wrong all along!" Hell no, they aren't! Or they would have after four years of fact checking and debunking claims and conspiracy theories. Instead, they ate it all up.
Laughing to keep from crying. It used to be that Facebook and Twitter got to say : "if you don't like our rules ; our biased enforcement of those rules or anything else about our platforms, start your own. Laughing to keep from facepalming. Parler can and absolutely did create its own platform; it just can't distribute itself on Google and Apple, nor use Amazon's infrastructure to facilitate violence. Well now, Parler can build its own service fabric, infrastructure, and digital distribution service too! And I mentioned this about two months ago:
But being that you'll need STEM people that tend to lean to the left heavily: good luck with that!
Those who applaud what Twitter and Facebook did obviously believe in "Free Speech for me but not for thee ".
I do not applaud what they did; I'm pretty indifferent. Nonetheless, the government won't abridge your freedom of speech (with some restrictions) on Parler, and the government didn't do that. So what's the problem?
Even the ACLU is supporting Trump and they hate his guts !
This is the actual statement from their senior legislative counsel. It doesn't read like support for Trump:
"For months, President Trump has been using social media platforms to seed doubt about the results of the election and to undermine the will of voters. We understand the desire to permanently suspend him now, but it should concern everyone when companies like Facebook and Twitter wield the unchecked power to remove people from platforms that have become indispensable for the speech of billions – especially when political realities make those decisions easier. President Trump can turn his press team or Fox News to communicate with the public, but others – like many Black, Brown, and LGTBQ activists who have been censored by social media companies – will not have that luxury. It is our hope that these companies will apply their rules transparently to everyone."

It is ridiculous.......
They should have gotten the impeachment done right the first time
And a typical narcissist is going to deflect away from responsibility n play the victim role when it suits them.
yesterday House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy said he talked to Trump by phone, and that Trump had accepted responsibility for his part in the Capitol uprising.
Guess whose pants are on fire? If your answer is Kevin McCarthy then you must have been lived under a rock. The correct answer is: I am not sure.
Because Trump is a deeply flawed person, he can tell lies whenever, wherever, whatever he likes.
