I bought a monthly membership for unlimited classes at a local pole studio. They have silks too, which is cool because I haven't tried them. I'm planning to go every other day. Will hopefully tone me up and maybe give me some new moves for work.

That's awesome! Funny how you feel better right away, then once you see results it's like yay! It's working!
Feels good to be back in a gym.
I did abs and legs today. Went running at the beach yesterday. I just like how it makes me feel calmer. And happier.
Been eating cleaner too. Less diet coke and heavy meals. Eating a lot of salads, cooked veggies and Greek yogurt and nuts. Staying away from rice and pasta.Cut caffeine out so that I won't produce too much estrogen, which can contribute to weight gain.

Whaaat, caffeine contributes to estrogen?? So I wonder if this damn birth control pill is making it harder to lose weight also.. it has some estrogen.. tf they should say that..

I've just started tracking on myfitness pal and realised I'm having nowhere near enough protein. My trainer has been telling me to check for ages because i have this habit of yawning during sessions and it really bugs him. So now I know. Veggies need to keep extra close check on their protein intake.

I take DIM supplements to rid my body of excess estrogen. It helps to take it if you want to prevent fibroids and breast cancer. I try to eat a lot of cruciferous vegetables too.
I noticed at my gym today, almost everyone was wearing masks. Some people were diligent with cleaning the machines. It's a 2 level place and very open-air which I like. Good ventilation. And they're constantly cleaning the bathroom too. Also, the shower rocks! Heading back in tomorrow for upper body day.

I've been really good with working out the last few weeks, I'm back on track. I have my first hike coming up this week, my resolution this year is to do a lot more nature stuff. My main goal now is MEDITATING DAILY. Idk why it is so hard for me to do this when I know so well what miracles meditation does. :swami::meditate:

I'm going to get my butt back in the gym and do the stair climber again! I just started doing it regularly this year and I'm dripping in sweat when I'm done-I feel like I get a way better workout on that than the treadmill and elliptical machines. I had been doing the treadmill and elliptical for years and I felt like I was stuck in a rut and needed a change. I still do them, but I try to do each cardio machine 1-2 days per week to work out a variety of my muscles and so I don't get bored with the gym. :)

I just hate going to the gym the first couple weeks in January because it's crowded with all the New Year's Resolutions people. LOL Maybe I'll try to go really late at night like midnight when it's more likely to be almost empty-I hate crowds!

Couldn't agree more. 20 min at escalating intensity on the stairclimber = 60 min+ on the elliptical. Love that thing. I mostly lift, but i use the stairclimber on arm day, and it's all i need!

I've been doing really well going to the gym on a regular basis. I'm pretty much in there to do a little cardio, mostly weights, and of course a shower. Decided to add some cardio later in the day, when it's sunset I go for a run by the beach. I don't want to do my cardio in the gym when I can do it outside. It feels safer that way.

Okay I have still been doing good with my workouts but still not being consistent with meditating. I also don't know what I have been doing differently but I have been seeing definition in body parts that I usually don't and so now I'm also trying to lean out because it would look really good if my bf% was lower.

^ I am doing doing well too but still 1-2 pounds " over " the BMI recommendation. I just want to be within that damn recommendation.
I'm 5'8'' and 165-166 most days.
I'd like to see a 164 number soon ( and stay there a long time ).
I'm kind of addicted to eating out at times and so I know that's where that extra 2-3 lbs is coming from ( that habit ). I got a bunch or thin chicken / firm tofu / fresh veg today to make 3-4 dinners out of .
This is not bad though because I have seen a 185 number on scale before ( thankfully that's been more than 2 years ago ).

I have a fitness question. I understand that your body will burn more calories at rest when you are weight training. My question is, will my body burn more calories when I'm doing cardio if I'm also doing weight training? More so than if I wasn't doing weight training?

If you're trying to build muscle, i think research is currently advising people to do cardio on a separate day. But if you're trying to maximize fat loss, doing some cardio after you lift is a good idea. From what I've read, i think the body does burn more fat when doing cardio after lifting since your body has exhausted its glycogen stores at that point. But fitness gurus, correct me if I'm wrong!

When I was trying to lose weight, not eating out and limiting what food I brought in made a big difference. It helped a lot that there was a pandemic going on and bars and restaurants were closed, except for take out.

It’s time I get a little more serious about my health and fitness goals and I’m hoping posting here and joining y’all will help me stay more accountable. I’ve been kickboxing for about a year but I’ve hardly made an effort to go since before the holidays. I’m noticing more than ever that my clothes are getting tighter and not fitting how I’d like them too. The biggest change when I workout more consistently is the confidence I get. I swear I feel like I look like a million bucks on the days I work out and total opposite the days I don’t. I have always been very active and very into fitness in years past so I know what so need to do. I just need to stop making excuses and do it… I woke up early today and decided to just go to kickboxing instead of staying in bed for a little longer. Tomorrow I think I’ll go again unless I’m too sore in which case I’ll go for a HIIT run
I also need to make a conscious effort to stretch more. I think even 10 mins before bed at night would make a difference. I’m 28 but nothing makes me feel like I’m ancient more than when I go a while without stretching and I lose my flexibility.

I am obsessed with Shiba Inu and Husky breeds, my pinterest has a dedicated board with those dogs :)). Planning to get one when I move at the country side. I already have 2 stray dogs adopted, so I need to pick between Shiba and Husky. Can't have 4 dogs lol. Probably gonna pick Shiba.

Fair warning, Huskys shed like crazy, are hyper and are escape artists. Shibas are more relaxed and shy.

Kickboxing yesterday, strength training today, if I’m sore tomorrow I’ll do a HIIT run but otherwise I’ll get back tomorrow for more kickboxing. Feeling good and already feeling more confident! Also, was able to keep my hand out of the candy jar today and skipped wine with dinner. Plus tomorrow is cleaning day and I like the a tea time spent on my feet.

My newest goal is to get a minimum of 100g of protein in every day. I definitely do not get anywhere near enough protein in my diet and I should probably be having a minimum of like 120-140(I weigh almost 190 but should probably weigh in the 150s-160s) but I'd rather start with a more doable start just go get accustomed to it. I'm also meditating more but still not daily, but rather than just saying over and over again that I wish I was meditating more or need to meditate more I've started telling myself the affirmation: I am meditating daily.

Omg girl same. I lift 2-3x/week max. Need those recovery days and to also not be in the gym constantly. I get burned out. I go for a walk around my neighborhood most nights.

I've started incorporating way more off days recently since every time I start working out very regularly I get that rundown, congested and achy feeling that happens when you feel like you're about to get sick. I never actually do get sick but it's still annoying, I think I have under-recovery issues. So lately I've been doing like one day off, then upper body, then one day off, then lower body, then one day off, then upper body...etc.

I really just freeball right now but shoot for around 150 protein a day. I base mine off of my fat free weight. I have one of those scales that measure that, actually fairly decent nowadays. Ideally I should get a little more in but I supplement a ton with shakes already
Genoveve

^^Mine is 75% shakes. Just ate a protein bar. There's no way I could do it with just FOOD food. I also just bought strawberry protein powder for the first time and it's pretty gross, should have stuck with vanilla. Might try to make protein fluff with it but it's going to be an unhealthy version that tastes better.

Ok same percentage. It’s cheeseburgers, pizza, and desserts that supplement my shakes is more accurate for me. Thus, I try to keep my mouth/keyboard free from diet advice, but getting that consistent protein no matter what has been key for my fitness stuff.

I wish protein shakes were more filling. Maybe if I got a good blender and made ones with ice, protein powder, quick oats and peanut butter? (I know there's lower fat nut butters but I don't care.) That way they'd be shakes but with carbs and fat in them? If I could find a liquid diet that was actually filling my life would be so much easier.

do you use MCT oil? It’s in a lot of stuff or by itself. That can be added.
I do dairy so sometimes I add heavy cream to my shakes. The protein powder I add to my coffee(also with heavy cream) is from egg white/beef protein combo and that fills me up pretty well. This of course breaks a lot of peoples dietary no goes.

I love adding hemp seeds or chia seeds to my protein shakes for fat, and i almost always put a banana in there, too. I use soy milk, unsweetened, protein powder, and a frozen berry of some kind.

I avoid dairy but adding double cream or greek yogurt is good, and tastes good too.
I add things like full fat coconut milk (the canned kind), coconut yogurt, nut butter, presoaked oats, sometimes a raw egg, sometimes half a very ripe avocado (although I don't like the taste of avocado in a shake).

I add heavy cream to like.....everything hehe. When I try to make the protein fluff I'm just going to make homemade whipped cream(which is heavy cream, sugar and vanilla) and beat some strawberry protein powder in it and some strawberry extract.
I got 108 grams of protein in yesterday, I'm not going to be home the second half of today so I might not hit my goal today.

Not sure what I hit yesterday, I had 52 grams at home and then shish kebab when I was out, no clue how many ounces of tenderloin they had to figure out the protein.
It's been easy to hit 100 eating at home though, so long as I always have my scrambled eggs for breakfast(1 egg and 3 servings of egg whites....:yuck:) and then drink protein shakes and have a dinner with protein.
